Tried this out on a whim, and was very pleasantly surprised. Everything tasted really fresh and well seasoned. Prices are very reasonable. My buddy had the tortilla soup, and said he'd go back just for a bucket of it! Highlights for me were the biscuits and gravy, and chili con carne, although the breakfast (probably even better straight out of the oven in the morning - I had it for lunch) and santa fe chicken were also very good. Can't wait to try more, and grab a box to "take and bake." Tasty light crust, just flaky enough and not heavy (I ended up having 4). Lots of vegan and veggie options too. Staff was very friendly, and there was a steady stream of people for weekday lunch, but service was quick. Overall, I'd highly recommend checking this place out. read more

Oh man, as a Burbanker, I don't like to brag ... but this empanada place is the bomb. About 15 different kinds, they all cost $2.95, and come out piping hot into your to-go box. Check their handy guide so you know which one is which, as they do get jumbled in the car on the way home. Sometimes I'll be thinking, now what am I gonna do for dinner tonight, and this place will pop into my head. Hurry though, they close at 7pm. My faves are the spicier ones (sante fe chicken, ham & cheese & jalapeno, potato and spicy cheese) but spicy is a relative term and these are relatively tame. Sauces on the side with little to-go containers for you. The place is a bit like a barn, no sense eating there until you're going to chow down quickly and then walk over to Quenelle for dessert. I was craving empanadas last Sunday, so we decided to check these out. We tried the chili con carne, the regular beef, chicken, and my sons had the ham and cheese, and nutela banana. My hubby and I also split a choripan. I was impressed with the regular beef empanada, very authentic flavor. I can't say the same about the choripan. I was expecting onions and peppers, also I wasn't told it would have mayonnaise, which I don't like. The dulce de leche was so delicate and rich, not too sweet. This is one of our favorite places in Burbank. My personal favorite is the chili con carne, our kids love the chicken, and the tortilla soup is spicy and delicious. I know that Covid has been a struggle for small businesses and I'm so glad that they've been able to push through so far. read more

I found this place on Grubhub, trying to score some breakfast delivery. I grabbed their no meat breakfast burrito, and GOOD LORD. This thing was 1lb of perfection. The pasta salad looked good on the menu, but failed to make any distinct impression on the flavor. I'm an empanadas lover. This place was very disappointing. I was working in the area and I found it through yelp so of course I had to give it a try. I'm not surprised of the good reviews because most people are not familiar work empanadas and anything new will taste good, however my extensive experience having empanadas makes me rate them as low as two starts. FYI this is not a restaurant, neither a cafe. This place is inside a small market and liquor store and is served as 7eleven style. When you get there they have already pre-made the empanadas and you just choose from what they have. So remember that, otherwise you will have to wait over half an hour. I tried a dozen empanadas and they were very very mediocre. They didn't have a lot of taste. The ham and cheese was straight gross. The only was with some more flavor was the spicy potato and that's probably because it was so spicy that it numbed my tongue to taste anything else after that. Place looks a little bit dirty and they request tip at checkout even though you can't seat and eat there. It was an overall disappointing experience. I don't know where the family is from, you usually know through the empanadas but I think they try so hard to get so much variety and for the to create fancy empanadas that they are definitely not good. read more

The empanadas here are hands-down amazing! There are Meat, vegetarian and vegan options! Let me make it clear that you come here for the empanadas and not anything else. This location shares a space with a liquor/connivence store. There is a bar with stools where you can enjoy your empanadas but there aren't too many seats. Also I have to mention that parking here is kind of a pain. My favorite empanada is the spicy potato and cheese. There are chunks of potato with cheese all mixed together with a spicy sauce. I get at least two of these when I come here. I also really enjoy the creamed corn, quinoa and lentil. I've had the Nutella and banana and I thought it was just okay. This is a cute little shop on Magnolia that I have been wanting to try for months! So glad I did. Omg, their empanadas are amazing! And there are so many choices! I tried the spinach and cheese, and the lentil quinoa. Both were fantastic, and the Salsa Verde (spicy) was also superb! Just the right amount of flavor and heat. I was over on this side of town with him today, and we went by for lunch on their first day in their new space! I found this place on Yelp with a solid 4.5-star review, so I decided to give it a try. Upon my arrival, I noticed that it was a cute little shop-type restaurant with small 2-seater tables outside. I reviewed the menu to see what I'd like, and the Chili Con Carne empanada caught my eye. It's cool that they have vegan options though, so I can bring all of my vegan friends. I ended up ordering the chili con carne with a horchata to drink, and I wish I ordered another empanada. It was so good! It wasn't overbearingly spicy, either. It was just the right amount of spicy. Finally made my way to Burbank/Glendale to check out World Empanadas and I was blown away by how unexpected this location really is - even despite the descriptions - and how delicious, flakey, tasty, yummy these empanadas really are. Talking about making no sense, it's literally a beat up liquor store with nary a sign (until you look closely) and basically 100 square feet for their oven, counters and inventory. Ahhh, I'm counting down the seconds until my return to World Empanadas. As we were waking up, one of the ladies that works there was walking out to approach a homeless man was walking by. She asked him if he would like something to eat or drink. Although he turned down the offer, I found this gesture quite touching. The best way to describe this place is much like a small cupcake shop. Like a cupcake shop, they have all of the available empanadas on display with a little notecard that states what kind of empanada it is. I got the combo, this includes 2 empanadas of your choice, a side, and a beverage. I got the spinach & cheese and spicy potato. For the side I picked the chimichurri pasta salad. It was all delicious. I also tried the desert empanadas. Nutella and banana was my favorite. Disappointed that the prices have got up by about a dollar for each empanada. They are not very big so at $4.40 each vs. $3.50 when you are ordering many for your family that's expensive. I get that restaurants are charging more after Covid but this feels too steep. Not sure I will be coming here too often anymore, which is a bummer because it used to be a nice part of the rotation. I think they're baked and not fried, so that's pretty cool. The crust was crispy on the outside, yet a little chewy on the inside. Tried the 2 cheese, chicken with potatoes, spinach, dulce de leche, and Nutella (not on the menu). I can't believe I've lived next door in Glendale and not tried this place. I love the fact that these were baked and not fired. Anyone could have fried these and made them taste good with not much in them. But these are tasty while being baked. The dough is not thick either so not getting too much bread. Although the two cheese could used more filler. The chicken with potatoes and peas was very good and so was the spinach.
