Decided on this place after attending a play at the MOH; was in the mood for some "southern"…read morehome-style comfort food. We weren't disappointed in terms of the tastiness of the food. The place is located in a shopping plaza; not a lot of room (only about 5 or 6 tables); quite a few people came in to pick up orders. In any case, I ordered curry chicken and rice with collard greens (cooked in turkey), fried sweet plantains, and a cornbread muffin. My friend had "melt in your mouth" bbq ribs with potato salad and collard greens. The folks seated next to us, with whom we started a conversation, ordered pulled pork, collard greens, and potato salad and fried chicken, yams, and collard greens. We all enjoyed our meals, except I wasn't too crazy about the fried plantains - they were cooked a bit too "crispy" for me and they weren't "juicy." Note, the person at the cash register was very pleasant, super nice and accommodating. The only downfall was that several pesky flies were flying around, and we had to ensure they didn't land on our food! (Hopefully, they were only in the dining area). In any case, I plan to return to sample other items on the menu - the food was really good. Interestingly, there are photos on the wall of various "famous folks" who may have visited Roscoe's in the past (perhaps at a different location).

I am the daughter of a fisherman so have eaten more than my share of fish and hush puppies in my life. These hush puppies made me want to fall off my chair. The outside was crunchy good and the inside was as light as air, literally melted in your mouth. I truly have never had such a good hush puppy and my Mom made some darn good ones. So plan your visit for a Thursday some time! They also have some new T-shirts with a print on the back of a painting done by Mrs. Paul's - great granddaughter I think is correct. Nice colors, really nice T-shirt. If you are in the Dawson area and you don't go here, you're really missing a great Southern food experience, as well as a place that's clean, staffed by nice people and is a great value. No way! Using only one hand (since I was driving) I stripped that wing of all the meat. The flavor was so darned good! I've been back three more times and can say the wings are delicious. Not so much the perch. I'll stick to wings.
