When I found them on yelp, I was reluctant, I am somewhat cynical about some yelp reviews and normally I go straight to the bad reviews to show what has happened. Being a business owner myself, I know you cant make everyone happy. So I set up an appointment with Juan to give me a visual assessment. My move is fro Union City, to Fremont (rental), then to Union City for storage. He came in and looked at everything we had. He appreciates nice furniture and assured me that if they couldnt take it apart and put it together themselves, that he would come in himself to do this. I took that as a huge vote of confidence. Promised me a good estimate, as well as to be taken care of. Although they were not the cheapest I got a quote from, my gut told me to go with them. Andrea did the booking, and was VERY persuasive. She had wonderful knowledge about her staff and knew exactly what I needed to do to save a little bit of money. Heck, she even gave me a list of do-to's before my move. I read in the review that Victor's crew was mentioned with high regard, so I knew I had to ask for them. Ive never moved with a moving company before, so I was probably Ms. paranoia 101. I would give this place zero stars if I could. Working with this company and the staff has been the worst moving experience! I moved from the Bay Area to the east coast and I chose this company because they were local, accredited and friendly when I initially called. I made the moving arrangements and I was told over the phone Kathy (Relocation Consultant) it would take approximately 7 - 21 days from pick up (incorrect information - it is 1 - 21 business days from first date of delivery) to delivery on the east coast and I was quoted a good price of approximately $2100. The day of pick up, Edgar (the lead mover) start haggling with my over the price and quote me a "new" price of $2500 and explains to me he is cutting me a deal because I am "over weight" etc etc etc. I signed a binding contract and my stuff was loaded onto the truck on a Friday September 12th. I called the following week on Wednesday, to get an estimated date of arrival from the company. I spoke with Tami (Customer Service Representative) who told me the shipment would be leaving the following Monday, September 22nd but she would call back next week to confirm. I never received a phone call so I called them a week later on a Wednesday; Tami was on vacation and I was told by Andrea they were going to contact the dispatch person and call back. By Friday I did not receive a phone call so I called them back again and I was told with 100% confirmation that the truck was leaving the following Monday, September 29th. I called the following week again because I never received an update regarding my shipment and I was told there was a "mix up" in communication, they were "short staffed," and there was a "delay" with one of the drivers and my shipment did not leave. Melissa, one of the supervisors then took over the processing of my shipment. I was then informed by her that I owed an additional $78 dollars because they forgot to include a tax on the initial quote even though I signed a binding contract and they could not ask for additional money. Melissa was unable to estimate or confirm a new shipment date because of scheduling issues with the drivers. Needless to say, 2 additional weeks later my shipment finally left the bay area and finally arrived to me on October 21st well over the original estimated shipment time. Many of my items are broken and boxes are torn up with items falling out of them. Tabletops have been damaged and scratched because the movers shoved them into other boxes with other items. I have been nothing but disappointed with this moving company from start to finish. So here's the deal. The people that do the packing and delivery are hardworking, efficient, and somewhat nice. I say somewhat because when I received the property the guy started out rude on the phone because there were some issues I had with the office, but he was nice when he got there. The guys who packed us were amazing! They were were such pros! The office staff left a lot to be desired. I just needed an ETA on my stuff getting to Texas ( 2 weeks after I requested my property) and they could not give me an ETA other than a two day window 4 days before the delivery. The driver called 30 mins before the delivery and was frustrated at me because I didn't know what was going on. The three days leading up to my delivery, I called everyday and was told I would get a call back after they talk to the driver. I never did. Needless to say I was very frustrated. I had to reserve a dock to avoid an extra fee (long Cary) which 1/2 would have been avoided if I got more of a notice. I understand the 2 week wait, but I don't understand why I didn't get AT LEAST a 24 hour notice, my calls returned, or a break on the fee I was charged because of the inability to give me a solid day. I felt like they were avoiding phone calls in order to nickel and dime me. That's probably not the case, but when it's radio silence I'm left to my own conclusions. read more

