Fan Tuan (rice burrito) is a personal favorite of mine and I'm so glad there is yet another establishment specializing in this delicious snack/meal! Xiaoman Riceburrito opens early for the breakfast crew and serves just a few items so you know their offerings are going to be top notch and made fresh. What helps them stand out from the rest of their competitors is their options starting from the type of rice to the inner ingredients, each combination creating a whole different experience for your mouth. When ordering, consider the type of rice. White will have a more glutinous texture and sweeter taste while the purple rice gives off a heartier consistency and more richer flavor. I prefer the purple rice but for the traditionalists, white rice is the way to go. If you're craving for more texture to your bite, get the crunchy version which includes crispy onion, beans, pickled veggies, crispy dough and braised eggs. The original flavor on the flip side, has pork floss so if you're looking for more umami with your fan tuan, you won't be disappointed! The rice exterior is soft and moist and as you get to the center, the flavor simply bursts out steaming through. For the price, they do seem pretty small but accounting for the richness of the flavors, source of the ingredients, and quality of preparation, it does seem rather fair. For hydration, their soy milk and soy milk with black tea are fantastic options. The soy milk isn't too sweet and when paired in a combo with the rice burrito, make a fairly priced meal. We ordered the meal as a takeout and they had everything we needed all packed up and ready to go. Straws for our drinks, napkins for the food, and all the burritos wrapped up tightly and labeled for our whole party to enjoy! A great to-go experience! Overall, Xiaoman Riceburrito will fill you up with a good balance of flavors and textures. For those that are on the go, this is a great place to pick up your meal. You'll get a taste of the traditional Taiwanese snack in one of the food Meccas of the Bay Area!

Expensive compared to Asia but they do it well here so I guess it's worth it. However, I would not get their soy milk. It's like $5-6 and super watery and mediocre

Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 I didn't realize it doesn't have seating, but otherwise a cute spot with quick and easy ordering and pickup. There wasn't any staff upfront since you can just order on the ipad, but if you are picking up you ring a bell on the counter and staff comes out immediately. Food was decent -- it got a little messy and I don't love that it was wrapped in plastic wrap, but flavors were decent. We couldn't tell the difference between the crunchy and the non-crunchy purple rice burrito, my crunchy burrito had soft purple rice and a crunchy thing inside, maybe an overfried 油条 (dough stick)?but the non-crunchy wrap had a similar crunch inside. It was hard to tell on the menu if when you select add pork floss, it adds extra pork floss to the original amount or if without adding pork floss, it would have zero pork floss. I liked the pork floss, but my partner found it a bit dry and overwhelming (in terms of overwhelming other flavors and textures). A bit pricey for what it is but overall a nice place to grab a quick bite!

If you want traditional Taiwanese breakfast rice ball, this is the place! The rice ball reminded me of Taiwan, it was very crunchy and tasty. It had marinated egg, Taiwanese pickles, Youtiao, and nori crispy bits inside. One complaint is that the portion is kind of small for its price, but glad I found this place. Will probably return

Got the crunchy rice roll with purple rice. It was delicious. Comes with egg fried dough, Taiwanese vegetables, and I added pork floss. Definitely on the pricey end for breakfast, but it's SF pricing so maybe that is the norm. Very classic Taiwanese breakfast food. Service fast casual takeout Ambience take out orders

Filling, delicous breakfast on the go. Purple rice, pork, saurkraut, other goodness wrapped up in a portable little flavor bomb. Note that these are smaller than "mexican" burritos - about the size of my hand. But still very filling! The soy milk tea is also different than what you can usually order at boba places but it's the perfect drink to wash down the burrito with. Logistics: - no seating indoor or outdoor, takeout only - limited street parking in front

These little man rice burrito fantuans sure are tasty! We stopped by here for a Sunday lunch and it was quite busy. It's a small grab and go place with no tables or seats inside for dine-in, so we took our rice burrito to a nearby park to enjoy. We got the Crunchy Purple Rice Burrito. The first thing you'll notice is that it's quite small -- it barely measures as a 6-incher in length! Yes it's quite GIRTHY but $10 for that length was a bit disappointing. The first bite bust a symphony of savory Szechuan seasoning, crispy fried Chinese dough, and crunchy pickled veggies in my mouth! Unlike other fantuans I've tried this is definitely a more flavorful and well-seasoned one. The purple rice exterior is sturdy and keeps everything together neatly. Parking wasn't difficult with a spacious parking lot in the plaza. Would come back the next time I'm craving more fantuan!

