I'm sorry to write this review because the lady who works here is nice, but yesterday I had a really bad experience in this salon: 1) I didn't feel safe regarding Covid prevention: - there was an overlapping of appointments in a very small store; - I was in the store for two hours: I never saw the hairdresser disinfecting her hands when she passed from one client to another one ( she also took cash and answered the phone), and no gloves were worn. Also, brush and com were used with different clients with no disinfection; - it was no required for clients to disinfect their hands when they came in. 2) She put too much color on my hair and for a too long time (she was busy with a different client): the hair came out much darker I wanted with red reflections I didn't want, and the roots are still light (I guess she put the color on the root too soon when it was not ready yet). She gave me the advice to mix two colors that don't match: overall, the result is really bad. My scalp got irritated, and I have been itchy since yesterday. 3) After rinsing, I noticed the hair was all tangled at the ends because it had not been washed carefully, and a large handful of hair broke while I tried to untangle them. I dried my hair myself because more appointments had come. It was the first time I went to a hairdresser in a long time. Before coming here, I had healthy blondish hair, and I went out with an irritated scalp, dark reddish damage hair I hate. I will not return. read more

I have the advantage of living just down the street from Style 2000. It's like our own personal, neighborhood salon. My wife and I have been steady customers for years and we would highly recommend you give the place a try. They are always friendly and anxious to hear exactly what type of haircut you are looking for. Making an appointment is probably a good idea but most of the time I just walk in and have little or no wait. (It wasn't bad this afternoon sitting outside in the sun for 5 minutes.) Things are still sort of unsettled for many of us as we continue to grapple with the covid mess. I, however, find a little bit of comfort at the place up the street where I get my hair cut. I was the only girl, but hey, I have pixie short hair, so the techniques needed may be similar? In and out took about 30 minutes. Clean little salon, and much less wait than Hair which is around the corner. Not the best cut I've had, not the worst; very basic. Lots of use of a razor, which has both pros and cons. I usually like a more "piece-y/ chunky" look which may be more trendy than what they offer. But for the price and convenience I really can't complain. Cash only. read more

Just off of Solano, this small barber shop/ beauty salon caught my eye. It's a simple down-to-earth hair place unlike the fancy expensive places on Solano. I woke up wanting to hack my hair - I have been debating about it for awhile and so finally did it. Sometimes change is good (particularly after a really bad week). Both hair stylists were nice and professional. My hair stylist didn't speak English very well but I prefer not having awkward conversation with hair dressers anyway. All of the other patrons were regulars and were remembered - "you want it like last time?". I was very impressed at the one stylist who cut two kids hair without any problem. I haven't got my hair cut for a really long time. So when I asked for a short do (see pictures), my stylist made sure she knew what I wanted as it was quite a big change. She checked with me throughout and was really thorough. And the cut and blow-dry was a good deal at only $15. They also offered reasonably-priced perms and coloring as well but I was too chicken to take that leap here. Overall I am pleased with the change. read more

I have never gotten an over $30 haircut. the most I have ever paid for a layering scissor cut was $25, which was their half off price at this fancy salon. I go in for a root touch up, highlights occasionally, and my routine a-line hair cut. Fanny, Mae, and Lynn all do a fabulous job. They all also give the best head massages! My new go-to hair place. Mae made sure she understood the haircut I wanted and was very efficient and attentive. She insisted on giving me a free blow dry so she could make certain the ends were even and there wasn't a stray lock of hair that she had missed. I'm Asian and have a bit of a weird wave in part of my hair that has thrown a lot of the stylists I've gone to. Mae didn't seem to have a problem getting things to line up. In about 25 minutes, she'd chopped off ~5 inches, put in layers, blow-dried and styled the hair, and had me on my way. Oh, and after a shower and leaving my hair to fend for itself, the haircut still looks good :) Awesome. read more

I have been flocking to this establishment since... well since it opened. I have had the occasional times... actually a lot, where I neglected to come to Style 2000 in favor of a relative cutting my hair instead. Yes the name to the establishment is a bit dated, yes they don't accept credit cards or checks, but the ladies working there are so nice and genuine. They greet everyone who walks in the door... or at least try to, and they do take walk-ins. I think many of the patrons including me is walk-in but that's not the point. There are 3 chairs for patrons to get their hair cut, I believe two sinks to wash hairs, and a decent, clean place to wait with plenty of magazines to read. I have had most of the ladies cut my hair I believe... I don't really have a preference on who I go to, its whoever is free at that moment, and my hair cut is fairly simple, although I've been told my head is oddly shaped. :( It's a nice small salon with super friendly employees. 15 bucks for a regular hair cut, pricier more for "longer hair", but its quite the cheap and awesome. Especially compared the more expensive places I've seen where they do a lot less and charge a lot more. Regardless enjoy! read more

This review is really for my BF. He gets his hair done here. When it comes to hair, I'm all about aesthetics but hes just looking to save some time. I think the younger women does a better job. She actually uses scissors instead of just buzzing it all off. She really only cuts as much as you like and takes feed back seriously. Long story short, after I decided to dye my hair an unnatural color over the summer; I got damage from using bleach followed by high-lift hair dye. I had cut off some but not all of the damage and was tired of how fragile the ends of my hair were. Normally, I get my hair cut around the Fairfield area but I thought that I would try a place closer to home. After reading reviews and calling some places, I decided to go here; I was looking for a place with mostly good reviews and that was within my not so large budget. I was able to go in without an appointment and waited for less than 10 minutes before it was my turn. I explained to the lady who cut my hair (I forgot to ask her name but she has shoulder length hair and was working at the middle station) that I wanted some of the damage cut off my hair and my layers fixed but I did not want too much cut off my hair overall. She cut around a half inch off my layers and length but I needed more cut off to get rid of the rest of the damage, as she pointed out. She showed me how much more would need to be cut off, about another inch and a half, then asked me if I wanted to proceed with cutting more off. I was very glad that she did this since I have had incidents in the past with people cutting my hair who would decide to cut off more of my hair than I had initially asked for, without asking my permission; or who have completely changed their attitude when I asked them to cut off more than they had already cut. As the last few inches of my length and layers had a lot of damage, my hair was not very easy to work with but she was very patient and took her time. I am very happy with how my hair turned out, it looks and feels much better. For my length of hair and layers, my haircut was $18 and took about 20 minutes. I felt that the price was pretty reasonable and I am happy that she did not rush through my haircut. read more

Love, love, love my new haircut by Lynne! Style 2000 has been my hairstylist for over 5 years. I love the convenience, great styling, and the low, low cost. Lynn had given me a perm, shampoo, and cut for the past few years - no complaints - it looked good. But last week I was ready for a change. Lynne spent a good deal of time giving me a whole new look. And I've been getting a ton of compliments on it! (They can't believe this is a $15 hair cut.) My tousled pixie cut works great with my fine hair (+two cowlicks) and is so easy to manage. I love Lyn! She is a first rate stylist at a bargain basement price. I take my kids here and the stylists are all fast and good, but Lyn is the best. Truth be told, I've even had my hair cut here when I need a cut but didn't want to wait until my regular stylist had an opening. Yay! Finally a place that listened to me and didn't cost a bundle for a kids haircut ($15)! Since moving here 5 mo ago we have gone to fancy places $25-30 for a kids cut) and to a highly recommended barbershop in Rockridge. Neither listened to what I wanted or gave as good a cut as Lynne did! And I'm really picky! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it's not the upscale, nicely decorated place I would love, but it was clean and I didn't want the price that usually goes along with all that, so all in all I'm happy and this will become our regular haircutting spot!
