I miss the old days of Soup 'n Salad. The old mall... before they renovated it to have two full levels. The good stores are closing or moving out. Sears is only one of four that are still in operation; however, it looks like a store that is about to shutter its doors. Dick's Sporting Goods is moving in where Nordstroms was. Lord and Taylor are still empty, as is California Pizzeria. That flummoxed me, California Pizzeria. No clue why it closed. Always packed. Reasonable prices. Not bad food either. Perhaps a victim of COVID-19? I don't remember, but I remember it was good for my daughters. Davio's was palace my bride and would go every other month. Or we'd meet my daughters there when they were home from college. Why'd they close? Always busy. No place to get a cup of coffee... even the Starbucks left. SSP has changed in many ways, and not for the better. read more

Madame Chervilo in the Braintree Mall is such a sweet little treat spot. The Dubai chocolate cups are super rich and so yummy. A small cup can easily be shared with three people because the flavor is that decadent. The candy bars are also amazing and you can tell they are made with care. I will say the medium bar has gotten a bit smaller since they first opened, but it is still delicious all the same. I was really excited to see that they now sell the pistachio cream to take home. That was a pleasant surprise and I will definitely be going back to buy a jar to keep at home. A great stop if you want something rich, unique, and worth the calories. read more

Many stores to choose from and different levels of sales to fit different budgets. I love shopping and browsing at South Shore Plaza.

I was last here in 2020 and it was much livelier then. Stepping into South Shore Plaza feels like time traveling back to when Back to the Future was in theaters. Some of the signs, like the food court sign, have probably been around as long. Notably, in the year 2025, there is a Sears on life support here. The dated vibes aside, this mall is a very average Simon mall. The layout is a little odd and interestingly there are only escalators, no stairs. Not a lot of seating like the Natick Mall (which is far superior, as others have pointed out) but at least there's plenty of parking. My main reason for coming back here was to check out the Savage X Fenty store that opened last month. Unfortunately it was very underwhelming. The store was smaller than I expected and tucked away in a corner in the mall. The only employee who acknowledged me at all was the one who told me the fitting rooms were closed when I asked if I could try something on. Nordstrom, one of the anchors, is closing in March so a lot of items were on sale there. Considering this mall is not in a convenient location for me, I can't see myself returning any time soon. read more

A big mall in the design of the standard Simon malls, they have a giant Macy's and a number of other anchor stores here and it feels a little bit like the malls a 20 years ago. Long corridors flanks by stores and some new signage with the food court on the upstairs floor. They have many of the old brands, and some of the new ones like Miniso, Swarovski and Apple. Giant parking lots and some folks cleaning up windows at the entry. Also one of the escalators was down for repair. read more

South Shore Plaza (SSP) is located jn Braintree, MA. It is an all right indoor shopping mall that has a good amount of stores to shop at. This mall has a Nordstrom, Macy's, and Primark. Some stores that I am very appreciative of to have here include Uniqlo, Miniso, & Target. It is not a large mall like Natick nor houses as many stores but it definitely serves its purpose with having staple stores. One of my favorite seafood boils spots is located inside, Cap't Loui, must try if you love seafood with a kick. Once upon a time, this mall was super lively but in recent years it has become a ghost town. Fortunately though, within the last two years, they have kept this mall alive by adding some new popular stores. Hoping that this mall stays. read more

This is a really nice shopping mall in Braintree, MA...about 30 min from Providence. It has the closest Primark store to our condo, so a few days ago, I decided to drive up for a little shopping. The mall has great stores that lure customers of any price point to visit, you can go to a discount merchandiser here to a high end retailer. South Shore Plaza is owned by the Simon Property Group, which has many malls all over the country. It is near the Braintree Split interchange, off the I-93 / US 1 and Route 37 junction. The mall opened as an open-air plaza in 1961; it was enclosed in 1976 and it was expanded between 1995 and 1996. With 192 tenants and 1,586,446 sq ft of gross leasable area, the mall is the largest in New England in terms of square footage and is the 16th-largest mall in the United States. The mall's anchor stores are DSW, Macy's, Nordstrom, Sears, Primark, and Target. I loved visiting this mall since it has a great roomy layout and the stores are all really nicely spread out. A decent mall located in Braintree. They have a full sized Target, Primary, Macy's, DSW, and many of the typical stores you'd see at a Simon's mall. Plenty of parking, and inside wasn't too crowded on a Tuesday. Very clean, saw plenty of security wandering. Small food court, some entertainment like a VR arcade, and plenty of kiosks. Worth a visit if you are nearby. read more

It's an older mall. With large stores like Macy, Nordstrom etc. parking is good and plenty of restaurants. I would be careful as this mall has a lot of the same crime volume as other large malls. I don't go after dark. read more

