Very nice staff, for 98% of the time they do great work, just tell them in advance to leave ingrowns alone. The woman I had pulled too far down which hurt, and now my toe is sore, hot and infected. I even took precautions and washed the area and constantly applied antibiotic cream after the appointment. read more

Hark reader- remember that most people are motivated to review after a bad experience over a good one. This place not having 5 stars? I blame the hoards of loyal X-Nails regulars for not standing by their business and letting this place get slammed by nay-sayers. Note none of those negative reviewers say anything about ASKING for something or not having a verbalized complaint remedied. I come all the way from the city to get my nails done here. Nail places are a dime a dozen and saving a few bucks isn't compelling enough for me to chose one place over another- it's all about the service. Randy makes sure to it- when he's not simultaneously serving 2 happy clients, he's hopping around the shop checking on his staff and making sure the customers are comfortable and satisfied. My nails always look great and the polish consistently lasts beyond it's useful life. The techs are responsive to your requests and will chat you up if you give them some indication you're into that. Trust me, not those other review- my friends and I have migrated all over the Chicagoland area and still call X-Nails "our spot." Give this place a try- it's worth it!! read more

1st and last time here! Terrible experience. As I waked in the guy at the front told my it would be $35 for a full set, I agreed so he sat me down with one of the guys. The guy did a super rushed job(I didn't understand why the place was empty) had to constantly tell him what to fix. Ended up having to pay $40! Would never go here again read more

Best experience I've had in forever! Randy (which I found out later is the owner) greeted me right away was very tentative to my needs, made sure he related exactly what I wanted and what he recommended needed to be done to the tech. I then met with Sam who I am absolutely pleased with, he was patient and precise! I am so glad I found them and I am excited to continue to do business with them, not only was the overall experience excellent but they have a huge variety of colors, techniques and are competitive in cost. I will start by saying I've been to multiple nail salons and x nails is one of the best. I never leave disappointed with the outcome and the best thing..they don't rush! I usually get acrylics but I also have gotten a manicure & pedicure here too and it was great! UPDATED- It's only been a week and my nails were lifting and popped off very easily! Although they were very nice I'm going to assume the products they were using weren't & will not be getting them done here again. read more

I hit this place literally days before my wedding for a full set & a pedicure because it's close to where I work, and I could stop in on my way home to the city. Honestly, I just ran out of time to go to my usual haunts in the city, and they fit me in no problem on a Monday evening. The final job was a tad bit sloppy, and the employees here don't seem overly-excited about their jobs or very friendly, but I was out of there in JUST OVER AN HOUR!!! Totally the reason I'm giving 4 stars. Clean, efficient and fast - that's pretty darn good in my book!! I do recommend making an appointment, though. I believe he's the salon manager because another tech referred to him as "boss" while they were speaking earlier. First time going to this salon. Super super impressed! Such good prices too. The place is spotless. Family owned as well. Looks beautiful and luxurious inside. The workers were extremely attentive to every customer and greeted me immediately upon walking in. Such good service as well, they serviced me within minutes of walking in. I wish I could give them no stars. Hands down the worst no chip manicure I have ever gotten. Not only was the guy terrible and the manager tried to make it better by switching technician but less than 2 weeks and it's peeling and chipping. Came back for a spa pedicure the lady next to me got the same hers started before mine and ended after mine. I feel like if your not a regular here you don't get good service. I've driven past the salon on my way to work and thought I'd give it a try on my lunch hour. I showed up at 11:45, was seated for a full by 12 and was out the door by 12:35! My request was a simple punk gel fill, no polish. I was a bit skeptical because I almost felt he was too fast but I'm pretty particular on how I want my nails and watched him like a hawk! I must say, I am extremely impressed by his work! My nails are naturally very flat but he was able to create a nice natural "bump" in the middle of my nail which no one has been able to achieve for me! I was sort of nervous to come here at first, because I been trying to find a nail place I love. At first I was sort of sketched out since she was doing my nails So fast. But they were coming along well, she was a very nice lady but did go a little rough. At the end I loved how my acrylics came out. The overall place was great, the owner was so sweet and offers any guest water. Walk ins are welcome! $25 for a full set of acrylics is by far the best price in the area with the best quality. I'm a little disappointed that the fill-ins recently went from $15 to $20 now, prices have definitely risen over the past few years. I've been coming here for 4 years and I've never had a bad nail experience. The nail technicians are all good at what they do, but the owner (who is a man) that sits in the front is HANDS DOWN THE BEST AT ACRYLICS. His nail jobs outlast and outshine every other person or nail place I've gone to. They never come up or come off unless I purposely take them off. I've had sets last for 6-7 weeks without coming off (it looked like it needed to be filled in desperately, don't get me wrong, but they lasted so well!)!!!!!! The owner usually has my nails done in about half an hour and they're perfect. The color choices are decent, but there's a lot of pink and red. I never seem to find the exact color I'm in the mood for so I always end up bringing my own and they're okay with that. Main point: highly recommend if you're looking for acrylics. Ask for the owner at the front to do your nails if possible if you've ever had a bad experience. He's great. He'll change your mind. read more

