These guys really aren't bad for a young guy's haircut. They do a good job for very little money. I recommend it if you live in the area.

World cut is kind of inexpensive ($17 for a man's cut) and they do an decent job. The place is also really close to campus, hence really convenient to those students who do not have the time to travel far to get a haircut. They also have pretty good customer service, as the ladies there are all really nice. However, despite all the positive things I have to say about their shop, I do not think there is anything unique about their hair salon that makes it stand out among all the other hair salons out there in Berkeley. I definitely wouldn't say this is the best hair salon out there in Berkeley, but would say this is a great option for those who don't mind getting just a mediocre hair cut in turn for the conveniency of going to a salon so near campus. read more

I am very particular about how I like my hair. I've had many bad experiences with my hair, and I recently found a hairdresser I like in LA. however, after coming to Cal, I was really worried about finding somewhere to get my haircut. I tried to postpone getting a trim until November when I'll be back in LA, but I couldn't wait any longer. I searched up yelp and found World Cuts. Honestly, I went to them because they had decent ratings and they had a coupon for $4 off. When I stepped in the salon, I was helped immediately. Marilou cut my hair. She cut a lot of my hair in one chop. I was really scared and I thought I wouldn't like it, but I couldn't do much as the hair had already been cut. The cut was cheap, $14 and I tipped her $4. Upon further inspection, I realized that I LOVED my haircut. She cut off more than I wanted but I can't even complain because it looks so good. My hair is really thin, but she managed to make it look really full. My hair no longer looks dry or damaged. It feels so light. She did a great job at reshaping my hair and it took her maybe 10 minute. I think I may even like her more than my hairdresser in LA. I've never been so eager to write a review; I highly recommend this place! read more

I used to pay $65 for a haircut but now I only go to Marilou! I have a frizzy megafluff of Ashkenazi Jewish hair and she doesn't even flinch at it. She's been cutting hair all her life, and it shows. I got there shortly after opening, and was seated immediately. My hair was not cut by the owner, but by an employee. My haircut is simple and I know how to describe it well, and the woman cutting my hair followed my instructions very thoroughly without cutting any corners (scissors and texturing all around, electric razor to trim around ears/nape of the neck). The haircut was neither fast nor slow, but brisk and with plenty of attention to detail and getting the length right all around. For $15 (plus tip), definitely a good cut. The place was a bit dingy, but I'm not hugely sensitive to this stuff. If you're looking for a super-clean shiny salon, you'd probably be best off dropping more cash elsewhere. I can't speak to the quality of cuts for women, but it seems like a good place to get a men's cut, especially if you know what you like. read more

Rynae is a great hair dresser. I started going to World Cuts about 4 years ago when I randomly wandered in and haven't been able to find anywhere with the same bang for my buck. I now live on the other side of the bay, but I make the commute to Berkeley in order to get my hair cut because no where local does as good a job. I've had my hair cut by some of the other gals that work here and they're good too, but Rynae is #1. As one of the other reviewers said, I can sit down in the chair and say "just make it look good," with no further input, and 20 minutes later I walk out with a great cut. read more

crummy place. I came in looking for a 'normal' guys haircut, although my hair can possibly be tricky because it's really curly and really thick. The people there were friendly enough, but my hairdresser did a really disappointing job. After my haircut was mostly done, I tried to explain to her how it seemed to be poofing out, but she kept on repeating that she couldn't correct it because it 'wouldn't look good'. Eventually gave up, received a haircut that was too short on top, too long on the sides, and left disappointed. Won't be returning. read more

This place is great for stylish hair cuts. (Didn't try anything else yet but I bet it's good too) I got a decent but totally boring hair cut the other day at another place - I felt terrible and when I tried to tell the hair dresser that this isn't what I want he didn't change it but kicked me out! And it was the most expensive haircut I've ever had. Afterwards I was obsessed with my hair. I wanted a new style as quick as possible. I found Worlds Cut on yelp. I was suspicious because it was so cheap but went because there are open on Sunday - I really didn't want to wait. I came at a good time and was in and out in 45 minutes with a great stylish hair cut and she even shod me how to style it. She did a really good job making my hair stylish without cutting off more of the length. A piece of advice: always bring a picture off what you want with you to the hairdresser, it makes it easier. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE. I cannot speak to their haircut abilities, but every time I have gone in for a Brazilian wax it has been amazing. They always treat me extremely nicely, and the woman that does the waxing is very sweet. She talks to you during the process, and she actually remembers you! I have only been in here 3 or 4 times, but I feel like she already can recite everything that I have told her. She is so amazingly nice and pays very close attention to detail, which is important when you're having your downstairs waxed. On top of this, the wax is NOT expensive. I only pay $35 for the wax, and I usually end up tipping at least $10, for a total of $45. Anyone who has gotten a Brazilian wax before would know this is cheap and would probably say that this is too cheap. But trust me, it really is true - it is a great quality for a very low price. While it is helpful to make appointments, especially on busy Friday afternoons, I can always walk in and expect to be done in 30 minutes. This says a lot about her speed (which is important) and also about the business as a whole. I HIGHLY recommend this place, it's the best for any college (aka cheap) kid in Berkeley!!! read more

