    Bald-face hornet nest

    We have a huge bald-face hornet nest in an inconvenient location. My Master Gardener friend who owns a landscaping company recommended Billy Wright. Because of the dangerous nature of the pest, Billy made changes to his schedule in order to show up in an hour to treat the nest right away. He is very knowledgeable, very professional and very conscientious about preserving nature while doing his job. He picked a plan that not only takes care of the pest but also prevents another nest for the rest of the season. No aggressive attack on the pest, no unnecessary risk for him or us being harmed by angry hornets, no damage to plants. Very little low-toxicity material used. On top of that, he also educated us as homeowners about wildlife and common pests. Very fairly priced. In addition to insects, he also takes care of animal pests like rats, mice, squirrels, raccons, groundhogs . . . He will be my go-to person in the future. Highly recommended.

    We used him for termite control. He came promptly and took care of the issue fast and it was done correct.

The technician methodically assessed the problem and approached the nest from inside and outside the house. The technician located the nest and used a pesticide to kill them. The technician also stated that I should watch to see if any yellowjackets attempted to come back and if they did, he would return at no charge.

They showed up a couple of hours after the estimated time window, citing a delay at a previous job. It happens, not a big deal. They came and sprayed around the outside, plugged some gaps, and set up 3 or 4 bait traps and some sticky traps. This took all of 20 minutes. They talked me into a one year service plan that costs $1484. (I immediately felt I had been strong armed by the technician). He had also said the only way we would resolve the mouse problem was to replace all of the insulation in a part of the house. The cost was $10,000+. I declined their upsell. (A second opinion advised this insulation was unnecessary). The service plan was to come back in a month to reassess the mouse situation and replace traps. We scheduled the next service with a window of 9 am - 12 pm. I stayed home from work to wait for them. After hearing nothing , I called at 11 am for a status. I was told they were running behind and could not be there until 1 pm. That didn't work for me so we rescheduled for the next day from 8am - 11am. I stressed that I was only available until 8:45. They reassured me that I would be the first appointment. (We live about 20 minutes from their office). The following day, we stayed home again. Heard nothing until 8:26 when the technician said they were running late and could be there after 9. Frustrated, we adjusted our schedule and waited. The technician showed up reeking of weed. It was apparent the technician had smoked very recently. Perhaps that was part of the reason for the delay. They did the service and left in about 20 minutes. The technician offered to take $50 off for our trouble. Strangely, he Venmo'ed us $25 from his personal account. I called later to express my concerns. I spoke directly to the owner, Thomas. He was professional and offered to personally come back and take a look at the mouse problem. He said he'd cancel our contract and prorate the money if we wished. I stressed I had a very short time window and had to leave the house by 8:45. He assured me multiple times that he'd be "in your driveway by 7:30". The next day, after hearing nothing, I called at 8:30. Thomas had forgotten our appointment. He said he could be there in 20 minutes. I reminded him how he quite literally guaranteed that he'd be in our driveway by 7:30. He eventually said "You're right, you got me". He agreed to refund us our money for the contract. To his credit, Thomas heard my complaint with professionalism and was apologetic. His offer to take care of the issue personally at no additional cost was appreciated. Had he followed through, we would have likely remained customers. I followed up 3 times over the next 3 weeks. Heard nothing until a month later. They refunded me $935, thereby charging me over $500 for two service appointments that took all of 20-30 minutes each. We still have mice. Edit: to suggest this is fabricated is ridiculous and dishonest. Everything is documented in emails.

    Service guy came unannounced AGAIN! The technician is very nice but the office keeps sending him…read morehere weeks before he is supposed to be here for my regular pest control service. On the prior visit the office sent someone to check for mouse activity and told me I had a lot of rodent activity in the attic and I needed to have the insulation replaced. Orkin had replaced the insulation and treated this space less than 6 years ago. The cost quoted was astronomical and when I questioned it, he immediately cut the cost in half. I am very suspicious that he was trying to sell me something I didn't need. I am seriously considering finding a new pest control company.

We weren't seeing any mice about 3 months ago and the service guy came for the service (unannounced) , immediately after he came for the service the mouse came back, called Orkin and they said this is supposed to happen. Also complained about the service guy coming unannounce, they said it was some kind of service glitch, the service guy came again unannounced t so I called yesterday to complain about the mice issue not changing since we started the contact and complain again about the service guy coming unannounced and they said they would have someone at the house today between 8 and 12 and the service guy was a No Show. I'm so done and disgusted with this company. Use "Fly on the wall". Pest control, they are cheaper and you will see results right away and they will text you and call you 2 days before your appointment.

    Getting answers out of this branch and company is frustrating. Prev home owner had Orkin termite…read morebait so I decided to renew. Before I closed on the house I set up an account and I was told over the phone cost would be $400 or so and there is no service transfer fee. After I set up the account they told me no it's $990. When I told them about the $400 they said no you called someone else. Now I have a piece of paper I found in the mail with the renewal notice dated July 2022 saying its $400 and they dont want to honor that. they're saying they have no idea what I'm talking about even though its from Orkin on Perry parkway. I called the 1-800 Orkin number and they told me the $900 charge is wrong but theres no communication to fix it. I paid $125 for the initial pest inspection and I was told it would be thorough. the guy came and left in 10 min after quickly spraying. Service guys show up unannounced to spray. since my back gate is locked and I'm not home I pay $115 for them to spray the front of my house and leave. I asked if I could be notified when they are coming to spray and I was told it's unscheduled. The only plus here is Miguel is very thorough and Lee are really great. Everything else is a mess, though.

I hired a private exterminator to come and check for holes through which the mice enter, and he filled the holes. Things are a little better. Unfortunately, the building contracts with Orkin, whose service ensures that there will always be mice in the building.
