What an amazing discovery we made roadtripping back from Florida. Had our sights set on good southern BBQ, decided to stop in Thomasville. First we stopped at another bbq place. Looked it over, walked in & out. Looked like a shack, but some of the best bbq we have ever had was from a roadside shanty. We weren't vibing, so we looked further. Best choice ever! On the main street thru town, Woodstack presents as a warm country home. Entering we were immediately met with sincere southern hospitality. We sat in the large dining room, which has homey feel. Connected is a large bar area with tables as well, which was packed at 2pm on a Sunday (they close at 3 on Sundays) Extensive menu of bbq! Tough making choices. I had pulled chicken with crispy Brussel sprouts that feature a maple glaze. Person with me had brisket. We ordered, hot plate of deliciousness was before us in under 10 minutes. Everything piping hot, bursting with flavor and generously portioned. My sides: the mac & cheese was best I have ever had! And the crispy brussels were amazing. So much chicken, could not finish it. Juicy, smoky flavor. And their sauces are amazing compliment, although it did not need it! Brisket also tender, smoky & delicious. Only thing I did not enjoy was the slab of bread. Personally I think it should be toasted. Didn't touch it. The pickled garnish..try it! WOW!!! Pickles, carrots & onions. I wish there was more. Food was phenomenal. Service was fast & friendly. This was a pitstop on a roadtrip, and we were in & out so quick with bellies full and some leftovers. This particular roadtrip is going to happen multiple times a year for a while. Seriously good BBQ and great for kids! We tried Woodstack Barbecue tonight and had an awesome experience. We were seated right away and started with the jumbo onion rings--they were cooked perfectly and tasted so good dipped in the BBQ sauce. I had the sausage with mac & cheese and fries. The mac & cheese was amazing (the consistency was spot on) and the fries are super unique because they use their meat rub on them. My partner got the brisket plate with coleslaw and sweet potato; the brisket was nice and lean. Even the kids were happy! They had the child's sausage and pulled pork plates. The atmosphere is totally kid-friendly and our waitress was outstanding. We'll definitely be back! read more

Food service and ambiance perfect. Tonight was our first night eating here. We live in Cairo and wanted something new and delicious. This place was perfect. Was very nice quiet and delicious. Our service food and server was great. I had a pulled chicken sandwich with a salad and homemade ranch. It was delicious. We named this style of BBQ Nouveau Que. We were made welcomed when we walked in the door. Several things impressed me about the restaurant. When I asked a question, the waitress knew the answer to how items were prepared and what was in them. She was friendly and patient. She expertly painted a picture with her words of each dish we ask about, from the sweet potato fries to the Brunswick stew. The sweet potato fries are made in house, cut into wedges, fried and sprinkled with butt rub instead of the usual cinnamon sugar concoction This sounded very good. I wish I could remember the waitress's name but she was there when they started. I ordered an appetizer at Brunswick stew and a chopped brisket sandwich. My side was baked beans. Everything came out together, but that is not the waitress's fault. I did not ask to have my stew brought out early. my dining companions ordered pulled pork sandwiches. One had the coleslaw and the other the fried brussels sprouts with a maple glaze. I must say that my chopped brisket sandwich was the best of all three. It was moist and fat to meat ratio was perfect. I especially enjoyed the pickle on top of the bun. It was made in house and was delicious. They also make a hot pickle carrot salad that comes as a small side. I liked the bun pickles better. The coleslaw was good and the brussels sprouts were very sweet with the maple glaze. I liked them. You had your choice of many sauces on the table. One was a regular sauce, one a mustard sauce, a vinegar sauce, and a combination of them both. I tend to like a sweeter sauce. But I'm not a mustard fan. The baked beans were flavorful but a tad dry. I just put more regular bbq sauce on them. I really want to try the sweet potato fries next time. Management was on deck, walking around making sure that everyone's service and meals were to their liking. He was friendly and explained why they wanted to do business and Thomasville. Wow. Just Wow! We've been meaning to come here since they opened earlier in the year. What a shame we waited this long. Dinner there this evening was outstanding. Fresh, hot, crackling pork rinds with "BBQ Dust" sprinkled on top. Side of pepper jelly for dipping. Tried all the wonderful BBQ sauces with the pork rinds as our tasting vessel. I ate so many I was afraid I was going to be full before dinner came. I had the pulled pork sandwich with pimento cheese and sliced pickle medley. Delicious. And those sides! Sweet potato wedge fries and maple glazed, fried Brussel sprouts. Holy Moly. I died and went to heaven. He got the pork ribs and burnt ends, Mac and Cheese and butterbean/corn mix. Those ribs were big, meaty, moist and delicious. Burnt ends with a beautiful ratio of meat to fat. Some restaurants, all you get is chunks of fat. Not here. And the service? Outstanding. I can't remember our server's name but she was doing double duty bartending and serving. She was dynamite. Great service skills with a personality to match. Lots of local beers to choose from and a full bar. Our server told us about their specialty cocktails and I'll have to give them a try next go. And next go can't come soon enough. Five Stars for Woodstack BBQ! Finally got around to trying Woodstack BBQ, the new kid on the block--and let me just say, they absolutely nailed it. From the second I walked in, the smell alone let me know I was in for something special. That smoky, savory aroma hits you like a warm hug and makes you twice as hungry as you were when you pulled into the lot. I was greeted with smiles and told it'd be a quick 10-minute wait, which honestly flew by thanks to the nice touch of having peanuts and cold water out on the porch. Hospitality matters, and they've got it in spades. Once seated, my server was polite, attentive, and on point--my tea glass never saw the bottom. The food? Outstanding. The pulled pork was flavorful and juicy, the brisket sliced like butter (not kidding), and even the sides deserve a standing ovation. The slaw was crisp and fresh, the mac was creamy and rich, and that house-made balsamic dressing on the salad? Chef's kiss. Do NOT order the onion rings. They were so greasy they were inedible. When we mentioned this to the server, she said, I guess they need to drain them longer. My husband's smoked chicken was very good and he said the coleslaw was as well. I doubt we will return but it was worth trying for the first time. I had the brisket and it was excellent! I tried all of the different sauces and they were good as well. The service was fast and the restaurant was full so that was good. I am always looking out for good brisket when traveling. My wife found this place and saw good reviews so we went after I was done working for the day. I was told by the waitress that brisket was their specialty. I ordered the brisket plate and wanted the wet or moist cut. It was not really that moist but the rub and crust on the meat was so good. If they can get a really moist center cut from the brisket this would take my #1 in brisket. I will give it my #2 though for flavor. Loved the building. People are very friendly and take care of you. Best bbq I have had in Alabama or Georgia. I'm from Texas and the brisket here is the closet I've had to what we have there, and the burnt ends were awesome also. They do fried okra whole and it was great and the beans were also. We had a table of seven and the service was great. I would highly recommend this place! read more
