I went to get a pedicure done here this evening by Sun (who is apparently the owner) and he was EXTREMELY RUDE!!! Further, he did absolutely no cuticle work and rushed throughout the entire process. I told him I didn't like the work he did and he proceeded to laugh at me and tell me that he "has a 2 year old and a 4 year old" at home and "doesn't have time to help me". I told him I was going to leave him a negative review seeing as though this was my first time coming here and he treated me with such disdain and he then began yelling at me! Taunting me about the fact that I was going to leave him a negative review. He rushed the service, kept acting like it was an issue for me to even be there to begin with. Then told me "well you came at 6". which was the appointment time HE GAVE TO ME when I called earlier in the morning to make an appointment. He is a dishonest, unkind business man and he aggressively kept taunting me when I specifically asked him to get finished so I could pay and leave. I paid him and left and then he stood in the doorway and took a picture of my license plate, further indicating his tendencies for violence which was absolutely uncalled for considering I had already paid and left the establishment without any issue. To taunt a NEW customer like that just because I said I would leave this review is 100% unacceptable. Sun is aggressive and gets angry with customers when they tell him they do not like the work he or his shop has done. He doesn't even deserve this 1 star that was given in this review. This is something other customers who plan to go here should definitely know about. Due to his aggressive nature I have alerted the Downers Grove Police Department regarding his conduct, particularly in that he took a picture of my license plate with the intent to cause harm. I'm only giving it 2 stars because they actually do a good job with manis. as far as why i give it a bad rating is because of customer service and how they run their business. I walked in here a total of maybe 5 times, one of them was for my wedding!! I was hoping this would be my to go 2 place but I was left with disappointment when they rejected me, not once but twice! I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but when they did it again, i was like hell no!! They claim that they close at 8 pm, The first time i walked in was for manis at 7 pm, ok it was close to closing time but there was no one in there and they said no! I figured they closed early for emergency reason but anyways, the last time I walked in there was few weeks ago, was going on vacay and I needed both Mani/Pedi, I walked in there at 6 pm!! that's 2 hours before closing, 1 customer already being worked on, they said no we can't, no explanation, nothing!! If you're going to run a business, run it right or don't run it at all, you don't wanna work late, then change your working hours, but don't decline customers because you just don't feel like doing you freaking job! never will I EVER return, i'd rather do my own nails than having to hear another "no" from this business. read more

I've been reading a lot of negative comments about this place, I just have to say I love this place. My mom started bringing me here when I was a child and now it's the only place I go. A LOT of places can't give me what I want nail wise and I will typically rip off the fake nails because of it. I have OCD about my nails when they aren't straight, super chunky or aren't shaped correctly; and these guys nail it every time. My nails are always perfect when I leave this place! I have never been cut by these nail techs and anytime I have anything to request with my nails, if they CAN do it, they WILL. The price isn't outrageous, and they always are able to get me in and out with fabulous nails! I only have anything positive to say about them after all these years of business. read more

Recently moved to the suburbs and looking for a new place. Really quiet. Quick service. Best thing so far is that they use disposable liners for pedicure bowl. The nail equipment is steamed after each use which is always something I look out for. Color selection is not too bad. It is a very small shop with just the basics but they are friendly and seem clean. I received a pedicure and it was really basic. Good cleaning of cuticles but that's all they really focused on. read more

I've been going here and Chico's been doing my gel nails for *15* years (I got acrylics in the beginning, been getting gel for maybe 5 years now. Chico is the BEST. Always does a beautiful job, always very careful. He even remembers when I've used a nail color before-and I always switch colors. When Chico isn't able to, his brother Twon will do my gel fill-ins. Twon is also great. Chico's wife Jennie will do my polish occasionally, she is also great. It's very clean here, I always see tools soaking in disinfectant. I have never once had any trouble due to unsanitized tools. When I had to use another nail salon when Chico and staff were out of town, I got an infection. I'll never go anywhere else. And Twon does outstanding nail art-freehand! read more

this is my regular nail salon and i have to say, if it wasn't for Chico i don't know how this place would still be open. he usually does my nails and he does a very nice job. today however, he was busy so i had the other woman working do my nails. she was one of the rudest people i had encountered in a while and for no reason at all. she did a nice job on my nails but the whole experience was poor. definitely would not have her do my nails again just for this reason alone. i wish they would update the place or even hand towels for after you wash your hands would be nice. this place is less than average at best. read more

