Called XFINITY customer service on 1/3/2017 to log a complaint about spotty internet and cable service. 1. Waited on the phone for 40 minutes and was told I would be called back, never received the call. 2. Finally called back again and spoke with someone else who created a ticket to have a tech come out to diagnose issue. 3. Tech came by and saw that the original tech who set up the modem and DVR boxes hadn't screwed in the cables properly so the signal has been compromised from the beginning (2 years, supposed to be highest quality connectivity and has been on and off spotty) 4. Called in and asked for a credit and was told the cables not having been screwed in tightly enough was my fault and they wouldn't offer me more than 15 dollars. Terrible customer service, reps as well as supervisors have poor attitude. Only bright spot was the service tech who came out to residence, he was a bright guy and friendly/courteous. I was Xfinity for two and a half years in my Boston apartment. While I started at the promotional rate of $40/month I was paying $95 at my second anniversary. Is the service improving that much to have affected a more than 100% increase? Also when I went to cancel my service due to a move, I first spoke with someone who was trying to push for me transferring my service to whoever was going to be taking over. That they would offer them a good rate of $65/month, $30 less than what I was spending. I was confused at first and then peeved that they'd have the audacity to try to both use me to help them get a better better rate with the new tenant and also tell me Id been paying at least $30 more than what I couldve been paying. I should've just hung in though because at least that guy seemed the least bit competent. The next agent I spoke with said I needed to wait 15 minutes on the line to cancel my service. When I questioned this, they told me that they need my consent throughout the process, and I reiterated that I gave them my consent, which is in all other world scenarios a one-time process. That they can cancel my service and follow up with an email confirming cancellation. She said as an alternative they can do this by email but it'll now take 3 days for me to receive a response. When I questioned the discrepancy between 15 minutes and 3 days, she couldnt give me a straight answer. I asked to speak to a manager and they asked why. I told them I didnt trust that my request was being taken seriously or that it would be fulfilled as requested, which was to remain online for the duration of the month. Turns out I was unfortunately right. They cancelled my service the same day, leaving me 14 days without internet. I wasn't going to call back after that. Abominable customer service. The high end plans perform badly and they scale down your plan/ increased my plan costs every year. They also don't let you see actual cost information from the website if you want to scale down your previous plan. Comcast/Xfinity: 20+ Years of Loyalty, Zero Respect for My Time: God help you if you ever need technical service from Comcast. Yesterday my TV cable box stopped working, so I called to schedule a technician. I was given an appointment for July 13 between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM. To be safe, I called again at 9:00 AM the morning of the appointment to confirm everything was still on schedule. The representative assured me there were no issues and that the technician would arrive between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM. No technician. No phone call. No text. At 12:30 PM, I called Comcast again. After explaining the entire situation, I was told the appointment had simply been delayed and that the technician would now arrive between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. I was also promised I would receive a text when the technician was on the way. Once again... No technician. No phone call. No text. At 4:30 PM, I bypassed customer service and asked to speak directly with a supervisor. Instead of apologizing or trying to resolve the issue, I was told something unbelievable: according to their system, I never had an appointment scheduled for today. Really? Then why did multiple Comcast representatives confirm the appointment earlier that morning and again at 12:30 PM? Silence. This is exactly what has become so frustrating about Comcast. They consistently overpromise and underdeliver, with little regard for their customers' time. I've been a loyal customer for more than 20 years and pay over $300 every month for Comcast services. After that kind of loyalty, I shouldn't have to spend an entire day waiting for technicians who never show up, receiving promises that are never kept, and then being told my appointment never existed. Non Existent Customer Service The product itself is good. Some of the practices and customer service are awful. I lost my entire Outlook address book as a result. Xfinity just sent me an email stating that my password had changed and that if it wasn't me that changed it, to call 1 800 New Delhi. So, I now can't access my email and I'm thinking I've been hacked. I log in to my Xfinity account to find that they've disabled my password and that I need to create a new one for security purposes, which I did. Now I have to reset my Microsoft account also as the two are tied together. Would it be too much to ask to send an email stating that it's time to reset your password for security purposes and please take the following steps? After calling 1 800 New Delhi and going through phone menu Hell, I'm now on hold with with an Xfinity rep waiting for assistance with changing my Outlook password. The assistant "Mary" is obviously speaking through an AI translator because I can hear people speaking in Hindi or Farsi which immediately changes to English, filters any accent and changes voice intonation which in and of itself is super irritating. While holding for an "email specialist", Mary is trying to upsell me on a different plan (seriously?!) 30:15 minutes later, AI translated email specialist, "Phil" picks up and is happy to help me change my Xfinity password.... Phil couldn't grasp what had happened and the fact hat I needed help with OUTLOOK, not XFINITY. Phil later mentioned that if I was having Outlook problems that I should call Outlook.... I've been having problems for the past few months with intermittent connection issues. I've had many phone calls and chats with various reps and NO ONE LISTENS TO ANYTHING THE CUSTOMER HAS TO SAY!! I told them repeatedly that something was wrong with their main line. I got ignored. They'd send a refresh signal to my device and call it a day. I finally was able to get a tech out her to look at it and they replace the line from the pole to my house amd left. Issues continued. I called again. Same tech came out and redid the wiring from the exterior of the house to the modem. The issue persisted. Called again. Now they sent out a senior tech to take a look. This tech said it's an issue at the pole and that many people in my area were having the same issue. There was something wrong with it. They called a bucket truck to come out to fix it. Still trying to fix it. I repeatedly tried to tell the csr's that the issue was at the pole, but they refused to listen and kept saying the issue was with my equipment, which was fairly brand new might I add. Xfinity's customer service is absolute trash and customer concerns are disregarded. The techs that come out are nice though and do listen. But the people on the phone's do not. read more

