Never ordered food from here until today. Portion sizes were good as was the food. Standouts were the Crab Rangoons and chicken kung pao. The vegetables in the Kung pao were crunchy and obviously fresh unlike the soft drippy ones served up by other places. Cant fault it and after the crappy food we had delivered by one of its local competitors, this is our new go to when we want chinese cuisine. Oh, and they do their own delivery which is a HUGE plus, no more dodgy deliveries - and we have had more than a few of these from GRUBHUB and DOORDASH specifically - wont be using these delivery services anytime in this or any other lifetime. 11/10 Chengs! mmmm... This is my second time coming to this little gem. Very fast service, accurate ordering and my first time was delivery and they were very quick! I went with usuals of chicken and broccoli, dumplings and French fries. Came with a free egg roll. Quick tip, ask for sauce if you love it because they don't give them out freely lol Toughhhhhhhh parking so if you drive a hummer, be careful. So it took me a while to get to Chengs' even know I live 2 min away. Why? Because I could not order online or find a copy of the menu online. But I finally got around to giving Cheng's a try, and definitely wasn't disappointed. I thought the food was great, reasonably priced, and even though we ordered takeout there it only took about 7 minutes. For those in the neighborhood I would definitely recommend Cheng's. Talk about a deal! I decided to order here while on a business trip to Providence and my oh my....it was just under $6 for a Lunch special!! What!? That's AMAZING! Ordered from Cheng's Kitchen for the first time. Needed a quick, late dinner delivered. First phone number on menu didn't work, second one did (maybe a recent number change?). We ordered General Tso's Chicken Combination with Chicken Fried Rice instead of Pork Fried Rice. It normally comes with an Egg Roll. We asked if we could get a spring roll instead since we don't eat pork. The lady was kind enough to let us know the spring rolls also had meat but she was happy to include extra Chicken Fried rice in place of the egg roll. Order was delivered fairly quick, about 20 minutes from when we called. For General Tso's Chicken combo, 2-Liter Soda, Crab Rangoon and Chicken Wings with Shrimp Fried Rice, it was about $25. General Tso's Chicken was good, I've had better but it wasn't terrible. Chicken Wings were nice and crispy. The Chicken Fried Rice and Shrimp Fried Rice could've been way better. Too many onions with a strong taste of onions too. Just didn't taste super fresh. Crab Rangoon needed improvement. Tasted like cream cheese and maybe more onion? We ate maybe 2 of them. It wasn't the worst; it got the job done but I probably won't be ordering again. read more

I've been ordering from Cheng's for almost 8 years now... how is it I've not yet written a review?!?! Well, here I am. Better late than never. Cheng's is like any other hole in the wall Chinese take out spot in an inconspicuous location sandwiched between a dry cleaner and a pizza joint. It's a little dark and dingy in there, but don't let that fool you because it is clean. There is one small table in the restaurant, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone eating there before; it's strictly a take-out joint. I love the people who own it too; the woman is so friendly and she always takes time to ask me how I am doing and how things with me are and I really like having that comforting feeling I get when I pop in to pick up an order. The food is consistently hot, fresh and delicious and the portion sizes are great. I tend to be a creature of habit so I've only ordered the same few things over the years, but I keep going back because it's so dang good. The beef with broccoli is one of my favorites and the broccoli is big and fresh and crispy. Their crab rangoon are my 2nd all time favorite. I also quite enjoy their shrimp lo-mein. I've introduced Cheng's to several of my friends over the years and they all love it as much as I do. I'll be moving out of my neighborhood to another area of PVD within a month and let me tell you... I'll make it a point to go out of my way to order from Cheng's when I have a hankering for Chinese food. read more

This place is the best Chinese food we've found in RI so far. The hot and sour soup is the best, especially when you are sick! It's very spicy and fully of tofu, mushrooms, and other veggies. The shrimp and garlic sauce is not the same as I've come to expect, but it's still good. Prices are reasonable and delivery is very fast. However, as others have noted, pass on the fried rice. Much better than your average Chinese food. Ok, so this is a small take-out joint in North Providence. Nothing fancy outside, or inside for that matter. There is only 1 table for 4 and a few other chairs so you have a place to sit and wait for your food. This was our first venture to Chengs. The food was quite good tho! We got a PuPu platter figuring this would be a good benchmark to gauge their food. The chicken wings were nice and meaty and not greasy at all. The beef teriyaki was tender and had a terrific flavor (savory with a little cinnamon and other spices). The crab rangoon was tasty, although it was a little more chewy than crispy. Overall: great. I have lived in this area for awhile now and have tried all of the various Chinese places in the area and this place blew me away. Best Chinese in RI yet, and first visit no 5 stars yet but will return. Ordered early at 3pm for a pu-pu for 2 and orange chicken. Very satisfied. Food was hot on time. The place was freezing, but hey go to the best places in the big cities and they keep overhead lo, mein. Nah mean? Revelation: The pork sprerib actually a rib. Thank you. High-end restaurant touch, and tastier than most places who give you those red fatty globs of shite. Orange chicken combo excellent, Fresh broccoli, eggroll had shrimp. Perfect pork rice. Perfect chicken wings, very original fried shrimp (fried in pairs with tempura batter) Best of all, you can see the food being made by skilled cooks. I went today, because Best Eastern is closed for 2 weeks... YELP, you've really let me down! The reviews here were great, so I picked Cheng's over Little Chopsticks (where I've also never been). LC had reviews about having great rangoon, not those weird sweet triangles other places use. NOW I know what the hell they were talking about! These are not crab rangoon. they're not rangoon, they aren't crab, and they're sweeter than a pop tart. literally has sugar on the outside. what the hell? The general's chicken was really fatty, and had no faint crunch to it (which happens with delivery...but I bit into this right when it was HOT HOT HOT, just 2 minutes after she handed it to me at the counter). the broccoli tasted like chemicals. The white rice was alright though, whatever that means! boo to wasting money on crab rangoons, my favorite. I threw away 9 of the 10. read more

Tried Chengs for the first time, and used their delivery service. Ordered 3 General Tsos, and one sweet n sour chicken. Both were excellent, not chewy or greasy as other places have been. Delivery time a little slow but overall a great experience. We'll be back. Remember to ask for your free item with orders over $20, 30, and 40. They didn't tell us about them, but we did get a free egg roll that was one of the best we have had in a while. read more

After reading the reviews and trying it because they were rated so high, I was really disappointed. We are new to the area and of course coming from the Dartmouth MA area where they have the best chinese food, this was pretty bad. The fried rice is bright yellow with no taste, the teriyaki sticks were red and were like tough boneless spareribs. To top it off, the duck sauce was awful and she gave us packaged ones when we asked for more and those were downright nasty. The eggrolls and dumplings were not bad but all in all...I will certainly never think about going back. You want awesome Chinese and don't mind a ride, let me know and i will tell you where to go...but don't waste your money here! read more

I don't care the other super good reviews but I would recommend not wasting your time and money here to all my friends!!!! Last time I ordered Chicken LM and General Tao's Chicken to pick up. When I got home I found out there were no chicken in the LM and the GT chicken was way too much overlooked with smokey flavors!