Xiaoman definitely fills a void in the Bay Area for Taiwanese breakfast options. I really appreciate that they have a veggie option as well! Hopefully they can open a spot in SF ;). We ordered the purple rice crunchy burrito combo. Fillings included were: crispy onion, nori crispy bean, sauerkraut, pickled radish, youtiao, and a braised egg. You also get a cup of soymilk as part of the combo. The rice to filling ratio was a bit off; there was just a bit too much rice and I thought the youtiao was over-fried. I know they want it to be super crunchy, but I actually think it would taste a bit better with some gluten left in it. Also could've used more pickled veggies. The braised egg was a nice touch. Service was quick and it's takeout only, so you'll have to eat in your car or bring it somewhere else. Overall, it's an ok fantuan and I'd come back just to support more Taiwanese businesses (especially ones with veggie options!).

It was pretty cool seeing a fantuan spot in the Bay Area! I haven't had one of these since traveling in Asia. I got the crunchy purple-riceburrito ($8.99) and really enjoyed the variety of textures and flavors. Price is a bit steep for what it is. This fantuan included purple rice, nori crispy bean, pickled veggies, youtiao, braised egg, and crispy onion. I chose to add "mild spicy" which consisted of a spicy chili mix (chili, white sesame, peanut, sichuan peppercorn). The spice was barely noticeable but it was still nice to have a hint of it. I ordered online ahead of time and picked it up. Order was ready very quickly. The store does not have any seating. Ordering is done on a kiosk and staff from the back will assemble the fantuan and bring it out to you.

I ordered the original rice burrito and it was sooooo yummy! They're about $8/ea and pretty filling for a snack. It's savory and umami! So many different textures as well. There's a small lot, so be prepared for parking wars. When you enter the store, there isn't any seating available. You orders at a kiosk, and the service is quite fast. Will definitely visit again when I'm in the area :)

When I am in the area, this is definitely one of my favorite to go spots! I am a fan of their rice burritos -- it is a perfect blend and combo of rice, meat floss, preserved veggies and egg. Delicious and tasty! The staff is friendly and the wait time can be long. Be prepared to wait. I would recommend ordering in advance if you want to avoid a long wait time. Glad to have found this place -- what a gem! The wait times can be long but worth the wait!

Take-out only, no seating available. Ordered the original white rice burrito + soy milk combo. I accidentally ordered the soy milk black tea, and they were super kind to switch it out for the regular soy milk for me. I was pretty impressed with my original rice burrito! I loved how the you tiao (deep fried breadstick) was crispy, as sometimes it can be chewy and hard to bite off in rice burritos. That was definitely my favorite part. The soy milk was ok, on the bland side and needed more flavor in my opinion. I also felt like prices were a bit steep and the rice burrito was pretty small for the price. I would come back again if I have the craving since I feel like there aren't many Taiwanese rice burrito places in the bay.

I love it here. If I could eat the fan tuans here every day I would. I have been ordering delivery often while working from home. My go-to order is the purple crunchy rice burrito with soy milk. It's nutritious, filling and healthy. It stimulates digestion because of the fresh ingredients and pickles from Taiwan. I have been to Taiwan twice and it is food heaven there. Xiaoman provides meals that are authentically Taiwanese. They remind me of the breakfast you can find walking down the street along Taiwan-- fresh soy milk everywhere. Xiaoman is one of the few places with authentic Taiwanese food in the Bay Area. It's hard to find good ones. The price point is not bad for the Bay Area. I believe they try to keep prices low and give a lot within the fan tuan itself. The shop itself is very clean and you can also order in person. Service is pretty quick and they are often busy here. I get delivery quite often here!

I was attempting to pick them up with chopsticks and they would just break into pieces. They do give a decent amount of beef though in this. 2.5/5* for the flavor but don't expect much from the noodles. Same thing went for the works, it was a peanut buttery sauce that the lady claimed wasn't spicy, but my parents noticed that it had a kick to it even though they asked for it not to be spicy.
