This was an excellent stop for a late lunch for us! The staff was amazing, but our waitress Mickey? Absolutely phenomenal--attentive, warm, and made the made sure we enjoyed our time there. Chef Bart was just as impressive--super down to earth, welcoming, and most importantly... he threw DOWN on those lemon pepper wings. Hands down the best I've ever had. The food is really good. And our server was nice and attentive. We tried their burger & wings - which were amazing. Their grilled corn was chefs kiss. The tomato soup wasn't my fav. I couldn't wait to do a review for this establishment! I saw that The Black Foodies had done a good review here and I've been wanting to try ever since. But what really got me is when I found out that they have Karaoke on Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. We have a Karaoke group that has been going to the same place for awhile now and we wanted to try someplace different while celebrating one of the group members birthdays so on 12/11/25 evening, we stopped in. We had made a reservation since it was 5 of us. This was the absolute BEST experiences I have ever had. Chez Bart welcomed our group and he just showed us how happy he was to have us there. We ordered the devil eggs, BBQ wings, Buffalo Wings, the Smashburger with sweet potato fries (those fries are a $2 upcharge but so worth it) and a variety of mixed drinks. Everything was DELICIOUS! Staff was so friendly, engaging and kind. Chez was ready for the Karaoke shenanigans to begin. There is a big screen and he has Karafun songs to choose from which is great because they have such a large selection of songs to choose from. He had 2 mics for us and those mics were so clear and strong to hear our voices - we were like WOW!! So, we had so much fun singing songs - other patrons came in and they knew one of our group members had a b-day so as they came in or left would wish her a happy b-day. Just nice people who were coming in either to eat a nice meal or pick up for carry out. It unfortunately got to 9 p.m. (closing time) and we knew we had to stop the Karaoke so we were trying to wrap it up and stopped. Chez Bart was like "why did you all stop? I didn't kick you out, keep going!!" We were shocked and excited at the same time. The fun continued. The staff was enjoying us being there and we in turn enjoyed staying there. Bart brought us b-day shots and let us try his espresso martini. When we were done, he was nice enough to give all of us water to go because he knew we were all going to be driving home and wanted us to be safe. Just so considerate! We found a new spot for our Karaoke. We told him we would definitely do a review on his establishment. Adele is his dear Mom and that is who the place is named after. They opened on 12/27/24 so it's almost been a year. They do have Happy Hour specials from 3-6 p.m. that I'd like to try sometime. We will definitely be back. He let us know that the nice things he did for our group wasn't for reviews but to be welcoming so that all what may be going on with us before we came there, we could forget and enjoy ourselves there which we all needed. Please patronize this establishment, I assure you, you won't be disappointed. Everything was 5 stars - location, food, drinks, customer service, fun Karaoke. Highly recommend this little spot. Large gorgeous patio in the back. Cute front restaurant. The food was terrific. Menu has sandwiches and burgers, traditional, West African dishes, and even a kids menu. Tonight I had the chicken maafe and it was wonderful. The flavors did not disappoint, the portion size is perfect, and the price was affordable. My friends had smash burgers and said they were terrific. The owner was an amazing host and the staff really nice Working on their liquor license so BYOB right now. Greg, the Karaoake KJ, is a hoot for Wednesday night karaoke!!! Went here for Happy Hour on the Thursday. A few of my friend's were there ahead of me and ordered wings. I wanted to order wings, too, but for some reason they didn't have anymore. So, I decided to order the plantains. I was expecting them to be flattened but they were cubes. Regardless, they were plentiful and good. I wanted something else so I asked for the Deviled eggs on the Happy Hour menu. Its two sliced eggs but the flavors were delicious! Its a must try. The super nice waitress was telling me about the West African spice used and that I need to try it on another dish they serve. Next time! For drinks I had their margarita, plain and one mango, which were decent. The vibe of the place was also cool: clean and modern. The 90s R&B and Hip Hop Music was bumpin. This is going to sound insane but these burgers are now in my top 3 in Chicago! And I've tried Levitt Street, Red Hots, Small Cheval and many others but this one takes the cake. Right off the bat, a good start with the soft potato bun. Patties are very flavorful and not dried out as is common in other smash burgers. Sauteed onions are not overpowering and help add to the condiment selection of pickles, ketchup and mayo. Rounded out with a standard American cheese, which to me is the default choice. read more

