We came here for a date night, and overall it was a really enjoyable experience. The service was exceptional--attentive without being intrusive--and the ambiance felt elevated, making it a great setting for a night out. The food and drinks were both good, with everything well-prepared and satisfying. That said, nothing quite stood out as unforgettable. It was a solid meal, but not one that felt especially unique compared to similar restaurants. Without a standout dish, it's hard to rank it higher--but still a great choice for a polished, easy evening.
Love this place! Celebrated my anniversary with my husband here on a weeknight. Service was awesome and we loved our server Aisha. The decor is sexy and sheek. Every single dish we ordered had such amazing flavor and the texture is perfect. I expected to spend much more but the price is great for the experience and the incredible food. I can't wait to come back!
I came here to celebrate my birthday, and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. Our server was rude, passive-aggressive, and inattentive throughout the night. We tried to give her the benefit of the doubt and assumed she was just having a bad night, but the service never improved. We were also overcharged on our bill, which only added to the frustration. The most upsetting part was how my birthday cake was handled. I brought my own cake that I had already purchased myself, yet I was charged $40 just for the restaurant to cut it. I even told them I wanted to cut my own birthday cake, but they refused. They said the cake-cutting fee included soft serve for everyone with dessert, but when it came time to serve it, we didn't receive what was promised. We had to go back and forth with management just to receive half of the soft serve they originally said would be included. Overall, this was not the birthday experience I expected. Between the poor service, the billing issues, and the way my birthday celebration was handled, I left feeling disappointed. I hope management addresses these issues so future guests don't have the same experience.
A dining experience to remember... if you have a special day to celebrate with your loved one or close friend. The dining experience and the omakase experience will be very different. I'll speak to the omakase experience. Right off the back, you get led into a special elevator into the workout room. Found it strange that there is no one working out... then you're led into the sauna room... the speakeasy entrance to a whole new world. The chef is thoughtful and attentive to every detail and what is fresh and especially the temperature and texture/firmness of the sushi rice. Every bite offered is beautifully created and the wasabi is ground right before your eyes. But you. Expect that at this level of sushi. The attention to detail and even the sake pairings offered by the waiter is spot on. The crisp, fruity, refreshing sake pairs perfectly with the umami and subtly sweet bite of every course. You must take a bite of ginger and cleanse your palate with sparkling water before your next course. If you have an anniversary or a birthday celebration with a loved one, come to one of the best experiences you'll have in the NOVA area.
Interesting Asian spot in a hotel, cool vibes but also could be a work dinner spot. Needed a reservation to get a table so sat at the bar. Fried chicken had a nice kick and crunch. Sushi was small portions and pricey but tasted super fresh. Some very special ingredients that elevate cocktails I've never seen before.
Quite an impressive space with lounge area and very expansive dining area. The menu was not as extensive as it could be and the selection was tasty. I just wished there were more to the menu and a larger print menu. The drinks were half the menu and the large bar area definitely was very busy as the night went on. The Omakase dinner is on a different floor and only available during certain times. We chose the Izakaya hand picked menu which is chosen by the chef and changes daily. The choices were really good and the portions were enough. We enjoyed not having to pick and choose and loved the surprise element of this. We enjoyed the evening and liked the vibe of the dinning area, especially the views.
Came here with a couple friends, I had the wagyu burger and it was excellent, the bread had a perfect crunch/texture and the meat was cooked perfectly. I enjoyed the fries immensely :) their cocktails were also delicious l. We sat at the bar so service was quick and everyone was very attentive and friendly. Nice views as well.
