Incredibly, they were a no-show twice in a row, with basically zero proactive communication. Avoid. First, they messaged they could do the job a day after initial contact (Wednesday), gave me a time they'd be there, then simply never showed up. After messaging them about it, they said they forgot to schedule the actual appointment (!). Next, they scheduled an appointment for Thursday, when they showed up said they couldn't do the job as they didn't bring enough time and need additional components. Left again, rescheduled to Monday (!). And, lo and behold, no-show again on Monday. After 45 mins, I called their office and they simply said something got in the way and they can't help it. Honestly shockingly bad. Can't rate their actual service as I've never received it, just empty promises. read more

BV Electric responded back in less than 10 minutes with some appointment options, and I booked them right away. (They had done some other work in my condo a few years back and I was very pleased then as well). The two electricians arrived right on time and were very courteous, professional and respectful of our home. All the work was done perfectly and within less than 2 hours, at a rate that was much more reasonable than some other quotes received via the Yelp project / bid process. BV Electric is what I recommend to all my friends for their electrician needs. BV Electric able to update an old knob-and-tube electrical system to add additional outlets and lines despite being in a 2nd floor condo. Previously there was one two-prong outlet per bedroom, and the 1750sqft condo was on one line. With 4 people living in the condo, this was a disaster because it meant if someone was running the washer or dryer in one room, another person was playing video games or in a Zoom meeting, and a third person had the audacity to attempt to blow-dry their hair or vacuum, the entire condo would lose power and we'd have to navigate down the condo stairs in the dark and outside to reset the breaker. BV Electric put 4 new lines in and 8 or 9 outlets across 4 rooms (the living room and three of the bedrooms) for an affordable price. If we happen to trip a breaker now (which is very rare and our own fault for overloading with too much in one room), at least the entire house doesn't go dark and the Internet remains on as we keep it on a separate line with just the TV. This has saved us a ton of headache, not to mention helped our employment as we stopped spontaneously dropping off business Zoom calls due to losing power across the whole condo. read more

Electricians showed up at the scheduled time (both times - it was a two part job) and were all very nice and did an excellent job. They checked in at critical points and made sure things were going as I expected. They may be on the pricey side - hard to tell since they were the only ones I could even get a real response from. I contacted BV Electric after seeing their positive reviews on Yelp. I also noted that their office was close to the house. I reached out to them via Yelp and they responded promptly. They got me scheduled within two days. Their electrician team (led by Jaime) arrived on time (actually arrived early). I needed six old two prong outlets swapped out to three prong GFCI outlets (non-grounded). I opted to provide the new GFCI outlets and wall plates for them to use. They took care of the project in under an hour. They also cleaned up all areas where they worked. My project was neither overly complicated nor difficult (of course I was not going to mess with electrical at the house myself), but I am extremely satisfied with the work provided by BV Electric. I'm very disappointed with my experience with BV Electric. When they first came out, I was told they could not even estimate the cost of the project and that I needed to pay $700 upfront just to start a PG&E application in order for them to determine pricing. I agreed, assuming this was a necessary step. Once we later had clarity on the panel location and overall scope, BV provided a quote that was dramatically higher than other qualified electricians we consulted for the same work (it was double the price of any other quote). It was made clear, implicitly, that they did not actually want to take on the project, and the pricing reflected that. To make matters worse, I later learned that the PG&E application expires after two weeks, which made the paid application effectively useless. This was not explained at the time the $700 was collected. It felt like they stole my money. I don't mind paying fair prices or professional fees, but I do expect transparency. In my case, I paid hundreds of dollars and ended up with no usable work product and an inflated quote that felt designed to push me away rather than engage in good faith. read more

