(4806) Sears was the best at one time. Buying appliances at Sears was my family tradition. Kenmore lasted years! The last item I let go was my vacuum. It just wouldn't die. It was hard to get replacement bags and too cumbersome to drag around my apartment. Sears provided great warranty service for a price though. My parents were sucked in. Pretty soon the annual insurance premium was more than just replacing the appliance. What happened to them I just don't understand. Poor management or what? It was very sad watching their demise. It's unbelievable that walking in Sears all through each Department I could not find one Employee at all! No one was able to guide me to what I was looking for or even seeing any employee on the sales floor ! I walked around a few times and the place was deserted yet very well organized! I finally notice a sign that the cashier was in the Ladies Dept so I walked toward that area, didn't see anyone standing but when I got closer there was an older Asian person on his phone sitting low, that I didn't notice I stood there for approximately a full minute before he noticed m, I asked my question, and I left! I'm now 72 years old. I grew up in a family that used Sears much like we use Amazon today minus the online ordering. Like in Marianne W's, case my family bought practically everything from them. We are talking about appliances, bicycles for my brother and I and a lot of clothes for our entire family. Remember those Christmas catalogs; my brother and I spent practically everyday months before Christmas scrutinizing our wish list. Sears was like a trustworthy friend to our family. I sure miss them! Needed a new 1/4 inch socket wrench that was cheap and not from harbor freight looked online and sears had the lowest prices on a craftsman set. I ended up going to this one at the south shore plaza and got exactly what I needed for under $20. Decent selection could probably stock up a little more but was okay for with what they had employees were very friendly prices were good overall good experience and got what I needed. read more

I've been in this store quite a number of times and it's a pretty decent location. Last year they did eliminate the top floor to allow for a Primark location in the mall but even though they are minus a floor they still have plenty of space and lots of merchandise on display. I shop here mainly for the shoes and the women's clothing. They carry a very good variety and it's easy to find everything. There is also a nice jewelry department here and they even carry a few bath and body items. Around the holidays they always carry some really cute gift sets. Downstairs on the basement floor you'll find their appliances and that is where the restrooms are located as well. There are never many registers open so don't expect to be able to pay very quickly. It is a nice store though and it is well worth it to shop this location. They run a lot of specials and you can get some great deals. read more

Early yesterday morning I put some laundry in the washing machine, it filled up with water and then.....nothing. Uh oh. Hub called to the scene and assessment was made that the washer had finally died. I wasn't particularly sad as we have had this washer and dryer combo for a looong time. It came with us from our Beacon Hill condo where we lived many moons ago prior to buying this house. Shopping isn't what I had planned for this gorgeous Sunday but I have been wanting a new washer and dryer for some time and I've been waiting for one or the other of them to finally bite the dust. I'm a laundry nerd; I actually enjoy doing laundry so the hunt for new appliances had a certain appeal. Thankfully, I have one of those husbands who loves to research things, has had a subscription to Consumer Reports for as long as I've known him and is incredibly mechanically and engineeringly inclined...so, in anticipation of this washer's demise, he had already done some homework. Last night he was up late checking to see which stores would have the best price on what we were looking for and it was Sears. Anyone who knows me, knows how much I HATE malls, however off to the Braintree mall and the Sears therein we went. I would have given this review 5 stars but sadly the moment we looked interested in the machines, we were approached by Ernie. He was an amiable enough chap but within a minute hub and I both realized he had no idea what he was talking about. When we know more about the washers and dryers than the salesperson, that's not a good sign. Hub was well prepared but Ernie was clueless. We are not people who ever want to hurt anyone's feelings and always go out of our way to be kind. Hub was willing to stick it out but being the more hot-headed gal that I am and knowing we were about to spend $2,000 plus, I went off in search of reinforcement while my husband chatted with Ernie. What I found out was that poor Ernie had just been moved over from vacuums where he had reigned supreme for years. I was told this Sears at least, no longer has a policy whereby new employees shadow older employees to "learn the ropes". This means poor Ernie was thrown into a new appliance situation for which he was meant to be an understudy but was suddenly expected to be the star. We were rescued by Nancy who has been in washers and dryers for 25 years, if you can imagine that. We think it all went down with the least amount of embarrassment for Ernie although sadly these folks are on commission so he did lose out on that account. We ended up getting a Samsung energy efficient washer and dryer that includes such spectacular options as steam cleaning and refreshing, a "hand" washing