The speed which food were brought out is a little slow but it is a table service place so understandable VS a buffet where u grab your own. This was a long overdue KBBQ date, my pal and I had been planing to go to Picnic Garden since last year. A few Friday's ago we decided to come here instead and what a great decision it was. The time was around 8:30pm and there was a 20 min wait, this was not bad considering it was a Friday night, also time flies by when you're with good company. The price was very reasonable at $26 for unlimited meats. We noticed there wasn't any vegetable options, but this was fine since we were given unlimited salad, lettuce wraps, soups and rice as well as the banchan. I've been to O2 BBQ for so many meals and my experience has been solid every single time. For a great price they offer a huge selection and variety of meats, both plain and marinated. They offer a variety of menus for all you can eat, and the price is unbeatable during weekday lunchtimes. These menus also include tasty side dishes like rice, soups, and eggs, so your meal won't be one dimensional. My favorite option was the beef thin brisket - it was delicious and filled up very little room in my stomach, making it very easy for me to eat more. My only complaint with regards to the meat is that sometimes, the quality isn't as good and it doesn't taste as fresh as it usually does. O2 provides an array of dipping choices to use. Everything they put out is good, but I highly recommend their house sauce - the flavor was amazing, with a perfect blend of sweet and savory. We arrived and immediately were seated at our 4 top with a cooker in the middle and they use a large pot Lid instead of direct flame cooking...thats good and food dosent burn.. Its a large room with exhaust fans above each table keeping the smell from overpowering your senses...a good thing! We got Soju to get the party started and then perused the AYCE listing of proteins. While we looked our bon chon started coming out and was good...included steamed egg, our fav...The list of meats et. al is long and included some favs like Pork Belly, cheeks, Galbi, 2 different steaks and pork skin and ribs. We liked the pork belly, cheeks and galbi best and they were tasty and well cooked by our server. We rolled the meats in lettuce and added the condiments for a real taste treat. Definitely come during lunch!! Cheaper and you get the same selection with almost no wait time! I came on the weekday, and every time I come, I have the time of my life literally. You start with 3 meats and they bring it to you. You have the option of choosing different priced combos (each combination has a certain selection of meats you can choose from, with more expensive meats if you would like to choose that) and then you have a two hour limit. The selection is great depending on what you choose, and it is very affordable. Be careful coming for dinner or with big groups (I would make a reservation beforehand if you are planning on doing that). The sauces were okay. They had four different selections of sauces and you can ask for gochujang if you want something spicier. The server kept forgetting our order and we had to order the same stuff several times. The meats are better quality than other places but the sauces were so plain so no matter what you dip your meat in, it won't taste as good. The side dishes were also lacking, not a lot of options. The menu is small and it's AYCE so get whatever your heart desires. I'll just tell you what NOT to get: 1. House salad: the dressing was weird, just tasted really bad 2. We were three people and it was hard to hear each other. My BF and I can only eat a limited amount of meat so we opted for the all-you-can-eat lunch option: LUNCH A ALL YOU CAN EAT Mon ~ Fri Except Holiday (11:30am-3:00pm)$14.95 Spicy Chicken Marinated Chicken Pork Steak Spicy Pork Bulgogi House Salad Bean Paste Stew Spicy Rice Cake Beef Soup Rice There is a two hour limit so there is only so much 3 people can eat in 2 hours. We were only able to eat 2 spicy chicken portions (dark meat) , 2 marinated chicken (dark meat), about 4 pork steaks ( looked like pork shoulder), 1 portion of pork bulgogi between 3 people. They gave us three portions of rice when we asked for two. I really liked the toasted rice cakes served with just a little bit of spicy sauce on top; we ordered 3 portions. I never seen tteokbokki served this way before but prefer it the way O2 served it so it's not swimming in a ton of sauce. The BBQ was not served ssam, no lettuce wraps, so instead I just ate a lot salad with the meat which is fine for me. There were other options for side dishes but my lunch companions were not interested in the soup or stews. Personally, I just wanted the salad, meat and rice cakes. The all you can eat meat was not displayed buffet table style. We had to order what we wanted from the waiter which IMHO takes longer but they were okay as far as speed went. Still would have been faster buffet table style. The waiters helped with cutting up the meat. We asked for tongs so we can turn the meat ourselves which is fine with us. I did notice there was some communication gap. I would ask for certain amount of meat and they ignored the number I ordered. And they seemed to not understand we wanted 2 not 3 rice portions, etc. Not a big deal but I hate wasting food. As far as the banchan served on the table automatically, there was daikon all kinds of ways: sliced, julienned, marinated and pickled a few different ways, etc. It cuts the fat of the meat. I ignored the sauces. 