I'm very happy that DSW has taken over the space Filene's Basement previously occupied in South Shore Plaza. I love the selection of DSW but didn't like that I'd have to drive to the North Shore or take the T into Boston to visit them for shoe shopping. This store is one floor, but still houses a lot of shoes for both men & women. The prices are reasonable and there are often sales for DSW rewards members. (It's free to join the rewards program and I recommend doing son.) There is a clearance section in the back of the store divided by sizes, so sometimes you can find a gem there. The one problem with this location is there is no cell reception or internet service, so your cell phone battery can drain searching for a signal while you browse. They also ran an offer on Facebook to promote their store opening ($5 off) but you could not pull the offer up on your phone in the store due to the cell phone dead zone. However, the sales associate who checked me out took the $5 off with no problems, completely understanding why I couldn't pull up the offer on my phone. So, make sure you print coupons that aren't stored on your rewards card before heading to the store. I'm looking forward to lots of future shopping trips here. read more

This newest addition to the South Shore Plaza occupies the old Filene's Basement location. This store is pretty big. Aisles upon aisles of shoes for Women & Men They also have a Clearance section already in place Super excited to do all my one stop shopping in one location! Plenty of associates on the floor to help with any needs! read more

DSW in Braintree is rather new and renovated, yet still one of the worst in the area. I find DSW to be a hit or mess, and personally, Famous Footwear is a place that I have seemed to prefer the inventory of over the last few years. With that said, for other shoes, I have found DSW to be a good spot... sometimes. This location is at the South Shore Plaza in the former Filene's Basement space. I come to this mall less and less and I continually know why whenever coming here, as this mall is just in desperate need of revitalization on the exterior in many spots, including the exterior of DSW and interior. The store itself is updated, but the entryway and the large, annoying flight of stairs always seems dirty and trashed (and why is it that only on this side of the mall is the trash all over the sidewalk and parking garage area.... it's really disgusting). Anyway, the selection in general is really generalized. Every shoe is either catered to a lower shoe size or a higher shoe size which never seems explainable. They don't seem to order certain sizes for certain shoes which is bothersome, and the clearance for men's is consistently lacking. I do get annoyed that the women's section is about 90% of the clearance, so it seems. The DSW in Dedham (and even the one in Stoughton) is considerably better and where I typically able to find what I need. With that said, Famous Footwear is sometimes a better option. Depends on what you are looking for, but don't come here expecting the best of the best, because I can assure you that this is not the best location around. 2 stars. read more

Went to the DSW in Braintree at the South Shore Plaza, worst customer experience. Went to return a pair of shoes after soaking to an online representative. Apparently according to the associate Kate they changed their return policy 2 wills ago. She was rude, refused to give the store managers name, store phone number and when I asked a different associate the managers name she told her no. Don't talk to me. She told me if I call the store she will just answer. Put in a complaint, not sure how far it will go. But wont be shopping at DSW online or in store anymore. Id there were negative stars they would have it. read more

I just had a rather unpleasant experience returning an item I bought online. This took place on Tuesday, 2/28, a little past 6:00 pm. I had bought a purse and a pair of shoes online. The purse cost $20 and the shoes cost $50. I had used a $20 rewards certificate to pay. When Carolina looked at my receipt, she informed me that since I used a certificate, I would not receive the full $20 back for the purse, since a portion of the certificate got allocated to the purse. I indicated that since I used a certificate and not a coupon, I should be able to get the full $20 for the purse back. She told me that I was not able to, since that is something that the system does. I tried to explain to Carolina that had I only bought the shoes, the full $20 of the certificate would have applied to the shoes, and my return should not be pro-rated. I don't think she quite understood, as she kept insisting that I bought two items. I agreed that yes, I did buy two items. Finally, she said that she could apply the portion of the certificate allocated to the purse ($5.71) to the shoes. I said, "Yes, please do that. So I will get the $14 something back and the $5.71 will show up on my account as a certificate?" Carolina said, "You wouldn't get anything back." I said, "That doesn't make sense. Then I would be paying $70 for the shoes." She gets frustrated with me and takes out a pad of Post-Its. She writes on the Post-It "14.29 + 5.71 = 20". The entire time she's writing this, she will not let me speak, as she is repeating her flawed logic that I would not get any money back, because she's applying the full amount of $20 to my shoes (note the inconsistency from above, where she says she'll apply the $5.71 to the shoes). I ask, "OK, so if you apply the entire certificate to my shoes, then is it going to show up in my account as a credit?" Carolina said, "What don't you understand? No, it's not going to show up as a credit, because it's applied to your shoes." Thankfully, Kathleen was at the next register. Kathleen tells Carolina to ring up her (Kathleen's) customer while she (Kathleen) handles my return. Kathleen asks, "What's the issue?" Carolina said, "I'm trying to explain to get that she can't get the full amount of the purse back because she used a certificate. Then I told her, as a courtesy, we can apply the full amount of the certificate to her shoes, but she won't get any money back, but she CLEARLY doesn't get it." Kathleen looks at the screen and tells me that I am correct, I will be getting the $20 back. Kathleen processed my return and I got $20 back on my credit card. read more

This is located on the lower level of the South Shore Plaza. On the wing near Nordstrom and Target. The selection, as all of their stores are, is huge. Staff is very friendly, and its clean in there. My only complaint is that it is dark and you feel like you are in a basement, not a shoe store. But, they have great deals and a good clearance section as well. read more

I've used this outlet store for years. One must look hard to find good deals here, but they do have good deals when you find it. What else I like about here is if you can't find your size they can check their warehouse and ship it to your house at no cost. There was many sales people walking around willing to help. The store was clean, ended up getting pair of booths for next winter. I left a horrible mess from all the booths I had tried on, but the sales associate assured me that's okay and it gives her something to do. Now that's very nice. read more

Terrible customer service, the workers at the registers did not even care that the line was close to the entrance. They were more interested in socializing then getting their customers in and out. Everyone in line were pretty frustrated with the wait and just looking at each other in disbelief. I came into return a pair of shoes that I bought 2 nights ago because the store was closing and I didn't have time to try it on. I tried it on in my house and didn't realize I got some dust at the base. The lady that was working on my return asked me what was my return reason. I told her it didn't fit right and she told me that I've worn it outside and that they could not give me a return. In disbelief I told them that I just purchased this 2 nights ago and explained that the dust was from my house from trying it on. They kept saying I wore it outside, I just couldn't believe it. She tossed me a store credit card and I told them I would not come to this store again and kept the shoes. Does DSW not care about their customers? read more
