Natick Mall has really changed since when I was a child. It still at heart is a mall, but now it…read morehas lots to offer. I think the most prevalent thing I've noticed is how there are a lot of entertainment options now. Dave and Busters was the first to open, followed by Level 99. Now there's also a Puttshack and a Bosee Pickleball club. I think this adds a layer because it turns into "just a mall" to a social gathering spot where you could shop, eat, or have fun. There's something for all ages with this. Now when it comes to the shopping, there's still your average clothing stores, there's beauty and jewelry stores like Sephora and Pandora, and also a Macys if you want a department store. There's also a wing with more high-level luxury stores, like a Zara, Louis Vitton, Tiffany, and David Yurman. I think this area is nice if you want luxury but not to travel into Boston. There's a lot of empty stores in this wing too so hopefully they get filled soon. Food options are good too, they have a food court, Cheesecake Factory, P.f. chang's., California Kitchen pizza, and the food inside of the entertainment places too. Overall this mall has been renovated a lot, and I think for the better. It encompasses a lot and you don't have to come here just to shop, but you can if you'd like. I will say though they have plenty of parking which includes free garages, people are still unkind around the holidays and you might be circling around for a while before you find a spot. Parking is always hard here no matter what and I know people who avoid this mall because of it, which is sad but I get it. I heard if you come on a weekday morning it's better.

There is also a kiosk you can use if you don't have the app. The roads in this area can be a bit challenging to navigate. If it's a nice day, just walk over. The interior is very high energy. I love the metal musician sculptures. The huge diorama by one of the entrances shows this spot in Worcester when the canal was the main source of traffic for goods. This is after all The Canal District. Today the canal is under the street just outside that door. Times they do change things. I very much appreciate these types of eating venues. Where everyone can get what they want. Sushi, Cuban, Burgers, Italian ice, Boba, Cookies. Options. For shopping you'll find a wine merchant, The Market Pantry sells loose teas, oils, spices and kitchen goods and an Irish goods store, Erin gift shop, sells beautiful Aran Island sweaters, Muckross brand hats and purses along with other Irish inspired items. A few high tops are located along one wall in a hallway toward the back. We found one larger table in a small alcove nearby the high-tops and then there is an open area at the front that hold about twenty tables or so. A microbrewery is attached to the market too. All the vendors we spoke with were very friendly. Definitely could have walked away with so much food and loose teas and gifts. Sears is only one of four that are still in operation; however, it looks like a store that is about to shutter its doors. Dick's Sporting Goods is moving in where Nordstroms was. Lord and Taylor are still empty, as is California Pizzeria. That flummoxed me, California Pizzeria. No clue why it closed. Always packed. Reasonable prices. Not bad food either. Perhaps a victim of COVID-19? I don't remember, but I remember it was good for my daughters. Davio's was palace my bride and would go every other month. Or we'd meet my daughters there when they were home from college. Why'd they close? Always busy. No place to get a cup of coffee... even the Starbucks left. SSP has changed in many ways, and not for the better.

A small cup can easily be shared with three people because the flavor is that decadent. The candy bars are also amazing and you can tell they are made with care. I will say the medium bar has gotten a bit smaller since they first opened, but it is still delicious all the same. I was really excited to see that they now sell the pistachio cream to take home. That was a pleasant surprise and I will definitely be going back to buy a jar to keep at home. A great stop if you want something rich, unique, and worth the calories.

I will say I was little surprised and disappointed. This is not at all like City Place in Doral (Miami) where I am from. There it is open air, large, beautiful and full of fun places and great restaurants to eat at. This City Place seems more like an indoor food court with the only restaurants I saw to be blaze pizza and the paragon of great Asian food P.F Chang's (lol). Still this is where I went on some great tours. If your visiting Boston, I would definitely check out the tours Grayline/Beantown has. One great thing besides the tour company at City Place is the life size statue of Edgar Allen Poe. Obviously a small man who cast a long shadow. If your wondering why is there a statue of him in Boston? Well, he was born there. Per the tour guide, it was funded by a limited edition Edgar Allen Poe bobble head... wish I could have known I would have bought it! I love Edgar Allen Poe ever since I read this poem of his in middle school that spoke to me: From childhood's hour I have not been As others were -- I have not seen As others saw -- I could not bring My passions from a common spring -- From the same source I have not taken My sorrow -- I could not awaken My heart to joy at the same tone -- And all I lov'd -- I lov'd alone -- Then -- in my childhood -- in the dawn Of a most stormy life -- was drawn From ev'ry depth of good and ill The mystery which binds me still -- From the torrent, or the fountain -- From the red cliff of the mountain -- From the sun that 'round me roll'd In its autumn tint of gold -- From the lightning in the sky As it pass'd me flying by -- From the thunder, and the storm -- And the cloud that took the form (When the rest of Heaven was blue) Of a demon in my view -- I loved the detail of the statue... the Tell-Tale Heart... the Raven... amazing! The statue was awesome. The tour company was great. The rest...uninspiring.