XFINITY'S CUSTOMER SERVICE IS UNRESPONSIVE AND HORRIBLE! This is what happens when a company has a monopoly on "cable" television and internet service in an area! I live in Cambridge and I have been a subscriber first to Comcast, which then switched to become Xfinity, for over 30 years. I currently pay almost $200 monthly for Internet and only the basic television channels. I recently received an email stating that my 30 year old Comcast.net email account would be closed unless I logged into it. (It's still used by older contacts via forwarding to another email account.) I attempted to log into it and was directed to the Comcast Xfinity website to obtain an "access code". The website had no direct link to obtain such a code, and my efforts to navigate the on screen menus revealed no way to get a code. (I should mention that I am an experienced and savvy computer user.) After 30 minutes of this, I was able to reach a fast talking and heavily accented customer support representative who transferred me to another who transferred me to a third. This third representative informed me that my "free" email account had been terminated. Free? I pay Comcast/Xfinity almost $200 a month! The agent continued in difficult to understand heavily accented English asserting how generous this so-called free email address had been, but informed me that my email account had been closed and it was impossible to reactivate it. This seems to me to very probably an outright lie. In the end, I expressed my dissatisfaction as politely as I could manage. This issue is not the fault of the person I was speaking with, but rather with Xfinity management higher-ups. I won't "Punish the monkey and let the organ grinder go." (Mark Knopfler) I wish that I could say that this interaction with Xfinity is an isolated event, but every interaction I have had with Xfinity over the years has been at best minimally satisfactory and frequently terrible. This situation is an excellent example of what happens when a corporation is allowed to establish a monopoly for goods or services in a particular area. Terrible customer service and service overall. I've spent hours talking to a computer and trying to get someone on the phone to register the new modem. Finally, when I got someone on the phone they said that I needed to go to physical location to register the new modem. I went to the local store and after 1 hour they said that it's all set and all i have to do is plug it in. It still doesn't work after being plugged in and Xfinity is saying that they don't see a modem plugged in. Now a few more hours on the phone to figure this out. it's the same brand and modem as the one we are replacing. Customer service is the biggest waiste of time in my life of dealing with people over the phone. They outsource to India and I can't understand a word anyone says. I spoke to 3 different people and still could only make out 2 or 3 words after asking to repeat 10 times. Im canceling all my services today. I finally was able to cancel my service but have still been billed my monthly payment and I have been waiting three weeks now to get this issue resolved. No one ever reach out to me about the ticket that was created and I have had to take time (about an hour each call) to get a person on the phone and explain everything to them. I'm giving one star for a recent visit from an Xfinity technician and followup customer service. We had internet reception issues. A technician came, nice guy, did some work, the problem persisted. Weeks later, two more technicians came, did some work, advised us to relocate the modem to a central spot. We did so and put it on a small shelf on the wall in the hallway that runs through our home. The problem still persisted. Called again. This time an unbelievably snide guy responded. He sneered at the new location for the modem, said, "Look where you put it!" with a derisive laugh. When I tried to explain what the previous technicians had said, he cut me off with, "I don't care what they said." A while later he asked me a computer-related question. I don't know much about computers and he laughed and sneered again when I didn't understand a term that he was using, The guy was arrogant, full of himself, and acted like he had been sent to interact with ignorant peasants. Got a call from an Xfinity rep after the visit, asking how it went. I told the rep (politely) that the technician who came was a rude jerk and explained why. The rep apologized, said I'd be getting a followup call from a manager. That never happened, I called back, left a message, got no reply to that either. I never received the extender. It never was sent so I set up an in store appointment. The in store representative was disinterested and told me I could buy the extender they said they supply per the upgrade. Quitting xfinity after 20 years. Wish I could give them 0 stars. The absolute most incompetent company in the USA. They have screwed up four separate installations of cable boxes. The first time they had no record of an appointment i made when I called them. The second time they sent some one but he didn't bring the cable boxes because he said they had been shipped to me. I never requested that any boxes be shipped to me and never received anything. The third time they simply failed to show up. The fourth time they booked the appointment as a technical issue, and not only did no one show up, but according to the Xfinity rep, they would not bring boxes for a technical issue because they (wrongly) assume your cable boxes can be fixed. The boxes are being installed in a vacation rental property and my guests were lovely enough to agree to wait for the technician to show up on 4 separate occasions. I am refunding the guests some money and will go after Xfinity for it. I plan to get the boxes myself and drive them from Boston to Provincetown, then sue Xfinity for the money I had to refund to my vacation guests who have had no TV during their entire vacation and my wasted time to drive back and forth to Cape Cod. The customer service department is extremely textbook and a huge joke. I have animals okay, so one of my rascally rabbits got to the coax cable going from outside of the house to the modem. Clearly, I can see it's very well snacked on. My rabbits love the spicy hay and will go through mountains to find it. Scheduled an appointment to get this fixed with a technician. I received a call today to run through every possible reboot there is. Finally, after playing the game for 45 minutes, which I think is beyond fair, I asked the lady how any sort of reboot is going to fix a rabbit chewed wire. Oh, so sorry ma'am, let me just try one more thing. Put me on hold, and I sat through yet another reboot. These people are off their rocker! Think outside the box and not from a book PLEASE for the love of everything. my mind is blown at the stupidity. Mind you before I called, I had already been through these steps on my own as I do have a very slight bit of common sense.
