    Western omelette and homefries
    Jason M.

Been driving by Wolfe's for about 14 years. The lot is always full and I've heard good things. Finally had an opportunity to stop and have a meal since I was in the area on business. My coworker and I left feeling, meh. Plenty of food it just wasn't all that great. He had a country fried steak, mashed, and carrots and his bills was about $10. He took food with him and reported it was "ok." I had a western omelette, dark dry rye bread, an order of home fries, and an order of French ghosts. The toast had butter on it. The home fries were mushy and flavorless. The omelette looked great but had no flavor. And the French ghost was bread soaked in pancake batter. This was confirmed by our extremely friendly and attentive server who even stated, voluntarily, that French toast is supposed to be bread with eggs, milk, vanilla, possibly cinnamon and then topped with powdered sugar. My entire meal tasted "tan" -- flavorless, mushy, meh. My food came out to $16.50 with the coffee. Perhaps the burgers would have been a better choice but omelettes are usually a safe and tasty option. Our server was a gem and we liked the inside of the diner -- which was clean, comfortable, and "cozy" -- but without good food and good coffee, well, I won't go back.

Typical diner vibe. Staff last was a little rude but they were also busy. Food was also typical diner. Cost was great though.

My partner and I happened to pass by this place on our way to a wedding and I pulled a U turn at the next light to go here. We love old fashioned stainless steel diners. This particular diner is beautifully maintained. There's even old table jukeboxes at each table that still work! I ordered sausage gravy and biscuits and an order of scrapple, which I've never had before. The food was good, and while scrapple isn't quite my thing, it was an interesting meat pancake to try out. Definitely worth a stop, especially if you're into nostalgia Americana.

We used to love going here! So glad we decided to try it this morning! 2 waitress keep it flowing for sure. Where else can you get s cup a coffee for $1.35? Good food and old time charm. Fast friendly service and really decent prices!

    An authentic roadside diner car.

This place is great! Fast, friendly, authentic diner service. The food was good, the price was right, and there are some superb food options here. Ask what's home made (most of it) and what they recommend. The prices for all of the lunch specials just can't be beat. I got a staple menu item which was the Wolf Burger....1/4 lb. cheese burger with onion rings for $3.50. That's a good deal. Next time I'll add bacon to it, though. Also had some of their home made soup (chicken and rice) which was very good. Can't beat a bowl of home made soup from a diner and as I already said, the service was extremely fast. Keep patronizing these places or we'll continue to get overrun by fast food chains. Wolfes Diner is a classic! This is a local place where they know everybody's name and the regulars don't have to look at the menu. CASH ONLY, though, so stop at an ATM first.

I commute from the great white north to south of the Mason-Dixon so this is a weekly stop along that route. Let's set the stage--it's an honest-to-goodness real stainless steel diner built by O'Mahoney in 1955. It's pretty much original and unmolested since the day it was built. The wear marks on the counter Formica are a testament to this establishments longevity I always get breakfast and it's always great. The price is embarrassingly low so I usually leave a tip equal to the price of the food--you should too. The staff is THE MOST FRIENDLY and accommodating I've ever experienced. If you're in a hurry, you can be in and out in 20 minutes. In summary: great diner fare, poverty pricing and service that's beyond phenomenal.

Rotten lettuce throughout the salad-- started pulling out the rotten pieces then realized it was all like that...

Really wanted to give this place a chance, considering it's an authentic highway diner from another era. Unfortunately it's a top contender for "kitchen nightmares". I've had my share of crap food while traveling but this is amonng the absolute worst. Ordered a Greek salad and onion rings. Entire salad was filled with slimy transparent rotten lettuce. "Oil and vinegar" dressing was two bottles-- one cheap vegetable oil, one white vinegar with dust on the outside and the "mother" floating in the bottom of the bottle. Onion rings were clearly frozen before fried did not contain actual onion, but rather were round "O" shaped of onion flavored breading. Honestly when my boyfriend and I left first thing he said in the car was "we would have been better off going to m Donald's..."

Now, years later, my wife and I would pass by the new 81 diner and would always say we needed to try it. We'll, today was the day. We stopped in for lunch, and aside from a gentleman waiting for his to-go order, we were known as the customers. I guess not a lot of people eat at 3 in the afternoon. The atmosphere was very nice. The tables, chairs and booths all fit the diner nicely. My cheesesteak sub was very tasty. Their menu said no substitutions, but they let me withhold the lettuce, tomatoes and onions, which I'm not fond of, so I'm glad they let me do that. Along that note, my wife ordered the BLT sandwich, and gave me some of the bacon, which was really good! Our friend George ordered the pizza burger, which also looked good, and he seemed to enjoy it. Their fresh cut fries were fantastic as well. If I had anything to complain about, it would be that the music being piped in was too modern for a classic diner atmosphere and wasn't something we were expecting. Hopefully that's something they will eventually change. Maybe next time we will stay long enough to try some of their desserts, which looked pretty good too. We will definitely be back soon.

We both went with the dinner specials, which were only 14.99 each and came with two sides. I ordered the ribs and my husband got the NY strip with butterfly shrimp. For the price, the portions were honestly huge. My ribs were fall off the bone tender and coated in a tangy BBQ sauce that had just the right balance of sweet and smoky. Easily one of the better diner style rib plates I have had. The fries were natural cut, perfectly seasoned, and had that ideal texture where they are pillowy inside with a light crisp on the outside. The succotash was simple but still good and comforting. My husband's steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and had great flavor throughout. The butterfly shrimp were crispy and paired really well with the steak. His side salad was super fresh with iceberg lettuce, cucumber, tomato, onion, and shredded cheddar. I did not even get a photo of it because he immediately dug in and loved it. The service really stood out too. Everyone was so attentive and quick to help with anything we needed like extra napkins or more sauce. It felt very welcoming and genuinely cared for. The interior has that true hometown diner feel where it seems like everyone knows each other. It is mostly booths with some tables and even a classic counter with stools, which gives it that nostalgic diner vibe. With both meals and drinks, our total was under $40, which feels rare lately for portions and quality like this. This is one of those spots where you leave full, happy, and feeling like you got an actual deal. Definitely worth stopping in if you are in the area.

I really like they serve breakfast all day. There appears to be something for everyone, including vegetarians and vegans. - Quality. I appreciate that the food was not salty. You can tell they use frozen corn and heated it up, but the broccoli appeared and tasted fresh. - Service. I ordered takeaway and was told it would be ready for pick up when I arrived. When I asked how long that would take, the staffer responded about 15 minutes. That was the amount of time it took for me to get there. Sure enough, my order was already packaged and ready for pick up. They appear to cater to the traveling community and those who need their orders in a short amount of time. - Portions. Good value for money. Really good size portions. Definitely enough to get me full and to share with my husband. - Location. Easy to find and there's a decent size parking lot, which is helpful for larger vehicles, which I saw plenty of when I arrived. There's a decent size seating area, as well, with tables big enough to sit for parties larger than 4. What's not - Quality.
