When we first went to Designer Floors, I was honestly tired of looking but we hadn't picked everything out yet from anywhere else. I already had carpet and flooring picked out from another seller but my husband mentioned that Designer Floors nows sells countertops. Since we needed both new flooring and new countertops, we went to their showroom. I'm *really* glad we did. We ended up spending over ten thousand dollars and it was worth every penny. First, I loved all the selections that Designer Floors offered. Because of the layout of their store, I was able to see in bigger format how our carpet would match up with our other flooring, back splash and countertops. Second, Robert was super patient with me as I grilled him on everything they offered. He really had no problem with me going back and forth on a variety of options. He walked through them all and handled my questioning (read : pickiness) with professionalism, and I felt really confident about my choice by the end. I wanted to stay within a budget, but have really nice floors and countertops. We bought a house a few years ago and didn't install new flooring until the month before we sold it. This time, I wanted to do it right and *LIVE* in a house with beautiful flooring. I also needed the floors to withstand three kids and two big dogs. Lastly, install was great. Like even better than I expected. I was a little weary because we had an uneven foundation but when the installers came over they were able to level it back up. The first round was to lay carpet. Second round was to test our concrete before laying LVT flooring. Final round was LVT installation. While it was a fairly straightforward process, its still overwhelming when you first start out. Now that they were finished, our floors are awesome. We have a new kitchen island, with beautiful granite countertops. It looks amazing! A month later and I am giddy every time I come home and see my new house! Everything is sooo clean and easy to keep clean. I love that. Seriously, I can't say enough wonderful things about Designer Floors (and they sell countertops!!). They really made our remodeling experience so much easier and I am glad we used them. read more

Designer Floors is a great resource in Austin. Ask for Ron as he has helped me more than once and is a truly wonderful person. My first experience with this store was in 2004 when I needed to recarpet and entire house. I had a few quotes, but Ron was able to make me a better deal. The place still looks great 5 years later and I am very pleased with my investment. My second visit was in 2005 when I needed a custom rug created for my condo. Ron did a great job in selecting the materials and creating the perfect piece. I am still very pleased with that purchase as well. The showroom on 620 is very large and full of options for you to choose from. It may seem daunting at first but Ron will guide you. I cannot speak to the rest of the staff, but I believe the owner is named Mike if you prefer to deal with him. Everybody is super friendly and they offer you water or soft drinks while you are shopping. The in-home service experience I had with the first installation was excellent. The crew was supervised, they worked quickly and efficiently and they didn't damage anything which is a huge plus in my book! They finished on time and I did not need for them to come back for any repairs. The second purchase did not require any installation, but they delivered everything on time. Taking my review down a star.. The first job DFoT did for me was phenomenal, and it's based on that job that they keep the three stars. The latest two jobs have been a real hassle. 2-3 week late deliveries have cost me in laborers standing around with nothing to do. The other piece that is really getting to be the rule rather than the exception is the old "computer won't let me in" excuse. I go in on a weekend to find a bullnose to match and nobody working knows where anything is, can't get into a computer to lookup what I just ordered to match, etc. etc. etc.. Lots of computer issues. They have used it on my at least 10 times now. It usually comes with a "I'll call you back when I can get in" and of course there's no call back. I really hope whatever is going on is temporary because I have a good deal more flooring I need to do, but based on the last two experiences I'm going to be shopping around. Since most of the positive reviews seem to be old I would recommend caution if you use them. Make sure your stuff is ON your job site LONG before you book labor. Don't trust any 'estimates' or promises to call you when it gets in. I'm finding you will need to bug them extensively to get your stuff. I want things to turn around because I like them, but at the end of the day, time is money and you gotta deliver. read more

The facts are that I spent $56K on flooring and tile for my new home build on Lake Travis. I found that the staff was friendly and helpful in the showroom, but then the trouble started with installation. I asked to make a very minor change to the tile design in my master shower, really just adding a single row of accent tile to the existing rows of accent tile already designed and chosen. They came back with nearly $1K charge to tear out the tile and redesign the master shower-the problem was they had not even laid any tile in the master shower yet, so how could they justify this charge??? I called and they became very defensive and told me they had done me a favor already by not charging me for some mickey mouse design change charge. Are you kidding, I'm spending nearly $60k on tile and flooring and they want to nickel and dime you for work they didn't do. Then there is the quality of the workmanship-I was assured that the tile guys were professionals and did exceptional work. Save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere. read more

Just went in to make selections for gorgeous office countertops, laundry room countertop and shower ceiling. The woman who helped me was delightful but was rudely told by an owner/manager they won't do countertops. He was very rude to her and he didn't even acknowledge me only a few feet away. I will not go back into the store, there are plenty of tiles stores in Austin, especially ones who are polite to their employees and acknowledge their customers. read more

