We have mice. Our entire condominium has mice. The building calls Orkin; a person comes and sets some traps, and leaves. I hired a private exterminator to come and check for holes through which the mice enter, and he filled the holes. Things are a little better. Then they text and call you nonstop. To top it off, they don't communicate with each other. I got off their text list after I told them that I had already found someone for the project. I have been a customer of Orkin for many years. I never had problems getting a person to talk to but that is no longer the case. I had an appointment scheduled for yesterday with a window of 2:00 - 4:00. No one showed up. I started calling around 3:45 and left a few messages with a statement they would call me back. I did not receive a call back. I understand things happen but when I don't get a return courtesy call, that is a problem for me. I also tried calling on Wednesday starting in the morning going thru the afternoon. Nobody ever called me back. Thursday I was fortunate to talk to a live person and she was very helpful.....however, the technician did not show up. read more

My tech, Allan, was great. No issue there. Their "customer service" people answering the phones are a different story. Don't call to get anything done - they are not helpful. Its as if they are reading from a script. I called a few times, most recently to cancel my plan. The person I spoke with did not seem interested in doing what I asked (I am the customer, right?), instead she barraged me with dumb questions and then told me I can't cancel until my balance is due. I don't have a balance! I have paid for my last service visit. Also, their billing "system" is confusing and I believe it is set that way by Orkin. read more

I wish I could add a half of a star; they don't even deserve that. I wish I could turn back the hands of time, and Orkin would have never stepped foot into my home. It was the worst experience I have every encountered. Let me tell you, my story. Orkin was supposed to remove all blown and battered insulation from my attic, sanitize the attic, close all entry points, spray repellent in attic and add 12 inches of insulation back into the attic. Downstairs in my storage room they were supposed to remove all the insulation, sanitize, close all entry points in basement, spray repellent, and add new batted insulation. Day 1, they didn't have enough equipment to start the job, they had to go back to the office for more equipment. Once they returned, they started pumping the insulation out of the attic only to find out that they didn't have enough bags to complete the job. They returned 3 days later and resumed pumping the insulation out of the attic. At the same time one of the individuals started working in my basement storage room. He proceeded to remove the insulation. Once he had all the insulation bagged up, he took it outside and put it on the truck. I followed him outside and noticed that the other individuals were still pumping the insulation out of the attic. The individual that was working in my storage room came back inside with a 16oz deer park water bottle and proceeded to go into my storage room and started squeezing the bottle towards the ceiling. I asked what are you doing with that water bottle, his answer to me was the gadget that they were supposed to use to spray the repellent was BROKE, so he put the solution in the water bottle and was using that as a spray bottle to spray the repellent with. I said to him this is TOTALLY unprofessional. In the meantime, the individuals that were working on my attic finished pumping all the insulation out of the attic and started pumping insulation back into the attic. After they finished pumping the insulation in the attic, they cleaned up and left. After they were gone my husband climbed up into the attic with a ruler and measured the insulation. The individuals had only pumped in 6.5 inches of insulation. I had to call the office and complain about the situation. They returned 7 days later and pumped the rest of the insulation in the attic. Still, the individual that was working on my basement storage room totally screwed that up, I had to complain to the office about that job. They returned on October 22nd and completed the job to standard. Once everything was complete or at least I thought it was complete, I started thinking to myself, the individual that was working in my basement storage room initially came into the storage room with a water bottle filled with the repellent solution because he said the gadget that he was supposed to use was broke and they only had one gadget on the truck, so he took the repellent solution and poured it into the water bottle. So now I'm wondering, if the gadget for the repellent is broken and they only had one gadget on the truck then what did they use to spray my attic with. I looked back on my cameras inside the house and outside of the house and confirmed my suspension, the guys that were working in my attic NEVER took anything off the truck, they never took any equipment into my attic to sanitize, seal or spray repellent. They simply pumped the insulation out and they pumped initially 6.5 inches back in, cleaned the area and left. The reason why I'm writing this is because what those individuals did, it seems as if it was second nature to them, it seems as if they have been misleading consumers for a while. The problem was they never expected my husband to climb into the attic and check their work. And they never expected me to review my cameras. I called the office to complain several times, one of the manager's offered me $500.00 to stop complaining, meanwhile I have paid them $1,000 of dollars for a job that they were not trying to complete. I had to file a complaint with the BBB and threaten to take them to court before they would come out and complete the job to standard. So, if anyone who is reading this message and the Sykesville, MD Orkin office has done any work for you, you need to immediately check their work. Because, Iike I said in my opinion the way that they conducted business at my house, it's as if they have been misleading consumers for a while. read more