Chez Adele has been a go to since they opened. The ambiance and service are second to none. The recent addition of a bar elevates the experience even further. Don't miss Karaoke nights either! Had a great experience. initially stopped in to try the burger, but I found that the menu was very intriguing and we ended up trying a wide variety of appetizers and entrées, including a few of the African dishes. The burger lived up to expectations and African cuisine was extremely flavorful and well seasoned, everything we tried was outstanding. The service was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The Brussels sprouts and beef dumplings were some of the best appetizers, and the wings were packed with flavor and cooked perfectly.. I stopped at Cafe Adele last night after a recommendation from a friend. I was greeted immediately by staff and welcomed. Made my to go order and was given ice water and asked a couple times if I needed anything else. It was clean, adorable, has a great drink menu and a varied menu. Thanked for my order when leaving and had door held open. Ok, got home started eating the smash burger. It was fantastic with crispy edges and tasty beef. The hand cut fries didn't even need ketchup, and I'm a ketchup person. They were perfectly cooked. Run to try this place. I tried the smash burger with fries, it was above average. However, all items have a 20% surcharge to help pay staff. I thought I was helping to pay staff by eating here. It's basically a forced tip. Went here with my family and all four of us loved our meals, which doesn't happen often. The smash burger was amazing, and I ordered the goat -- it did not disappoint at all. The fries were perfectly cooked and super delicious. We also tried the milkshakes and they were really good; the cookies and cream was the best in my opinion. First time at Chez Adele, and we really loved it! Got to meet Chef Bart, who was super nice. His food is DELICIOUS. Get the corn ribs....you will be glad you did. I got the chicken suya bowl - very impressed with the seasoning! And my daughter had the smashburger, which she loved. I also enjoyed their special mocktail - Bissap (hibiscus flower). Rum cake - warm with ice cream - was a perfect sharing dessert. We ate outside as it was a nice night, and the vibe is super relaxed and easy. We looked forward to trying Chez Adele after a coworker recommended it. We came in last Thursday evening and were welcomed warmly by the server. Our server couldn't be more friendly or helpful during our entire stay. We started with the lemon pepper wings which came hot and crispy. They were yummy! We all ordered smash burgers. On the menu it states the toppings that come with the burger....onions , American cheese, ketchup, mustard etc. Upon taking our order the server asked what kind of cheese we wanted with our burger and named several. I chose swiss, the others in our party chose provolone and american. The burgers were good, nothing outstanding, but OK. When our bill came we noticed that because we ordered swiss and provolone cheese we were charged an extra $2 per burger. I have never been upcharged for a different cheese and probably wouldn't have even changed the cheese from American if our server didn't ask us if we preferred a different cheese. I explained my feelings to our server and she removed the charge. I suggested next time she let it be known if you change the cheese from American you will be adding $2 to the price of the burger.There was an automatic 20% service charge that was added to our bill which we were happy to pay as our tip. read more

Everything went very well as we discovered this sweet spot this afternoon and went for dinner tonight. I was excited about the West African influenced dishes and my wife was looking for a great burger. Bingo! We started with the incredible Brussels Sprouts, super flavorful, and mixed that with the fried plantain. My wife loved her classic smashburger, and I relished the Maafe. My husband and I had high hopes for the food and being are first time trying their food we expected GOOD food. We spent over $80 and ordered the Philly cheese sandwich with fries and the beef ribs with fries as well. The sandwich bread did not come toasted and the quality of the sandwich itself was mediocre. The ribs were a huge disappointment and the fries had more burnt ends than anything else. You can get a full slab of ribs from Smoque Barbecue for the same price as the 3 fatty beef ribs that were sent. My husband had a huge stomach ache from the food. Great neighborhood addition to the Bryn Mawr corridor. The menu options span Asian, African, and American cuisine but not in an overwhelming way - the selections are complementary to each other so you won't feel like the combos don't mix. The Maafe was delicious and I especially like the fried plantains. Have a hankering for a burger? Guess what, they do them wonderfully! Smash burgers are excellent both size and taste - appetites will be challenged! Great to have this option and the family that runs it have been super kind and friendly with excellent service. This was delicious! I ordered the chimi chicken sandwich. It was so moist and tender. The breading of the chicken was so crispy. We came there for a birthday and the service was awsome they really made it feel special. The owner even came to our table to sing for the birthday. It was a wonderful day outside so we decided to sit outside. We felt so relaxed. This is also a new restaurant but it is so put together and wonderful.