Went into this business looking for tile for a backsplash in my kitchen. I found a tile that I was interested in but it had no price attached. I asked the designer to research it and get back to me. A month goes by and no call, so I stopped in again and asked if they could get some information on that tile. A few weeks go by and again nothing. I guess they don't need my business. Beautiful selection of tiles, counter tops and flooring. However, they really struggle with communication. We picked some flooring, had someone come out and measure, and that was the end. After calling 3 times, and being treated with confusion each time, we decided to go elsewhere. I recently purchased materials and installation services for my kitchen (travertine tile and backsplash) and bathroom/laundry room (flooring/wall tile). I have been very pleased with all of the work. We worked with a knowledgable Rep, Scott Nelson. He was very responsive with daily questions/updates throughout the project and helpful in suggestions for materials, design, and options to help us stay within budget (suggesting overstock tile rather than something from the showroom was a great idea for the less important areas). The quality and professionalism of workmanship of the crew is high and I am very happy with how it has all turned out. They came back out to fix the 1-2 things that we identified during a final walkthrough to ensure we were happy. Giving 4 instead of 5 only because project went a little longer then anticipated (also scheduling was sometimes a little inconsistent) - but I realize this is the nature of the contracting business. Also future customers should carefully cover their cabinets to minimize grout/dust splatter as they were careful but some is unavoidable. read more

I am super impressed with this company. First off, hats off to Shaine Floodman who did an excellent job in assisting me regarding my hardwood floor choice. He knows his products, is patient and he responds very quickly to emails/texts. These qualities are so hard to find these days in the retail industry and are qualities that are certainly appreciated by me! The install supervisor and the install crew also did a great job on prep work, installing and cleaning up after themselves. The end result is absolutely beautiful! I want to add that I have previously done several projects with Pro Source Wholesale Floor Coverings and not only are Designer Floor's prices better, but their customer service is far better and I will certainly use this company again and refer them to others. A simple installation of white subway tile in a small bathroom has turned out to be the absolute worst experience imaginable. The installers have done a horrible job, they leave a mess every time they leave my house and they damaged a very expensive plumbing fixture. The cost of the tile was more than double what the cost was at 2 other places but my contractor told me we had to use them because they had installers. I expected good customer service and a good install but both have been beyond disappointing. read more

The selections are great. The employees are very helpful in the selection process. Unfortunately, working with them from that point was a nightmare. The installation date changed multiple times. They put the delay off on "their rep" and never took credit for any of the problems that arose. We were told one date multiple times, only to be called the day before our selections were supposed to go in and told it would be another week. An overall very frustrating experience. read more

On November 9, 2010, my new hardwood floors were installed throughout the house in most areas except the kitchen, breakfast and utility. Designer Floors of Texas made the sale and did the install and I am very pleased with the results. I did "shop" this installation around to various others and everyone was extremely nice. It did not come down to price, but all were competitive and very close. However, one of my requirements was that everyone working in my home be identified - meaning I get ID on everyone. Some installers balked ... guess why? Felony records! Designer Floors had no problem with this and worked with me all the way through. Their crew removed all the old hardwoods I had and installed the new in less than a week. I would highly recommend them again to anyone. Feel free to contact me regarding this. i purchased stone floors from this company for a large area in my house. the quality is so poor that the tiles are continually breaking and pitting. after a year the company did nothing except blame me for it. i have had several floor and refinishing people to look at it, and all say the same thing that this is very poor quality tile. i paid top dollar for this floor and am extremely disappointed. at this rate the floor will need to be completely replaced in a few years. this company is arrogant and refused to admit they sold me inferior product. i would never reccomend them nor use them again. read more

I have worked with Designer Floors in the past and experienced nothing but extreme professionalism and quality work. Thus, when I returned this spring to have them help with the total remodel of my master bathroom, I had expected to experience the same quality and professional work and assistance. Sadly, this has NOT been the case: first their designer quit just as the project was to begin even though she had worked with us for over six months preparing for the project. We were transferred to another designer that never complete his work, when the tile was ordered it was either incorrect, late, and according to them, lost by FEDEX. We finally had to have our contractor go over and find the missing box of tile sitting on their warehouse shelf ever since the job begin in early April! We even had to have our contractor go out and purchase materials to either correct their mistakes or to help speed the project along as we had workmen idling due to all Designer Floors hold ups. I would not recommend anyone using them unless you have a CERTIFIED CONTRACT( we had a signed contract that they seemed to never review) detailing that the designer will continue the project till completion and guaranteeing all materials will be delivered correctly and on time. read more

I love their tile and floring selection!. I just got the most amazing color story for my client's bathroom at a great price!. I also have to mention Rachel, one of their sales representatives. As an interior Designer, I have gone to pretty much all the Tile stores in the area and I am yet to find better selection and better customer service. Rachel politely helped me price all the things that I loved and also gave me enough space to look among their huge selection. At the right time, she came with a nice bottle of cold water and gave me a great spot to display all my choices. She was never rushed, she was very knowledgeable of all the travertine colors and other different materials. Go to this store and be amazed at what you can do!. Make sure you ask for Rachel. I know she will be great with you, as she was with me. I have been back to their showroom 3 times and she has been great, to the point of setting up all my choices two days later to show my client when she went in with me.
