Honestly one of the worst companies to ever exist. Your job is to provide internet and TV and you so nothing but f*ck it up. I scheduled a move a week in advance and it still took 4 hours on the phone to get someone to come out days later. Tech support comes out and spends 4 HOURS working on the service, with someone else rewiring everything in the house. Worked for less than half a day. Spent another 2 hours on the phone only to get a tech out to spend 3 hours and not resolve s*it. If I could rate this trash company a zero I would. Worst ever...equipment is junk, technicians are untrained and the local outlet has I knowledgeable employees. Incoming/Wi-Fi modem lasts about a year before crapping out. First you have to cycle power every two months or so but after a while it's every couple of days. Customer support says to keep doing it, then admit they cant troubleshoot intermittent problems. Store will give you a new one after a lengthy go round and you get to spend a day setting it up and re-passwording all of your home automation devices. Please, try your best to avoid it. I can't believe I was forced to pay a $90 charge for a lost device that I have NEVER bought!! My previous roommate open the account and rent the device two years ago. He was always fully in charge of it and I gave my part to him every month. In May this year he left the state for 2 months and asked me to help him pay the bill. I did. This September when I moved and tried to open a new account Comcast told me that I was the one who is now responsible for the account in my old apartment ,and ask me to return the old device. My roommate left the country already and I have no idea where the device was now. At first I tried to explain and ask them to show me any proof that I've ever rent a device, (of course Comcast doesn't have any ) but they just refused to answer any of my questions and insisting there is a record in their system. (But they could not even give any specific time) As I refused to pay for something I never bought they started to call me everyday during working hour and made me MAD! Finally I couldn't bear it and paid the 90 bucks charge for the lost device. I wished those troubles would be gone once I paid the charge. But several weeks later I started to receive calls regarding the lost device from Comcast again. This time they spelled my name wrong and believed I was another customer who should responsible for another lost device. Their customer service is the rudest and most unprofessional one I've ever meet in my life. Their efficiency is low. They tend to make stupid mistakes that beyond your imagination. BTW, their internet quality was so suck and extremely not stable. I have to restart my brand new device nearly everyday to make sure it works at a normal speed. In your moment of brilliance, I am now basically stuck with Comcast. Their franchise rights "represent the value we attributed to agreements with state and local authorities that allow access to homes and businesses in cable service areas acquired in business combinations." Thanks to this indefinitely ability to generate business because consumers really have no other alternatives, Comcast is one of the shadiest and frankly, unethical, company I have ever seen. 1. Hidden packages. If you go to any Comcast website, you'll find their packages. Of course, it's arranged with the more expensive Digital Starter and Digital Economy on top, with the cheapest option, basic cable, on the bottom. But there is an additional unadvertised option: Family Tier. Would you know about this from the main website when you order your products? Absolutely not? So what are the other hidden options? I came across "Expanded Basic Tier" under their channel line up page. Is that a singular package much like Digital Economy or basic? Absolutely not. Why? Digital Preferred = Expanded Basic + Other Stuff. So why have Expanded Basic when you clearly can't order it? 2. Comcast Modem. If you purchased your own modem and it gets taken away by the Comcast technician, it's your fault. Why? Because you were supposed to supervise the technician. Never mind that they're getting paid for their job and that their salary comes from the installation and other fees. But you should make sure that they don't take your modem. In my world, taking something that doesn't belong to you should be considered theft. In Comcast's world, if someone steals something from you, well, you should have known better. 3. If you want digital tv, you need to pay for the equipment. If you want internet, you have to pay Comcast $7 modem fee. That is, unless you go out and purchase a modem of your own. In that case, this fee is waived. However, if you want digital cable, you have to get it through their digital box, which comes with a hefty remote. Granted, the price they charge for a giant box + remote is $2 per month. But is there an alternative to this arrangement? Absolutely not! Not if you want cable. It's not that most of us can't afford $2, but rather the principle behind this. Why force someone to pay for the necessary equipment for cable? Maybe it should be built into the price, maybe not. 4. Should you need to dispute a bill, set aside at least a few hours spread over a few days. You'll be transferred through a plethora of department by a bunch of people. Bureaucracy at it's (almost-Massachusetts) finest. read more

