First of all, most importantly, I have to say that WireTech Electric did an excellent job. I was having electrical fits and starts in one part of my condominium apartment. (Each unit has a separate electrical connection and meter.) Of course, I checked the circuit breaker for that area. It had not kicked off even though the problem persisted. I gave up and shut off the power to that area, the bedroom and bathroom. Next, based on prior reviews for WireTech, I gave them a call. They sent out their estimator the next day, who told me, not a big surprise, that because our building, and my unit's "power center" were 50 years old and sort of dangerously not up to code, they couldn't do the required work without replacing the entire power center (all the breakers and the box). He also gave me an estimate that was certainly more than I had imagined when I first called, but entirely reasonable once I understood the extent of the work that had to be done. It was a week before they could do the work, so I had to live that time without lights or outlets in the bedroom and bathroom. I managed. When the electrician arrived, on schedule and with all the required tools and equipment, he did the job very efficiently and in good spirits. All wrapped up and he was on his way. These reviews keep using the word "professional," and I agree with them. Olvin was the only electrician that got back to me immediately. He was straight forward about his services and pricing, which I appreciate. His quote was fair and competitive. When they came in to rewire and add a fan to my bathroom, they put down plastic, so none of the debris hit my carpet. Olvin and one of his assistants worked hard the whole time and did a great job. Super nice guys. I'm going to have him come back to do more work later in the year. He also made some excellent points about putting a massive chandelier in a tiny bathroom. I've done a lot of big home projects but a full house re-wire and new 200 amp box was one of the most intimidating as I really don't know much at all about electric wiring. I got extensive bids from highly rated companies and these guys came low-middle of the pack there. However, I choose Olvin because of the knowledge and expertise offered were customer centric. Olvin took the time to listen, assess, and ultimately walk me through his recommendations and the whys behind them. Not a lot of the other crews did that and I personally think it's critical when taking on a big project. Olvin is very professional and has very focus service. The thing we like about him is no BS , no up-selling and gives right advice. Our previous electrician screwed up the job and all of our outside outlets were non functioning. Olvin and his team inspected and gave us right suggestions, fixed and made it working! Exceptional Service. Amazing! I needed an Emergency Electrical Panel replacement in Oakland recently and this company was ready to help. A tree fell and took out the electric over the weekend. I called a number of electrical companies that advertised emergency services and Wire Tech was the only one who could give me information over the phone on the weekend. They were up front and communicative about every aspect of the complicated job of organizing PG&E and the city inspections and they got the job done as soon as possible. Since PG&E could not re-hook up the electricity during the entire one week process it was very appreciated. The price was reasonable, and they were extremely helpful talking to my insurance company. We initially received quotes from 4 companies, Wire Tech's proposal was not the cheapest one but we liked its thoroughness and also how Olvin was able to explain the jobs to be done. Do not recommend. I was working with Olvin on putting together a quote to install some brace kits and hang some fans. After supplying a quote, I indicated to Olvin I would like to just have the brace kits installed (as $195 / fan seemed very expensive and I have installed these exact fans many many times). Despite confirming over the phone this would be possible, Olvin cancelled on me at the last minute. Olvin cited "liability" as a reason he couldn't install just the brace kits. I offered to provide a letter of indemnification which was rejected. I cannot recommend this Company based upon their willingness to mislead customers. read more