option and all kinds of other cool features. It uses considerably less than half the amount of water that our old washer did. And according to Nancy, using High Efficiency detergent ( I have to now look for that label on the detergent I buy) means that we will use approximately 2 tablespoons per load. The set gets delivered on Tuesday and laundry times will be even better than ever for me. Meanwhile, I wish Ernie the best...I know he'll learn the differences amongst the Bosch, the Samsung, the LG and all the rest in due time. I visited in December 2022. I hadn't been to a Sears since the one in my area in New York closed ten years ago. It was a nostalgic experience to be back there. I was in the market for a new refrigerator and they had a great selection. The associate who worked with us, as well as the cashier, were both absolutely helpful, and the friendliest people you'd ever want to meet. I always had the same experience at the Sears I used to go to, and it was amazing to see that still happening! We got a good deal on the refrigerator we chose, they helped us load it into the minivan, and we've not had a problem with it yet! We're proud to be probably one of very few in New York to own a new Sears appliance! The store was clean, everything was well organized, and we will definitely try to make it back soon! read more

Wrong mattress sent to us. It took us exactly 10 days of calling every alternate day and explaining the issue with every person we spoke to to get the refund. Never again will I think of Sears for shopping anything. Worst customer service and when the phone customer service people cannot answer a question they just hang up. The wait time to get to talk to someone is normally 20 mins and imagine the frustration of getting hung up on after the lng wait and explaining the issue to someone. I spoke to Devin, Asad, Jodson, Aileen and some other people, and they all did not have a clue on what needed to be done. The absolute worst service that I have ever encountered. Sears at one time was an excellent department store to shop in. I have today read the reviews for the first time. I whole heartedly agree with some of them. I have a washing machine sitting on my porch that was delivered via of Sears, six days ago. The old washer is still in my house, broken, For the past week I have spoken to Sears Customer Service in China, Japan, the Philippines, and other countries., without resolution. We ordered a dishwasher on dec15 and it was delayed twice pushing us to a delivery date of January 9. Well the store says they don't have it and customer service says that it was delivered. Yay the best thing about this location is Primark will be opening on the top floor this summer. Sears does have good sales, however the store is messy. The worst repair service I have ever encountered my entire life. We have been a customer 25 years Had to wait 2 weeks even thou I have the sears home warranty which says same day or next day. Refreg( kenmore Sears product) went on Labor day. I called next day took me 45 mins. to get a hold of someone do to there routing and automated service and it was a company over seas who read from a script. No other company can fix it if it is under Sears warranty thus no choice but to go thru sears, I was told to call or go on line to get an earlier appt. I did and could not. I called everyday and re routed to voice.etc.etc. There was no number for sears direct nor email to complain. There are no Humans to complain about. We are without a refreg for almost two weeks. I kno it is the compressor and asked if they have one in stock or perhaps start the ordering process. They said they cant , ok understand. One last thing. Did you know if you do not use your sears card for a certain period of time they will cancel it. Theres more. Our home warranty was paid thru sears card and it was canceled this past January with out notice. This not only cancel the card but the warranty. We asked to be reinstated they said they would. When I called for this service they said we have no warranty. So I had to redo the warranty. Now i am told there is a charge for the service because any "New Warranty" has to wait 30 days before it goes in effect. I called again, this time it was 1 1/2 hour on phone trying to talk to someone. They said it was not re instated but renewed. I said they told me re instated. We went back and forth so now we have to pay.. Our house has many sears products but we will NEVER buy another sears product ever again I tried corporate office and it re routes you to the service number. I really needed a new stove! I picked out a new stove! A really expensive one! How expensive you ask? How does 1799.99 sound? After reading all about it (because there was no one in sight to help me). Open the oven door..close the oven door..Hmm...what does convection oven really mean? OH..I'll just read about it right here..BECAUSE..THERE THE SALES PEOPLE ARE TOO BUSY FOOLING AROUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I picked out a wonderful stove!! BUT, .is that crickets I hear. Yup! I see the sales people..Yes..there they are all three of them. Fooling around in front of the refrigerators. While I am there for a half an hour! YES! I SAID.. A HALF AN HOUR!! HELPING MY SELF! Not one out of three sales people came to help me. NOR did they help the wonderful couple who wanted a new stove next to me. They also took their business else where. I did however, hear a lot of giggling and cackling going on from three sales people didn't feel any need to come help me one bit. SO..I wrote down what I needed and took my self on over to a different appliance store in Braintree