For some reason they can't just shut off the service and start up my account. And I can't even get free internet because Comcast can detect my different modem. All of Comcast is just HORRIBLE. There aren't enough words in the English dictionary to describe how horrendous their customer service is. They need to have consistency in what they tell their customers otherwise they just seem like a bunch of liars. The person over the phone told me that they "could not verify my ID" which is a load of crap considering I gave them my SSN number. Then they said we would have to pay $45 for the technician to come so he could "check my ID." That is such BS. They said we could try to go to the Comcast center to have them verify the ID and give us the equipment so we could install it ourselves. When I went to the comcast center, the woman at the counter said she has never in her life heard of an ID verification fee and that she could not give us the equipment unless we cancelled our appointment over the phone. Comcast is so horrible that I switched to with the more expensive and (supposedly) slower DSL from Verizon. They sell you a certain rate then give you a much, much slower one. The connection to the cable modem cuts out all the time. The speed is inconsistent - one minute it will be 15Mbps, the next it will be 0.5Mbps or cut out entirely for a few minutes. If you watch a movie on Netflix or another Internet video service it gets slowed down or has to stop and buffer in the middle. They basically lie about their charges, change them all the time, and slap you with weird fines, fees, and rate hikes. Customer service is so abysmal that it really feels like they are out to punish you for some unknown transgression, like the worst passive-aggressive housemate. Except that Comcast is better at making you feel like shit. It's worth a big sacrifice (no or slow internet) to avoid getting such a bunch of assholes in your life. I would highly recommend STAYING AWAY FROM XFINITY! We were promised a $200 prepaid Visa gift card in exchange for switching from Verizon. We switched from Verizon and filled out all the paperwork necessary, but guess what? No gift card! That was a year and a half ago. After months of phone calls and emails I am giving up on ever getting that gift card and giving up on XFINITY too. Time to switch back to Verizon. Verizon delivers faster internet connection speeds anyway so for anyone shopping for cable/internet/phone access for the first time I would recommend going with Verizon. Comcast has been abusing its monopoly power in Nashua for years. Here's what to expect: Once your "teaser" rate for new customers runs out, your rate is going to go up. A lot. Then you can expect it to inch up every month to two months, as they add on made-up "fees", which are really just rate increases. Service appointments that are mysteriously not kept. Usually (they say) because they tried to call you and you didn't answer. In my book, if you can't reach someone to confirm an appointment, you show up anyway. That's why it's called an "appointment," not "ditch the customer if they miss a phone call for some reason." If you don't get a receipt for every piece of equipment you return, and keep an eye on your bill, you can expect to be billed for it ad infinitum. There's an excellent chance that any request you make of a customer service rep on the phone will be bungled somehow. And when they bungle it, somehow it always works out that Comcast makes more money. What a coincidence. Oddly enough, all of the service guys in the trucks seem to be sane, intelligent human beings who care about doing their jobs. It's too bad everything else about the company is so excruciatingly rotten. Otherwise the service guys might have been able to pull Comcast's rating out of one-star territory. Bottom line: I've never given more money to a company that I dislike so intensely. In the presence of any actual competition, Comcast would be out of business in a heartbeat. read more

As a customer going back to 2007 through multiple accounts for bundled services, Comcast USED to provide competent customer service, competitive prices, timely application of customer payments, and customer retention was a priority. However, during my recent two year contract, the pricing was appreciably more than their competition for the same package, they'd sit on check payments for weeks while sending emails threatening late fees and service cutoffs, they made me lie routinely to their automated phone system by claiming I wanted to buy additional services or close my account as the only ways to reach a live person, lied about calling me back about the possibility of continuing my contract price past 24 months, suggested I trim my fixed income budget in order to afford their services, and apparently lied about the end date of my service in order to charge me for an additonal 8 days after the service was gone. This despite giving them notice almost a month before contract end of my decision to change service providers the day my paid up contract expired. I will add that as an elderly person living only on modest savings, the Comcast rep. who signed me up in 2020 professed no knowledge of the then Emergency Broadband Benefit for which I qualified, costing me a total of $400 in missed credits over 8 months. In fairness, it's likely most of this was incompetence rather than lying, but the end result was the same. There were a couple very helpful employees at their local store to which I returned rented equipment, and one on the phone who credited out the charges based on the bogus service disconnection date, but even the store employees couldn't provide me with a proper receipt for my equipment return due to incompetence by others within the central account maintenance system. The store employees helpfully signed an itemized receipt which I composed and provided, for which I am grateful to them. Unfortunately, the competent and helpful Comcast/Xfinity employees are overwhelmed by a company now so big that caring about its customers is sadly a thing of the past. read more

