Visited to hear some live music... They are known as a live music venue... On a Friday night. Was sort of surprised that with three bands playing, there was only one bartender, no servers, and one person working in the kitchen. They worked their tails off... and were awesome! Atlantic bar & Grill has been hosting Cafe Cabaret and I can vouch for the food. Every person that has ordered food at my events has come up to me and raved. In all the places Cafe Cabaret has presented our shows, I've never heard compliments like this. And my devoted fans come early to have dinner and stay for Cafe Cabaret. I've had people stay late and patronize the bar. The Atlantic provides us with the back room space with tables and chairs so people can eat and enjoy the show. My experience coming here tonight was honestly such a bummer for me. I am new to the neighborhood and have been wanting to try this place. I walked in hoping to see if there was a table for the bears game later that evening for my friends to come meet me. When I walked in, the bartender asked if he could help me and I asked if there were tables available for the game (having never been here before and not knowing anything about the seating). He immediately made a loud joke about how all of the open tables were "made of cardboard" and everyone at the bar started laughing at me. This made me uncomfortable as I was a woman by myself entering a bar I've never been to before. Instead of answering my question or expressing that it was a joke, the bartender continued to double down and make multiple additional comments at my expense about how the open tables were fake and not for use, etc. I started getting uncomfortable and embarrassed with an entire bar of people laughing at me when I was honestly just trying to find a table and bring business to them. Maybe this is how the staff here approaches customer service, but the "joke" was taken much too far. I felt so unwelcome that I turned around and left and will not be coming back. It would have been nice to have felt a small amount of warmth and hospitality instead of a bar full of people laughing at me. I'm not really sure what I did to deserve that but it felt very unkind and it upset me. read more

Been here many times for early morning Spurs (Tottenham) matches, so my review will be largely from that standpoint. The menu is simple but well executed, exactly what you would want at 6 AM while you're trying to take in a match. The crowd is friendly and, as it should be, die hard Tottenham, happy to chat with neighbors and welcome newcomers. The service and space is generally good (especially if the bar dog is present), but one thing people should keep in mind is for big games, or when it's a late morning/early afternoon match, it can become a standing room only bar, and at that point things will understandably slow down. In other words, be understanding when it's a packed house, and be sure to get there early (45 minutes or more depending on time of game) if you want to guarantee a good spot at the bar or table. If you keep all that in mind and plan accordingly, this is a great place to come if you're a Tottenham fan or a neutral looking to take in some soccer. read more

We both ordered the Fish & Chips with an extra filet for $3.00. They come with fries, tots, or waffle fries, and they give you plenty. The filets were cooked just right, tender and filling. I ordered iced tea but they only had it in cans which were too sweet and weak. They only had high-top tables and chairs, I prefer a regular table. In the interest of full disclosure I have started a business relationship with this place. Aside from that though I enjoyed coming here for dinner and a beer. Wednesday night was Shepherd's pie for 6.95 it was delicious, warm and savory and exactly what I needed to warm up this winter. I started with the curry fries which is a delicious appetizer, and reminded my brief vacation in England. The fries are thick cut, steak fries and the curry sauce was just the right balance of spice. My friend ordered the chicken wings, nothing special but not bad either, not spicy enough but still tasty. Can I say that I'm amazed that there's an Irish bar in Chicago actually owned and operated by Irish people? The owner Col, is friendly and has an accent so thick that it's almost hard to understand him. Every bartender there seems to be Irish and they even pour little shamrocks into the heads of Guinesses, a nice touch that I've often heard about but have never seen until now. I brought a large group of friends here this weekend and everyone loved it, it was a place that didn't mind 9 people talking loudly, telling slightly off color jokes and laughing obnoxiously. Everyone agreed that this was a great find and my sister even wants to work part time here. They're starting a pick up/drop off service free of charge soon, a great idea for a bar if I ever heard one and soon they'll have college and ladies night in February. Shock top Belgian ale drafts and Shiner Bock, great selection of beers on draft. Nightly specials with drinks under $5 bucks and a cutie bartender (on some rare nights). Oh and street parking which is never busy. When Atlantic closes and you realize you need food, White Hen pantry is next door with the Digiorno's that's on your mind. If you know your going to be drinking drunken bring a friend and call them ahead of time for a reservation on their bus. They'll provide the transportation home, that's an awesome FREE service you can't find anywhere. read more

