Not necessarily familiar with the neighborhood with no previous recommendations, I booked a yelp reservation for our group of 10 (with 1 high chair request). We were pleasantly surprised when we walked to the back of the restaurant and found a nice small room with electric fire place and small Pac-Man game (perfect for kids). I don't normally comment about the service unless it's exceptional and I would say this place fit the bill. The servers were friendly, accommodating and the food came out for a big group pretty much at the same time. We were just in town for a wedding this past weekend and stopped in here on Friday night for dinner and drinks. The drinks were pretty good (I can't remember exactly what was in mine but I'm pretty sure it was gin and cucumber?) We had a chicken quesadilla and then I had some of the chicken eggrolls with sweet potato fries and everything was really good. I'd easily sell my firstborn for some good sweet potato fries and these were A+. I don't have any kids so I'm not concerned about the firstborn thing. Even if I had kids, you're underestimating how much I really like sweet potato fries. The staff were really nice and didn't make fun of me for asking for like four dipping sauces for my eggrolls and fries. I just really like dipping stuff and they accepted this about me. I appreciate that. After we ate, we sat at the bar for a little bit for a last drink or two and I think we probably should have stayed at our table. It's definitely a spot where locals like to hang out on a weekend, which is cool, but a few people didn't seem super excited that we were taking up seats. The bartenders are also nice but it was a little uncomfortable being in a locals' spot without knowing anyone so we left after that. For a late night meal, this was an amazing spot in the Hudson Vally area. We tried the Buffalo chicken wrap, quesadilla, and buffalo cauliflower. The quesadilla was the star of the meal as it was packed with flavor. We got take out but the inside of the restaurant looked cute. Very much your local bar vibes with great eats. Went to Wunderbar with a group and had a nice sampling of the menu and we were all impressed! Everything was delicious with classic flavors executed flawlessly. My Bretzel Schnitzel special was crispy fried perfection. The carbonara was some of the best I've had and the wings were a great starter! I enjoyed the fried green tomato caprese, but get two, the portion is a little small. Steak was cooked perfectly and so was the salmon. The atmosphere here is great. Not too loud, easy for conversation. If you've got back problems bring a cousin because there's a less than comfortable bench by some of the tables. Very good craft cocktails, beer and food. Hubs had the Philly cheese steak sandwich and I the Philly Burger special. Both were delicious, really liked the sweet potatoes which were crispy. The best of all was our waitress, she was so accommodating as she would customize things for us as we could not decide on one flavor topping for our fried cauliflower appetizers She said, "how about half and half?". The chicken wings, chicken tenders, and the fried cheese cake (especially) were DELICIOUS! We had bbq and mild sauce for the wings! The bbq was my favorite, but that's just my preference in general. To be fair, I've eaten here and the food was always good. I'm relating my experience, because I placed a takeout order through Yelp/GrubHub and about 25 minutes later I received a notice that something went wrong and the order had to be canceled. Don't know if one of my selections wasn't available, if the kitchen was on fire (hopefully not), if the cook quit or if the GrubHub process screwed it up... That's the point if any I guess, things happen, but after 25 mins goes by while you're driving around town waiting for your order to be ready and then you get notice, "Unfortunately, your order from Wunderbar Bistro has been canceled." It took a few months (out of town) but we finally went back and had to revisit the previous review. We went for dinner and the service was outstanding, and the food was excelent. Ordered the Chicken (enough for 2) and the Shepperds' pie. Both were really good. So I guess the 07/10 visit that was not up to par it was a "fluke". Will be back for more. read more

This used to be one of our family go-to's in Hudson until tonight. I have never experienced such rude wait staff. We didn't even stay to eat. It wasn't busy, it wasn't hectic and the yet individual who was inflicted upon us was disgustingly rude and should never work in the service industry. So... I order from this place a lot. I work at the hospital nearby and we often order takeout. It's usually very good but a week or so I had a really bad experience. They have pierogi specials each week. I was dying for some. The special of the week was a pesto pierogi. We placed two orders at $12 each. I also paid for some sour cream. We ordered other things as well. The two pierogi orders had no pesto on them lol... just dry. I called and the girl who picked up said that yeah she noticed because she packed it up... okay. She defended the mistake by saying the chef didn't know what the special was. Ooookkkay again. That is literally the chefs job. I had to argue about getting my $ back. I also wanted to be refunded for the sour cream she argued again that well you got the sour cream. Yes I did lol. I do not plan on eating sour cream on its own. She had such an attitude and the way she defended the fact that the pesto pierogies had no pesto on them because the CHEF didn't know the specials was bizarre. read more

I was hesitant to come here due to hearing mixed reviews but I'm glad I did! The food was delicious and tasted as good as it sounded in the menu. We had a party of 5 and it was definitly busy for a weekday. I'm not sure if this effected the service we received or not. The waitress did an okay job but there were times we were just waiting for our water to be refilled, or to order a drink. The food itself was so tasty! Excellent food!!! We started with general Tso's sauced wings that I forgot to grab a picture of before we devoured the 8. The fried clam po boy was delicious and my brother loved the Philly cheese steak. The only reason for the 4 (and perhaps this is due to sitting in the bar area), a lack of attentiveness from our waitress. We ordered and got water, didn't see her for a longer than usual time. Ordered our app and main meals and then never saw her again until we got our bill,, watched her walk right past the table as I tried to make eye contact to get some more water. Also our plates with the dead wings sat next to our dinners the entire time we ate....again if this is due to seating in the bar area, I can partially understand. Knowing we would be passing through Hudson, we decided to search local restaurants that offered take out, during COVID. We checked out the menu and thought it looked good. We order the smoked blue cheese Cajun burger, spicy jalapeño burger and the Thai chili chicken sandwich. The beef was flavorful and cooked well.