Easily one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. Their website is impossible to navigate. They make it possible (though not easy) to upgrade your service online, but impossible to compare various combinations or downgrade. There are all sorts of hidden fees. The worst, though, is that they've just encrypted all of their basic digital cable. That means you have to use *their* cable boxes and *their* digital video recorders. That makes my EyeTV 250 a very expensive paperweight. It also means I can no longer export TV to my iPod an watch on the plane, which used to make my frequent flying a bit more pleasant. I've used comcast internet in Texas, Utah, and here in Derry. This is the flakiest service I've had since those days in the early 80's when rain would make the cable go out. The TV cable works fine, but the internet goes out for hours at a time. When they installed ours last December, they turned off our neighbor's service by accident. When they came out and fixed it, ours began to glitch. I used the online chat to address the issue, and was told that my modem was obsolete, and that it should be replaced. It's a comcast-supplied modem, installed the month before. We took the modem to the office, and they said, "This is the only one we use, it's not obsolete." They scheduled a service call. A crew came out and determined that the modem was fine - they still install them everywhere, and that my signal to noise ratio was not good. They worked for about an hour, and then things were fine. I can live with an outage for a couple of hours each month - I have a wireless modem I can use when it's down. But lately it's been worse. The frequency and length of outage is increasing. I look at the front panel of the modem, and it's not connected to the internet. I used the live chat with a simulated live bot again. I guess I am fascinated to see what they try to pass off as live. The conversation is just almost sprinkled with ads. It's full of stock phrases - you've seen it. They wanted to try to troubleshoot it and then monitor it for 24 hours. I just said no, I want to schedule a service call, and they set one up for tomorrow morning. And then when I called the next morning to see where they were, I found that the appointment was for the afternoon. sheesh. Where I live, Comcast is the only internet service available other than DSL. We can't get FIOS. As soon as I can, I will. It's my belief that the comcast techs are competent, but the network administrators can't deliver the service level that I got in other regions of the country. read more

For a company that has been in the business of providing Internet services as long as these guys have, it's hard to believe how terrible their Internet service is. I live in a 450 square foot apartment and have a router that works probably less than 50% of time. It has to constantly be moved around the apartment to ensure that it is as close as possible to the device it is providing wireless internet for. Plus, this is the third router I've had in 2 years and does not improve service at all. This company monopolizes an area, overcharges it's customers by insisting they buy plans they don't need and yet provides slow connection speeds and constantly spotty wireless. For the monthly price that I pay, it's infuriating how unreliable the service is. Poor quality products, crappy Internet service and a complete rip-off of a price. We scheduled installation and they gave us the usual four hour window bullspit...you know, because in this day and age it's real convenient to take a day off to hang out with the goram cable guy. Fifteen minutes after the four hours was up Comcast calls to say the guy isn't coming. No sh*t. So I should put away the tea and cookies? They rescheduled for the next day and this dude rolls in with no wireless box. What did you fall out of a time machine? This is a two floor apartment, how the heck did you think we were gonna set this up? The roomies said he was a nice guy though, so, there's that. There is pretty much no point in reviewing Comcast. When I have a bad experience with a company, I like to write a review illustrating the suckiness of said company, therefore protecting others from mistakenly starting a business-customer relationship with them. However, in the case of Comcast, they basically have a monopoly on cable/internet/phone service in many areas of Boston. In my apartment, I literally have no other option except to get a satellite dish, which I am far too lazy to do. Upon moving into my new apartment, I gleefully called RCN, ready to free myself from the chains of Comcast oppression. Woefully, RCN was not available in my location. And so another year of ridiculously poor customer service and spotty cable and internet service begins. The only thing that works reliably is the home phone line, which I do not use at all, I simply have it because the stupid "3-for" deal is cheaper than buying only cable and internet. So as I am constantly reminded that my home phone line is working by the frequent telemarker calls, I beat my head against the wall talking to various unhelpful Comcast customer service reps trying to figure out why my internet is off or I am only getting certain random channels. And if I am paying fifty dollars more than the basic plan to get a few basic cable channels (I need TLC and Discovery!), I damn well better be getting them. Phew. Don't get me starting on switching your account to a new apartment or scheduling an appointment with them. Stay away from Comcast if you can, but if you can't, I share your pain. read more

While the employees are nice enough- the mobile department is a mess. I tried to switch from Verizon to Comcast. I placed an order for 3 iPhone 11's and 3 lines. They canceled the order twice- even after I supplied the passport and pg&e bill they requested for documentation. When I called to ask what they were looking for, they said utility bill and photo Id. At this point 22 days have passed since my initial order. I told them I needed the phones/ lines urgently, and asked if they could tell me why my identity review kept getting denied. I'm the end, I just canceled and ordered the phones and line through Verizon - 10 min phone call and phones arrived in two days. Guess Comcast didn't want my business? read more

I stopped calling into Comcast and have been going to Comcast Office-Nashua. The employee are very helpful and competent unlike their phone support. Sadly, Comcast as a corporation provides a horrible service. 1.) Turned off my internet because there was "noise" coming from my 6 unit complex. They failed to notify me too and I spent more time than I wanted working with their tech support. 2.) Their tech support tried to sell me a bigger bundle in return to fixing my services. 3.) I have called multiple times with complains and they still have not resolved my issues. 4.) I pay for 25mbps download speeds but I only get 6mbps speeds. 5.) They advertise the 25mbps for $53.95. I am charged $66.95 + 6.00 for my modem. I been a Comcast customer for 10 years. And this past year their service has been going down the drain. I'm seriously considering Fairpoint. read more