This is my go to mall near my house, so I am a little biased. I've seen it go through many changes and additions. The mall has many stores that fit me well. It is two floors and a decent food court as well as a variety of restaurants. If your looking for more upscale shops this might not be the place for you. You can always find parking and I feel the decor and space in the mall is pretty good. read more

Having grown up right down the street from the South Shore Plaza this place had amazing memories for me. I remember being friends with security guards and going in after hours with the vehicles driving through them all. This is before the second level was put on. I was a bit sad when I went there recently after not being in the area for seven years. I can describe the South Shore Plaza as the place where stores go to die. I went on a Saturday afternoon and the place is enormous, but there must have been less than 150 people throughout the entire mall not including employees. All of the stores are empty. And I for the life of me understand how these places pay rent unless there is something shady going on. The food court still has some of its staple food places, Sarku, Dunkin Donuts, Pizzeria Regina. Other than that the place is a ghost town. They should bulldoze an input up something useful like a cemetery or a top golf. read more

We've been going to this mall forever - it's been a weekend staple activity ever since I was an awkward middle schooler shopping at Hot Topic (IT'S NOT A PHASE, MOM!) While I've grown up a bit, I still appreciate visiting the South Shore Plaza for all my emo and non emo shopping needs! They have recently renovated a large section of the mall and brought in higher-end retailers such as Nordstrom's, and changed the decor as well to reflect the "fancy" aesthetic. I appreciate the ample community seating the main arteries of the mall, where you can sit and recharge - literally and figuratively - major thanks to the phone charging stations they've installed here. There is ample parking, and stores for pretty much every price point. I noticed yesterday that they opened an edible cookie dough cafe here, and I can't wait to try it next time. They also have an outpost of perennial Boston Northern Italian favorite, Davio's, here (kind of funny since in owner Steven DiFillippo's autobiography, he vowed it would never be a restaurant for a mall!) The South Shore Plaza is open late for the holidays, so check it out for all your last minute gifting! read more

In the recent shooting at the Plaza one has to wonder if the Plaza is not doing everything possible to keep their customers and visitors in a safe environment! Three shootings in recent years including the one at Macy's Shoe area plus car damage and wondering where are security! I have been there and actually not seen one security guard walking or anywhere I looked. Maybe a suggestion from a movie filmed at The Plaza starring Kevin James that SEGWAY was used to roam the corridors! The need for MORE SECURITY IS NEEDED PLUS MORE AT EVERY RETAILER. If more gun violence continues without change the Plaza 60 year plus location will close like other failing Malls. I for one have been comfortable shopping there but the Mall Owners need to Step up and work better with Area law enforcement that risk their lives every day to keep us all safe. I love all the new store additions over the years so I always leave with what I came for (and more ). However, today I want to just leave some kind words about the positive experience I had with the K9 Officer, Abbey! After talking for a minute we realized we actually worked together (very briefly) although years ago, but we spoke about our love of animals and she just seems like such a good fit for the position of an officer (especially K9 @ that)! Her demeanor and attitude were extremely pleasant and welcoming!! I enjoyed our conversation and will now always go out of my way to say hello when I see Abbey while at the mall!! Just wanted to pass on some words of positivity today. WAY too often do we let positive experiences - matter how brief or insignificant - be forgotten in the happenings of the day. We as humans tend to we concentrate on the negative. ...Very often, at the expense of other people, by complaining about one person here. a misunderstanding with an employee somewhere - and these are not the things that I want to remember when I reflect on my time. As humans, we put each other down so much. What we really need to be doing is picking each other up and pointing out the positive we see in others & pass it on. read more

I like that this mall is only a 10 minute drive from my house. There is a free parking garage (near the Target entrance) for when it's raining. There are lots of outdoor spaces too. Everything you could need is here - clothes, food, phone service, music, even Macy's home for furniture. It's a big enough mall with 2 levels to make it worth walking around to get steps in when the weather is "New England nasty out there". It's a middle of the line mall - not fancy like Natick Collection - but has enough stores to find what you need, and multiple anchor department stores: Lord & Taylor, Nordstrom, Macy's, & Sears. read more

When the weather outside is frightful, in the South Shore Mall it's delightful! If you're on the South Shore and you need something to in the rainy/snowy/slushy New England weather, this seems to be THE place to go. This mall is clean, sleek and has a ton of trend stores. There are the go-to's like JC Penny's, Target, Lord and Taylor, and Nordstrom, but this IS home to one of only three Primark locations in the United States - great for trendy, low-cost clothes. Additionally, there's Nearby Hyatt Place, which has AMC Braintree and Dave & Buster's. We rarely go here in the summer, but if you want to escape the outside, there's a ton of stuff to do in this area. read more

