a meal in a styrofoam container

I thought this place was the bottom of the barrel for fast Chinese food after having a meal here. This place makes Panda Express looks good. Quality- the noodles were very oily. Each bite of noodle was dripping oil. The noodle was over cooked and I couldn't really taste much besides oil. The meat was really chewy. It took a while to chew through it. Quantity- you get a lot less for the amount you pay compared to panda and other similar places. This was 12 bucks. The quality is also inferior. Atmosphere- the tables are dirty. I had to wipe it down before eating. Service- no comment here. Just check out with food and eat. Nothing special

We was walkin in da Mall workin up an appetite & had a hankerin fer sum vittles so we stopped off at the food court to grab sum chow. We decided on Wok-A-Holic fer sum fast food Chinese style. 2 dishes - fried rice or noodles & Chicken Teriyaki & spicy chicken w/green beans. We must of been hongry cause we scarfed up that food so fast & it shore was goood. Now let's be clear it ain't t no Michelin rated meal but 2 dishes & fried rice for $9.25 especially when UR hongry it shore did taste mighty good. Good service decent food and nice serving size for a good price. Efinn 'A'

If you're craving good shopping mall bourbon chicken, this place will not disappoint. I stopped here on a busy weekend before getting my hair cut at the salon in Woodfield Mall. Interestingly, during the late lunch hours, this place had one of the shortest lines compared to Chipotle, Burger King and Mod Pizza. I ordered a small bowl with bourbon chicken, noodles and veggies, just enough to keep me filled until dinner. Nothing out of the ordinary but as I walked up they were using the last of two popular chicken dishes and I was told it would be a 5 minute wait for more. I was in no rush and didn't mind waiting. The wait gave me a chance to observe the two young ladies working here on a busy afternoon. Despite the lunch crowd, these two gals were hustling the entire time and very calm and cordial. They were working really hard and taking time to smile, and thank customers after paying and getting our food. Wish I could remember their names, but they were great. Great value for the price too as they give you a lot of food. I couldn't even finish my bowl so I was glad I didn't get the plate. I am sure I'll return again sometime.

More than a food court takeaway. At peak times this place makes some mean chicken dishes. The grilled chicken is surprisingly flavorful. The char makes for some excellent smokiness. The orange chicken has a strong citrus taste with just the right kind of bite. The batter is reminiscent from Korean fried chicken. Lomain Noodles are just okay but the their curry noodles are perfect! Would come back.

the bourbon chicken is good but the serving size is small compared to other businesses for the price but it is a food court. half of the meat fell off the box when he was moving it and left it as is so i had to order extra

Similar to other fast-food Chinese food court options you'll find in other malls around America. The only thing that really stands out about this restaurant is that the decoration is a bit more classy, so that it does not resemble something from the 90's. Instead it has a nicely lit sign with large attractive wall painting -- with bright monitors to display food options and a well maintained area for viewing food choices. As usual, the amount of food you get for what you pay is better than almost any other option in a food court. The two item entree can easily feed two people and the items I tried were a bit better than average. The chow mein had a good noodle texture with a nice flavor of seared soy. The orange chicken was surprisingly crispy with a sauce that wasn't overpoweringly acidic or sweet. The bourbon chicken was tender and flavorful, with a slight sear. Once the dining pavilion adds a pho and poke bowl option, it'll be great to have choices of Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Hawaiian all at reasonable prices to enjoy during a visit to the mall.

Wok A Holic is a newly opened quick service spot in the Food Pavillion at Woodfield. It's serving up that mall court Chinese food we've come to know and love. I mean, is there anywhere outside of a mall that serves bourbon chicken?! Not even Panda Express dips in the 'bourb. And I do not mind that bourbon chicken at all. When I popped over for some eats, the person working was very bubbly and friendly, eager to assist. Prices are good, tons of food that looked as fresh as it could possibly be at a food court and the prices were good. I went with the orange chicken and bourbon chicken meal. Rice was cooked perfectly, bourbon chicken was on point, the orange chicken tasted a little too fake for my liking and left something to be desired. That being said, Wok A Holic is a cute little place and I wouldn't hesitate to grab food from there in the future.

Is it weird that I've only ever had Bourbon Chicken in mall food courts? When Woodfield first opened their food court, I was so excited to see Wok A Holic offered Bourbon Chicken. It's my go-to food court option and honestly goes hand in hand now with shopping at Woodfield! I usually order the two entree platter with rice and two entrees of Bourbon Chicken. This past time, the pieces of chicken were a bit larger than I would have liked, since they don't exactly give you 5 star cutlery in food courts, making it a little tougher to eat. However, it still tasted delicious. The rice was on par with the chicken. Hot, tasty and fresh! You get a lot, so there's a good chance you'll be bringing home leftovers! There are a lot of good options in the food court, but for me, this is it. It's a nice treat after a few hours of shopping. I'd recommend checking it out!

My wife, her mom, and I were in Chicago to remember my father-in-law's death anniversary, and my sister-in-law chose Chef Ping's, for our party of nine for a Wednesday lunch. Parking is plentiful and the dining area can seat a lot. We got seated at a large round table in the back room, with a large lazy susan (just need to remember to spin it very slowly). We ordered a lot, and the food came out slowly. There was plenty of leftovers for the local folks to have for future meal or two. 3 Shrimp Toast (6 pieces each) - $26.85 - greasy but good, with the shrimp paste being a little sweet (in a good way) Noodle in Black Bean Sauce ($12.50) - this is jja jang myeon, which two of us had the previous night. It was OK, not near the top of the best I've had. Ping's Noodle Soup ($15.50) - the other classic Chinese-Korean dish, this is jjampong, a dish I've had many times. I was the only one to eat it, so ended up being my main dish. It was good, with thick noodles...just wish it had more seafood. Salt & Pepper Smelt ($16.90) - not sure if always available, but this was excellent...my favorite dish and one that I finished once I realized that everybody had their fill. It really depends on the quality of the smelt, which was excellent in this case. It was lightly battered, and carefully deep fried. Other dishes enjoyed by others: 2 Salt & Pepper Prawns - $35.90 - large head-on shell-on prawns fire wokked. Salt & Pepper Tofu ($11.50) - for the vegetarians Chicken Skewers (4) - $8.75 - tender and shareable Walnut Shrimp ($19.90) - mayo with shrimp Young Chow Fried Rice ($12.50) - fried rice is a necessity for our group Mongolian Beef ($17.50) - a classic 2 Sesame Ball (4) - $7 - a great way to finish a meal. 18% tip was automatically added, and service was OK throughout. Our water was kept refilled, and I think hot water was as well. It was a good meal and opportunity to get back together

Both the service and quality of food has gone way down from what they were famous for. The waitress spilled my tea, also dipped her finger in my tea, had no apology or offer to exchange it with a fresh cup. I had to ask her for a fresh cup of tea. Then the other server that brought our entrees spilled my husbands tea and again no offering to getting a fresh cup. We had to ask AGAIN for a fresh cup! While the portions were generous, the quality of all the food has gone way down. The special family recipe of thier shrimp dish Gan Pong is nothing but fried shrimp with dried chili peppers and no flavor. The Hunan spicy beef and chicken appeared to be all globs and sticky because of excessive and over use of corn starch used during the cooking process. This dish didn't have any unique flavor that one would expect. Previously we had experienced a difference in the food, taste and quality and that's what kept us returning. Sadly, after this experience I wouldn't recommend it to anyone or come back! I'd rather stick with Yu's Mandarin than drive to this place! Quality always wins over quantity in my books!
