We were drawn to this restaurant by its sophisticated and inviting ambiance and decor. It certainly presents itself as a higher class establishment. The staff were polite and professional. We started with the eggs and mayonnaise, and the calamari. Both were excellent. Our mains were the lamb chops and the veal steak. I have to say I was impressed by the presentation of the lamb chops which featured smoking dried thyme. Very close to our hotel, so we thought we would give it a try. The service was not up to par, but the food was very good. Nice cool weather - it was great to sit outside and enjoy the scenery. I had the filet mignon - a little chewy but manageable and the gravy a perfect topping to add. The dessert was the "icing on the cake." Apples were hot and fresh then to add a scoop of ice cream - was perfect. Would definitely go again. read more

Had a lovely lunch at this restaurant. The staff were friendly and attentive. Loved the ambiance and decor of the place. My salmon was prepared perfectly and I loved the creamed spinach side. Very solid French Brasserie food. This a good lunch spot if you want to eat something very french and have a glass of wine and coffee, especially if you're looking to dine outside. The food is classically french with very little flexibility and the wines are all very french as well. Everything about it (except the waiters who seem to be Indian) screams that this is french. The overall vibe seems to be business people and folks from the nearby consultates or government buildings coming to eat work lunches. There seemed to be very few families eating when I was there. The vibe definitely matches what you would expect in the 16th. I had a salad and some steak tartare which was really solid. They brought excellent mustard without me even asking and the bread was very good. I had a lovely Rhone valley red to accompany the food that also made me super excited to be eating there! Walking back to the hotel and ran across this small cafe. Wanted to try authentic Parisian cafe food so we decided to try the restaurant. Outdoor seating but it was November and headed indoors. Wife ordered steak frites. I wanted to try the French Onion soup and beef bourguignon. Tried the wine special a red from Bordeaux, Chateau Cadet Medoc blend. Wine was better than average. The onion soup was splendid, perfect for a cold day well seasoned with plenty of gooey cheese. The beef bourguignon was delicious. Two large potatoes lying across the top of the stew. Served in a cast iron pot. Really well done. The wife's steak was ok if a bit tough (we're from northern Nevada and spoiled with local grass-fed beef) but the fries were thin and crisp. We stayed at the Renaissance right up the street, so we tried XVI shortly after arriving in Paris for a quick bite on our first day. It was an odd hour, 4 pm, so it was pretty quiet/slow. The staff was incredibly nice and we really enjoyed the "kinda" cozy atmosphere. We only got some wine, pizza and a cheese selection to hold us until dinner and enjoyed it all. Not amazing, but really good. Honestly, the staff made it excellent. We came back again for some pizza and a seafood salad on our last day. We dined at this restaurant 1st of September 2022 We were staying at the Le Dokhan's, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel just a few 100 feet from this restaurant which was the initial reason why we selected this place to dine, however the convenience and the quality of food was great enough that we actually ate here twice so in a two day stay. this restaurant serves classic French cuisine, and our group had a variety from rib eye, spaghetti bolognese, anti-pasta plates, to a fabulous baked chicken dinner and we were pleased with everything accept we felt that the rib eye was very grisly and tough. I would still give the restaurant a good grade because of location general quality of food and the outdoor dining experience was exemplary we would eat here again on future trips read more

First of all, I was petrified to find out how difficult it is to find a restaurant open past 10pm on a Sunday in Paris. After being redirected from one place to the next, we arrived here and were pleasantly surprised. Even though it was still early September, fall was in full swing in Paris, wind gusts and winter coats were plentiful. Thus, this dinner could have only started with a Gluhwein, a warm glass of wine with cinnamon, star anise, cloves, citrus and sugar. They prepared it quick and boy, did we enjoy it. Next was their homemade foie gras, which was excellent. Following courses consisted of a French onion soup and a veal "stew" as they call it on the English menu. Trust me, this an issue in translation. It was not a stew at all, just veal served on a plate with some sauce. French onion soup was phenomenal as well and very quick and attentive service. Overall, an excellent restaurant. Minor complaints were that the tea and the soup were served barely warm, wish it was hotter. The staff were extremely nice, didn't rush us even as they were shutting down the restaurant. Ps. Classic interior, gold and wooden paneling. Makes for a cozy evening. read more

Older hostess was incredibly rude. Everyone in Paris has been very nice and welcoming. This women seemed to be bothered that we were there for coffee and something to eat. We ordered coffee first and then said we would look over the menu. Moments later she came by and grabbed the menus without a word. When I asked for a menu because we wanted to order she dropped one on the table and walked away. She did not come back for more than 10 minutes (the place was 10% full) and then said we could not order breakfast because it was now 2 minutes too late. Very rude and dismissive. I got the roasted chicken with haricot vert, and my husband got the pork chop special with a mustard based sauce and potato purée, it was excellent. The drawback- we were next to a table of smokers, but it seems this is inescapable. I don't remember as many smokers 5 years ago, but it is what it is. Hubs fully enjoyed his foie gras (as did my daughter, until he told her what it was) and duck l'orange. I got penne (I know, who orders pasta in Paris? This girl. I needed carbs after 10 miles of walking) and it was just OK. Same for my daughter's pizza (see prior penne comment ;o) Our waiter was very sweet and the wine was good. This place has really good French cuisine at a very fair price with very nice staff. It's open morning till night door breakfast through dinner. The tables were large and the seats were comfortable. The service was great, and the staff were lovely. The food was a bit overpriced, but tasted great nonetheless. 1Jan 2019 I gave this place 1 star due to the attitude of the wait staff. As a military veteran , I have a habit of scanning a room and looking for a seat I will feel comfortable in. I moved tables 1 time and the wait staff made fun of me. I'm not that fluent in French but I know enough to get by. I brought it to the waiters attention, afterwards he would not even look at me. My wife and me came in for breakfast and we wanted to seat inside because of all those smokers outside. The place where empty at 10am but most of the tables were already set for lunch. We were only in Paris for 3 nights, and we chose to come back to this place every time. Our waitress was amazing, she provided such a lovely dining experience. The food was amazing! The lamb and the veal was so delicious. I haven't had a meal yet here that i didn't thoroughly enjoy. The food feels so comforting in this small restraunt, almost as if your own grandma was cooking the meal back there for you. Restaurant was close to our hotel in Trocadero and had a very nice glasses in outdoor seating area on a corner location. Even though it was 45f degrees out at night it was still nice dining outside with heaters and cozy blankets for the more sensitive ones. ;). The menu was so diverse I was sure it was an American tourist trap (and it may still be) but after eating here for 4 days at a variety of restaurants I can say it was very good. Servers spoke English well enough, menu had translations and there was something each of the 4 of us wanted which is always a challenge. My son got to try frog legs for the first time and loved them. (Basically French chicken wings from what I could tell) My vegetarian husband was thrilled to have a fish other than salmon as an option and I had a very good deconstructed Niçoise salad. The kids loved their desserts too. A bit over-priced but everything is in this area. read more
