When I walked into the Paul and Jack Cary location, I smiled because it finally felt like home. I miss the cinnamon rolls from the west coast and couldn't wait to try theirs without the icing! It didn't disappoint! Moist, not too sweet and tasty!!! There is a good variety of pastries beyond the typical cookies and cakes found in this area :-) The only drawback is that their prices are much much higher than what I am used to, but I will be back in the future for a treat!

When we…read morearrived in town for my son's graduation, he said that he wanted to take me to this same location for Mother's Day, and that it is an amazing bakery now with these warm, fresh donuts that I must try, stuffed with lots of different jams and fillings, sprinkled with sugar, called Bombolinis. Don't ask me twice. I'm always down for trying a bakery. We were lucky to find parking when we pulled up (private lot and street parking available), and the place was packed, understandably, for Mother's Day. There are patio seats and indoor seating, and the order line was stretching around the tables and out the door. We quickly grabbed a spot in line and I barely had time to snap photos, Lol. I wanna say those cinnamon rolls in the pastry case looked amazing, smothered in thick cream cheese. Our crowd ordered our lattes and pastry items. We chose to get our croissants warmed up and we took everything to-go. There are napkins and utensils by the door so you can grab them and throw them in your bag on your way out. We broke into our warmed spinach croissants and cheese croissants while on the road. My creamy spinach croissant was amazingly delicious. My sister also loved hers. My son said he should've gotten the spinach because it looked and tasted better than the cheese croissant. I will definitely order again. I had to save room because I knew I was trying my Bombolini soon. I chose the Raspberry Pistachio Bombolini. My daughter and sister chose the Blueberry Lemon Bombolini. Let me just say make sure you have a change of clothes or you are eating this stuffed donut with a lot of napkins because the fillings are jam-packed and juicy. They were running down my hands and I had to run into a bathroom to wash up. My sister had an incident with her Bombolini - it squirted all over her shirt right before her flight. Luckily, she had a change of clothes ready. Definitely worth it. Delicious fresh pastries, here with rotating and seasonal amazing flavor combinations. Ambience was loud, bustling, and happy on this Mother's Day Sunday morning.

I decided to branch out and try the Parisian Grilled Cheese -- Brie, ham, and raspberry preserves-- and it too me right back to my favorite cafe in Ireland! The tomato soup, a must with grilled cheese, was bright and fresh, fragrant with basil! Definitely check out the test kitchen menu-- there are always fun new dishes and every bite is delicious! I'm usually with a group of 4 and more, and the service is always prompt and friendly!

We followed by sharing three entrees: 1) the Wisconsin grilled cheese sandwich (swap sourdough for wheat bread): good basic grilled cheese, the apple slices were thin and not super crispy, I didn't think they added more than a smidgen of flavor, 2) shrimp and grits: not as cheesy as many, with a little kick to the shrimp, and 3) classic mac & cheese. Classic, but also basic: next time I'll go for something more interesting. We finished off with the banana pudding, which was disappointing: many slices of hard, flavorless fruit. We split on the whipped topping: I thought it was good, fam said it tasted like Cool Whip. Service was good, server asked if I wanted a refill when I started getting low.

I have come here several times with friends for trivia when they happen on Friday nights. The…read moretrivia itself is actually one of the more challenging trivias that I have attended, but it's very fun. I really, really enjoy the food options they have and particularly love one of their salads, although I can't quite remember, which one at this time. I know it is one that has a vinaigrette! I've tried two or three different sandwiches and all of them have been really good. They also have a decent selection of beverages, including coffee and tea, alcoholic, and nonalcoholic items. My only wish is that they had some sort of newsletter, or a more regular calendar for me to be able to keep track of when they have trivia (like every other Friday or something would be nice!). I will definitely be checking back for future trivia postings!

While there, I grabbed a latte and the Thorin breakfast biscuit. To add prosciutto it would have been an extra $3, which would have made the breakfast biscuit $9.25. Does that feel excessive? Yes. Do I wish I had done it? Also yes. The biscuit was good but it needed something else and I do think the meat would have been a good add. The latte was just okay. We're very lucky to have so many good coffee spots in the area so they are up against steep competition. Overall, really neat concept, cute spot, great for teleworking.

Brunch at First Watch - A Whole Vibe!…read more Y'all, let me tell you about our experience at First Watch! From the moment we walked in, Kareem greeted us with a smile. At first, we thought he was just seating us--turns out, he was our waiter too! Talk about a double blessing. First things first--he brought us coffee, but we politely declined. No worries, Kareem kept the good vibes rolling with his Southern hospitality (even though he's from New York ). He checked in about 3-4 times before we finally figured out what we wanted--patient king energy! Now, the food: Chicken & Eggs Tacos - So flavorful, we had to pause and appreciate the moment. Waffle, Bacon & Potatoes - Classic and delicious, no notes. Lavender Haze & Morning Meditation Drinks - Lavender Haze was like lemonade with a floral glow-up, and Morning Meditation gave us straight-up wellness in a glass (I could taste the beets working on my immune system ). The ambiance? Super cute & not too crowded! Perfect for a chill brunch moment. Would I go back? 1000% YES! Especially if we can get Kareem again! (Somebody get this man a menu item he actually enjoys! ) Have you been to First Watch? What's your go-to order? Tap a reaction! Love This | Thankful | Delicious | Oh No