They do not have the best cleanliness or hygiene standards here. The lady who did my fingernails came and used the same gloves on me that she used on a pedicure just prior and by the state of her gloves had used on many other clients. Also the towels used looked like they hadn't been changed out between clients...which only made me infer about the utensils. read more

X nails is my happy place :) I don't live in the area anymore so I took a small hiatus trying to find something closer to home, but really just ended up wasting my time. The deluxe pedicure here is ahhhhhmazing, seriously nothing compares, and for $44- how can you beat that?My mom also comes here and she gets the pink and whites which Randy is fantastic at. I'm more of a natural kind of girl, but between Helen and my prenatal vitamins, people often think they're fake. There isn't much more that I look forward to than my biweekly mani/pedis. read more

This was not a good experience at all!!!! I have been getting manicures and pedicures for years and recently wanted to try a new place. My Mom and i had deiced to try this on a Sunday afternoon for pedicures. We had to wait a bit but were finally placed in the chairs. No soap was put into the bowl to soak our feet in, which was unusual i thought. Then they tried to up sell me for a scrub, I have never in my life tried to be up sold when getting a pedicure. The Gentleman that was working there was WAY too friendly with the female customers that came in which made it very uncomfortable to be there. On top of it they made my Mother's feet bleed 3 times with out evening apologizing. Be WARNED try somewhere else!!!! read more

This place is wonderful. I have been to aLOT of nail salons over the years, and from my vast experience, you will be very hard pressed to find another salon that the very very wide variety of colored acrylic powders and no-chip manicures that Xnails has. Really. Whatever color you have in your mind, they have it. I went in a few times with ideas of unique ways to do my nails for my wedding, and they were always happy to try out whatever I suggested, even if it was a little off the wall. They have wonderful massage chairs for your pedicures, and what's nice is they don't ever make you feel rushed, and that's the last thing I want when I go get a mani/pedi. The service is great, and I tell all my friends and family to go there too. I can't say enough good things about this place. Man do I love this place! I moved to Oak Park and still drive back to Downers to come here! No-chip manicures actually last longer than two weeks without chipping and pedicures last forever! The prices are fair for the quality you're getting. All of the nail technicians are professional and good at their jobs, although Randy seems to be the most popular (I think he's the owner). Everyone I've referred here has loved it and refuses to go anywhere else. I did a walk in appointment, for my summertime mani pedi, based on the other reviews I've read here. I was very lucky that Bryan was my nail technician!!! Bryan not only gave me THE BEST calf, foot, and hand massage, he was so precise with my toe & finger nails. The cuticles on my finger nails are so thin, I usually end up getting cut a few times before the polish even goes on. However, this was not the case with Bryan. Got a pedicure from Sam which was kicked up a notch by the hot stone foot and leg massage, incredible for only $25!! Very thorough and took time to do it right. Many stations, staff interacting with customers and not talking about them (you know they do it!). Owner told me 20 min, waited about 10. Offered everyone bottled water.