We have bees in the walls. We called other pest control places and they could not come out for a few days. We called Orkin and they could come out the same day. However, what they don't tell you is that an "inspector" will be out to assess the issue. Your issue is not resolved that day. We had no idea. The inspector did not come out the same day. They gave us a window of 2 hours, no show, no call. I called 45 minutes after the 2 hour window and no one had any idea why there was a no show. She put me on hold to check and we got disconnected. I will assume I wasn't hung up on. NO one called me back. I waited for over 5 mins and called back. They told me they can only call out so dropped calls are not returned. Turns out we had a large amount of rain and a few roads were flooded out so he was unable to come. Not a problem but no one could call us to let us know? Another employee called us after my call. He was to come out the next day. We still are not aware at this point that he is only there to assess the issue. He came out and was a nice young man. He informed us he was only assessing and someone would call to make an appointment. HOWEVER, we needed to pay him for the appointment ahead of time; we paid. Another day goes by and we now have an appointment on the calendar. I asked the person on the phone how the process would work, do we need to be out of the house, are the chemicals safe; she informed me that she only makes appointments and can not answer any questions. So I ask, can someone call me to answer my questions. She said the tech will answer when he comes out. Again, can someone call me ahead of time. Her response was that she will ask him but can't guarantee it. What??? The tech comes out and I ask about the process. He at first said he didn't know. He walked up our stairs to the room and left a trail of mud on our stairs. I mentioned it and he went back down the stairs in the same shoes trailing the mud again to put on shoe coverings. Maybe you should have led with that? Then he talked with the inspector and told us he was going to poke holes in the wall and put powder in it. I asked about spraying where they come in. He can't do that because he doesn't have a ladder tall enough. Again, WHAT?? Why is there no communication between people at your company. This makes no sense to me. He poked holes, sprayed out the window close to where the bees are coming in but not where they are actually coming and couldn't get out of our home fast enough. He told us they are not allowed to go on a ladder above the first floor. So in other words, you were the wrong company for the job. HORRIBLE customer service, HORRIBLE communication internally and externally. We will NEVER call Orkin again. My husband had to get the ladder out and spray the outside of the house himself. Getting answers out of this branch and company is frustrating. Prev home owner had Orkin termite bait so I decided to renew. Before I closed on the house I set up an account and I was told over the phone cost would be $400 or so and there is no service transfer fee. After I set up the account they told me no it's $990. When I told them about the $400 they said no you called someone else. Now I have a piece of paper I found in the mail with the renewal notice dated July 2022 saying its $400 and they dont want to honor that. they're saying they have no idea what I'm talking about even though its from Orkin on Perry parkway. I called the 1-800 Orkin number and they told me the $900 charge is wrong but theres no communication to fix it. I paid $125 for the initial pest inspection and I was told it would be thorough. the guy came and left in 10 min after quickly spraying. Service guys show up unannounced to spray. since my back gate is locked and I'm not home I pay $115 for them to spray the front of my house and leave. I asked if I could be notified when they are coming to spray and I was told it's unscheduled. The only plus here is Miguel is very thorough and Lee are really great. Everything else is a mess, though. read more

I am very Happy with the service provided. I called in and got an appointment within 2 days. The agent, Michael came and did a great job handling all the multiple bees at my door and removed the bees nest and cleaned the area. He also treated the perimeter before leaving. They never let me know when my monthly appointment is and therefore I'm never home when they arrive. I've complained about this repeatedly for 2 years to no avail. I emailed and called the manager Clayton Rorie about it multiple times and gotten no response. I've told the technician about it at least 20 time, but it never changes. So what am I paying for if I'm not home when they arrive and they don't get to come in and spray and treat the house? Nothing. A complete joke of a company. Customer service has been fine however no one from the branch office in Eldersburg, MD ever calls back within the timeframe I am given. Literally the worst company ever. Completely unprofessional. We have had them servicing our home (preventative for bugs) for the past year but when it came to having them come out to actually remove a problem (ie: a huge wasps nest) they no-showed 5 times. And that's not an exaggeration. FIVE times. The first appointment, the women scheduling appointments did not relay the magnitude of the nest to the technician. The technicians only do as they are told and he informed us that dispatch never told them about the need for a large ladder. We understood this as it wasn't his fault and he had other appointments to get to. fee has hoped that 2nd time around would take care of it. The 2nd time was a complete no show. We call again, and "Rachel" informs us that they must have gotten caught up. We give them two more chances and finally contact corporate. Corporate supposedly relays the message, we call the local office again and they assure us that it will be addressed today. You guessed it....another no show! We notified them of the wasps nest on 8/2. It is now 8/13, and guess what. We still have a huge hornet's nest attached to our house. Seriously AWFUL business practices. read more