During winter restaurant week, I tried the $55 option, which consisted of 4 courses. Complimentary: edamame Starter 1 : Hamachi crudo was 7/10. The radish and pickled onion didn't add anything to the dish. I also didn't get any of the jalapeño flavor in the soy sauce. Starter 2: Tokyo Chicken was 10/10. There was so much food. Chicken was well cooked and not dry. The sauce was coated evenly and was sweet and rich. Main: Akebono roll was 8/10. I liked the torched salmon, but the sauce on the top didn't come through for me. Bonus Main: I tried my friend's wagyu burger, which we just couldn't tell if the meat was American or Japanese wagyu meat. But it was still juicy and tender Desserts: Bloody Mary was 10/10. The bitterness in the citrus was light and the texture of the ice cream was creamy. Date & Fig Sticky Toffee Pudding was 2/10. There were too many flavors going on. It was too sweet that I was drowning myself with water Service: Loved that they explained the menu in detail and kept checking i when we would like the next course. However, we had to request for more water couple of times & the Wagyu burger took a long time to come out. We did receive an apologize for that.q
Ambiance: beautiful modern vibes. Japan inspired foods and drinks Service: host/hostess greets you before you enter the bar/dining area. Our waiter was excellent and was attentive without being pushy. Food: we only had drinks before heading up to the Naisho room for another reservation. This is an upscale dining/bar experience. With that comes the price - it's up there so be prepared to pay a little premium. You pay for the ambiance and the vibe as well. I think the cocktails are decent but not outstanding. I would like more creativity to an Old Fashioned if I'm paying $23 a glass that looks 1/2 full even when it's neat...I know they can do it but would like to see a little more and I'll end coming here rather than hop next door to another bar.
This spot is a hidden gem located on the rooftop of Wegman's in Tyson's corner. You have to enter through the door labeled "The Perch" to gain access to the rooftop. Great for socializing after work. The atmosphere is relaxing and the ambiance is beautiful, they have a pool table available for use, and a few other games if I'm not mistaken. Drinks were cute, tasty as well. I didn't get any food, only drinks The bartenders were professional and very knowledgeable.. I believe it may be connected to a hotel, however I entered through the rooftop.
Had a really enjoyable night at Wren in Tysons. We did the omakase, which takes place inside their speakeasy that is accessed through a sauna in the fitness center. It gave the evening a low-key, secretive vibe that was fun without being over the top. The bar setup was relaxed and set the right tone for the meal. The sushi leaned traditional: clean cuts, minimal garnishes, and really fresh fish. Favorites for me were the shima aji and kin madai, but everything was solid across the board. After the omakase, we ordered temaki, which came with a film to keep the nori crisp until you ate it. That little detail gave me some nostalgic Tokyo conbini onigiri vibes. It's the kind of thing you don't think about until you experience it and realize how much it helps. Dessert was a pleasant surprise: the hojicha pudding with genmaicha tea was simple but hit the mark, especially if you're a green tea fan. We weren't quite done after dessert, so we ordered a few more things off the speakeasy menu. The Yo San mocktail was especially good, not overly sweet and had complexity to it. Also appreciated that the staff offered top-offs of pairings we liked, which was a nice, low-key touch. Overall, it was a well-executed, chill experience with good food, thoughtful details, and a setting that made the night feel a little different in a good way. The staff was very friendly and helpful taking time to clearly explain every dish and answer any questions you may have about it.
