The egg rolls were soggy, the hot and sour soup was neither in addition to being cool, and the Mongolian Beef was flavorless. My friend's been talking about this place for years; he says he grew up eating it and it's great Chinese food. I guess if you never leave Pacoima, there's not much to compare it to, and you might think that, but it's just not that good. I've had four different dishes here - none of them were anything special to write home about. Actually, the brown rice with eggs was pretty good, maybe even better than most, but the sweet and sour sucked, and the beef & broccoli was more like fat and broccoli. They do pack some almond cookies in with the order, something a lot of Chinese places aren't doing any more, so kudos for that. I didn't feel obliged to finish all the left overs the next day, which says something by itself. Personally, I'd cancel this place, but I fear my friend's child hood fondness of Wong's may subject me to being force fed it some time in the future. One time we ordered a combination of food from Wong's, and we have been ordering the same thing almost every time since. It's good! We like ordering the Canton Dinner for Three (or Four, if there's more people), with an extra Shrimp Cantonese. It has Shrimp Chow Mein, Sweet and Sour Shrimp, some other chicken dish with vegetables the name of which I don't know, Pork Fried Rice, Fried Shrimp, and little pieces of pork wrapped in tin foil that are very juicy and flavorful. And of course, the Shrimp Cantonese. For me, the thing that sets Wong's apart is the unique taste of the dishes. I don't know if you'll know what I mean, but it's like the Chow Mein from one place tastes a lot like the Chow Mein from another. Not here. Every version of the dishes has a good but different taste. Another good thing: it's inexpensive. At other places I've spent $60 to $70 to feed the family, but here it's more like $35. Canton Dinner for Three is enough to feed the family (we all like to sample from each dish). Most of the times we order before hand and pick it up for takeout. The parking there is very limited. And if you value ambiance, you may not like it, sometimes you have to wait to be seated and it gets kind of loud. They don't open Mondays and it's cash only. read more

Family owned restaurant been coming here since I was a child. I love their Shrimp Fried Rice, Triple Delight, Shrimp Chowmein with soft noodles. It's a hole in the wall, can be extremely busy on weekends, closed on Mondays,no delivery but they have pickup, and only accept cash. The food is amazingly good, VERY affordable, with generous portions, and the staff is friendly. It's one of the only places I am willing to drive 2 hours to quench my Chinese food cravings. This restaurant is hidden in a little plaza, but hands down the best orange chicken I've had! Crispy on the outside, juicy chicken on the inside. Also, the chow mein wasn't pale & had enough of that "soy gravy sauce" & protein, which is what you definitely want from chow mein. Beef broccoli was def a home run, so good! Open since 1987, great hole in the wall family run restaurant in the SF Valley. The parents still work their and the adult children manage the restaurant. They are very kind, down to earth, and hard working. Keep in mind that it's a hole in the wall and could use a remodel, but the owners are wonderful and service if efficient. I hate to be a Karen but oh my. I ordered on grubhub and had a total of about $60. totally fine. not at all what i'm complaining about... my order was expected to get to me within 30-40 minutes. again, totally fine. my issue starts when my food was arriving. i received a phone call from the delivery person saying they were here. i met up with the person and said they could leave it on the ground/wall to avoid getting too close. he decided to judge every single thing i ordered. and then proceeded to say "where's my tip?". I told him i would much rather tip in cash as most people like to receive it that way even during a pandemic. and he seemed to have a problem with that. and the FUNNIEST part of this entire interaction was when he said "i drove 10 miles" the restaurant to my house is 5 miles. seriously ? i'm not stupid. i've been ordering from here for YEARS. the nerve of this guy. i decided i no longer wanted to put up with it so i grabbed my food said thanks and walked away. and he didn't want to give me MY receipt. worst service ever. i probably won't be ordering again. read more

I went there yesterday on 05/27/2020 with a friend of mine and this was the second in about 6 weeks and this time the items I order were so greasy, tasteless , overpriced and way smaller portions. I didn't even finish my lunch special and about 2 hours later I got stomach cramps from there food.
