I was staying in Thomasville for a fsu football game. I figured this was the kind of small south Georgia town that would have amazing BBQ. This was the only non-chain BBQ restaurant I found and unfortunately it didn't really win me over. Let's start with the good. The service was absolutely amazing! Absolutely no complaints for the staff. Even the other customers were great with recommendations. The server recommended the combo thing that has a few different meats, 2 sides and drinks. The bbq was mostly dry and not hot. We had the pork, brisket and chicken. The mac and cheese was ok, but dry. The Brunswick stew was sweet which I didn't like. However the other customers loved it so if you are interested in sweet stew then you should try it. We also had the fried pickles which were pretty good and the fried mushrooms which were ok. The package was supposed to come with ribs but they didn't have any so didn't get to try that. Same goes for the banana pudding. All in all, I felt it was very average bbq. read more

I dropped in for a late lunch on a Monday and received great service that was fast and pleasant. I ordered a platter with burnt ends and chicken. Instead of the two sides that it comes with, I got the salad bar and, boy, did it not disappoint! It's a very casual dining restaurant so wear whatever you like. I may have had a bad taste in my mouth about how I was treated in the past, but as a honest/reporting "yelper" I have to continue to review and update. That being said, the best thing about Fallin's at this juncture in the "game" is by far the service Ms. Frannie brings to the table. She is and has always been nice, friendly, courteous, and professional. I have been purchasing the Porkita and cup of Brunswick stew lately for my wife. She hasn't had any complaints other than the consistency of the the stew. Sometimes it will have a great load of juice, and others be over loaded with ingredients, and almost devoid of juice. Back in the day, the Porkita was made with actual Italian garlic toast and therefore had more "real estate" to it...now they use "Texas Toast" which limits the amount of meat that can be placed. As far as the amount of meat, I haven't weighed it, (why would I? That would be petty to say the least), so I can't tell if the amounts are somewhat the same or different. Back in the day, the best thing on the menu as far as I am concerned was the "Stanley salad" which was created for a return regular customer, Stanley...lol. On my way to Valdosta, I wanted to check out the BBQ in Thomasville. I chose Fallin's because of the 4 star rating on Yelp and the photos looked BBQ-rific. It's so sad that it turned out to be disappointing. My disappointment with Fallin's was the one thing you have to make sure you get right with BBQ and that is the meat. I ordered burnt ends brisket and asked for some pulled pork to be thrown on the plate. To their credit, they did add pulled pork to my plate and only for a $3 charge. I should have stopped there because both of my meats were D-R-Y! It was chewable and edible. It actually had a decent taste to it but it was just way too dry. It looked so promising and failed epically. Now that I have that out of the way, I want to be fair and talk about what was good. There are 3 BBQ sauces that were pretty good - sweet, mustard, and a peppery tomato base on the medium side for me. The mac and cheese was baked homemade. The slaw was really good as it was chopped and creamy. The toast had a garlic butter on it. My sweet tea was sweet and refreshing. Fallin's has a feel of a locally owned mom and pop place. I wonder if it has been a family owned business for many years. I do say they did get creative with their menu names. I did enjoy seeing the photo on the wall on the way out of the Auburn wide receiver almost being bit by UGA. No I am not a Georgia fan. I just hate Auburn. Roll Tide! I would want to say that I wish this was just a one-time experience and I was just the unlucky winner about the dry meat. But I see other reviews about the BBQ being too dry. A friend and I went in for late lunch. The website said "closes at 9pm." My friend asked to be sure when we got there and the waitress told her 3pm. It was around 2 or so already, but she said no problem and that we were just fine with ordering. I can't remember what she ordered, big joe sandwich, I think. I got the 1/2 chicken plate with fried mushrooms and Brunswick stew. I usually get the Stanley salad with grilled chicken. Whoowee, it came out quickly and looked amazing! Mine was cooked perfectly and was so very good. I've been going here since I was a little girl. Right after Big Joe retired, I'm not going to lie, the food quality and taste went down pretty quick and I was worried they'd not be open much longer. But let me tell ya'll, the delicious food is back and so are great people and serving staff. We got to meet JJ, one of the chefs and Kaylee (might be spelled wrong) but they were the nicest people and never tried making us feel rushed. Even though, by the time we finished eating, several other people and families came in and ate too. I never saw them send one person away. This was their early day too, being they normally close at 3 and to boot, on a Sunday. If I could give them a 20review I would. So Fallin's, thank you for being a piece a go-to place for Thomasville. Granted, there have been some changes since Mr. Joe Fallin passed the torch to his children. However, the food is still really good and is one of my favorites. The burnt ends, while a little pricey, are so delicious! We love picking them up and pairing them with some sides at home. I frequently grab the kids BBQ sandwich for lunch and the steak fries are my very favorite thing. We eat inside occasionally but most often use the drive thru. Fran and others in the drive thru are very helpful and pleasant. They take good care of us. read more