My husband & I love this bar. All of the bar tenders & staff are super friendly, competent & efficient. The food is really good & prices are reasonable. The servings are so big that always end up with meals for next day. They have a relatively recent, but experienced cook who has really improved the food in the last year, although it was always pretty good. They have specials all the time. They make typical bar food, but it's delicious. My favorite are the Irish Nachos. I don't often crave food from a bar, but I often do now. They usually have live music on weekends with great acts & have a back area for comfortable sitting during acts, or hosting parties. We go here almost every weekend. Went here last night for the first time since before the pandemic. Apparently they have switched owners and even though the place looks the same, it sadly is not. While the bartender working was very nice, pleasant, and attentive the good ends there. The menu and food are lacking big-time. My burger was a stepup from Wendy's and my husband's Shepard's pie was lacking. I really hope the new owner turns it around quickly to hang on to the following this place has. Great bar to celebrate a friend's b'day on a frosty Saturday night. It was a little tight in the front area near the door but we definitely made it work with a nice sized group. I noticed there was a huge room in the back that seemed to accommodate huge bday parties. The guy that seemed to manage/own the place was very nice as he hooked us up with a free round of shots as we told him we were celebrating a b'day. I've been to plenty of soccer bars whose still drunk bartender stumbles in 5 minutes before kickoff or after start. +Bartender was attentive and pleasant +Irish breakfast was average to good +Bar TVs well placed and modern +Friendly Spurs fans (if you see an older gent - named Harris say hi) - Cons - Some of the most fair weather fans I've encountered that yell complaints throughout the match, kind of takes away from the fun when you're around some negative neds.... I get it when you're team is down but throughout the game just makes me think some of that crowd just aren't happy with their lives ;) read more

Overview: If you're in the neighborhood and you don't mind smoke, the Atlantic is a decent place for a few low-key Thursday night drinks. On the weekends it might even be worth a bit of a trek, as their back room appears to be set up for massive sports viewing fests. The interior is new, clean and comfortable. Service is pretty good and the food is okay. Most of the time I was here I was focused on catching up with a friend I hadn't seen in a while so I didn't absorb every detail of the place, but there were a few things that stood out: - Smoking. Seems like the Atlantic is holding out until the last possible minute on the smoking thing and the clientele is making the most of that. At least half of the people in here (~ 15 - 20 overall) were smoking and it was palpable to those of us who weren't. - TVs. There were a couple well positioned in the front room, and the back room seemed to have some massive screen, which would clearly be useful for NFL Sundays. - Service. I'm not decided on whether this is an example of good service or bad service. I'll just relay what happened and you can come to your own judgments about it. After two glasses of 312 I ordered a glass of Miller Lite to begin the wind down phase of the evening. It tasted off. At first I thought it might just be the sequence of 312 before Lite that influenced my taste buds. But after 3 or 4 sips, it was clearly off. So I brought it back to the bartender and told him I'd be glad to pay for another beer if I was wrong, but I thought the Lite was off. He said it wouldn't be a problem and poured me another 312, telling me the Lite was at the end of the keg. It was nice that he quickly poured me another beer, but if he knew the Lite keg was beyond its last legs, why didn't he mention that when I ordered it? New to Chicago and lucky this place is within walking distance from my house. It's my new "go to" for Sunday night dinner. Bangers and mash are yummy with homemade gravy and the potato soup topped with loads of bacon is divine! The owner (Kyle) is from Ireland, making this place more authentic than most of the Irish pubs in the area. He will definitely keep your glass full, that's for sure. If you like soccer/football, come early for the match because it gets packed! Brought my California friends and they were so happy with everything! I used to live in this neighborhood, so I used to come here with my then roommate quite often. We'd usually get the same thing, the friendly staff gets to know you and know your order, etc etc. Though after a while, they completely changed the menu and most of our favorites were gone! The chef even joked about it when we were in 7-11 next door "Man, they took away all of your favorites!" I guess that was the beginning of the end for us there, but I have since moved anyway. Their beer selection is good, and they don't skimp on drinks. It's somewhat of a sports bar, they seem to be big on soccer games but without the douchey sports fans that you get in Wrigleyville. Seamus is the main dude in there and he's a real cool guy. If you live in the hood, then this could definitely be 'your spot' so check it out. read more