Per "Tammy's" review below, there is proof online from the USDOT carrier website that their operating license was "REVOKED" and hasn't been reinstated (see photos too). They also do not carry insurance anymore which they are required to do, obviously! It's all making sense why all of the customers CLAIMS calls/emails go unresponsive! How immorally corrupt can you get? Why would anyone trust their personal belongings with this corrupt company? They pretty much can do whatever with your stuff once it's picked up, charge you however much and if you never see it again, well, can't say you weren't warned. You have no legal protection. Wish we knew about all of this before the company we THOUGHT we were doing business ended up subcontracting us out to XO last minute. I would have been sick to my stomach if I saw so of this info while we waited over 1+ months for our things. If there were a way to give negative stars I would. Picking up where I left off, I was again offered another delivery date in mid-January but I was going to be out of the area forcing me to reschedule again. I let them know as soon as I got the dates from them and surprisingly didn't have any issues with extra charges. Now I just had to wait for a new shipping date. Fast forward to Feb 19 in the afternoon to be more precise, I was given the shipping date of Feb 20 with a time window of 12-4. I go to school from 1-5 an hour away from my home which would make it impossible for me to be there. I offered the weekend as a better time, but I was told that the delivery had to be made that day. So after scrambling to find someone to stand in for me, my friend accepted last minute. The movers arrived around 1130-12 only to find out that the truck they brought was too large to bring in the apartment complex I live in. Also during this time they asked to be paid before my friend even saw my goods which seemed unprofessional. I receive a call from management saying that I should have known an 18-wheeler truck wouldn't fit and that I would be charged $350 so the movers can get a u-haul truck in order to complete the delivery to bring my total to $850. I immediately refused to pay the extra fees and I was told my goods would be placed in public storage. Apparently the staff here takes customer matters personally. After refusing the $350 u-haul(I have just under 800lbs of goods) I was given brand new estimates. I was offered to pay $950 to have my items put in storage in North LA(I live in North San Diego) where I could pick them up my self or I could pay $1350 for another delivery. When I asked where my items were being stored for the time being I was told I needed to pay $500 just find out!! I've almost given up on my items as I have damn near replaced all of it just waiting on these guys. The customer service I received from the office staff and the staff at dispatch was deplorable. TL;DR: They were incredibly late, caused over $3k in damages to my bike alone (plus random furniture and picture damages), and tried to silence me. Yeah, don't ever use these guys. I'm still upset at the way they treated me and handled the situation. Before our stuff arrived, they tried proposing some sort of settlement agreement. They wanted to offer ~$650 for all the inconvenience they caused and any future damage (I'll attach the proposed settlement agreement). But along with this I was legally barred from posting any kind of review of my experience. This was just the beginning and we obviously declined because we hadn't even seen our stuff yet and this seemed like a legal get out of jail free card. Not only did our stuff arrived WAY past their guaranteed window, but they were so late they legally had to pay me a daily fee for every day they were past the LEGAL window (can't remember exactly how late, but I think it was around 4-6 days past the 30 day legal window). If that wasn't enough. My worst nightmare unfolded right in front of my eyes. When the truck finally arrived, they had no way to get the large motorcycle crate out. They had to call a local tow-truck to drag the wooden crate out of the bed of the truck. As they were dragging it out, I noticed the back door of the crate was wide open. My heart sank. I peeked in and my bike was lying on its side against the crate. When they finally got it off the cargo truck, then off the tow-truck. I was able to further look at the damages. First thing I noticed was it was not packed the same way it left. All of the cardboard 'protection' they had in there was gone and the bubble wrap was all over the place. (Photos attached) They broke my instrument housing causing the whole headlight, and instrument housing to be completely unhinged, they broke a turn signal at the housing level, but worse of all, they scratched the tail of my bike to hell. But, this was all mostly cosmetic damage (had it estimated at ~$1200 in damages) and I at least had my bike and could take it for a ride right? Yet again, I was wrong. Not only did they have me empty the fuel tank to prevent the bike from combusting in transit, but they apparently decided they wanted to disconnect my fuel sensor (probably ignorantly thinking it was a spark plug) and didn't tell me. About 5 minutes into my first ride, I notice my exhaust is getting VERY hot, so hot in fact, it was changing the whole exhaust brown. I turned around immediately, parked the bike in the garage and noticed the cores of my exhaust were golden brown. Disconnecting the fuel sensor caused the exhaust servo to malfunction causing irreversible damage to my exhaust. I ended up having to replace it completely costing me ~$1600. (I have attached the photos of the damages) This doesn't even cover the random furniture and pictures they broke. Stay away. read more

This company has the incredibly unscrupulous policy of offering customers a discount in exchange for agreeing not to give them a negative review on Yelp. They sent me this agreement just before my stuff was due to arrive and there was pressure - they made it sound like I had to sign it before they'd give me my stuff. They backed down when I called them on it, but in any case, I think it's a pretty damn good reason not to trust their Yelp ratings. (And I refused to sign it so that I could let you all know this. You're welcome.) In other ways they were mediocre but not terrible. My stuff all arrived, basically in one piece (couple of new scratches but nothing huge), on literally the last day of the window of time they had promised. I was not impressed that the guys who packed up my furniture ran out of blankets and had to use tons of plastic wrap instead (the new scratches were all because of this, ugh). So, I mean, no huge disasters, but they're definitely NOT worth the 4 star rating you see on here. read more

