I have been going to Style 2000 for many years. I have always found them to be efficient and reasonably priced. There is rarely a long wait.

Yay! Finally a place that listened to me and didn't cost a bundle for a kids haircut ($15)! Since moving here 5 mo ago we have gone to fancy places $25-30 for a kids cut) and to a highly recommended barbershop in Rockridge. Neither listened to what I wanted or gave as good a cut as Lynne did! And I'm really picky! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it's not the upscale, nicely decorated place I would love, but it was clean and I didn't want the price that usually goes along with all that, so all in all I'm happy and this will become our regular haircutting spot! I love Lyn! She is a first rate stylist at a bargain basement price. I take my kids here and the stylists are all fast and good, but Lyn is the best. Truth be told, I've even had my hair cut here when I need a cut but didn't want to wait until my regular stylist had an opening. I hope Style 2000 stays open forever, or at least until my kids move out of the house. This place is a no frills salon, you won't get your aromatherapy or even a shampoo, but you'll get much more than your money's worth if you come here. read more

Great place. Friendly, efficient, and good looking haircut for a very reasonable price. My life is busy; I usually call an hour before I want an appointment, and $15 later and under 30 minutes, I am on my way. Tip generously, this is a very high quality yet affordable place. read more

Been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience. The wait can be long on weekends, but it is a relaxed place to sit. Seems to be very popular place for parents to take their kids as they are always super patient and careful. Get the really tall woman to do you hair for best results. read more

I like these ladies a lot. Kind, professional, and damn good at cutting Asian guy hair. This is where I go now.

Went in for a buzz cut and a beard trim this afternoon as there was a line at Heads down the street and I needed it done today. Service was quick and the hairdresser did a good job, but was a little pricey. Buzz cut was $15 - I'd say that's about five bucks too much (at Heads it was $12). Beard trim was $6 which I think was reasonable. read more

Moved here from SF in July 2015, contemplated taking BART to my old barber in downtown SF because finding a right barber is always a hassle. I found this place on Yelp, tried it based on good reviews, and I am super happy. Just had my second visit here this morning, and the lady (Fannie) remembered me from my first visit two months ago! The price $15 for the basic cut, but worth $25 to me. Friendly, efficient, attentive to your wishes, and remembers your preferences on the second visit... wow. read more

Great inexpensive place to get a child's cut. Owned and operated by 2 sisters. Simple, unpretentious salon on Solano Ave. They only take cash, which I didn't have but they kindly let me hop over to Safeway for $. Cut cost $15 for my 3yr olds haircut. Will definitely be back. A no frills place, not for the gal/guy who likes to pay $80+ a cut. Spray bottle, no wash kinda salon. My daughter was especially happy with the candy treat offered up for behaving so well during the cut. read more

I almost hesitate to write a good review because I don't like making appointments, and part of what I love about Style 2000 is that you almost never have to wait. If too many people hear about it, I will have to change my life style. Still I have been going to the shop for at least a decade now and they deserve a break. Because I have thin frizzy hair, I go fairly often to have my hair blown into an orderly shape. I often get comments from other people in the shop about the transformation. And the price is unbeatable- only $8. I also get my hair cuts here. Both Lin and Mai are friendly and talented. i take whoever is available first. Their English is serviceable, but sometimes has gaps. As other people have noted, they are great with kids and teenagers. read more

I've cried for 3 days after my haircut there. Lynn was rude and unapologetic after ruining my hair. I wanted a long even style. She gave me a short layered style which was longer on one side than the other. I felt like she was punishing me for complaining about her cutting my hair too short. In Asian countries if kids are unruly they would cut their hair short and uneven as punishment. I had flashbacks of my childhood and Lynn was now my teacher. read more

Mae is a superb stylist. She listens to me when I describe how I want my hair cut, and she definitely gets the job done, and done well. She is very friendly and attentive to my tonsorial needs. Although I have only had my hair cut by Mae, the other ladies in the shop do a great job from what I see while I'm there. And another great thing, the charge is only $15, a real bargain for what you receive. read more

Started to write this full review in 2013 and never got beyond the 5 stars. Now, four years later, I am still a fan! This place is a gem! (My husband turned me on to it.) I have never had a disappointing hair cut here. Rarely have to wait. And the cost is so reasonable. I usually ask for Lin, but have been happy with whomever is available. Sweet people who have a knack for working with textured hair. And you can always count on that little boost at the end: "You look so much younger now." :-) read more

I THINK THIS PLACE IS A STEAL--Lynn and May both know what they are doing and they charge so little (15.00 per cut) and are so grateful for a $5 tip! My hair is very straight, for a blunt bob that has a lot of swing they do tiny layers or stacking, 'sculpt' it with a razor, 'clean' the hair off the back and essentially do a careful, well-crafted job. If you have something super-specific in mind bring a picture or be prepared to repeat yourself a few times about length or details because they are ESL speakers. They cut both my young sons' hair and do a great job, and my sons like them. I feel like I not only get a great cut but also support two working moms who came to this country to get ahead--and work their butts off! read more

When we moved to Albany, we needed to find a place to get our kids' hair cut. At the time, they were 2 and 4. Yelp pointed us to Style 2000, and we couldn't be happier. The ladies have a very gentle and welcoming manner with children, and they seem to be able to give anyone a great haircut. I also get my hair cut here, and I'm very happy with it. read more

My husband and son have been coming here for years. They do a great job and are very affordable. If I had to pick a favorite I'd say Lynn, she uses scissors more than the buzzer which is better for their type of hair. read more

I went here about 4 or 5 times it has all been good except for today. I went in and i asked for a trim of 1 cm instead she cut my hair 1 inch. I wont be going to style 2000 again. read more

Friendly, good haircuts, very reasonable prices. I've only ever had my hair cut by Fannie and have always been happy with the cut.

Just want to chime in after all this time that this is still our go-to for our kids cuts. The quality is very good and they are so nice to our little ones. We continue to receive so many compliments on our daughters' cuts. read more
