We had such a great experience here and it is a hidden gem. It's a very small, intimate restaurant, so definitely make a reservation in advance. The service was wonderful and we especially loved trying the specials and doing the omakase experience. It made dinner feel much more personal and gave us a chance to try things we probably wouldn't have ordered ourselves. Amazing sushi, great service, and such a fun experience. Definitely one of the more memorable dinners we had in Waikiki.

I highly recommend this place! Made reservations for 2 at 5pm on a Friday night, and had no problems and no wait. It's a small and cozy place, pretty casual. Service was attentive and the Sushi Chef was friendly. I recommend the Ala Carte sushi or Omakase. The female sushi chef we had was very good! My favorites this night were the Tai (red snapper) and Scallop. So good I had 2 orders! And the Uni was excellent! I think the quality of the food is very good, and so is the price.

BYOB‼ since a lot of people look past that. Although they have limited non-alcoholic drinks. Best sushi in Waikiki, everything is sooo fresh and a really great introduction to omakase if you're not familiar and want to give it a shot! Currently offered at $80. They offer daily specials so there's always something new to try. They have the best rolls ever, personal fave is the Leahi and Sunset. Chawanmushi has to be my favorite on the island. Staff here is incredibly friendly and fun! You'll always have a good time!

Near the beginning of Kalakaua Ave. before the shops, it is valet only parking for the restaurant in a hotel. As with most good sushi places, seating is limited at the counter so we made reservations in advance. They do accept walk ins for regular dine-in seating. We ordered the omakase for both of us and enjoyed the evening at the counter with Chef. She is from Japan and worked in California before she moved to Hawaii. We appreciated her expertise and enjoyed each and every serving that she graciously prepared before us. All the sashimi was fresh. The rice was perfectly seasoned. The ratio of fish to rice was also nicely proportioned. She even presented a few dishes with generous gold flakes. This establishment is BYOB and the staff are appreciative to partake when offered a pour :) A reasonable $230 before tip for two adults, this was a lovely evening and we may very well return. Thank you Chef and team!

Was craving sushi and wanted to try a different spot since we always go katsumidori. Though the me u is not as extensive as other sushi spots, the quality is super fresh. Ayumi was our waitress and she was so kind and attentive. Everything came out swiftly even though it was just one sushi chef working at 5 PM. Seared Trio A- seared engawa, seared toro, seared salmon. Every single nigiri was buttery and was the perfect amount of smokiness from the sear. Uni- most of the uni was fresh but I could taste some pieces had a bit more of an oceanic taste. Miso butterfish- buttery and flakey. The miso marinade was not overwhelming. Kileau roll- creamy California roll with delicious seared salmon. Really enjoyed this spot and cant wait to be back.

I've eaten sushi in a lot of places, and I can honestly say Ya! Sushi serves the best sushi I've ever had. Every single piece was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Now I completely understand why they have such an amazing rating. The service was just as outstanding as the food. Everyone was so kind and welcoming, and you can tell the chefs truly care about what they do. It made the whole experience even better. My only suggestion--and I truly mean this as a compliment--is that you guys need a bigger space! You're simply too good for such a tiny restaurant. The food deserves a larger dining room. Right now the seating is so close together that it feels like everyone in the restaurant is having the same conversation. It was difficult to talk privately with the person I came with because we could hear every table around us, and they could probably hear us too. Honestly, I think moving to a larger location would be a huge investment. I'm convinced you'd be able to welcome even more customers and grow your business because the quality of your food is absolutely worth it. Thank you for such an amazing meal. I can't wait to come back, and I'll keep recommending Ya! Sushi to everyone I know! Ps: I forgot to take a picture of the unagi nigiri but OMG it's THE BEST!! You should definitely order that!

Something is going on in a small sushi restaurant in Waikiki. It's like one of my favorite movies - east side sushi. In this place is a sushi chef that makes affordable omakase, has loyal followers and makes delicious sushi and sashimi! It's BYOB and yes, I grabbed a nice bottle of sake from Fujioka's and brought beer too! The service is fantastic and the sashimi was so fresh and good! The Leahi sushi roll was so good. I mean everything I ordered was great. It was so good I ordered two at times! The tako wasabi was so good and tasty! We shared sake with the chef and it was like Cheers in a small sushi bar in Waikiki. FREE VALET makes this place a winner!!!! As one of the locals said "don't take my reservation". They might be right. After this I may not be able to get in. Yes, I love this place. My wife loved it as well - it was her idea to go to this place. She's picking winners on Yelp!!!!'

We've now been to Ya!!Sushi a few times, and it's quickly become one of our favorite spots in Honolulu. It's a small, intimate space that really elevates the whole experience - especially if you can grab seats at the counter (which we always do). The omakase is consistently fantastic, with beautifully prepared sushi that highlights both quality and craftsmanship. You can really tell the chef takes pride in every piece. What keeps us coming back, though, is the combination of incredible food and genuinely warm, attentive service. The chef and staff make you feel welcome every time, and the cozy setting makes it feel like a special night out without being over the top. Bonus: it's BYOB, which makes the experience even more fun and personal - bring a favorite bottle and enjoy an incredible meal to match. If you're looking for a memorable sushi experience, this place absolutely delivers.