The pork belly bao bun was pretty good, but it wasn't necessarily that inventive, considering that peking duck buns exist and don't need as many toppings to taste good. The ni-temaki is a hard skip because of the random piece of paper between the rice/toppings and the seaweed. It just kind of ruined the dish. The Tokyo chicken was okay, but you can get the same quality or better in Annandale/Centreville by asking for Korean friend chicken. The most inventive of dishes to me was the maguro tartare but even that was lacking in terms of fish quality. It is a nice place to try but you are mostly paying for the ambiance? The Tokyo girl is really good and sweet with strong notes of lavendar (and is also very strong). Overall, it's pretty mid considering the hype over this place. The servers weren't too busy but they kept switching for our table, which was kind of confusing and they took an oddly long amount of time to get our check... I wonder if the omakase is any good since the reservations filled up pretty fast and there are only 6 available seats on a Monday. Maybe I'll try it, but based on this visit, maybe not.... read more

I planned a birthday dinner for 7 here and it did not disappoint. The food was so good. I think I ate a whole family style bowl of Tokyo chicken by myself. The restaurant has great girls night vibes and the menus were personalized for the birthday girl upon request. We did the Izakaya experience and it was totally worth it. Prices were reasonable and customer service was excellent. From the moment I reached out, they were super quick and responsive via social media and email. When we arrived, I asked if we could switch tables as the table we were initially given was right by the entrance and they made it work despite it being a pretty busy night. After dinner, we ended the night at Naisho Room which was also very cool. Special shout out to Lauren, Zeina and the entire team at the Wren for making sure we were taken care of. Very confused by the low ratings, but I suppose I did only have one experience with Wren, and it was during Restaurant Week on a Monday night, so maybe they were just putting their best foot forward. We did the $55/person dinner option for myself and my fiancé and shared plates. For our first course, we ordered the umi masu (steelhead trout sashimi) and wagyu tartare. For our second course, we did both the wafu salad and beets salad. For our two mains each, I got the Wagyu burger and gindara (miso marinated black cod). Fiancé got the Tokyo chicken and the ninniku noodles. We also got complimentary salted edamame (two rounds of it). I think my favorite of all these was the umi masu. The wafu salad was really brought together by the crispy shallots. The mascarpone in the beets salad was also a nice addition. The wagyu burger was perfectly cooked to medium as requested, and the accompanying fries had subtle chili flakes/seasoning. The Tokyo chicken reminded me of the double fried soy chicken from BonChon. If it wasn't restaurant week, it would have cost us $158 before tax, but this cost us $112 (restaurant week prices plus one Diet Coke) and it was delicious! Our server, Min, was very attentive without being disruptive. He was friendly and quickly got us refills. Servers would clear our table whenever they saw empty plates. I noticed people sitting by the bar watching the buccaneers/cowboys game having a good time. Food came out very quickly, with maybe a 10 minute break between our appetizers and our mains. Our appetizers came out within five minutes of ordering as well. I parked in the Wegmans garage, which is free for the first hour, $2 for 1-2 hours, and $6 for the tier after that. I should have asked if Wren validated parking, but I paid the $2. From the wegmans garage level B1, we went to level S (street level) and came out of the building ("The Perch"), walked next door to the Watermark Hotel, and went up to level 11 which is where the restaurant and hotel lobby are. Interesting that the lobby is on the 11th floor. We were done dining by about 9:45pm, and our reservation was at 8:30pm. It was a pretty great experience, from food to service. Located inside the Watermark Hotel, my family received a complimentary dinner while staying at the hotel. Here's our experience. The space itself is on the 11th floor of the hotel right near The Perch, an outdoor space with mini golf, food trucks, etc. Inside, there's a beautifully-lit long bar and all kinds of seating around it for diners. To start, we ordered the oysters and corn kaki-age tempura. Both were well flavored. For our mains, my wife ordered the $55 build-your-own sushi box, I got the scallops, and my six-year-old daughter got the waygu burger with fries. All tasted great, but the winner was the sushi. It was more flavorful and fresh. To drink, my daughter got an orange crush mocktail, I the New Zealand white wine and my wife an old fashioned. Service was excellent! read more
