You have to fill out a waiver, wear a mask and waiting area is outside. They have plexi up at every station. 10/10 highly recommend as long as you're not looking for white glove service. HORRIBLE customer service. My clear coat on my dip powder manicure was splotchy from sloppy/rushed application (from a very rude male nail tech) and my toe was smudged which was my fault even though it didn't happen until 3 hours after I left the salon. When I was done with my appointment yesterday, I had another appointment to get home for so I didn't have time take have the man who did my manicure fix it on the spot. During my manicure yesterday, my nail tech was very surly and unnecessarily rough. One of my cuticles is bleeding from how rough he was. When I sat down I asked for my nails to be oval shaped and when I pointed out that they were squared (and crooked no less) it because very evident that he was annoyed with me and argued with me about what I asked for. Anyway, when I came back the today and asked for my clear coat to be redone and my toe repainted, the lady at the front desk shouted at me to sit in the waiting area. I was told to sit down in another chair to have a woman fix my clear coat. I pointed out a dark spot (difficult to see in photos) in the middle of my thumb of my white shimmer manicure and she said it was because my are dirty underneath and yellow because I have natural nails and refused to touch it up. As you can see from the photos, my nails are not dirty nor yellow underneath. Once my nails were "fixed" (they are still splotchy because once again. I was then told to go find the color used on my toes and right as I went to sit back down in the waiting area, another nail tech shouted at me to go sit down on the pedicure chairs. Once my pedicure was fixed, the male tech who did my manicure yesterday told the woman to tell me to leave. My toes weren't even dry yet and I was TOLD to leave. In college, We looked for every cheap route to spend less. There was a lot of buzz about X Nails because it's cheap and would "not chip for three weeks". I now have been going to X Nails consistently for over a year now and consistently getting shellac polish change. I can wait three weeks and my nails don't chip. Even if you have to wait for 40 minutes in there, they are fast and efficient. The nail techs are also very knowledgeable about the shellac colors. Instead of looking through their 250+ colors, I usually just tell the nail tech what kind of color I want and they can tell you the number Definitely not the place to go if you want a relaxing spa mani or pedi, but a great place to go if you want them to last and look nice the whole time you have them. They also don't charge to remove shellac...which is unheard of anywhere else. One of my favorite places. read more

I have never written a review but yesterday's horrible experience at X salon made me write this review. It's the worst salon in NKY. My first visit was Ok - the guy was polite and did a decent job with nail art, which made me visit this salon again but today the old lady was SO RUDE and disrespectful towards customers. She made my finger bleed and didn't say a word, not even an attempt to apologize or check how I am. Instead yelled at me twice.. She hurried through my SNS nails and didn't even bother to check if I wanted any design. When I asked her she yelled and said I haven't finished. I was waiting for her to be done with base so that she can enquire about the design but she finished off and asked me to wash my hands. I asked her to make single line on two fingers she again yelled and said the line will cost $35. It is not about the money, it's about the experience. Super unprofessional lady, was also yelling at people calling at salon to check about the hours or availability. I will be never coming back here nor recommend anyone visiting this place. X-Nails is the perfect place to go if you are on a budget and want a quality job done. Located in a strip plaza in Newport, this place is a little hard to come by but the word of mouth marketing does them well! Since you are getting a great price, their peek times are BUSY. I have arrived and heard the wait would be an hour so I had to leave but other times I arrive and I am in and out within 30 minutes. I usually get the shellac manicure which has usually been a good experience. This isn't exactly the place if you are feeling like you need to pamper yourself but absolutely the place if you just want the job done. I have never received a pedicure so I am not sure how that experience is but I am weary on the kinds of places I get pedicures. Overall, I would recommend and I will continue going myself! read more

I'd gotten my nails done on a recent vacation to Virginia but I did not have a nail place here in town for my fill-in. I chose X Nails after reading the reviews here on Yelp. I went in on a weekday afternoon around 5:30. When I arrived the place was pretty full but there was only one other person waiting before me. I waited maybe 10-15 minutes before I was seen. I did not get the name of the girl that filled my nails but she was semi friendly and even helped me with suggestions for getting my nails reshaped. I will say everything seemed rather rushed, probably because people were still coming in and they were trying to get everyone done. Despite the fact that she seemed to crank me out quickly, I'm happy with the results and I will say they did a good job. The prices are very reasonable. They charged us $5 extra to get tips, $10 extra for gel polish, and $20 extra for a design without even telling us it would be more before doing it. I went to pay and the total was $185 for the both of us which is absurd. They said my sister's nails were $75 because of the design, but they never informed us that it would be that much more. They refused to change the price to what they told me it would be and were extremely rude. Then the next day my acrylic nail just falls off and the rest of them looked awful. Everyone does a great job here. Several color options and methods. I usually get acrylics and gel polish. I just recently switched over to dip and so far I love it. They were extremely rude to me from the time I came in. I requested a "Dip Manicure" which I have gotten many times before at other places. Kim rushed through it, dipping multiple fingers at a time. She didn't cut my cuticles or put lotion on at the end and explained I was only receiving a "color change". Okay fine, at least the price should be cheaper right? Wrong. I was charged $35 for a color change, which is usually the price of the full service. I wanted to love this place so badly. 3 members of my family go regularly, and the Cincy CM Cindy speaks highly of it too. My experience was just really lacking. There's no appointments - and I actually like the way they are set up. You walk in and put your name on a list. They tell you how long it will be and you can either sit and wait or come back before your time is up. Since my cousin goes all the time, we knew what to expect. We put our names down and then went for lunch. The wait was about 2 hours. Most of the staff seemed very friendly. But there are a couple of things I can't forgive. First and foremost, we were there for 3 hours. 3 hours for a mani/pedi. Nothing special - shellac manicure and regular pedicure. The manicure part of my service was almost non existant. At one point my cousin asked me if they skipped my hand massage - nope - it was just really quick and for some reason, she did it BEFORE beginning anything else. At the end of the "manicure" the skin around my nails was really dry and peeling. That has never happened unless I was getting acrylics put on... but even then, the massage with lotion usually fixes it... not if you do that part before anything else though. The work was good though. It's two weeks later now and there is not a single chip. That is the only reason I can justify a 3rd star. The pedicure was a wreck too. When my "manicure" was done, I had to sit there for almost half an hour before moving to the pedicure chair. Then they moved me to the pedicure chair. Where I sat for long enough that the water turned cold. When she came to start working on my feet, she was surprised to find that I had shellac on my toes. Even though I had mentioned it a couple of times. I assumed she had heard me. So, I had to take my wet, cold feet out of the foot bath, put my flip flops back on, and walk across the salon so she could take the shellac off. then back to the same cold water sitting in the foot bath. The massage for the pedicure was definitely better than that for the manicure. But overall, it was not a pleasant experience. I have to give big props on the price though. $110 for 2 shellac manicures and 2 pedicures. read more

