I just liked the look of one solid piece. Finally after much convincing and showing her that the price would be less, my wife went for the idea too. My wife and I went to Modern Crete's showroom and looked over many colors and etchings with Stacy. We discussed doing a Yin Yang symbol in the entryway but ultimately decided against it. But it you wanted one, or anything else, Modern Crete can do it! They can even stain your floor blue! Looked beautiful. Like water! But we came away thinking we'd go for something more on the brownish side of the spectrum. We also learned there are different types of stains, but generally the acid stains work the best. The general consensus was that an overlay would work best of all to cover up our carpet tack holes (many people do leave these and stain different color borders), imperfections and such. Dan, the owner, and his top concrete specialist, Ben, came out personally to trowel on the overlay over 1400 sq ft. That was interesting to watch and a little tricky with the way our house is designed. It's very open, but the kitchen has two openings and the wall forms a sort of island. So two people have to be troweling at one time always keeping their edge of concrete wet. Finally they meet and pull it out the front door. By the end of the day it was dry! These guys are pros and pulled it off. Because of the way the stains react to overlays vs the original concrete, Ben recommended doing color test samples in the area where the stove would eventually sit after the overlay was complete. That's where we chose our final color out of a choice of four. Ben then sprayed the whole floor with the stain. Now my mistake was, after he did this, I brought my wife over to look at it. It's really not complete and doesn't look right until it's sealed. She sorta flipped out. Dan had to come over and try to explain the process again which he patiently did, I tried explaining, she just wasn't getting it. Finally I just begged her to look at it again after it was sealed. So that's the caveat here. Don't look at your floor until it is sealed! So Ben sealed it maybe up to four times in places where the overlay was completely absorbing the sealant. Each time the stain got a deeper and richer look. Oh by the way, there is a glossy seal and a satin seal. We went with glossy, but if you have pets and high traffic you may want satin. And is that seal ever stinky. It fumigated the house of bugs! Don't breathe it lest you be fumigated as well! The whole process took about a week to complete. And now the wife loves it. So does everyone who sees it. It needs to be waxed again and we haven't even moved in yet. That's pretty normal to do every month. And just an FYI, there is a waiting list typically for Modern Crete. We had to get on the schedule and it was about a 3 week wait. Even after we were pencilled in, people were calling wanting our spot! These guys are popular (they even did a certain celebrity's home recently) and well worth it. You don't want just anyone doing your floors! Can't believe I am the first to Yelp about this crew!

Absolutely recommended, I work from home and just left my door unlocked and my credit card on the table. I'd trust him in my house if I were away, no question. He went over every bit of his work in extreme detail starting from major fixes to observations. Very detail oriented. The best. I already had carpet and flooring picked out from another seller but my husband mentioned that Designer Floors nows sells countertops. Since we needed both new flooring and new countertops, we went to their showroom. I'm *really* glad we did. We ended up spending over ten thousand dollars and it was worth every penny. First, I loved all the selections that Designer Floors offered. Because of the layout of their store, I was able to see in bigger format how our carpet would match up with our other flooring, back splash and countertops. Second, Robert was super patient with me as I grilled him on everything they offered. He really had no problem with me going back and forth on a variety of options. He walked through them all and handled my questioning (read : pickiness) with professionalism, and I felt really confident about my choice by the end. I wanted to stay within a budget, but have really nice floors and countertops. We bought a house a few years ago and didn't install new flooring until the month before we sold it. This time, I wanted to do it right and *LIVE* in a house with beautiful flooring. I also needed the floors to withstand three kids and two big dogs. Lastly, install was great. Like even better than I expected. I was a little weary because we had an uneven foundation but when the installers came over they were able to level it back up. The first round was to lay carpet. Second round was to test our concrete before laying LVT flooring. Final round was LVT installation. While it was a fairly straightforward process, its still overwhelming when you first start out. Now that they were finished, our floors are awesome. We have a new kitchen island, with beautiful granite countertops. It looks amazing! A month later and I am giddy every time I come home and see my new house! Everything is sooo clean and easy to keep clean. I love that. Seriously, I can't say enough wonderful things about Designer Floors (and they sell countertops!!). They really made our remodeling experience so much easier and I am glad we used them.

Yesterday my 8 foot granite vanity countertop was installed in my upstairs masterbath room…read more The installers were very nice and curteous, removing their shoes as they entered my home. They used a vacuum to suck up granite dust as they were fine tuning the slab for the install. Trust me you want a company that does this. I have experience with a different company that did not do this and I still have stone dust stuck to my garage door and on my driveway. It took three guys to bring it upstairs, but as I watched the sweat on their brow while laboring to get it up the staircase and maneuver it around to fit through my 24 inch doorway, I couldn't help thinking they could have used one more guy. I videotaped them installing the slab, being ever so careful and breathless from the shear weight of the slab. Very well done. I have the utmost respect for anyone who does this on a daily basis. These guys were great in every respect. The slab I decided to purchase was a remnant with flaws. I stressed myself out so much about it and I probably stressed the staff at Top Surface as well. I am very pleased with how they were able to minimize the stress fracture. I mean what stress fracture...seriously almost invisible. The only reason I did not give a score of 5 is because this remnant piece cost around $300 more than another remnant piece that they gave me a bid on a few months earlier. My project wasn't ready at that time so I passed up on that remnant. I did not understand why their remnant pricing changed in such a short time. It was explained to me that the first remnant was one they had onsite already ...thus the great price. The second remnant had to be purchased from a granite yard down the street for a higher price. That makes sense. All in all the new price was still $400 to $600 less than other granite yards were selling their remnant pieces for. If you are looking for a good deal on remnants check out what they have onsite and if you find something that will work, they have the best prices on remnants than any other granite business I called and I called about a dozen. Shannon was great to work with as well as her other staff. I will do business with then again.
