O2 is an ideal group setting restaurant for there are tables made for just that, but I wouldn't commend it for the food. Unlike most Korean bbq places, O2 does not regularly clean your table's grill and as the night and amount of meat being grilled progresses, it starts to get overwhelmingly filled with grease and fat. Your meat begins to burn and sticks to the grill, making it no longer pleasing the the eye, ultimately making the table lose their appetite. I wouldn't say the meat is high quality, nor does it match up to the price you pay for the buffet experience. BAD AND DISHONEST BUSINESS PRACTICE. THEY ARE OUT TO CHEAT YOU IF YOU ARE NOT AWARE My son went to O2 with a few friends, a party of 4 but a youthful group. When they received the check a 20% gratuity was added on the check. All the other receipts posted by others on yelp do not show this charge. It also does not specify on their menu that there was such a charge, even for larger groups. AND this is not a Jean George or Nobu, they should not be charging any automatic tip of 20%, or in this case even more. Firstly, if they even specified that they would charge the gratuity, it should not be 20% on the total, including taxes. Tip is correctly calculated on only what is ordered and should exclude the tax, as no service was provided for the tax. Secondly, this establishment has discriminated against a group of young people, as I could only concluded that they felt it was alright to assume that 'these kids' will not pay any gratuity, so then it would be acceptable to CHEAT them of additional money by adding on a gratuity charge that is too high. After having a wonderful first impression over at their Guttenberg, NJ location, my party and I came here to their Bayside location with high expectations for lunch. There were 2 lunch menus to choose from (A & B.) There were more meat options on B, along with all the side orders from A for just $4 more, so we went with B. While we were waiting for the cast iron to heat up, we were feasting on the pickled vegetables provided table-side. We also had orders of their beef soup, spicy fried rice cake and rice as appetizers. The beef from the beef soup was extremely tender and delicious. I wish they offered a spicy option for the soup though. I wasn't a big fan of the spicy fried rice cake because they were a bit on the dry side. I prefer the non-fried version, but unfortunately, that isn't offered here. My party and I pretty much ordered every meat option there was except for the innards (maybe next time.) Their spicy beef bulgogi stood out to me the most as it was the most flavorful and wonderfully marinated. I especially liked the slightly sweetened aftertaste. The spicy chicken, pork steak, spicy pork rib and pork belly were also decadent. I'd recommend leaving the pork belly on the cast iron a little longer than the other meats to get a nice charred aftertaste and so that the meat can melt in your mouth. Overall, I had a great first impression at this location. My party and I left happy and well-fed customers. The staff were accommodating and extremely helpful in cooking, cutting and flipping the meat for us. One complaint that I did have was for the bathroom. Our first visit to O2 K-BBQ and we loved It!! After showing our vaccination status cards and photo identification, we were promptly escorted to our table. We explained that this was our first visit, and the hostess generously provided a few suggestions. The waiter was equally helpful with selections, and was most attentive to our every dining need - even assisting us with cutting the meet with shears. We chose kalbi marinated steak, beef bulgogi, spicy pork bulgogi, pork jowl, spicy pork belly, and marinated chicken - all were delicious - and we had multiple portions of each. Multiple TV's delighted us with music videos of K-pop stars - fulfilling our immersion into Korean culture. Every table was filled, and for a Monday night a good sign that we made the right choice. Wanted to try something new. We walked in at 4:45pm on a holiday. It was busy not packed. From where we were standing in the foyer it seemed like a lot of confusion and the waiters were running around like chickens with their heads cut off! It took about 15 minutes for someone to acknowledge and seat us. 2 parties are seated at each table with a divider in between. There was water already on the table but the waiter didn't ask if we wanted anything else. We noticed there were also a bunch of bowls and sauces already on the table but clueless what they were. He didn't ask if we had been here nor attempted to explain the process until I asked. I only knew a little because I had read some reviews. I told him we only had 1 hour and asked if that was enough. He said yes. You start off with 4 meats. From the reviews I knew to pick the beef thin brisket as one option because it cooks quickly (also ordered beef bulgogi, spicy chicken and pork skin). It took a long time to get our meat. They're supposed to cook your food. Which entails putting the meats on and checking on it. I think each waiter was cooking for too many tables so we found ourselves waiting to get our next meat