Had an amazing time at Wren on two occasions! Located in Tysons, VA, on the 11th floor of the Capital One Center, they serve Japanese-American influenced dishes and amazing cocktails . This one's been on my list to try for a while, I just love the atmosphere , this beautiful restaurant on top of a mid-rise building in Tysons ! It is on the pricier side, but there is nothing wrong with that as long as you're getting quality for what you pay for. At my first visit, we got the Tokyo Chicken, the Waygu Burger, and the Ninniku Noodles. The Tokyo Chicken , also known as Japanese Karaage Fried Chicken, had GREAT savory flavors with light hints of a citrusy flavor and was tender and juicy in every bite. The Waygu Burger was super tender and delicious the beef patty just melted in your mouth, and there was a nice smoky charred flavor to it as well! The Ninniku Noodles were so tasty, you KNOW I had to get some noodles we got it with the duck leg confit. The noodles were coated in a savory and garlicy chili oil sauce , presentation and flavor were just soooo good ! I visited again for a second time during Tyson's Restaurant Week and once again, had a great experience! We got a Ramen dish exclusive to the restaurant week menu, Oysters, Pork Belly Bao Buns, and various cocktails. The food was great, and I really enjoyed the fresh oysters and delightful craft cocktails. Service and atmosphere were excellent, will definitely be coming back again, it's a great dinner date spot :) Parking: The building connected to the Hotel has numerous entrances for the garage, and the front desk of the Hotel will comp your parking ticket after your meal which is an added bonus! read more
Been here twice now. Once with another couple, once as a family for Restaurant week. Hope to go back again. That said, I don't think this is a regular haunt. The food and service are excellent, and the prices are aligned with that. You just don't do that all the time. Or at least, we just don't do that all the time. Anyway, a couple things I'd point out about this place right up front: 1) Don't get scared off by the hotel lobby. Yeah, the restaurant basically looks like it's in the hotel lobby. Because it's actually in the hotel lobby. So ... weird. But hey, why not. Most "fancy" restaurants opt for the sort of darker confined seating where there's more privacy between tables and you feel like you're in your own little world. Here, you do not. You look out over ... well ... construction at the moment and pretty much anyone there is within direct line of sight of one another. While all of this sounds not great when I write it down, it totally worked for us somehow. No issues. 2) Don't get scared off by the Japanese cuisine. This likely isn't an issue for most people considering this place - but sometimes I find myself traveling with someone who's just not into Japanese food. Whether that's the raw fish, the nori, the liberal use of pork, or something else. Don't worry. The menu is very diverse and it's trivial to find something that will meet the needs of everyone in your party. Now--assuming you are no longer scared off, there's a lot to love. They definitely do good work on their cocktails. Absolutely worth exploring that menu and experimenting a bit. I found the portion sizes to be perfect. Especially during restaurant week, I imagine someone might be upset about the small size of the short rib--but it was DELICIOUS and at the end of the meal having taken care of TWO appetizers (plus a few edamame), one main, AND dessert ... I was pleasantly full but not overstuffed. And finally the service was on point. Our waiter checked in with us just often enough. The glasses of water never got to empty, and we didn't have to deal with any plate-clutter during the meal. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with whatever you order ... but my goodness, the Japanese shaved ice was something else. It was light, sweet, and just got better the further into it I got. Genius. If your experiences end up being as good as ours, I'd be shocked if you didn't make a point to come back. read more

I love the sushi here it's so fresh and good happy hour prices. Maria is my favorite bartender, she is truly a delight. This place can get very hectic and crazy but she always keeps a calm demeanor and pleasant attitude. Not to mention she makes a great cocktail! read more

We came here around 5:30 pm before our show at Capital One theater. We didn't get a reservation prior to this. It was already crowded. But luckily we were able to get a table. I highly recommend making a reservation. Food: umi masu: I loved citrus aioli. It was very refreshing. tokyo chicken: It got nice soy flavor and it was nicely fried. wagyu burger: It was tasty and very moist. Drink: toki scotch, matcha, yuzu, honey syrup: My husband had and it was nice refreshing. tell me you're a fizz without telling me you're a fizz*: Fruity the nightcap: I was worried that it had salted caramel and it might be too sweet. But it was not. I loved nice coffee flavor. All the drinks are very expensive and it takes a while for ONE bartender to make awesome drinks. The ambiance is a hotel lobby. But the food is pretty good and they make awesome drinks. I highly recommend this place. read more