If you want a spa-like manicure experience, this is not your place. But if you need a quick and inexpensive polish change, this is it. My usual standby nail place is in Mt Lookout, but after my shellac mani for my wedding chipped within three days, I think I'm on the prowl again... so I found this in a nondescript strip mall near my gym, and gave it a try. The inside is nothing special, smelled too much like acrylics and the floor was incredibly dirty. They need some ventilation and a vacuum cleaner. However, my nail tech told me they had just done Homecoming nails all day, so maybe that's not normal. Willing to give them the benefit of the doubt of that one because my shellac mani lasted a whopping 20 minutes (instead of an hour-plus at other places!), and the polish has stayed on for two weeks without a chip. This is the lady that did my nails. She was extremely rude when I told her I didn't feel comfortable with the length of my nails. She told me she didn't want to waste her time cutting them. I was with a friend of mine and I told my friend that I would never do this length again. She told me never to come back and that they didn't need my money, so it didn't matter if I never wanted to do this length again. I am new to the area, commuting for work and am looking for a salon to go instead of using an hour and a half on the weekend back home. I selected this salon based on their reviews. I arrived at 530 on a Thursday and having read other reviews, asked for Tammy and knew they would not have taken an appointment. I only waited 5 minutes before someone took me back and began to remove my gel polish. They used a diamond tip drill to mostly file it off and I saw them so this for several customers. That is why this lost a star- I felt they stripped the top layer of my nails. Toes were fine but hands felt hot and sensitive on the nail after. Several people rotated through and worked on my hands and feet to get me out before 7, which was fine. The young man who did the massage and scrub on my pedicure did an excellent job!! Tammy's polish application and cuticle cleanup etc were very good (though I have both gel mani and pedi every two weeks, so my nails are on good shape.). I had gel polish on my toes and she sort of moved me back to regular polish on toes, which was fine, I wasn't headed to a beach. Great designs!! For my hands I got a gel French and she cut my cuticle while doing the manicure. French was nicely done, but three days in i can start to see the beginnings of cracking on the white, which I do not get at my regular salon. The salon was not very clean, is located in a shopping center and seemed to have an abundance of teenagers there. I will keep looking for now, but might go back if I can't find anything else. Absolutely the worst SNS manicure I have ever received EVER! It was rushed by an employee who couldn't bother to look up or get off his personal phone call about the lights at his rental house (so of course I don't have his name because that would have required acknowledging I was there). Could barely bother to get the last top coat on before he walked off after demanding my card. No bother with cuticle oil or maybe just some lotion so I didn't walk out with nails still covered in powder. I wish I could hang a warning sign out front. Holy cow! This place is awesome. I got in around 2:30 on a Monday. Didn't have to wait at all. This guy was speedy and efficient. I had my acrylics almost done within 20 minutes. Then I started my pedi and that's the only reason I left one star out. He did a fabulous job but he was tough lol there definitely was a point I was gripping onto my chair lol but I ended up out of there in 45 minutes with a great set of nails and toes. This is a nice nail place. Very clean. I had a gentleman do my pedicure. He didn't talk to me at all, which was fine. Tammy was doing one of my friends toes. Tammy was a lot of fun, and super chatty. Then my other friend had a grumpy lady that was unpleasant the whole time. I would have given them 5 stars had the grumpy lady not yelled at me and told me my tip wasn't enough. I have been to X-Nails a few times, and I am always impressed by the quality. Their prices are also really reasonable for gel/shellac. I get a manicure with gel/shellac polish and that is $30 (without the tip). They will also do just a polish change, which is $20(?). The shellac/gel manicures last me 2-3 weeks, so by the time I go back in, I usually need a manicure. The only downside is there can be a wait, so I try and avoid going on Saturdays. read more

I got there around 11:45am and they were pretty busy, but I was able to start about 2 minutes after I got there. I came here to get my nails done with a coworker the other day. We waited about 45 minutes before we were seen, which wasn't as bad as it could have been. The initial lady who did my nails, I didn't get her name, seemed very annoyed at my request for a design, and an all white shellac manicure. There were two spots of something on my nail when she was done, and even though I had wanted the full manicure, I never received a hand massage or any hand lotion at all. The reason I'm giving this place any stars is because Tammy came over and saved the day.