and when we did it was a different waiter each time. I looked around and saw people cooking their own food with a small tong. So at some point we got the hint and started to do the same with our chop sticks lol. Back to the tongs used to cook. I saw no indication that they use different ones for each meat so if you don't eat pork you may want to ask. Oh and don't wear anything nice or light in color. The grease was getting all over the table, including my shirt and popped on us a couple times. This was happening before they put the pork skin on but when they did that made it worse as you can imagine. You may want to skip that meat. Despite how long it was cooking it never got crispy. My favorite meat was the beef bulgogi. It was so flavorful nothing else needed. All the others I mentioned we got were ok but the one sauce made it all better! Don't know what is was but it's in a big bowl(see pic). You usually have 2 hours to eat which I think is reasonable and necessary but like I said we only had an hour and we were stuffed. They brought us a 5th meat by accident (spicy pork bulgogi) and we struggled to finish it and you cannot take leftovers. Definitely come hungry but not hangry because if service is always like it was you'll be perturbed. I'm hoping this was just an off day for them. Debating if I should just come back first or go to a similar place and see how it's done. And I'm only writing because this seem to be the last time our group (6 or more) will go back. A last impression review if you will Let's start with the good - Staff are friendly. Fairly good cuts and standard variety of choices. Cheaper than most other ayce kbbq. Easy to find street parking. Close to the highway. There's probably other minor positives I overlooked but these are the major ones. Now the negs - Over time there were a lot of staff changes. Not all are familiar with procedures so they had to ask some questions here and there (the hostess). Weird choice on cooked food like the rice cakes. Try it. They're unlimited anyways. Short 90 min meal time. Service ALWAYS slow making that meal time feel even shorter. Understaffed? Squid was on the menu but never available(think it's crossed out now). No reservation on weekends and holidays. Long wait times from half to an hour and a half. The back room is freezing in winter even with their portable heater because there's a service entrance right next to the seats. Strictly enforces their 90 min meal time with penalty of 30%/30min on total bill. Thats compounding btw. Even if the amount of your drinks can pay two of the meals they'll still rather penalize you. Sorry if it sounds harsh and maybe even contradictory to the other 5 star reviews. If you want faster service go elsewhere. Picnic garden west on northern Blvd. Or even the new but pricier cast iron 3 also westbound. O2, you used to be our go to kbbq. But thanks to your many negs we had to replaced you with other choices. Another reason bring me back to this place is I dont need to cook the food myself. The servers will help you and let you know when its ready for eat. The staff will not give you any attention or help you cook the food at all. Let me preface this review by saying, this AYCE Korean buffet place does NOT have kalbi. So you're probably wondering, why bother? That's how I felt too, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway. Waited 2 hours for a party of 8 on a Friday night at 6:30 (they don't take reservations, at least not on the weekends), so we were all hangry by the time we sat down. Not to mention it was really cold in the waiting area. This is definitely a place to come with a group, because the grill is huge and with only 2 people sharing a grill, the meat will burn and dry out if you don't eat fast enough. Ironically, they don't have a lot of tables for large groups. They cook the meat for you, so you can't really pace yourself. Also, there is a 1.5 hour time limit during busy times, but not sure how strictly it's reinforced. I loved the grill itself, as the domed shape helps the excess oil to drain out so it's not as oily. My favorite was the beef brisket and pork belly, the steak was okay, and I didn't like the bulgogi or any of the other marinated meats (seems like it's all the same marinade, by the way). I was disappointed that squid was no longer was on the menu. You can order 4 types of meat at a time. The beef soup was good (it's like kalbi tang) and I loooved the steamed egg. The rice cake was trash, don't get it. Ventilation could be better, or a bag to put our jackets in would've been appreciated. Service was not the best either, but understandably so considering how busy they were. We all ordered soups but they said they were out of the little stone pots that they pour the soups in, so they only brought over a few bowls of soup and we had to wait for the rest. But liiike, why can't you bring it in regular bowls though?? Then they said they were making the soup. Said the same thing when we asked for hot tea (which never came). In summary, if not for the horrendous wait time, this would've be a solid 4 stars from me. For the price, I thought it was well worth