Chi-Town Hot Dogs in Rogers Park. Chicago has some of the best Hot Dogs places in the World. Vienna Brand Hot Dogs cooked and prepared just right are the best. Recently I went to Wolfys, a well known Hot Dog and Beef joint on Chicago's North side. Wolfys located at 2734 W. Peterson Ave. is an icon of the Rogers Park neighborhood. I went in and ordered double cheeseburger, fries and a Hot Dog. The Cheeseburger was good but not the best burger I have had in Chicago. The fries were crispy thin cut strings that were very good. The Hot Dog with all the toppings was a FIVE STAR , Hot Dog. Wolfys is Family Owned and operated and has been around since the 1960s. They are known for there great Hot Dogs. The Vienna gauge meat cooked just right with the toppings is awesome. The celery salt is the best. I had two hot peppers added to the Hot Dog that spiced it up just right. The service was good and the dining room seemed clean. Never, never order ketchup for the Hot Dogs, mustard only. That's a rule. The paintings inside the restaurant are kind of cool too. However, the prices were a bit on the high side and Wolfys does not stay open late. I gave Woofys THREE AND 1/2 STARS. The workers need to be trained in food safety. No gloves. The real problem is the grill workers will take raw meats out of the fridge and use the same hands to grab the bread, buns, etc. Somebody needs to fix that asap. Other than that the food is good. read more

Love love love wolfys! I used to eat there almost everyday as a kid from grammer school to high school and now haha doesn't help that I live across the street. Everything is great on their menu you would not be disappointed. My new favorite is the chipotle burger and sometimes I substitute the beef for grilled chicken and it is delicious it has jalapeños chipotle mayo spicy cheese and onions. I have been going to Wolfy's for over 10 years and I always get great food. The staff there is extremely nice and helpful and always accommodating. I have even gotten my seven-year-old son addicted to going there because it is so close to home. He loves their cheese fries while I enjoy their strawberry shakes. I was driving by Wolfy's and I had heard from a friend who lives in the Western suburbs that they were opening one there so I decided to try it. It was not bad - but it absolutely was not as nearly as good as a number of South Side hot dog/gyros places I have been to. The gyros was tasty, but had absolutely no crispiness to the meat. Although I ordered it with everything expecting sauce, tomatoes and onions, it came only with sauce and onions. I do have to say they were rather stingy with the sauce. The fries were ok - at least they were not coated or seasoned. The dining area was pleasant and above average for a hot dog stand. I would recommend it if you are in the area. I've been going to Wolfy's since I was born basically. I grew up 3 blocks from it, and while attending Mather High School, went there for lunch almost every day. Now I live so close to it again, I can see their huge sign from my bedroom window. (Romantic, I know.) This is the only place I go for hot dogs, burgers with grilled onions, and a wet beef that is to die for. I love being recognized not only by the owner, but by the guys who work there too. When we all had a power outage last year, I went to get a hot dog, and the workers and owner and I sat for an hour chatting. Plus they gave me my meal for free! Awesome neighborhood business, where people truly treat you as a neighbor. Iconic Chicago hot dog place. One suggestion though: Get Coke products! Pepsi sucks! Decent prices for average take-out burgers and hot dogs. The fries are tasty. I prefer the Portillo's hot dog, but that could just be personal preference. This one is classic Chicago style as well, but there's usually too much celery salt on it for me. Note -- I LOVE sport peppers on my dogs. Like, seriously, I could eat 10 of them on there, BUT not at Wolfy's. I don't know what planet their sport peppers come from, but they are some of the hottest I've tasted. I love the Wolfy's sign. Wolf---Wolfy's---Wolfy's. I go to Wolfy's for delicious and classic Chicago Hot Dogs and nothing else. I haven't tried any other menu items and am happy with just the dog. The service is pleasant and the food meets my expectations. The dog is hot and delicious. Though, I don't think my stomach can handle a Chicago Hot Dog or any dog for that matter any more, unless I want to suffer hours counting the bathroom tiles. read more

Stopped by for the first time today on a whim. Got burger and onion rings. Burger was a 2star. The condiments drowned out the thin burger. Too much lettuce and the grilled onion s didn't fit well with the cold condiments. They made the lettuce wilt. The onion rings were the fugasi ones, the ones with the minced onions. You should be able to pull a slice of onion from an onion rings. If you can't, it's fake. Wolfys are fake. 1star for onion ringettes. Burger had potential though. read more