I have been avoiding writing a review for a while hoping that these would be fixed by now, but here I am. I picked XO off their good yelp reviews, but I should have noticed that there were not that many. I did a lot of research and had other moving companies come to my house and look at all my things in person and estimated my items to weigh 2500 pounds. XO said they charged by weight and for 2500 pounds was going to be $1200. Well, when the movers came they charged me over $100 to put two plastic covers I had on my mattresses and to tape up some boxes. So, make sure to have your own supplies. They charge per piece of tape. Then I was convinced that my boxes, many of which were full of blankets and pillows were actually close to 4500 pounds because of the space that it took up in the truck. But he would hook me up and only charge me a flat rate of 4000 pounds. So, basically, my $1200 doubled. I was promised that I would still find out the weight of my load no matter what. My things were picked up Wednesday, February 20th and I was promised that at the earliest my things would be delivered Friday the 22nd and at the latest it would be Tuesday the 26th. They said it would be rare for it to take that long as it is usually 2 to 4 days. I barely got any updates and there is no one to contact over the weekend. Well, at the last minute on Wednesday mid-day I found out they would be at my new apartment that day in a few hours the 27th, so basically 8 days after pickup. They ended up showing up at 9pm and were there until after 11pm. They told me my things could not have weighed more than 3000 pounds, but I was never told how much my things actually weighed. My large rug was missing and my lawn chairs scratched and damaged. I was told that someone would be in contact with me the next day to handle my damaged and lost items, but no one called. Finally after calling a few times, 5 days later I was called that my rug was found and that it would be delivered by Tuesday March 12th. Now, it is March 17th and my rug is still not here. It really tied the room together. Maybe other people have had a good experience, but honestly, I think I was taken advantage of because I'm a young girl on my own. Nothing that was told to me from day 1 actually happened. It was lie after lie. I totally got scammed. They also tried to resolve this by paying me $200 to take down my yelp review. I did not take the money, but I'm sure many do and that is why there were only positive reviews. read more

UN-LICENSED COMPANY! Their license is actually revoked and I did not find out until after the companies movers stole my 2.5 karat diamond wedding rind from my bedroom. They actually went into my bedroom when the door was shut and went through my stuff to find my wedding ring. They also quoted me a 4 hour move and it took almost 8, so I had to pay almost double of what was quoted. This company has no license, no insurance and no bond! PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I was excited when this company quoted me a lot less than every other mover, but I should have known better! they showed up on time, but the driver cornered me in my kitchen and made me sign a not-to-exceed for more than DOUBLE my quote! Tammi has gone out of her way to try to get my items delivered earlier and has been in constant contact with me on the status of my delivery. She clearly explained everything and apologized for the misunderstanding with the sales team. Although my first expectations weren't met, Tammy has gone above and beyond to try to help me out. When I spoke with Emil to contract for my move from northern California to southern California, I was very impressed with his professionalism and customer service despite the two day notice. However, when it came to the actual move, I was very disappointed. I was told that everything was included in the estimate except for the weight, but I was charged additional fees for wrapping my furniture, which I did not request. I was also told to expect delivery the next day. After several frustrating calls, I was finally told my delivery would not take place for four days. We moved the last weekend in March '14 and were looking for a reliable company. I received more than 10 recommendations from coworkers. I called all of them and received quotes. XO came in as one of the lowest prices. Keep in mind that my wife and I packed all our belongings before hand except for large items (couches, tables, etc). We were also doing a relatively short move and were able to move items such as lamps, pictures, TV, and other basic fragile items ourselves. They quoted me a per hour rate with no additional charges. I told them our situation and the quote came in at 4 hours. The day of the move Alan, Ishmael, and Carlos were the team sent to help us out. They were all very nice and professional. They moved quickly, while taking the appropriate amount of time to ensure our belongings were moved with care. The large items were padded and tapped. To be honest, I thought they were over doing that part, but when it came time to move into our new rental, I'm very happy with the amount of padding, etc they used. The move came in at 3.75 hours. The move was scheduled when I wanted and the movers were on time (no delays at arrival) On the day of the move, Alan called me ahead while the team (Alan, Antonio and Jeron) is on the way to my place. I hired XO for a move, and although it was a short distance away, it was very difficult to pack and move everything with two young children around, so all we did was pack the small stuff and had XO do the dirty work!! Overall, this was the best long-distance moving experience I've had, with