and got the same exact stove for $500.00 cheaper AND..I got help the minute I walked through the door. I waited all day for these folks to come service my Whirlpool dryer. No one ever called or showed up. No more Sears appliances, EVER!!! I called the Sears Repair Service and all I got was NOTHING all day long. And worse, there is no way to find the exact store that sent this repair job to nowhere. What's more, they pitched me from clerk to clerk, promising me that I would get a refund on my service warranty. I brought a lawnmower in for repair, no one called me to tell me whats going on. I called them after a week and that's when the frenzy of speaking to people who really do not care started. How can they care when they are a world away!??! They couldn't locate my record, failed at providing me with info and when i got frustrated after speaking to over 4 people, they started playing games with me! Sears is a nightmare. Had a warranty on our oven range and ordered a replacement last June. There have been perpetual delivery delays since then. I eventually had to look up myself and turns out the replacement range was discontinued yet Sears never was able to figure that out. I just moved to a new residence and my roommate and I needed a fridge and a bed. On May 29th we purchased the mattress and scheduled delivery for June 1st. On May 31st at 7:30 pm I received a text saying it would be delivered on the 1st with a time frame set for early afternoon. Twelve hours later at 7:30 am the day it was supposed to be delivered I got another text saying that it wouldn't be delivered until June 8th. When called about this Sears had no answers or reasons why, just poor excuses and finger pointing, sales blaming delivery, delivery blaming sales. Now onto the fridge. It was actually delivered in the day and within the time frame given, but the delivery guy in charge took measurements, and said the fridge wasn't going to fit and I'd have to return it and get a new one, then waved his hand at me like he was shooing a fly away as he briskly walked away. While I argued with him that he had to at least try to do his job, he was adamant that it wouldn't fit and put the fridge back on the truck without even trying. I should point out that the truck was empty save for the fridge, so it was clearly evident that he and his co worker just wanted to get off the clock early after a long day. The delivery guy kept saying that he worked in this business for 10 years, which is funny to me because you'd think in 10 years you'd learn some basic customer service. Now I have gone through the process of having both items, which were paid by a credit card, returned. I spoke with numerous managers, one of which said he personally handled the mattress return, but couldn't return the fridge because that was made online. The return with the fridge was eventually handled and I have gotten the money for it, but have found out that the return for the mattress is being sent to my house as a bank check rather than being credited back onto my card. I originally went to Sears for these items because growing up as a child Sears was a stand up business, an institution in the field of department stores, but these events have awoken me as to why this company is going out of business. I understand that Amazon is a powerhouse that is hard to compete with, but when you have customers making an effort to come to you then you should put back forth the same amount of effort to see that they're satisfied tenfold. Also, these purchases were made during the Memorial Day Weekend sale, and I've since bought the identical fridge from Home Depot NOT on sale and it was $10 cheaper, and it most certainly fits through the doors of my home. Home Depot delivery guys got it in and hooked up in under 10 minutes. Sears is a horrible business with zero customer service skills and I will be happy to see their doors close forever. read more

Im giving Sears a bad review purely because of the bad service I had with Northeast Electrical Service. I had one of the worst experiences with this company, which appears to be a common theme reading the previous reviews for Northeast Electrical Service. This is a 3rd party Sears uses to deliver and install dishwashers. We went to Sears on Jan 31 to purchase a dishwasher. The salesman let us know that a third party would be calling to set up time for delivery. Northeast Electrical Services, called on Jan 1 to set up time for delivery. I returned their call same day and left a message for them to return my call. I continued to call and leave messages on Jan 3, 4, 5 - without anyone answering the phone. Finally on Jan 9 they returned my call. We set the delivery and install up for Jan 19. The lady who I spoke to let me know they'd call the day before (jan 18) to confirm delivery and give me a time window. On Jan 18 they exactly that, called an confirmed delivery and install was a go and they'd be there between 10-2 the next day. So, I went ahead and made arrangements for my daughter to be picked up at school, since I wouldn't be able to leave if the delivery people were here. I also cleaned out from under the sink and removed everything from the surrounding counter, per their request. At 9:45am on Jan 19 I got a call telling me the delivery and install wouldn't be happening because the dishwasher wasn't available yet. I was livid! 15 minutes before the scheduled delivery window they call me telling me this. I missed the call, so of course when I immediately called them back I was only able to leave a voicemail and never heard back from them. It seems impossible that they didn't know the day before when they called to confirm the delivery that the dishwasher wasn't available. I mean don't they organize their delivery route the day before for the next day??? It took several days and even more phone calls to Sears but I was finally able to cancel the dishwasher and get a full refund. I would like to point out that Sears had in their system that the dishwasher had already been delivered. I will never use Northeast Electrical Services and will never recommend them. If Sears knows what's good for them they will stop doing business with this company. All they have to do is look at the yelp reviews for this company and they will see how the Sears name is being tarnished by working with Northeast Electrical Services. read more

