Where to begin! I was visiting West Point for the first time to attend a basketball game at the…read moreacademy. The area around the academy is small and sparse as far as dining options. We found Benny Havens on Yelp and thought it looked worth a try. This place is what it is, a local institution that does what it does; if you want something else, go someplace else. It is of course unabashedly an Army bar. Sure it's a dive, but in the coziest, best sense of the word. The owner and staff were welcoming and the food was simple and honest. All they have is hamburgers/cheeseburgers and wings, and fries or onion rings! That's it! We had cheeseburgers and fries/onion rings and everything was fresh and tasty. The bar is a great big wooden thing and I bet it has stories to tell. The beer was cold and the whiskey tasty. It's cash only, so bring your greenbacks. I don't often have reason to stop at places like Benny Havens, but every time I do, I wonder why I don't visit more often.

We came for the burgers - and must admit was wary of going to a little pub for food- but they did not disappoint! The burgers were big and juicy and tasted like they had been grilled on a backyard bbq. (So good I forgot to snap a photo!) The fries were light and crispy (similar to McDonalds). We tried the chicken wings as well. They are fried and not as juicy as I typically like, but had a good flavor. It's a limited menu but there's a little something for everyone (chicken tenders, burgers, onion rings, mozzarella sticks). The waitress and bartender were both very kind and friendly to myself and my son, who were visiting West Point Academy for the weekend. We also met a couple of WP Alums who were meeting up and very nice and welcoming to us both. Def recommend if you're in town for a local experience - swing by for a burger and a beer!

Came here for brunch to celebrate my aunt's 70th birthday, and it was our first time visiting. The…read morespace itself is really cute--on the smaller side, but cozy. We had a party of 10, and thankfully they were able to accommodate us in the very back of the restaurant, which ended up being a great spot for our group. Service was a bit on the slower side, and we would have appreciated a few more check-ins throughout the meal. Nothing terrible, but noticeable--especially with a larger group. If you're gluten-free, just know the options are somewhat limited. That said, I was able to customize the breakfast burrito into a bowl to skip the tortilla, which worked out well and was still satisfying. The table shared the pancakes with cinnamon butter, which were a big hit. The breakfast burrito was also really popular, and a few people ordered the quiche special, which got great feedback as well. One downside is the bathroom situation--there's only one unisex restroom for the entire restaurant, so there was pretty much a line the whole time. Parking is metered street parking with a 4-hour limit, which is manageable but something to keep in mind if you're planning a longer visit. On the plus side, being seated in the back made it quiet enough for us to actually enjoy conversation, which isn't always the case at brunch spots. While the pricing felt a bit high for the overall value, the food and atmosphere made it a worthwhile experience. It's a bit of a drive for me, so not somewhere I'd visit regularly, but it's located in a really cute town with plenty of shops to explore--nice if you want to make a day out of it. Overall, a charming spot with good food and a cozy vibe. I'd come back, just hoping for a bit more attentive service next time.

Our server Cassie was an absolute star! She was essentially the server, bartender, host, and runner! We had the espresso martinis and they were to die for! We had to have another round. Very creamy and delicious. I had the brunch omelette and it was great, but I had a bite of my friends biscuits and gravy and will definitely be getting that next time! So good!! Overall the vibe of this place was awesome. Really cute and clean interior. Nice view of the street!

I came to Patton's Tavern during my recent stay at Thayer Hotel with extremely low expectations…read more Little did I know I was about to have the best onion rings of my life inside this tiny unassuming hotel restaurant. I got in very late and Patton's was the only restaurant inside Thayer still serving food at 9 pm. I needed a stiff drink at this point, and took my chances on a dirty martini which came out with just the right amount of olive juice and really hit the spot. We put in a chips and guac order, and our mains. The food took a while to come out and service was a bit slow (also, the apps came out with the main food which kind of defeated the purpose of ordering an app). But I'm willing to overlook all of that because the prime rib hoagie with onion rings was so freaking good. Tender meat, lots of onions and cheese, juicy and served on a freshly toasted roll. The onion rings were crispy and airy without being too doughy. I was so happy. The guac was good too but I wish it came with actual chips, not plantains. Definitely recommend eating here if you come!

The Caesar salad was so drowned in Parmesan that I tried to scrape some off, and it was fine. Chicken was cold / salty, telling me it was pre-cooked. A little bit of tweaking could go a long way, because the history and ambience of the location can't be beat.