just a few issues that got in the way of a 5-star rating. Consider this to be a 3.5 star rating rounded up to a 4 (but in my experience, that's amazing for a moving company). The good part is that their pick-up crew was friendly, professional, helpful, and careful with my belongings. They took their time to properly wrap and box everything to make sure all items, especially the fragile ones, were protected. They were also in good communication with me on the day of the move. The drop-off crew was equally good and followed my instructions regarding placement of boxes, furniture, and objects diligently. Here's what I would improve: (1) I was quoted a price based on weight (who the heck knows what all of their property weighs anyway?), but not given the option up front of a flat-fee move. The head of the pick-up crew ended up presenting this, but I would have rather known my choices up front. (2) They do outsource/coordinate with other companies and ended up handing my delivery to Revolution Moving Systems. I don't have complaints about the job that group performed, but would have liked to know up front who would be transporting my belongings. (3) There was confusion about the method of payment. I was originally told I could pay with cash, cashier's check, or credit card (with a 5% surcharge). The day before the move, I was told only cash or a post office money order would be accepted. Eventually they honored the original terms, but I had to take the time to fight back on this point. Also, they did not handle the Yelp discount properly without me reminding them several times. In summary, the service was good and the price fair, but the experience could have even been better with just a few changes. read more

XO was cheaper than anywhere else I got quoted. And at the time they were shipping cross country by the weight, the quoted me $1600 on the initial shipping, and was very up-front about the extra costs that were going to be associated with moving. (Provide packing tape, and other packing materials for the movers so that they can wrap your stuff.) otherwise they charge you 5-10$ a roll. They go through about 20 rolls, so it gets expensive fast. Movers were fast, gentle, and professional. Got the job done as promised. I did have my Gaming PC break by the Video card ripping out the PCI slot, but that was mostly my fault for not tightly screwing down the card to prevent it from moving. Overall, No-frills Move your stuff company with a quick response. Oh and they stored my stuff for a year for about 100$ a month, until I finally found a place to live. read more

I was very pleased with the service I received from this company. I did lots of research on movers and not only did they have the best rates, but the friendliest staff. Ran and his team, Antonio, Ismael and Philippe, were great at both pick up and drop off. Even though they got off schedule on the pick up, Ran kept in constant contact with me to let me know what was going on and got the job done. I wish I had gotten my stuff sooner than I did, but I did move to a pretty remote area and it's understandable that the trip up had to be worth it. Ran got to my new place within the half hour window he provided me and had my stuff all moved in within about an hour. I just felt bad that they had to turn around and drive the 9 hours back. I am very impressed with XO Moving System. I contacted them 5 weeks before my moving as I was shopping around for the right mover. In total, I have spoken to XO on the phone for 5-6 times. I always come out with new questions and the consultant Andrea Pineda has been extremely patient and professional. She answered all my questions and even gave me advise on how I could better prepared my move to save money. When Andrea was away, I spoke to a couple of other people and they were able to easily pull out my file and answer my questions without a glitch. So that was good. My move was on Sunday, and I was kinda worry that I won't be able to get a good crew working on that day but I really did not have to worry at all. The crew was on-time, professional, and pleasant throughout the move. They were very careful with the furniture and very efficient. I could not have asked for more. I want to say a big THANK YOU to the XO Moving team for your top notch service. I especially want to call out Andrea the consultant, the crew Ron, Philippe, and Ismail for their excellence service and professionalism. I've been with XO moving and storage since 2010 - Using their service to pick-up items from my parents home and store them in XO Moving's Union City (now Fremont) location. Melissa has worked hard to keep my items safe, accounted for during their transition from their Union City location to Fremont, and kept excellent records. She has gone out of her way to continue to communicate with me, sometime she's called me several times, and keep me updated and informed - I can forget to call back. Recently, I needed to pick-up my belongings and move them to a storage unit closer to my home. She was available, had all my paper work from 8 years ago, met me at the storage unit, had all my boxes and belongings waiting for me outside, and even check off each box to make sure all was there. Wow... these people made this move easy. I'm moving from union City to Sacramento. The customer service on the phone was comforting and started the whole thing off right. I dealt with Scott. He was very helpful and was even available on move day for any questions or concerns. I have a very packed one bedroom apartment. They got in here and were very polite and gentle with the moving of my things. I can't believe how much effort they put into packing up things so they won't be damaged. This is the first time I've used a moving company. I don't write many reviews but I am sitting here while they are packing up the truck with