OK, so let me get this straight y'all tell me there's never been a loaded barbecue potato yall give me the ingredients separate along with that you give me a rotten potato I come on here and make a review, upload the proof you tell me to email y'all, weeks go by and y'all ignore the email. I've been in here multiple times and have had good food. But the last time I came was Jan 4 2024 and I was at work and my food was awful. I get the same thing almost every time so I knew it didn't taste right. I ate two bites of my sandwich and threw it away. I honestly tried to eat it because I didn't want to send it back but it wasn't edible and I didn't want to get sick. Usually have a good experience here but I won't be back for awhile. read more

Chicken had a foul odor, dry and tasteless with rubbery skin. The manager tried telling me everything they do is smoked with all wood, what little did she know they in fact use only gas assist pits, not wood burning as I explained are much different, hence their baked like product lacking real bbq flavor. The adjacent table complained about the chicken as well. They were so kind as to charge only for my drink and side salad while crediting the untouched inedible chicken left on the plate. read more

Typical Sonnys BBQ but if you do the drive thru make sure you get everything. I specifically asked for butter for my sweet potato, sweet BBQ sauce and plastic utensils since I'm staying in a hotel. I ordered a beef brisket sandwich and a baked potato and had it delivered with DoorDash on Friday night and it was delicious. There was so much meat on the bun that I had enough left over for the next day. I ordered it again Sunday night and it was stone cold there was very little meat and a slab of fat instead. I was very disappointed in the quality and the difference between Friday and Sunday. read more

Newly renovated - and absolutely stunning! I really wanted to give 5 stars because the food was insanely delicious!!! However, when walking in we were confused whether we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait to be seated; as there were several staff just kind of standing around while we stood there confused. Also after we got our food the waitress never gave us silverware. So I had this beautiful dish of food sitting in front of me with nothing to eat it with. She was then laughing and having a super long conversation with the table next to us - after promising to get me my silverware! Then when she saw me picking at my food with my hands she goes "omg I need to just go home" as she laid the silverware on the table rather abruptly.. AMAZING FOOD - weird service read more

Went in early on a week night, for something different, wanted to beat the crowd. Got a new waitress, which is fine. We got the food, all the meat was very dry, like it was held over from lunch, we didn't eat much of it. Sat there forever, another waitress took pity on us, brought us our bill, very disappointing. Since the refurb, place has been much improved, not this time. Will not go back any time soon. read more

We always stop for pulled pork sandwich. Delish. Always fast service. Hubby doesn't like to stop when we are on a road trip but when there is fast service, good food and clean restrooms there is no argument. We just stop when we see an exit with a Sonny's Barbecue sign. read more

After dining at the Thomasville, GA location, my mother, myself, my son, and my husband all became sick. My husband's sickness was so severe that he had to be seen at the emergency room (at the time of the visit, we didn't realize that it might be food poisoning because he got sick before the rest of us). We contacted the company and after ONE MONTH, someone from home office contacted us, and since the only thing we all had was the BBQ sauce on the table, they said they would test that bottle before determining if they thought they were liable for the emergency room bill. I mentioned at the time that since it had been a month, there was no way it was the same BBQ sauce that we had had that day. They sent us several forms to fill out that we had to pay to fax to them. They never contacted us regarding this and when we contacted them, they said that they tested the BBQ sauce and had determined that they were not liable. It's very convenient to wait that long before following up so that there is no way you can prove it was your restaurant, and therefore get out of paying when you make people sick. We will NEVER return to another Sonny's again. Ever. It's not worth the $3,000+ emergency room bill for mediocre BBQ. read more

I remember stopping at Sonny's 50 or so years ago on our way to Georgia. Stopped in today on my way to Georgia. Very mediocre BBQ. Fried okra was bland. What gave them the 3 stars was Yuengling on tap. Can't get it out in Vegas. read more

So fed up with companies thinking people are stupid. Every company that I can think of, from sugar to makeup, have increased their prices while cutting the quantities...like consumers aren't going to notice this??? Well Sonny's is no different. The Feast for 4 that used to be $36 and truly feed 4 people is now $40.99 and they have cut sides down from quarts to pints, even on the fries and bread. The meats are not too bad as far as chicken (which is cheapest), but the pork and brisket are enough for ONE bite per person and that's if it it's edible. Not one of us could eat the brisket this past time because what little bit of meat that was attached to the fat was so tough that you couldn't chew it, in fact, even the fat was tough. It was a lump of chopped fat, ugh!!! So their Feast might feed 2 adults and 2small children, it definitely isn't going to feed 3 adults, much less four. You are better off buying 4 different meals...or better yet, find somewhere else to eat. read more

Although the exterior of Sonny's is new and improved the food is not! The good things I can say is the service was great. Very attentive service with lack luster food. One reason I loved Sonny's was the best salad bar ever, the new one doesn't compare at all, it reminded me of the Pizza Hut salad bar with a few additions. The ribs were dry and you only tasted the sauce. But if you are only shopping for a great glass of tea this this the place. That's all I would order again. read more

Pretty standard Sonny's. Seated quickly, quick drink service, quick order taking, and quick meal service. Good waitress. Ordered brisket which was the best you could find outside of Texas. Only downside was that my favorite mustard based dressing was only available in packets. Don't know who made the decision not to put in bottles, but that was something that made Sonny's stand apart from the barbecue crowd. read more

BBQ. Very few restaurants that mass serve BBQ, just don't get it right. This was not the case at sonnys, and I don't ever remember it being that way. Sonny's knows BBQ. Particularly when I was there yesterday I was full but I just couldn't stop eating. My meat was moist and flavorful, my fries were hot and the kind of crunch that fries should be. The macaroni and cheese had the perfect balance of cheesy and moist. And the service; Perfect. It's been a while since I've had a server that was so attentive. We had a group of 6 adults. All different meals, all different tabs and demands. She kept up well. She didn't get flustered or annoyed, and the girls she was working with that night were super helpful. Will update when we give this place another shot... We were sat immediately, and told that they have 2 beer options - Bud Lt and Yuengling. We order one of each, and the sampler platter for dinner. We were told they ran out of beer so ordered tea instead, which they paid for. Then we were told they were out of ribs, which is what we came for. We went elsewhere for dinner. The only thing this place has going for it are the friendly front of house staff. The hostess and waitress were very sweet and handled the obviously poor management well. read more

My favorite bar b-q place until recently. For some time now...you walk in and nobody wants to make eye contact with you or greet you!! They look mad. Also, smaller portions and they like to give you a lot of FAT! I have to specifically order "no fat please" with my pulled pork meal otherwise, you've got to call the waitress over and show her. My husband and I stop here whenever we are traveling through Thomasville. The food and service has always been decent, but this spot needs help! It took us 40min to get our food and then the redneck egg rolls and fried okra were burnt. When we complained my food was taken to "show" the manager. Never to be seen again. My wife and I have eaten at Sonny's for many years, since our now adult children were small. We ate there because the food was good and the prices were reasonable. The food is still good, however the prices are now so high it is cheaper to eat at a steakhouse. We order the same thing each time- two big deals. Not so long ago (maybe 3 years?) it was $7 for the sandwich, a side, and a drink. Then it was $7.50, then $7.99. OK, prices go up over time. It's now almost $11 for the same thing. The historic big deal is now no deal. You order the $7.50 sandwich and then add in a side and drink for $3. We spent $21 w/o tax and tip. Rated at two stars due to the cost, no longer planning to eat there since we can get better food for less money elsewhere. read more