They are WAY OUT OF WHACK with pricing. UNREASONABLE! Get other estimates and consider using Thumbtack or Taskrabbit where you can get licensed people to do same work for much less. I want to give this company a good review but, in all honesty, this whole process has been very stressful and unpleasant. The scheduling was easy, and the electricians did the job They reattached two 12inx12in scones onto my living room wall. It was re-attaching a total of 4 wires The issue I had with them was with the billing. They quoted me a price of $169/hour. And they sent two electricians. Since I have never worked with them before, I decided it was wise to track their time. Good thing I did! They called me from outside my apartment at 12:19 asking if it was okay to park in the driveway. And when they left, I sent an email to myself to mark the time they left, it was 1:11. The next day, I received an invoice for $338!!!! WTF. What kind of shady business practice is this? What if they hadn't called before when they showed up? What if I didn't mark the time they left? I would be stuck with a bill for $338! Did the job require 2 people? Did I ask for two people? Was I told there would be two people? Reattaching two scones doesn't seem like a two-person job. So even though they did a good job, I can't recommend this business based on how the billing was handled. At the end of all this, I am the one who is made to feel like an asshole having to point this out to them. Just made the transaction very unpleasant. EDIT to respond to merchant comment: You did NOT give me a 50% discount. You charged me the WRONG amount and I had to call you out on it. Good thing I had proof otherwise I would have been stuck paying the INCORRECT amount. EDIT again 11/28: One the of the lights install DOES NOT TURN OFF. Wow, wow, wow. I LOVE BV ELECTRIC.There was this god awful loud hum in our bathroom that we couldn't figure out. Shut off the water. Turned off all the electrical breakers. It is still humming. Is it plumbing? Is it electrical? And it is late Wednesday and we leave early Tuesday. BV was so responsive and was kind enough to fit us in. Stefan and Carlos arrived, on time. They were assessing the puzzling situation logically. Pulled down the exhaust fan. Pulled down a canned light. Peering into the empty space. Where is that sound coming from? So competent as they explored options for a very loud humming sound that wasn't making much sense. In the end, they found it. Terrific personable, competent men. I have already recommended BV Electric to our building. We need honest businesses like this one that will do a variety of electrical work. I'm glad I called them. Unfortunately, we cannot in good conscience recommend BV Electric. They were hired to install a new 200 watt service line after the original service line broke. This was a fairly complex project. They were competent at completing the actual electrical work, but important coordination with PG&E, the city, and another contractor was poor at best. They were defensive/argumentative and we were forced to act as a facilitator on more than one occasion in order to move the project along. In addition, PG&E advised that BV did not follow proper guidelines for the project. Their inability to work cooperatively with these other entities, and to anticipate and respond promptly to issues and service requirements, resulted in the project taking 16 months to complete instead of the expected 6-12 months. Admittedly, our experience with such a situation is very limited, but we feel that the project could have been handled more effectively and expeditiously. read more

Late review but I scheduled an appointment in September of 2023 to troubleshoot my broken bathroom fan and they quoted me $169 per hour per electrician. I assumed one would come as it was just troubleshooting and not fixing anything but 2 arrived and I let them know I was quoted only for 1. They said it's a "law in California" to have 2 per job so I just agreed. I googled this "law" and it's an OSHA 2 worker rule BUT only for work on voltage more than 600 volts; a condo does not have more than 600 volts smh and the bathroom fan was 120volts. Feel like I got scammed because I'm young and a woman and agreed because I needed my fan fixed but they basically did nothing except confirm it was broken and charged me $350. Disappointed with BV electric--they came and fixed a few lights that weren't working in our place about a year and a half ago, and replaced a bathroom fan as well. The guys that came out and performed the service were wonderful, but the bathroom fan stopped working roughly 13 or 14 months after it was replaced. I emailed them to see if they could come and fix it and the lady I communicated with was not very warm and told us that we were out of luck because the warranty is only for one year. We didn't run it too much, it just stopped working one day not very long after it was installed. read more

After my futzing with some light switches, a circuit breaker stopped working in our place. I called BV electric and they quickly sent someone out. He came up with a stop-gap measure until a new circuit breaker can be acquired after much painful diagnosing by his part.