I usually love coming to this mall, unfortunately that changed. It definitely seemed let go of and unkept. The food court was filled with birds flying around and an actual nest was in the ceiling. That is very unsanitary and how disease spreads. Birds are in the flood too spreading droplets and picking up food. restrooms we're disgusting and not cleaned either. Do better! read more

The South Shore Plaza had ups and downs. Originally, it was a mall for all people, however after the recession and the economic meltdown hit, they shifted to cater to wealthy patrons. Most stores are high end, incredibly expensive, and brand name intensive. However, since much merchandise is expensive the bulk of most people whom shop their will specifically shop the discount racks ONLY. Most patrons do not impulse buy at all and if they are purchasing high priced items, they have already made the decision to do so long before they've arrived. Other than that, the mall is mostly a place for people to walk around and are more likely to spend money on food or beverage items than anything else, unless it's a highly promoted brand name item which has a major cult following such as high end cosmetics, purses, perfumes, and seasonal or limited edition items. The rent for merchants here is incredibly over priced and specifically intended to push out small businesses, which often fold and collapse despite their hardest efforts. Also, the pushcart businesses continually get shrunken and price driven up higher and higher, which makes it too difficult for a small business to flourish. The mall was once full of them even in 2002, but went overboard in their pricing strategy. Management also will treat potential business merchants differently specifically based on their ethnicity and skin color. In fact, among all local small business owners in Greater Boston this is a well known factor since the 90s. There is also an issue with mice in the building, so if you are purchasing even high end items, it's recommended to sanitize them. The restrooms are the absolute most filthiest in the entire South Shore Greater Boston Area and on any given day can be found with urine all over the lady's room toilets. Although it's a hot spot for food and eating, and looks clean on the outside, the reality is actually very different. I personally no longer eat at the South Shore Plaza having worked in multiple stores over the years, and even ran my own businesses there. Just because something is expensive or high end or a well known brand doesn't mean quality. Also, when robberies or shoplifting happens the police are not very helpful. Do not park expensive cars in the parking lots because car jackers are incredibly quick at accessing ur vehicle and you will never see it ever again. I've personally seen this sort of thing happen many times over the years, including persons I personally knew. Watch out where you park, because people whom drive Mercedes Vehicles seem to be blind and can't park well at all. The closer you park to the building, the higher your chances of getting scratches, gashes, and dents in your car. read more

My family members call me a "Mall Rat" since I knew this place inside/out. I have so many memories of applying and working here for my first job(s). I'm lucky enough to live in the same town as the South Shore Plaza. Unfortunately for my paycheck though I find it hard to resist all of the stores beckoning me. It has the basic departments: Macy's, Sears, Lord & Taylor, Target, Nordstrom, an expanding higher end section, food court, restaurants and a variety other stores. It's a great one stop shop! I actually find the SSP less pretentious than the Natick Mall. Depending on when you go though it can get quite congested with loitering tweens and customers trying to fulfill their retail therapy. I prefer going at off hours, but really I could spend all day here! read more

Tired. This mall makes you absolutely tired. Caters to the middle class. Similar to Cambridgeside Galleria but larger, nothing like the Chestnut Hill Mall which is loaded with luxury brands. This mall has all of the stores that you most likely want to shop at, but the mall is always packed and many of the stores are a mess because of the number of people riffling through the shelves. Too. Many. Shops. I've never been to a mall that had a Target connected to it; so I guess there's a first for everything. I came here on Black Friday and South Shore was actually large enough that the crowds didn't feel too overwhelming. There's a pretty wide variety of shops that can range from affordable to excessive; Lord & Taylor, J. Crew, Macy's, Sephora, and a ton of other smaller retail stores. Simon Malls are typically very well-stocked and full of brands. The mall was actually so large that I didn't even make my way through the entire thing. Everything is also well-maintained, clean, and bright -- except for the skylights, look up and you'll find seagull butts and bird poop. That's not a nice sight, but keep your eyes on the ground and you'll be ok. The parking lots and garages were a huge bonus! All in all, I'd love to check out this mall again sometime. read more

This mall should be good. Some good stores, good location, but management has let things fall apart hear after year. Not a single staircase in the mall and almost every set of escalators has one direction broken at all times. As I'm writing this two elevators were out. How can people get around here never mind in an emergency? Stores follow whatever hours they want with no penalty. A handful of great stores here but they can't fully outshine the neglect of the landlords. Internet sales are not killing your business, you are. read more