We live 5 minutes away and decided to come on a week day after a long day at work. Finding our way out of the garage to this floor was a bit tricky, but once we got to the right place, we were pleasantly surprised. The place connects directly from the lobby and has a nice open feel, but the ambiance and lighting give the place an intimate feel. Food was also great for a cocktail bar! I'm always skeptical about the quality of sushi when trying out new places, but the yellowtail and tuna appetizers we ordered were very fresh. Tuna was a bit salty for my taste (liked yellowtail better). My husband loved the Ramen dish he had. Our favorite part was the list of cocktails- they come in fun glasses and taste absolutely delicious! The reason for 4 stars is that for a weekday night, they seemed very short staffed and despite the servers being very friendly (and we could see they were trying to work fast and be attentive), we had to wait a very long time in between dishes, to order more drinks, and to get our check. In any case, I'd definitely come back for a night out and also some day to try their omakase menu. read more
This place randomly popped up on my radar so my friends and I decided to come here for Friday dinner--reservations can be made on OpenTable! Wren is located in The Watermark Hotel--from the garage you have to go all the way up to the 11th floor. (Tip: they do validate parking so make sure to get your parking ticket validated at the hotel concierge). Wren is part of the hotel's lobby bar, in their open space area--it has a more casual ambiance. Food was great but their food selection is limited. The Pork Belly Bao Buns (comes in two) were delicious--pork was well marinated but the buns were slightly dry. The Tokyo Chicken was good. For entrees, the Wagyu Burger and Miso Ramen were both delicious and well flavored! Portions and pricing were reasonable too. For cocktails, they offer "For The Table" drinks (3 choices), we chose the Moscow Mule for $36--it comes in a HUGE cup that serves about 6-8 cups worth of drinks, but it had very little amount of vodka in there and was loaded with tons of ice. We ended up ordering additional cocktails after that. I can see coming back here just for drinks and small bites. read more
New bar/restaurant at the watermark hotel and it did not disappoint! We couldn't find a reservation online for weeks but I called the day we wanted to go, figured we could be put on the waitlist but they ended up finding us a table to reserve. Parking was a little complicated, there were 3 separate groups in our elevator and we all seemed confused. Basically park in the hotel parking garage for free, go to the street level and go into the watermark that way. Drinks were good! The food was delicious! Started with the soy garlic edamame (very unique) and the bao buns. The buns were delicious! So soft. I got the scallops, which were good but only two pieces? They also had bacon wrapped mushrooms that were sooo good!!! My husband got the wagyu burger and loved it. Do not miss out on dessert. We got the donuts and I'm still dreaming about it. They were soft, chewy, omg I need more now! The vibe was tight at Wren, very chic and modern. We plan on coming back for drinks and small plates to try more...oh and obviously the donuts. read more

Wren is in the lobby of the posh Watermark Hotel. The lobby has an intoxicating fragrance I would love to take home (but that has nothing to do with this review). Our experience at wren was a little confusing as they initially put us at a tiny cocktail table when we were there for dinner. That table would not have been able to accommodate all our dishes. Then we were told we could move to another table and as we were walking in that direction (by ourselves) we were stopped by another server saying we couldn't have the table. In the end, we were seated properly but the initial service kerfuffle would continue the rest of the evening. The front room staff always seemed confused and uncoordinated and unfamiliar with the dish ingredients. They were all kind and helpful, however seemed to need more training. The food was all fabulous. I highly recommend the Brussels sprouts and hamachi tartare. The burger and ramen were good but not as strong contenders as the rest of the dishes. The Wren menu is limited but you can tell the kitchen staff knows how to make each dish perfectly. For dessert we enjoyed the doughnuts made with rice and tapioca flour and are chewy and delicious. Matcha cream is a touch sweet with earthy undertones. read more

First time here and had a great experience! This is a hotel restaurant so it's not a large area but the food was all so good. We very much enjoyed the shishito peppers, the egg noodles, and the pork buns! We also got some oysters and my- they were super tasty (but pricey). I don't think I'd get the oysters here cause you can def find better deals elsewhere for that but it's still worth trying! Wish the portions were bigger but I get it- high end dining is usually portioned out that way. read more