Stopped here for my first time last night. Jennie did my no chip mani, regular pedi, and eyebrow wax. She is really nice and talkative. Jennie ensured that she understood what I wanted and helped me pick out colors. I will definitely go back in 2 weeks for the removal and a new no chip. If my review changes I will update! Do not waste your time and money here. Similar to the other negative reviews for Xclusive Nails, I can testify that the work they did on my manicure was excruciatingly painful. The woman who gave me a pedicure was done within two minutes, showed no effort, and she refused to paint my nails the color I wanted because the color was not to HER liking! There was no cleanup around my cuticles- I had to remove the excess polish around my nails at home. And there were so many smudges and chips in my pedicure that I had to wipe it off. Horrific service. Rude employees. Not worth the expense. read more

Let me start off with saying Lynn's Nails on Ogden Avenue in Downers Grove is an amazing nail salon. They have no chip pedicures for $30 and no chip manicures for $25 Monday-Wednesday. They always do a wonderful job, and they are so kind. They were packed with business at the time I needed a pedicure, so I decided to go to Xclusive Nails nearby. This is the first negative review I have ever written for any business. I usually simply allow the universe to take care of people who are mean or rude to me, rather than saying anything further to hurt someone's business. However, the treatment I received has warranted a review in order to let other people know who they are going to see before spending their money. I went to get a pedicure to relax and be in a kind and welcoming environment. That was certainly not the service I was given. Aside from the flies all around the salon and the cockroach I saw in the bathroom, the lady (I believe named Jennie) was rude the entire time. It was as if she couldn't be bothered, and yet I was the only patron in there. As humans, I understand people can have bad days, or I understand they're simply unhappy with themselves; so I do believe it was the latter in this case. Jennie had been rude to me the several other times I had gone there, and I had dismissed it as she was having a bad day because I have compassion for people. Now that it's been repetitive behavior, I do believe she must not like herself that much to be disrespectful to another human being the way she was, especially one who is giving them business and is being friendly to her. Aside from Jennie being a mean girl, the services were poor and unprofessional. For the lack of a better term, ghetto is a good word to describe the services. After sitting in the massage chair for the first part of the pedicure (which the chair was high quality and very nice, so I'll give them that!), I was taken to a regular chair in which Jennie had me put my feet up on a mini garbage can for my nails to be painted. Not only this, the garbage can was not stationary, as it kept shifting with the weight of my body. That being said, it was rather uncomfortable as I had to sit with balance and strength to keep the garbage can from shifting as she painted my nails. Since business is tough, I understand they must not have the money to buy the necessary tools for a standard nail salon. Jennie treated me with disrespect when I moved my foot out too quickly from the light box. She clearly showed her frustration towards me, almost like a child would. She had no understanding for my position and discomfort of the positioning. Jennie had only snide, passive aggressive remarks towards me. She was certainly not loving or kind or sweet. She was demanding with her instructions, dismissive of my discomfort, and after awhile it became personal the way she was speaking to me. Her attitude and behavior was uncalled for. The only true sincerity I felt was her annoyance; that I wasn't putting my feet up quickly enough for her and that I was accidentally taking them out a couple seconds too early from the light box. She also commented negatively on my body as she has in the past; pointing out my flaws in a coy, childlike way, as if I couldn't read through those remarks. She was loud and clear with her rudeness and must've thought I was that stupid not to have picked up on it. I understand it's simply a deep insecurity in herself, and it really has nothing to do with me. I pray for Jennie that one day she loves herself so she doesn't feel the need to put other people down in order to feel better. It's embarrassing for her as she doesn't realize she's only broadcasting to everyone that she is unhappy with herself. Treating people the way you would like to be treated is something we learn growing up, but since Jennie is much older she must have missed that window of time to learn about kindness and compassion. Although it's never too late, and I do believe in people. Lastly, the nails chipped after 4 hours. Luckily, Lynn's Nails on Odgen Avenue in Downers Grove say they're always happy to fix my nails since I give them so much business. I will be returning to where people are kind and where the nails don't chip. read more

