This is one of those small companies that gets all their business by word of mouth. I heard about them from a friend, she heard about them from her parents, her parents heard about them from their friends, etc. Leroy Woelfel is an expert in his field with integrity and craftsmanship. He will be the one that answers the phone.
We had an extensive remodel that included 1500 sq. ft. of wood and 4 bathroom re-tiles including showers, plus a kitchen back splash to go. We used engineered African Mahogany wood, porcelain, glass and ceramic tile of all different sizes, depths and textures. Leroy, his son and Jose did it all.
We did our homework on the wood prices and since Leroy was both the wholesaler and the installer, we did not have any markup for "liability" reasons. He was able to get the wood for us at his price and match everyone else on the labor cost because he would be the one re-installing it if anything went wrong. What's more, he never asked for a nickel until the whole project was done and we were completely satisfied. Even after getting his money, he has been back several times for minor touch-ups. He even bought me a wood mop and cleaner because I was worried about how to take care of it.
I cannot say enough about Jose and the tile installation. This man is a true craftsman. We could not find a pre-made mosaic listello that matched our color scheme, so we made it with individual tiles in 3 of the bathrooms-- a tile-layer's nightmare. He didn't bat an eye. He installed a brickwork pattern below the listello, a heringbone pattern above and it is all perfectly spaced like it came from the manufacturer that way. The other tile we picked had no bullnose and since it was through-porcelain, he hand-made bullnose with a grinder. Again, it is all gorgeously uniform with a very professional finished look. He also prevented a catastrophe when he pointed out that the bathtub support wouldn't even hold his tile, let alone the tub!
There were times when we had to wait on them in order to move on to the next part of the project, but it was not because they were not working diligently. A couple of times they were even there on a Sunday.
You will not get much design help with Leroy. If you are in need of color suggestions or what to choose, hire a designer/decorator, but when you're ready to purchase and install, Leroy and his crew cannot be beat. I will be calling him back when we have chosen our backsplash tile. read more