nothing to do and I'm so impressed. Ok I am back. Unfortunately I had to move again. I decided to call xo moving of course. I recommended that victor be a part of the team. This time he came with Carlos and Felipe. Can I just say awesome?. I was not surprised that the work was fantastic. They called when they were on the way and within my given time range. The customer service is still outstanding and it doesn't hurt that they were all cute. :-) Ok you get the point. Once again I was very impressed. Hopefully I won't need to move again so quickly but will definitely refer everyone to xo moving. I had heard about XO from a co-worker who used them and spoke very highly of them - I then referred a friend to them and then I had the opportunity to use them. Victor, Felipe, Ismael and Israel did an awesome job! They were friendly, quick, detailed, careful and omg they wrapped up EVERYTHING with blankets and cardboard to protect it. Top to bottom this company is horrible. I needed a mover on short notice and out of several XO - specifially Anna at XO was prompt to respond. I set up a moving date and gave a CC to hold. The payment terms are 50% at pickup and 50% at delivery, cash or check at pickup and cash or money order at delivery. I thought this was standard in the industry but it is not. They use a cash system so you have no recourse when they mess up. I chose a moving date and had everything boxed and ready to be picked up. The movers would not have to do anything except take it from the first floor of my house into their truck. On the actual moving day the movers were late, really late. And I had to call to track them down. No one from XO was considerate enough to let me know. Movers showed up at 6PM instead of by 2PM. The people who showed up were John and someone else (later learned he's just helping out and does not do this full time). It started off well as John let me take a picture of the last weight slip "because he likes to be honest with his customers". I was told I would get a weight slip after my items were loaded. After looking at my boxes whoever John was talking to decided that my move was now 3500 LBS instead of 2500. At this point I had no choice, if I cancelled my CC would be charged a fee and I'd still have to find a mover. I was running out of time. I thought 2500 was high and John assured me that they would be transparent and provide me a weight. At the time of reservation I was told that my items would be delivered within 10 days of the date I chose at the time of pickup, more on this later. John was a nice guy and so was the other but they were very lazy, in paticular his helper. He would go into my house, bring out a few boxes and disappear for 10-15 min. No idea what he was doing as I was watching John. After a while I noticed something odd. John had an earpiece in and was facetiming with his wife, THE ENTIRE TIME! The process of loading into their truck took 4 hours. They were very slow and more interested in digging through a stack of items I had for donation. The only time they really applied themselves was looking at old phones and laptops. Fast forward to the end of the pickup - I took pictures of the pickup sheet showing my numbered items and had to give a check for 50% of the even more inflated amount - again John stressed they are a very honest company (spoiler, they are not). John did not know anything about writing a date on the sheet for delivery. So many red flags. He suggested I contact the person who booked my move to pick a date. I contacted anna and picked a date 3 weeks from my pickup date. I had to leave the country for 3 weeks in 6 weeks so I thought this was reasonable. 3 weeks later and nothing, I had called and emailed and was finally told that they were still looking for a carrier to deliver my items. But they had within 10 days of the date I chose to do it. Ok fine I said. The 10 days passed and still nothing. I stressed again I had to leave on x date and they said they were working on it. Finally I got a date. It was 4 days before I had to leave, cutting it close but ok. That day goes by and I call and ask why no one has showed up - they do not know and they even lied to me on the phone about telling me the delivery date had changed. I stressed again it had to be by x date or it would have to be after I got back. That is when they got nasty. They said even though they were late I would have to pay a redelivery fee if I didn't take the delivery whenever they said. I said they kept giving me different delivery dates and no one was showing up. Finally late at night the day before I had to leave I get a call from a different company, Revolution Moving that they were scheduled to deliver the day after my drop dead date. I said no way that does not work. The revolution guy said he'd call XO and they'd get back to me. I did not hear back and I called XO. I'm stressing out at night wondering how to make this work. Finally I decided to try and deal with the revolution guy because the people at XO are truly worthless. I changed a flight and ate the cost so I would not miss my international flight and told the revolution guys to come. They said they'd come at 5PM and did not show to 11PM. 20 min unload with no weigh slip, they said they'd weigh after, but also had another delivery in az before going to las vegas. john missed 10 boxes on his sheet. too busy on his phone. gave the revolution guys the inflated balance and was told i'd get a refund if it were less. a few weeks later after asking about the weight I get an email saying the weight was 4000! and I owed more. I said no and this is against CA law. never heard back. even the revolution guys were skeptical that my stuff even weighed 2500. xo is a horrible unprofessional scam. oh and my boxes were brand new but beat up really bad. couldn't even donate them to be reused read more