Got the Stanley salad, it was fantastic. Wife got a burger, it fantastic too. Family owned and operated, which is great, I prefer local businesses. So give em a try, you'll be pleasantly surprised. This is a really good place. I enjoyed it quite a bit. You can tell that it is locally owned. They aren't flashy or trying to be. Just a normal restaurant that sells the best food they know how to make. I went with my friends, and we shared our food. The Brunswick stew tasted like beef vegetable soup - which is not necessarily a bad thing. I just expected it to be a little different. The collard greens had a good flavor. Not overwhelming, but a light vinegar taste. A solid option. The chopped pork was really good. Had a good char and good smokey flavor. The burnt ends were actually burnt. Which is what you want in burnt ends. The sweet tea was legit. They make their own sauces. And they had four different ones to choose from. One was mustard based. One was a "hot sauce." One was "regular." The other was a mild. I could not tell what the base of the bbq sauces was. But they had a distinctive zing to them. It was familiar but I couldn't place it. Either way - they were really good. The banana pudding was seriously some of the best I've ever had in my entire life. Overall, I give it 4*. It was really good, but it didn't blow my doors off. Was looking for a lunch spot and just happen to see this place. We noticed a bunch of people going in so we decided to give it a try. The service was very good, our server was very nice answered any questions about the menu. The food was very good and we enjoyed our meal, also got a quart of Brunswick stew to take home. It's ok, I prefer a slow cooked easy off the bone barbecue without any sauce needed. This is a more sauce required bbq because it is a little dry however the flavor is good. We stopped here a week after hurricane Michael and they were having trouble with their supply lines so they didn't have the full menu but still hands down the best barbecue dinner I've ever had! Horrible. I was going to eat somewhere else but the great reviews and the fact that it was near my motel convinced me to eat here. I was seated quickly enough but then it went down hill. took a while to take my order. but I had my phone and facebook. she finally brought my drink and asked my order. turns out Cole slaw and potato salad are on the salad bar which I ordered. she suggested I order a couple other sides. which seemed like a good idea. the problem is she forgot about me. I eventually got so pissed I was ready to walk out. she finally sent the other waitress over to do her job. that waitress screwed up my sides. but my first waitress fixed it. I made my salad and after about three bites she brought my food. really? glad it was quick but by the time I finish my salad the bbq is cold. I try to remember that this is Thomasville. be patient. time moves slower in gooberville. I dive into the bbq. I test the sauces. there is a sweet mustard base. a revolting hot sauce base. a sweet molasses and a regular. as I am trying the mustard based I look up and see bugs crawling all around the lid. gross. this is a sign of them not cleaning the things. I nicely point it out to the waitress. she takes it and says "those dang sugar ants" and walks off. no apology. no attempt to bring a clean one. just off. if I were a waitress and this happened I would be mortified. I would apologise profusely. I would tell the owners and management. nothing. really? nothing. the salad was ok. the onions peppers and tomatoes were cut into huge slices. like the person that made it had never ate a salad. the pork was good. as good as previous reviewer's make it sound? no. hell no. the Brunswick stew and baked beans were decent after I squirted bbq sauce in them. the waitress barely deserved a tip. but I gave her a dollar fifty. and that was still a dollar and a quarter more than she deserved. Stopped in on our way to North Georgia. Service was fantastic and fast. Brisket plate with coleslaw and loaded collards brought me back to eating BBQ with my grandparents. It was delicious! Sandwich was VERY dry, small portions, and high priced. Service at drive through was fair at best. Also be careful it's a very tight squeeze at the window and easy to do damage to your wheels when pulling off from the drive thru window. I don't recommend the food & will not return. We hadn't been to Fallin's in a long time, but my in-laws were in town and we decided to take them. We were extremely underwhelmed and disappointed. The food was mediocre at best, the sauces weren't as good as they used to be, and nothing was hot. The fries and other fried items had a rancid aftertaste like they were using old grease. The meat was flavorless and barely warm. Pretty much the only thing that was worth eating was the salad bar and the pickle spears they bring when you arrive. The only reason I gave two stars rather than just one star was that our waiter was very nice. We probably won't be back. read more

Fallin's is a good place. It's homey and small town, that's for sure. Doesn't look like the interior has changed in twenty years. But I digress, onto the food. They bring complimentary pickles to the table which is pretty great. We ordered corn nuggets for the table, quite yummy but tasted like every other corn nugget. I ordered burnt ends with loaded greens and mac n cheese. The mac n cheese was very cheesy, nothing special but good. Loaded greens were a bit under done, and not very loaded. I've had them here before and they were way better, just an off day. My burnt end looked like chunks of chopped up brisket, and one piece had a nice little crust on one side of it.. not exactly what I hope for when I order burnt ends. All in all it's fine, I'll come back again. The 78 food score sort of freaked me out while I was leaving, so be weary of that. read more