it. Sure, the menus and dining experience are basically the same but in opening this location they provide: - A few banchan like seasoned bean sprouts, pickled chopped onions and julienned pickled radish - Ssam-mu (Sliced pickled radish for wrapping) - Lettuce for wrapping (if you request it) - 5 different dips for your meat All what I wanted from Cast Iron. Huzzah! But in all honesty, these additions and improvements are most likely due to them opening in an area with a significant Korean population. Gotta have a certain standard for them and they've provided. Differences here: - Prices are a few dollars more - Kimchi here is better - Beef soup is lighter and not as flavorful as Cast Iron - O2 BBQ is smaller, cleaner, simpler and nicer in interior. This is my favorite AYCE Kbbq spots however, the wait is not. Unless you come for lunch or an early dinner, be prepared to wait at least an hour. I've come on multiple occasions and have always had a long wait other than late lunch/early dinner OR super late night as they close fairly late. Parking in the area is a little difficult as there is only street parking and it is a fairly busy block. My favorite cuts to get are the brisket, pork belly, and pork skin. They use to not have kalbi but recently added it to the menu (yay!) Priced at 26.99 for dinner its definitely worth the price for unlimited meat and sides (rice, steamed egg, house salad, bean paste stew and beef soup). The service here is wonderful and as busy as it is, they never fail to be friendly and as accommodating as possible. That is my favorite part of coming here. Great AYCE kbbq spot with phenomenal service. Our server took care of grilling and cutting all our meats and quickly refilled side dishes when requested. The quality of the cuts aren't the best but at $26.95 per person for dinner regardless of weekday or weekend seems reasonable. They also offer a cheaper limited lunch menu on weekdays if that's what you're looking for. Upon arrival, our table was set up with a variety of sauces, a refreshing house salad, kimchi, bean sprouts, radish wraps, and more pickled side dishes. Lettuce wrap, garlic and jalapeños are available upon request and feel free to ask for more of anything at the table because it's all included and pairs extremely well with the fattiness of the kbbq. I'd recommend coming with 3 to 4 people so you can try a little bit of everything but my partner and I were still satisfied with just the two of us. We got the beef thin brisket (good, cooks quickly), top blade steak (our favorite), pork belly (good), pork jowl (okay), hanging tender steak (okay, kinda tough when cooked), beef bulgogi (meh, over marinated and too sweet), spicy pork skin (not a fan, it was gelatinous like), small intestines (not good, inside was very bitter). The portions of meat are on the larger side so you may want to start off with half orders first to see what you like and then get more of that. The steamed egg was wonderful but I do hope they'll offer corn cheese in the future and possibly adding kalbi to their menu? Some takeaways: - Be prepared to wait during dinner time, especially on the weekends. Come in to put your name down first. I'm definitely coming back again. We ordered the Lunch Special A for all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ for only $15! What a bargain. We ordered the spicy bulgogi, marinated chicken and the pork chop. It comes with four sauces and two kinds of dips. The bulgogi was quite good, not overly spicy and really tender. The chicken was a bit boring but the pork chop was the bomb. So delicious. It had enough fat to make it really tasty. The banchan was a little bit lacking though. They only gave out a salad, two types of pickled radishes, spicy rice cake and kimchi. I'm used to getting more banchan at other restaurants. I did appreciate that they cooked the meat for you. I thought it was great that there were showing K-Pop videos on the screens around the restaurant. I found the staff to be attentive. And they don't rush people out. O2 has become my go-to spot for AYCE KBBQ. I've even introduced it to my non-Asian coworkers who always want to come here now! The service here is usually good however the wait times can get pretty bad in the evenings and weekend but that goes without saying. They have several tables that can seat 4-6 and a large one that can seat about 10-12. There are three set menus: 2 for lunch which include different meat options for around $17 or $18 pp I believe, and a dinner option which includes all meats for $32(?). I think all three sets include stuff like spicy rice cake, egg, and beef stew for AYCE too. But the lunch sets are only for weekdays and you get about 2/3 of the full dinner menu. Overall the meat quality is pretty decent. My favs are the pork jowl and brisket. Pork belly and top blade steak are up there too. And it tastes great with that house made sweet brown sauce with onions and jalapeños in it. Some items not worth getting are the pork intestine (too gritty I couldn't finish it), anything with their spicy marinade like spicy pork belly (weird taste and not spicy), and the rice cake (not chewy enough.
