I would give this place 5 stars if they had better customer service and a less confusing menu. It was my first time here, as well as my boyfriends- I wanted to get a 2 item vegan plate- but apparently that wasn't an option with vegan items, i could only get 1 item. My boyfriend wanted to get a 2 item (regular meat) plate- but was only able to order 1 item as well because he was ordering off the menu and not what was already out in front of us. (They have a Panda Express set up- anything there was eligible for a 2 item plate). Anyways- the food was really good and I was overall happy despite the customer service. I got the vegan garlic chicken & chow mein and an order of the orange chicken. We found this place one day after leaving Staples and it caught our eye that they have vegan options! We ordered chow main, rice and vegan orange "chicken" and it was DELICIOUS! It's now our go to for take out on the weekends. The staff is also friendly and very helpful. We asked for extra sauce and they made sure it was just right. Don't go here. If you want to know why here's my experience: Quiet week night wanted to get some good vegan food and had heard about this place. There were only two people in the place when we got there. It took 45 mins from the time we ordered until they brought out our to go order. On top of this they forgot half of it in the back. The service itself was rushed and they were running around like crazy trying to sort things out. The phone was constantly ringing and they refused to answer it because they were so far behind. The food itself is fine, and if this review was food only would be 3/5 stars but I'm never coming back.. 45 mins for this fugly sandwich makes me sad. read more

The combination with 1/2 chow mein and 1/2 fried rice is a lot of food, and probably a lot of sodium, so to those who are on a low sodium diet, I would recommend a white rice bowl with choice of entree. Same four dining out on our Friday night excursion my sister, brother in law, and my wife who wanted to eat ramen noodles. Good ramen noodles in Long Beach? Really? I don't think so! We've been here before and saw on the menu that they served ramen noodles so decided to try it out. The Chinese take out items are scarce in the display case but what's nice here is that they cook to order if they don't have enough in the case. It's fast and hot, I like that idea. The New Orleans chicken is really tasty but most importantly for us, the ramen noodles is comparable to the likes of the good ramen shops in the South Bay. I couldn't believe it. The miso broth was outstanding and the slices pork were so tender! NIcely done! I hate to sound prejudice but you wouldn't expect to get good ramen noodles from a Chinese take out but this miso ramen noodles was OUTSTANDING!!!! The only reasons not to give a 5-star was the fact that the tables were a little dirty and the restroom just wasn't up to my liking. The service was fast and efficient. I did ask for vegan eggrolls but I didn't confirm if the wrappers are really vegan. Still pretty good. Vegetable Delight - should be called Cabbage Delight with a hint of broccoli and a carrot slice. I didn't see any water chestnuts in it. Vegan Beef Broccoli - very flavorful. I'm not too crazy about the flavor of the vegan beef, but the rest of it was very good, saucy, and garlicky! Veggie Chow Mein - I was looking forward to this since so many people raved about it. It wasn't as good as I expected. It's not bad though. It's just your typical fast-food chow mein. Just awful! Went here a few days ago because it's nearby. I ordered the combo where I could get two entrees and two sides. I got the fried rice and chow mein, along with orange chicken and the New Orleans chicken. The orange chicken tasted like it was dipped in orange juice. If you're into that, then yeah. The New Orleans chicken was pretty bomb. Went well with the rice. The major problem I had was the chow mein. It ruined the whole experience for me. It tasted awful. If I could describe it (something I've been struggling with for the past few days because it was just so gross), I'd say it is like expired + overcooked noodles, with the slimy-ness of a bucket of slugs. I looked at the other reviews and know that I'm not the only one who is disgusted by their chow mein. Seriously, do these people care about their customers and about self-improvement? Even McDonald's strives to improve to impress people. Even Panda Express has better chow mein and I really don't like their thin, bland noodles... Forever turned off by this place. Wok 'n Roll is easily my favorite spot in Long Beach. The city can be a little lacking in vegan options, but this place does something special. It's LB's little vegan food gem. The restaurant isn't entirely vegan, they have a whole vegan-friendly vegetarian menu including 'meat' fried-rice or chowmein, a couple of sandwiches, soups, and seriously THE BEST vegan chicken nuggets i've tried so far. As for the main options, they pretty much can make you anything off their regular menu as a vegan dish. They use all vegan sauces and prepare all the vegan dishes in a separate part of the kitchen. It's pretty awesome, I especially like the fact that the vegan food is prepared fresh to order. My relationship with chow mein was rekindled after I crossed paths with Wok n Roll and I LOVE it! It was almost impossible to find it vegan. You can choose between Kung Pao Chicken/Beef, Broccoli Beef, Curry Chicken (one of my favs!), and Garlic Chicken just to name a few. This place takes me back, if you want to indulge on a massive amount of chinese food with no regrets other than you forgot to order the chicken nuggets.. GO NOW! I'd say this place offers to satisfy your craving for juicy, hot, delicious Chinese food while it also offers to serve you healthier options (vegan, vegetarian, grilled, etc). Ordering is fast, convenient, and easy. Comparing it to chains like Panda, I like how this place has more unique options like garlic chicken and everything looked less greasy, more fresh, and i saw a lot of vegetables in many main entrees! That is always a big plus in my book. They also pack in a lot in the box (we got 2 entree 1 side). I got the Garlic chicken, beef and broccoli, and chow mein. I am totally annoyed. I've been waiting 25 minutes for an order of chicken fried rice!! Make that 30 minutes now. This is absolutely and totally ridiculous!!! I have never in my life been to a Fast food Chinese restaurant where it took this long to get out an order. Surprisingly the restaurant was empty!! WTF!!! Had the counter server told me it would take 20+ minutes before the order would be available I had the option to wait or go elsewhere. But no, she ran the card and charged for the food without any notification of length of time. PART 2. The order of fried rice cost $9.91 and was in the smallest container ever (see the picture). Wok N Roll is a standout among Chinese steam table, Panda-Express style restaurants. In fact, it's so much more than just another cheap Chinese food place. For starters it's not especially cheap - the food is a good deal at $6 - $10 for combos that will fill you up twice over (still cheaper and much better than Panda Express but there's lots of hood Chinese spots with bowls for $5 or under), but the quality definitely reflects the extra price over most of these style restaurants. Speaking to the family who owns it, you can really tell that they genuinely care about their customers as well as about their cooking. The other thing that really sets wok n roll apart from any other Chinese place especially around long beach is the full vegan menu including the fried rice and noodles which are 100% vegan with no egg or fish sauce, & all of the dishes are cooked with vegetable oil. The vegan options are delicious, and although I have seen other Chinese vegan restaurants in SGV and Rowland heights areas, most of them only sell food in the family style, a huge plate for 3 or 4 people to share per entree. Wok n roll is unique in that they will cook you personal portions and you can even choose two different meat or vegan entrees and they will cook it for you and served with a huge portion of rice, vegetables, or noodles (or any combination of; they also have brown and white rice) all for under $10. Another standout is their experimentation with fusion dishes and new flavors. I highly recommend the rice burger - it takes a while to make but the wait is worth it - and the cold noodle plate, which comes with freshly chopped pico de gallo and delicious house made kimchi as well as your choice of meat. They also have a good number of traditional Taiwanese dishes such as fried tofu, popcorn chicken, and beef noodle soup, all of which are delicious, and their boba is good for the area. Shout out to the workers too for always being personable and helpful and patient with new customers who are daunted by their extensive menu. They also are happy to make dietary accommodations or customize dishes! (Although it may take a while during the lunch or dinner rushes). Delivery is also usually timely and the food for delivery is always made fresh even if it is an item available on the steam table. read more