Unreal! A perfect meal. Super nice, authentic Japanese dining experience. The fish was fresh and delicious. The specials were amazing. And the Wagyu seared sashimi was probably the best steak I've ever had. New favorite restaurant. AND FREE VALET PARKING. We'll be back soon.

Took my mother to this new sushi spot in waikiki, the sushi was really fresh and the price was okay. The servers and chief were primarily japanese, I think, really nice and welcoming when we entered the restaurant. The restaurant is small so go with smaller groups, otherwise you may need the whole restaurant space. If I recall correctly, theres about 20 to 25 seats in there.

In the last three month my husband and I went there at least 5 times. Everything is fresh. Sushi chef is super nice and all the sushi she makes you can tell she put her heart in. It's casual and BYOB. I will keep on coming back. Very cozy small sushi hole in the wall feeling.

Location at the Luana hotel is low key & easy access in the beginning of Waikiki which is nice. Walked in a greeted by the friendly staff and chef. Seated with reservations and BYOB! Omakase varieties were very good in combination and the price point is great too for the excellent quality! I just let the chef decide and she did a wonderful job!

I think you'd expect quality food/service but this place failed in both aspects. I did not have the choice of choosing where to eat since my friends wanted to eat here. It just so happens it fell during the weekend of the Maguro Fair. Upon ordering our toro sushi, I noticed from the first bite that the fish was extremely stringy and rubbery tasting... My friend also wanted to celebrate my Birthday here but there was no acknowledgment at all, when she had a whole group of people singing for her when we celebrated her here previously. I have already told everyone around me about my terrible experience and will not want to celebrate any occasion here in the future. I didn't even want to tip but felt bad and left it as a severance pay that I will never be dining here again... Hate to say that this also cancels my experience at their actual premium omakase location in Kapahulu. There are many other sushi places to go to and I will not be returning.

My fiance won a gift card actually 2 of them (from his coworker whom could not get a reservation secured), we knew we had to make the trip over before they officially close. We had multiple dishes, but staff made Kauai prawns and tomato miso black cod dishes on the house since they ran out the Hokkaido scallops. We ordered the short ribs, lobster appetizer, hamachi crudo and lastly sashimi moriawase to finish food palate. Lukki lemon dessert was great way to end to night. Ordered the Milk tea bouquet cocktail while my better half had water ( either way the food coma knock him out cold the rest of the night lol). To be honest, it was difficult to determine which dish was the best because the staff kept quality there despite it being busy every night since they announce the closure. Sashimi moriawase, fish was so fresh, reminded me of my time spent in Hokkaido and Sapporo. Short ribs was soft and rich in flavor. Both me and my fiance liked the lukki lemon dessert, like lemon meringue pie but broken down version. Waiter gave us GREAT recommendations as it was our first time. Let's talk about the food. My top 3 dishes of the night -- 1) Uni charwanmushi - to DIE for. So much flavor, so much protein. 2) the beef skewers - incredibly tender. We ended up ordering another order bc it was so good. 3) sushi- Negitoro, torotaku, spider roll and spicy tuna... the rice and fish texture was just so perfect. My parents and friend enjoyed almost everything. I think the three items I enjoyed the most were the yuzu pickled vegetables, the yuzu sorbet and the chicken karaage. Those stood out the most for me. For the whole experience it was rather enjoyable still how I remembered it used to be. There is ample parking in the back if you come early or street parking. It was a little difficult with someone with a walker but slowly we moved in and out so just need patience. Pricing was what I was are used to going out to eat sushi nowadays. I also don't understand how Yelp lists this place as a "good for kids". It's not. There wasn't a kids' menu and the dishes were not kid-palate friendly (other than maybe the basic California style hand roll). For example, the fried tofu had shredded ginger on top that permeated the dish and the karaage had a very mild (but present!) note of spice that reminded me a bit of buffalo sauce. Our waiter didn't even give us a heads up or point us in the direction of any dishes to consider for the kids (surely we must not be the only family who has brought kids to this restaurant). Lastly, I understand that the tempura brownie is popular but after tasting the "tempura" on the tofu I'm sure the brownie is just the star that shines through. The "tempura" on the tofu was gummy and not the authentic Japanese tempura we are used to (my husband, who is part Japanese, said to me "What is this?! Cornstarch?"). This is probably a great restaurant for drinks and hanging out with some adult friends but the rolls and appetizers were just not to our tastes. We were also sat outside when the restaurant was near empty inside and out (we went around 4PM) and it was a hot day (though the AC wasn't particularly cool enough for my preference inside either).