The appliance sales person was anxious trying to sell a large appliance to someone else. We did not want to bug her. We were getting "i'm fucking busy" vibes from her. When her sale seemed to have failed we asked her for help with our lowly questions. She got the answer for us quickly. But it just seemed that anyone working there even if in another dept. could have helped us more. It's only a sales job. We got a larger model. A different sales person got the final sale. From my initial contact by phone, to final resolution, it was an experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone. 1. Phone sales lied about delivery date, which resulted in additional charges from my installer. 2. After telling them that delivery is not allowed in our building after 330pm without incurring a fine, they delivered at 4pm. Their own "window" of 1:15 to 3:15 was not even met. 3. I spent more than 3 hours on the phone in several calls to the Phillippines, and who knows where else, speaking to people whom I couldn't understand, to try to resolve the delivery process and issues. 4. Agreed to reimburse only a small part of the additional $250. expense that I incurred because of their mistakes. Sears used to be the nearly perfect retailer. Just had the worst experience ever! I found everything I needed, but couldn't carry it all. I couldn't find a cart anywhere and no one was willing to help me find one. I finally found a cement crusted cart, but found it insane to use such a disgusting cart to finish my shopping. I finally come across 10 sears workers by the elevator and express my concerns. They take my cement crusted cart from me and tell me maybe I'll have luck on the next level from which I just came from. Bought my first products at Sears in 1968. I have been satisfied ever since. A few glitches through the years, but not much. At times I even bought Craftsman tools of slightly less quality because of the lifetime guarantee. Today was my last day. I brought some sockets and a line cutter the I use on my lobster boat-both are worn and rusty. I replace the line cutter every year. I spray it every day with wd-40 but it is cheap steel and rusts anyway. It has never been a problem under the guarantee. Today a young clerk named Brian refused the replacement. Said the tool was rusty and that constituted abuse. When I questioned him, he gave me an 800 number and said that was my only recourse. I called the 800 number and was told they only handled things like major appliances and that I should talk to the store manager to solve this. I asked Brian to see the store manager and he said that was him and he wouldn't do anything. I do not believe he is the manager of the Braintree, Mass store, so I left rather than cause a scene. I AM NOT SATISFIED. We are talking $40 worth of tools as opposed to a 40+ year relationship. read more

Customer service is AWFUL. I bought a $1,000 clothes washer for $600. But then had to fork over $400 for a 5 yr warranty. 1) Saleswoman knew I had a $100 off coupon (from a Sears repairman visit) but was so quick to ring up the sale on her register she never asked me for it. I had to go back later to sort it out. 2) saleswoman told me how great the Sears maintenance/repair guys were and also said they were Sears employees when I asked. I have had those guys out twice. First, the installers, were contractors and they were rushing so fast they didnt even run a full cycle. Pushed buttons, "Look it works. ". These JOKERS actually attached the hot/cold hoses BACKWARDS!!!!! Second guy out was from A & E, which he said was Sears' company. Huh??? 3) this store knowingly sells washers with too short drain hoses. I then had to call Sears Parts myself to pay $70 for a drain hose only a foot or so longer than the attached one. Sears Parts is so incompetent they actually then sent me the wrong hose (for the wrong washer). If I need major appliances again I will go somewhere else. #SearsBraintree by far has the worst customer service. As I'm writing this, I've been on hold for the past 20mins. The past 5 weeks were horrendous, atrocious, and unacceptable in terms of customer service. I spoke with the manager Chris and he still hasn't completed my service. I'm on the verge of canceling all my orders from them. I can't believe they outsource everything. And they refused to connect me with corporate. I purchased a gas stove at Sears in Braintree and ran into problems when I went to get it installed by my plumber. My plumber said there was not enough clearance between the stove top and the cabinet and without enough clearance it would not pass inspection. I returned to Sears and explained my problem and Sears was willing to take back the gas stove and replace it with an electric stove which did not have the same installation problems. Everyone I dealt with in the appliance department was polite and attentive and more than fair. I was very satisfied with their handling of my problem. read more