I so mad and I highly disappointed with how terrible this place was. I'm actually still here writing this review, from all the reviews I hoped it would be my new nails spot but there is no way now. This is DEFINITELY going to be my last toke coming here! 1. I was getting my toes done and the women had the nerve to tell me the color was ugly! 2. I'm getting my fill done and it's took him 15 minutes to do the fill and paint them. 3. He made me bleed on 4 FINGERS are you kidding me!!! 4. I have serious doubts about the sanitation of this salon. Illinois sanitation code explicitly states that emery boards, buffer blocks, pumice stones, etc. must be disposed of after each use since they can't be properly disinfected. The emery board used to file my nails was absolutely NOT new, as it had visible wear. When he reached for a used buffer block and was preparing to rub it across my BLOODY toe nail (because he had cut the cuticle too short) I stopped him and asked that he get a new one. He did, without hesitation, but I shouldn't have had to ask. He then pointed out, during my manicure, that the new buffer block was going to feel very rough since it was new. Um, legally they're ALWAYS supposed to be new, maybe you should be buying a finer grit since they're not supposed to last weeks? I won't nix a nail salon just because they nick my cuticle; every salon I've ever been to after enough visits will inevitably cut too close and leave me bleeding. But this was ridiculous. I walked out the door after that mani/pedi with SIX out of 10 fingers having a line of dried blood along my nail bed and four of 10 toes. He also couldn't draw a french line upside down, so nearly twisted my elbow out of the socket so he could hold my finger the way he wanted to. The final product (minus the sore and possibly soon to be infected nail beds) was okay. He cut my nails shorter than I asked and did the 'trick' where he ran polish along the outer edge of the nail, leaving globs of paint UNDER my nail, which I haven't been able to remove since it was a no-chip manicure. He also forgot to do the final wipe down of one finger, so I got home to realize it was dull and sticky. Luckily I've had the no chip enough times before to know I could wipe it down with nail polish remover myself and didn't have to drive back. Bottom line: I won't be returning. Definitely not worth the $65. read more

I had been going to a Chinese nail place in town for a while, and had no issues with them. But one day I wanted a pedicure- and, as usual, it was pretty last-minute. The JK Nails was busy and couldn't fit me in, so I ended up giving Xclusive Nails a try. The pedi was great. Jenny is very friendly and their pricing is competitive. A few months later I decided to get acrylic nails again and went back to Xclusive. Chico does the acrylics and he is FABULOUS! I can't beleive how detailed he is and also how FAST he can do fill-ins. I used to have to spend 1 hr.+ in the salon when I first had acrylics. Chico can finish the set in about 25 minutes! Yay...I'm a fan! read more

The most horrible mani/pedi i have ever had. Pedicure chairs did not massage, no foot rub with pedicure or hand rub with manicure. No cuticle oil for either mani or pedi. Manicure chipped within 24 hours. Lady who did my pedicure kept using the F word. Did not find it very professional. Several people left since they were under staffed. And I question how sterile they equipment was the guy who did my manicure kept spraying tools with alcohol. Emory and buffing boards were used. Overall a terrible experience will NEVER go back or recommend this place to anyone!!!! Can't believe they are still in business. read more

Best nail salon I have ever been to. I've been coming here for probably 2 years now. My no-chip manicure always lasts at least 2 weeks and the technicians truly care about making your nails look perfect. Jennie is so sweet and funny, and she is amazing at her job. My regular polish pedicures last about 2 months before even starting to chip! My feet are also perfectly smooth and callous-free after receiving a pedicure from Jennie. Twan (spelling?) and Chico are also good, but Jennie is my girl. Make sure to call and make an appointment because this place is usually busy. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I never had a pedicure before, but a friend invited me to go so I figured why not. Big mistake at this place. As I am talking with my friend I notice a sharp pain in my left middle toe. It was bleeding. The lady buffing my toenail wasn't paying attention and cut my toe right on the cuticle. It stung like crazy. All she did was say sorry with no empathy. Neither her or the manager offered any kind of discount, coupon for next time, or anything. 25 bucks to get cut and bleed for my first pedicure is ridiculous. They even messed up my friend's nail polish job. Stay away from this place like the plague. read more