Worst service! We were there early to watch a Premier League match. The waitress, an older woman with long hair came by and was unhappy that we're not ready to order when she came by. She proceeded to say that we could not sit there and not order anything. We had full intentions to eat there and just needed time to decide what we wanted to eat. We ended ordering coffee only and leaving after the match. Never again. To the owner, train your staff to be patient and courteous. Awful woman! read more

We loved this place. I found it on Yelp when I searched for "bars cute men" and this place was .2 miles from our restaurant. Yelp was spot on too! Atlantic Bar & Grill is an Irish bar that has about five televisions showing different sports on each. Even though rugby wasn't one of the sports we could tell that Atlantic Bar & Grill is a big fan. They had rugby stuff on the walls. Anyway, the televisions were easy to see but weren't distracting from our conversation. The bar had a lively din but was not so loud where I couldn't easily hear my friends. Later, they told me that I was Drunky McDrunkerson and speaking loud enough for the whole bar to hear me talk about my Leprechaun friend and which guys I thought were hot enough for my sister. HOW embarrassing. ANYWAY, our server guy was Irish and I loved him to pieces. He was funny and on top of things. He didn't seem to mind me calling him my Leprechaun if it's true that the whole bar could hear me saying that. We all liked our drinks. We also liked the cheese fries and the curry tater tots. My sister liked her Ruben sandwich. There were hot men to be seen but not in such quantities that it was intimidating. In fact, the vibe of the bar was really familial and casual. When we first walked in there was a young woman holding a baby with a toddler in a stroller (heck - I thought I'd walked into The Alibi Room in "Shameless"). We all loved it and want to go back. SO - if anyone from Atlantic Bar & Grill reads this, I am sorry for speaking in such a loud voice and I promise to speak more appropriately next time. I hope that I didn't offend anyone. P.S. I am about to write 5 words I never thought I would ever write: This is my favorite bar. I know, it's crazy, but while I will go to a bar I've never really been in love with one before. They all serve alcohol and have TVs, what else is there really? Well, Atlantic has a few things that make me love it. First is the fact that everyone that works here is Irish. Literally, off the boat Irish. They're also friendly, funny, helpful, and waste no time getting you food or drinks. These guys are what every server should be, and they do it while smiling and having fun. The second reason I love this place is that they offer one of my all time favorite meals: corned beef and cabbage. And as I saw from the plates of the 2 people that ordered it, they don't skimp on the portion. Large slices of beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots... Yum!! I was able to snag a couple of bites of cabbage and it was delicious. It reminded me of when my mom would spend the day making a corned beef for dinner, only better. There are also the best curry fries I've ever had, and tots covered in faux cheese. After some fries and tots I didn't have room for the corned beef :( The thing that really tipped the scales for me to fall in love with this place is that the night I happened to stop in there was live entertainment. Usually this would not impress me except that this guy was Irish and was singing a great mix of Irish folk songs mixed with remakes of some seriously amazing songs. By the end of the night I wanted to take the Irish guy home purely so that he could sing to me all the time. While I have never been to Ireland, after I left I couldn't help but feel that I had just spent a few hours in a real Irish Pub. read more

From what I can remember, I had a very good time. Guiness may be the Nectar of the Gods, but it's a Nectar that can bite you in the ass. The Atlantic is amazing. It's a Irish bar that employs real Irish people, has a real Irish singer (from Ireland) and serves real Irish booze. In all seriousness, the singer was awesome. He sang a mix of traditional, Irish folk songs with a few American folk ballads mixed in. He was quite the talented (Irish) fellow. I made the mistake of having dinner before my visit to the Atlantic, so I didn't get a chance to sample the food. The menu is quite reasonably priced and the food looked awesome. They serve a decadent, cheesy tater tot dish that looked like a artery hardening, good time. My visit to the Atlantic could not have been more fun. I have finally found a great bar to hang out at that's fairly close to my house. I can't wait to go back and sample the debauchery again. read more