This mall has changed A LOT over the years. To me, it's lost its allure a little. And I am NOT saying this because I work here. Its just the general feel of the place that's been downgraded a little. Little by little, stores are disappearing, and then random ones reappear that no one really cares for. I think the majority of patrons go to the big department stores (Macy's, Lord and Taylor, Sears, Target and Nordstrom's). All in all, I don't mind the place when I need to buy something. South Shore Plaza. . . I can no longer come here without thinking of scenes from Paul Blart: Mall Cop, parts of which were filmed here, at this location. I feel compelled to barrel roll to various mall directory signs and tiptoe around corners. Best part is. . . the real mall cops here drive around segways, just as in the movie! In other news, this mall is pretty standard in what stores it has to offer. Nothing out of the ordinary that I would come here for other than it happens to be in the general vicinity when I need some time to kill or I'm looking for a last minute gift idea. There are a few higher end stores to brag about, but considering I don't normally purchase things there, it doesn't make much of a difference to me! The food court and restaurants available make this a desirable location on busy nights. Cheesecake Factory, 99 Restaurant & Pub, Joe's American Bar & Grille, Uno's, Johnny Rockets, and Planet Smoothie to name a few. Right off the highway too, making this a great location to stop after nightly events and the like. Great time killer, rainy day, "what do you wanna do" kind of solution place. I dig all the stores. Whenever I visit I take a trip to H&M! I also enjoy taking my son to the Disney Store. However, I am an coffeaholic and it ticks me off that they do not have a Starbucks, I have heard a rumor that there's a Target Starbucks, but I have never traveled that far into Target to find one. I strongly recommend getting coffee from The Nordstrom Cafe, the DD in the food court sucks. Another, new option for me is ordering a mate' at Teavanna. Super Yummy! I'm also over all the restaurants at the plaza. I wish there was another option. Cheesecake Factory is good... I am not too hip on the California Pizza Kitchen or Legal Seafood. I can't eat at Cheesecake Factory every time I go! I did see they have a Quiznos in the food court (haven't eaten there for awhile) but, I am not really the food court type of girl. I like that there are a lot of elevators, might sound a little funny but if you're pushing around a stroller, you'll get me. My son gets cranky, fast, so I need to be able to get around the mall. There's a NARS counter at Lord & Taylor. I love love the nail polishes there, but the service is to be desired. If you want good cosmetic service I say Nordstroms all the way baby. I've been going to this mall for years now, it's still got that charm it had since the early 2000s. This place has a good selection of stores such as Target, Apple Store & a very large macy's. The food court also has Popeyes, Johnny Rockets and other cool options. Overall this is a fun place to go to, the only downside of the mall is that there a lot of loud ratchet kids running around, but that's to be expected. read more

This place is a huge clusterf*k. I hate coming here. I much prefer Burlington Mall. People are NOT considerate of each other in this mall. They walk slowly, as if nobody else is behind them, or they walk in a 10 person chain (slightly exaggerated), blocking people from being able to walk around them. There are so many loud, obnoxious teenagers. Parking is also a nightmare, but well, like I said, this place is a clusterf*k! The Target here is one of the ONLY good things about this place. It's definitely a nicer Target than the ones in Watertown and Somerville. I guess the food court is decent. No matter how crowded it is, you can still manage to find somewhere to sit. One last good thing about this place: Auntie Annie's. It's on the bottom level. The stores AT SSP are stores you can find ANYWHERE ELSE, so it's not like this is the end-all-be-all place. Myself and a group of friends decided to go to California Pizza Kitchen. We placed an order comprised of 4 pizzas. I have seen livelier service in a graveyard. After taking our order, it took the kitchen/our waitress over an hour to bring us our food at which time the food was freezing cold. The manager offered to reheat our pizzas but by that time we had eaten them all because it took the staff over an hour to serve us any sort of food. The bread that they gave us as an appetizer looked like pieces of Ritz crackers it was so small. For $20, I can make a cold Hawaiian pizza with a crappy bread appetizer. After taking 10% off of our check for the inconvenience our waitress said I hope you'll be back, in which case I will most certainly not be back. read more

Great mall, nothing much to complain about except that it's not that sanitary. Usually see staff with masks below their nose and not wearing gloves or keeping a six feet distance. Place is mostly crowded on weekends, so try going on weekdays. Most stores have reasonable prices, but you could find better deals online. read more

I don't know who the people are who write essays about how lousy this mall is because it doesn't offer concierge batting away stand-vendors and that !horror! there are kids in the mall being annoying but they strongly need to devote themselves to other things in life, like God, or picking gum off the underside of school desks. I like this mall because there are a number of stores that have different offerings. You can find something for most of the family. I really like the alt-stores, like the Brain Games store and the newly opened ThinkGeek place. Love that website, appreciate it as a store. There's a vast variety of stores to shop at. If there were a book store, it would be perfect. Old Navy moved in, so now I don't have to head to Hingham to return something. Some of the parking patterns by the Sears are precarious, and I'm a little blah about their food court selections. The escalators by the Target seem to be broken far more often than they should be. read more