2 hours is not a lot of time when we have to order the meats from a waiter. The time was taken up by ordering, waiting for the meat and of course cooking the meat. I felt the wait staff was a tiny bit slow too. Some waitstaff were moving faster than others, ours was slower. The lag time between plates of food is not fair when there is a time limit. There was a lot of wasted time waiting for food. The iron pot in the middle of the table was empty for quite a while. I felt they were on purpose bringing out small portions at a time and never brought out the amount we asked for. We were three people, they brought out one small portion at a time. They have a bunch of side dishes you can pick like stews or salads etc. The variety of meat is very diverse like chicken, pork, beef and seafood. This place reminds me a lot of Cast Iron in Jersey. The quality of the meat and everything is very similar to Cast Iron as well. The lunch specials here on weekdays seem really worth it. You can't go wrong with briskets either. The bulgogi was pretty juicy as well. The spicy rice cakes are very interesting. They're fried on the outside with some hot sauce lightly drizzled over it. The salad they provide you is rather plain, but refreshing with all the meat you'll be consuming. They give you different sauces that you can use with your meat. Places like O2 are not exactly on the top of the list for folks like myself who don't get off on AYCE spots, meat heavy restaurants, or needing "to get your money's worth." With that said, having been to O2 a few times, the quality of meats offered are some of the best in Korean BBQ I have ever had in NY. This is my second time here and I must say, I'm very impressed. I'm honestly not a big fan of all-you-can-eat korean bbq because most of them serve very bad quality meat. But this place, despite the fact that they don't serve kalbi, the meat is pretty good quality. My favorite meats here are the pork belly and the hanging tender steak. The service is very good also. I've got the opportunity to try this place before the end of 2018. It was extremely packed, although I guess it can't be helped because we literally went on the last weekend before we go into 2019. I have nothing bad to say about the service. You never really get to see an all you can eat pork belly place really anywhere. The sauce they give you on the side for the brisket is amazing, you can almost use it on anything. The only downside is when it's busy you have a time limit to eat. So if you want to go out eat and have a nice talk amongst friends I'd advise you to go during the slow hours. The staff was friendly and our 7:30 reservations were right on time. With covid-19 still going on, they only allowed 20 diners in the restaurant at a time. You're only allowed to order 4 items at a time and I can't help but wonder if the staff purposely brings out the meat slowly. The portions are also not big meaning as soon as they bring us the meats we would be finished quickly. Then then staff seems to pretend to not see you trying to get their attention to get more meats lol. When we finally would get their attention, they would take about 5 minutes to bring you out another small portioned plate. You see how frustrating it is for a group of guys that have a big appetite lol! Like I said, there's no proof that they really do do this but just a feeling. But I give this place 3 stars because I've been there 6 times the first time our server was very rude and she made the experience terrible. The second time I went there they lied about wait time they said 1 hour and ended up waiting 2 hours to even then be told it would be another 45 minutes so we just left. From the owners of the very successful Cast Iron Pot in New Jersey is this new AYCE Korean BBQ restaurant in Bayside! We came here as a group of 5 for dinner and got a table right away a little before 6pm on a Saturday. Be warned, it gets very busy during peak dinner hours so definitely get here a little early or make a reservation ahead of time. Being a relatively new restaurant, everything was very clean (prior to the grilling of course) and the environment was very comfortable. Service was very nice and they came by frequently to refill our waters and cut the meats. I would say the main selling point of this place are the cheap lunch and dinner prices. At other AYCE Korean BBQ restaurants in the area, dinner prices typically tend to go up to $40+ after tax and tip. We ended up paying $33 after tax and tip, which seemed like a steal but in retrospect, I think it's actually more worth it at more expensive Korean BBQ places like Picnic Garden. Here's why: 1) Aside from a few sides that consist of a house salad and a couple of soups, they don't offer anything other than meat. Not even lettuce. I know...if you're going to Korean BBQ you're there for the meat but honestly if you're just eating meat the entire meal it just ends up being too nauseating and that just ruins the entire experience. At least at Picnic Garden they offer a multitude of non-meat dishes like japchae, chicken wings, etc. 2) The meats themselves didn't taste that good. A good portion of the meats that we ordered weren't marinated so they ended up tasting really bland. Not even the dipping sauces that they offered could've saved the flavorless meat. Beef is typically the go-to meat but here, aside from the tasty bulgogi, the other beef/steak dishes that we ordered were very disappointing. On a positive note, the pork belly was delicious and even better than the famous samgyupsal at Hahm Ji Bach. 3) They don't serve kalbi...absolutely unheard of. How can you not have kalbi at Korean BBQ?? 4) They don't have those ventilators that come down close to the grill so literally smoke gets in your eyes lol. Also the grill is very impractical. Instead of the ingenious ones that they have at Picnic Garden, the ones here are concave down (like a turtle shell) so the whole table literally gets splattered with oil. So yeah, expect to leave drenched in oil droplets and smelling like meat. While I wouldn't consider my meal here to be a total flop, I think I would rather pay a few dollars more for a slightly better Korean BBQ experience.
