It was hard in the past to find places for all of us but now it's even more difficulty because we still have my extremely picky BIL who has stomach issues, GERD, and a multitude of other issues, and now we have a vegan-ish person who tries to stay vegan but eats cheese, dairy, and eggs. So finding places to satisfy everyone is more complicated. This place met our needs and can meet yours: dog friendly, vegetarian options, and has something for even the pickiest of people. Me and another person got the strip steak, my husband got the Philly cheesesteak, MIL got the wunderbar burger, FIL got salmon burger, the vegan-ish got a veggie burger and one of the salads, which he split with his wife the SIL, and my picky BIL got the chicken sandwich. He freaked out over the sandwich because he wanted to know why it was moist and not dry. His partner and I were like, "You can have fully-cooked, moist chicken. Dry chicken isn't the only cooked option." But he continued to have a meltdown over his perfectly cooked chicken. He did eat it though. Family can drive you nuts sometimes. Anyways, despite the meltdown, I think we were all satisfied with our food. I did find the mashed potato on the steak to be very creamy but everything else on the plate was very good. Steak was cooked medium-rare liked I asked. Overall, the place is very good, excellent food, excellent service, and it was a busy night.

Ordered mozz wedges, bacon gouda burger and chicken sandwhich. Wedges were crispy and hit the spot. The burger was just ok not much flavor unfortunately. The chicken sandwich was similar. No sauce just seemed like baked chicken between buns--very dry. Fries were ok. It was busy, so a popular spot, perhaps we just didn't hit the jackpot on this night.

I'm surprised that Yelp is allowing this. Went there for the first time tonight. It's a beautifully and lovingly decorated little restaurant, evergreen boughs hanging, cool antiques and interesting pictures. Cool Russian music was blasting and added great atmosphere. The food is DELICIOUS. The blinis and pancakes authentic and recommended. Do not miss the Siberian meatballs, perfectly done. The braised beef was the only weak thing we ate and the owner took the charge off without being asked. Both the waitress and the chef /owner (?) were lovely and nice. We ate very early, didn't realize it was movie night and they had just started Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. One piece of advice I would give, we hadn't tried this restaurant yet this ski season because of the relatively draconian cancellation policy on Resy and Open Table. With this much local competition it's a good bet that some aren't booking when they can get a more easily cancelled reservation at another great place. Warren St has become a food mecca. That being said, it's very different, cool and not a run of the mill dining experience. Definitely do the tea. It rocks.

Do not go here. This restaurant is a scam…read more Besides the design which is very pretty, there is nothing worth going to the restaurant. The food you can tell is not 100% in house made. Things have texture of the microwave & store bought. I have no problem spending money on food (I am born and raised in the west village) but their prices and quality do not match. $30 something dollars for a tiny bowl of dumplings ?? A plate of store bought pickled veggies is the most insane thing to me.. The energy in Taiga is tense and awkward. They have Russian music playing which I understand but it's also not loud enough to the point I feel staff/owner is listening to my conversation. I felt the waiter (owner) was standing too close / staring at us , non stop filling my water to the point it was excessive ! Also something about the energy felt dark , not really sure. Although I will share this.. the owner seems to be the waiter and he is collecting tips?? Hello- that's illegal. ODD. I had heard that the owners were very deceptive & mislead staff of their tip outs and only gave them 20% and the owners took the rest! WRONG on so many levels. I'm glad I went for myself to see and everything I had heard was right. -off putting & inauthentic.

The way New Yorkers truly love their pizza? Nnnnno. Kudos to Baba Louie's I guess for experimenting with sourdough flour. But what makes people think that sourdough flour would be the ultimate replacement for regular, good ol' fashioned flour? While some folks are praising Baba L. for the sourdough, hubs and I found the texture unappealing and tasteless. Everything that went on top of the crust though, was tasty. My small Pomodoro Bianco with fresh mozzarella, roasted portobello, garlic, tomatoes, red onions, chevre (opted out of it), pesto and Parmesan sounds like a mouthful- but the tomato slices were too thick. Hubs liked his pepperoni pie and seasony sauce ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Even with like 45 minutes to spare before their 3pm Sunday closing time, we were seated smoothly without the rush from our server. So much so, folks came in droves like 20 minutes to closing and weren't turned away. Our server rocked big time and handled herself like the ultimate pro from the moment she sat us, brought over our pies and when we left.

At first I thought it was just our table because the local friends who brought us here have been before but she was chatting at every table. The food is superb. Maybe I'm a little biased, I'm a huge fan of Middle Eastern food, but I've had this cuisine in NYC and in other places. One of our friends ordered shakshuka, tried and true. I went in with the same intention but then I saw the Báladi breakfast. OMG, a lot of very very good food! My husband and our other friend also had the Báladi breakfast. It's a bit customizable in that you choose what kind of eggs you prefer. I chose the green omelet which is loaded with fresh dill. Hubs had scrambled with mushrooms, friend had omelet with onions. Everyone was more than pleased. For the table (hungry table, lol) we ordered the cheese boureka complet. Each entrée, shakshuka and Báladi breakfast and boureka, comes with a board filled with what I'd call salatim - mini-dishes with assorted items. There was Israeli chopped salad, green tahini, carrot salad (w cranberries instead of raisins), eggplant salad, frena (warm excellent mini-loaf of bread), and more. SO much food to appreciate and all made in-house, fresh and delicious. We're looking forward to visiting these friends again next summer and eating at Baladi again! Too bad we don't live nearby! The coffee is full-bodied, strong but not bitter, served in a large mug.