I was not sure what to expect when I first made the reservation here, turns out it's at the WaterMark Hotel lobby restaurant. It's aethestics and decor is really nice with the cherry blossoms. We ordered the wagyu tartare (wagyu sashimi / asian pear / poached egg / gochujang sauce / milk bread), brussel sprouts (crispy brussels sprouts / garlic chips / sweet mustard vinaigrette), corn kaki-age tempura sweet corn kernel / sea beans / tempura dipping sauce), tokyo chicken japanese style crispy fried chicken thighs / house tare / cabbage slaw), wagyu burger (gruyere cheese / white onion / tomato / chili garlic aioli / brioche bun / fries), gindara (saikyo miso marinated black cod / fried rice), steak (grilled angus rib-eye / hatcho miso demi-glace / wasabi mashed potato) and jukusei kamo (aged duck breast / sweet miso eggplant / duck liver mousse). The wagyu tartare was very underwhelming, I hate it when the restaurant doesn't give you enough bread...but also it was such a small portion. The bread was like a slice of bread cut 4 ways! The other appetizers, corn tempura, brussel sprouts and tokyo chicken were great. I would order those again. The portion of the tokyo chicken was actually the one that was most worth it. The wagyu burger was delicious, definitely the best bang for your buck. It was cooked perfectly with toppings that really finished it. The gindara was YUMMY, but once again really small portions. The flavor of miso was cooked into the cod and so flavorful. The rice underneath was nothing to really rave about. The steak and jukusei kamo were also good, but I think the small portions is what earned them 3 stars. The food itself is really good, but not for the prices. Lastly, the staff were super nice. But the food takes way too long. Expect to wait a long time for small portions of food. read more

The first time I ate here the food was great I got to taste a variety of things on the menu and it was all pretty solid except the cod it didn't taste fresh. The second time I came here I was extremely disappointed. Wren has good food it just depends on what day you catch them because they seem to be inconsistent which is very unfortunate. The second time I came here the food was cold and the portion size was off which was ridiculous because I had a picture and a clear memory of how it was a few days prior. The restaurant however is gorgeous and spacious. read more
Both food and service are excellent. What I really loved about the place is the space is not well designed and spaced out among tables and the bar and decor are just elegant throughout. It also gets night vibes from the outside yard just steps away from the other side of the lobby. Great for a date or a group outing. read more
I was in town for business and staying at the Watermark went to Wren twice for dinner. If you are coming here for dinner I would highly recommend a reservation unless you are fine with sitting at the bar. The staff there was really attentive and friendly. Both times I had the Brussel Sprouts which were really good. The first time I had the Toyko Chicken. This was really good and I would recommend this dish if you are hungry. It comes with a lot of chicken but not much slaw or cucumber so I would definitely recommend that you get a side of something to go with this. On my second visit I had the Wagyu Beef special with mushrooms and asparagus. The beef was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. Overall my experience at Wren was very good. read more

Amazing experience, finally got to check out this place yesterday for girls night! Everything from cocktails, the service (Juan was amazing), and the food was bomb!!! Really recommend Tokyo Chicken with Tokyo Night cocktail is a MUST. Few other favs were Brussels sprouts, Miso Ramen and Black cod. read more
While looking for new places around Tysons, we came upon the Wren and stopped in for dinner. More bar than restaurant, but the food is still worth sampling. We got the Wagyu Burger and Pork Belly Bao Buns, which tasted great. We also got the Miso Ramen - deep and earthy, and Ninniku noodles, a bit spicy and full of flavors, and the Sea Bass special dish with light, flaky sea bass over crispy, fresh vegetables. Overall, a great evening, definitely a place to visit if you're looking for a great atmosphere, good food, and a wide selection of drinks. read more

First time at Wren and I've got to say, the drinks here are phenomenal. The environment is a bit louder than most restaurants, but the atmosphere is lively and our Server was so polite and attentive. Starting off with the drinks, I had the "singing in the rain" and let me tell you... it was strong. (In the best way possible) cheers to the bartender. As for the food I tried the wagyu toban which consists of: zabuton steak / asparagus / shishito maitake mushroom / sake soy... PHENOMENAL. The sake soy sauce melts with the flavors of the wagyu making each bite satisfying. I paired this with the Brussels sprouts which were crunchy and sweet. Definitely make a trip here, however- don't expect huge portioning, this is an izakaya styled restaurant so a lot of the items are shareables read more