I had recently moved to Berkeley and about a month ago I was in need of a hair cut. For a guy, I am very particular about my hair and I used YELP to guide me there. When I got there, they were very friendly and I was seated right away. The woman asked me what i was looking for and I said with scissor on the sides and not too much of at the top. Which should be fairly easy. The result was not good. The sides looked like the scissor wasn't sharp and I still had a lot of hair that wasn't the same length, and She had given me half a mullet. I asked her to change it, and she change very little and said the job was done. They are very friendly, and I'm sure that they do a decent job with a trimmer, but with a scissor I was very disappointed, and would not come back. read more

I noticed there wasn't really any reviews on their waxing services so I thought I might as well put in my two cents. First off the salon is in a great location, right across from the University, super easy to find. When I called earlier today to make an appointment for my wax ( I got a Brazilian) they were very kind and had plenty of open slots. When I went to my appointment I maybe waited for 3 minutes before the lady was free and escorted me to the little waxing room in the back. She gave me privacy while I undressed and once I was ready she came in and asked me some basic questions. I told her it was my first time but that I had waxed my legs before. She was really nice about it and explained what she was going to do. During the treatment she kept making sure that I was comfortable and that the wax wasn't too hot for me. It also wasn't awkward like I imagined it would be, she was very nice and the conversation was pleasant. She worked quickly and efficiently but also made sure she did small sections as to not hurt me. The pricing was unbeatable for the treatment. It was $35 normally but I had a coupon for 5$ off but I went ahead and gave her a $5 tip. Overall I really enjoyed my waxing and talking with the lady, they are so nice and understanding about what it is you want . 5 stars will definitely be going back! read more

Wow! I can't believe four years at Berkeley and I never noticed this place! I've been putting off getting my hair cut for well over a year because I was so used to getting it done back home (but have not been home for a while). After looking up several places on Yelp, I finally decided on this one. When I went in, all of the ladies were busy and there were two people before me. Despite that, I waited no more than 10 minutes for my turn. I got a trim and more layers for $18 (without tip) and was out the door in less than twenty minutes after my hair cut started. I got a haircut by Marilou here once and I loved it. So I can back once more. The second time I came here, Marilou was quite distracted that once my hair was done, I was not pleased. I asked for a combover and she had cut it shorter than I asked and the blending was sloppy. You can see the marks of the machine where the side of my head was cut. The fading was not seamlessly. I thought maybe it was just once and it would not happen again. Today, I came to get the same haircut but by a different woman, Darlene. At first I was hesitant to get a haircut other than Marilou herself but I was in a hurry and Marilou was occupied with another client. So I went with this employee. She looked very lost as she was cutting my hair. I was not liking how it was coming along but I remained patient because she was not done; I could only judge the final product. While she was being close to being done, Rynae comes and asks what she's doing... To which Darlene replies, "I'm blending". From what I can see, Rynae was trying to be helpful and show her HOW to do it, this woman gets a bit aggressive and tries to take the machine away from Rynae saying "I got it." If I heard correctly this woman referred to Rynae "as this old lady." They lack respect for one another. Also, I remember telling the Darlene to NOT cut any of my top hair... she did as she wanted and cut the top of my hair. Again, the blending is horrible. I tried to give this place a chance because of its affordability, positive reviews, and employee friendliness but I would not come back. I would much rather stay bald or wait until I go back to LA where haircuts are better and $10 cheaper. read more

Great price for great straight up hair cut - trimming. I don't know if this would be the place to go for a brand new trendy haircut - I've always just gotten normal trims- but they do what they do really well. And for the price, it's hard to beat. I've had two different ladies so far, both are quick and great. read more

Just got my first West Coast haircut at World Cuts, definitely think it's a great value. I went there based on the encouraging previous reviews, and they were accurate. Haircut was quick and painless, and from what I hear, pretty cheap for Berkeley ($15 + tip). Plus, it's hard to beat across Bancroft from campus for convenience. My hair cutter was really nice and kept checking with me to make sure she didn't do anything offense to my mop. I'll definitely be going back as long as I'm at UCB. read more

i've gone to this place twice and am going to go again soon! ive gotten pretty extreme haircuts here. the first time i had a part of my head shaved and the lady was very careful about it. she respected what i wanted and didn't make me feel embarrassed to ask for such an unusual haircut. i really loved my hair and got many compliments. the second time i had cut off over 10 inches of hair. i came in with long hair and came out with a cute little pixie cut. i got a different lady from before but she also did a good job on my hair. very inexpensive. the sweet ladies will try to start a conversation with you. read more