Completely avoid this company. Technician came to my house, moved my stove and placed rodent traps behind the stove. The stove was left in a position that prevented me from using the back door. A few days later, technician returned with help, removed the old traps and placed new ones. While moving the stove to its original position, the technician broke the stove. The branch manager came out and fixed the stove, leaving the traps behind the stove. I was then informed that Orkin corporate policy prohibits moving customer appliances. Hmmm - that doesn't seem to be true, does it? They refused to remove the traps placed behind the stove. It is now my responsibility to find a way to move the stove and remove the traps. They suggested hiring another company or getting help from a family member. Really? Horrible in every way. I did not ask them to place the traps behind the stove, nor did I ask them to break my stove and then change (I guess?) their corporate policy so that I have no way to get to the traps. Why not remove the traps from behind the stove while they were here? Why even place them behind the stove? They indicated I would be refunded for both months of service. Based on other reviews here I hold out little hope of that going to plan either. Completely avoid this company. read more

The system of setting an appointment and showing up on that day has collapsed. Now I get a text saying, oh we need to change your appointment to this other day...it makes little sense. My bigger beef is with billing practices. Technicians used to leave a bill the day they worked at my house (appointments are on a quarter basis). They stopped doing that, without giving any reason. Instead I now receive a bill by mail over a month later, marking my account overdue. This infuriates me and is unacceptable. I have contacted the branch for the second time to complain. read more

We have been Orkin customers for quite a while and though the technicians have been professional and tried to be helpful, Orkin has been unable to resolve an ongoing issue with mice and the customer service has greatly deteriorated. I've repeatedly been told a manager would either come to our house or call me back and repeatedly have had no return call and the manager has been a no show for a scheduled appointment. Another time that someone came out, they tried to upsell us on other services and did nothing to address the current issue they were sent to help with. I've also repeatedly asked for Orkin to honor it's money back guarantee to refund our last service payment because of their inability to resolve the issue we hired them to address and they refuse to honor the guarantee. I strongly encourage others to seek pest control services elsewhere and not waste time and money on this company as we have done. read more

We had a contract that was pre-paid by the previous homeowners. After 6 months, I cancelled the contract because the service was so terrible. Even for free, they were not worth it. The work was not thorough, and we repeatedly had to call them out for the same pests (mainly crickets and mice). The technician was not professional and could not answer basic questions (such as, "Is this harmful to pets?"). We asked before signing a contract what exactly was covered. i asked specifically would they not only get rid of mice but fix the problem that is allowing them in my house. She said yes to both. Then the technician came and showed us what WE needed to do...I said I thought he was suppose to do that. No real answer. The next day an inspector came from orkin. I was unaware this was going to happen. He said he takes care of all the problems and fixes them. I was thrilled until at the end says it costs $1500 extra! The tech called 5 minutes after the appointed time saying he'd be late...and when I asked if when he'd be able to come he said 30 minutes. Completely useless and full of lies. As said below, they are NOT open 24 hours a day and do NOT visit you the same day you call, even if you call at 8am. They claim that if you still have pests in between visits, they will come out at no charge- but that is a lie. They charge you at least $99 every single time they stop by. I am confused why I had to pay for traps that are not catching a single thing and the next available appointment isn't for another 48 hours. They are NOT open 24 hours. They have an answering service that will give your message to the office that opens at 6:00 am. Except the office isn't really open at 6:00 am, it's just another person who takes your message and will send it to the office when they REALLY open at 8:00 am. I ended up calling them several times. When the guy finally did come out he basically told me my house smelled like cockroaches (?) and tried to sell me a series of treatments. I live in an older apartment building, Yes, I have cockroaches, but so does everyone in the building: The little buggers move along the pipes and wiring between the units like they're on a highway. He even acknowledged this was happening, but still tried to sell me the package. Besides, that's not what I contacted them about. So, no, I'm not going to spend $125 a month on a fruitless quest to personally rid a 3-story building of cockroaches and I'm never calling them, again. read more
