Let me just say that we have been to Branson twice for probably a combined dining experience number…read moreof around 12 times and this blew everything so far out of the water, it should be in it's own league. The poutine was fabulous. The fry coating was crisp and tasty and the gravy was full of flavor. The Reuben sandwich is outstanding! The way they cut that corned beef was nothing short of magic. An egg on there? What? I've never heard of such a thing, but yes please. And I had the brûlée corn; which I may need to learn how to replicate because I've never seen this on any menu in Chicago, but it's too far to travel as often as I'll be thinking about that dish! The old fashions were smooth! Went with vanilla and loved the subtle flavors. Everyone was so nice and the atmosphere was a delightful mix of old school pub/English castle. All of it was just what I was hoping to find. Food off the beaten path that deserves a huge shout out. In a town of bland flavors, this place shines like a real gem!

Sat in a comfy table with a padded pew close to the bar with our backs to the wall, which instantly put my hyper vigilant husband at ease (IYKUK). Chatted a bit with our kind server who was also a millennial, how do I know this? The eye contact and lovely snarky conversation. My husband ordered his med rare, which probably came out more med and not enough pink for his liking. Correction on my part, I got the mahi mahi with parmesan grits and green beans and I didn't even need to look at my pictures to recall, it was that memorable of a meal. Being early January a parking spot nearby was an easy find, I imagine though finding one come spring will feel like a miracle. I'd love to stay at the attached hotel but found it's already booked a year out. Doesn't surprise me, the old English charm with its stone and dark wood is straight up story book.

Enter Hog House! The best. The service was superb. Kind, friendly, lovely. The food - the best homemade fries ever. And I am a fry snob. I had the grilled chicken and asked for pepperjack cheese, my husband the french dip, and our daughter the patty melt. None of us spoke while eating, it was soooo good! We talked about just going back daily to eat there during our entire stay It was an unassuming, simple piece of wonderful after a hectic long day and we loved it.

The Hog House is a small restaurant/bar, easy to get too with a friendly, helpful staff. The menu, while not extensive, offered a good variety of choices. So while our menu sampling was limited to a taco salad and a hamburger with fries, both were prepared perfectly and were very tasty. Also, the beer on tap was cold and fresh! This was an early dinner since we needed to make a 7:30 show in Branson. The Hog House delivered for us and I think they would do the same for anyone else as well. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed!

I'd say the best dish was the scallop appetizer which is served over a risotto - both are excellent and you could easily make a meal of it. But everything we ordered was really outstanding and the service was solicitous. Highly recommend just having a big dinner every day there and then just only lunch or breakfast there or in Branson and a lot of outdoor activities....

We arrived 10 minutes early for our reservations, the place was pretty empty however they still made us wait until 5 minutes after our reservation time. We had requested a window seat which quite a few were available and they tried to seat us elsewhere! Already I had a bad taste and I hadn't even sat down. After about 3 more minutes she seated us by the window. We were there for a friend's birthday celebration and wanted it to be special. Her husband told the server. My husband ordered the Worman's Manhattan. He really enjoyed the current infused rye whiskey in it. It added a very unique flavor to the drink. We were brought a complimentary chef's taste of a goat cheese on a small bagette and small glass of sparkling wine. My husband ordered the seafood pot pie and I had the French onion soup and winter spice cranberry salad. The soup was very good and flavorful but the salad was average and definitely not worth the price. My husband enjoyed the seafood pot pie. It was a very generous serving . He shared some with me. It was very rich and creamy. I didn't particularly like the mussels and clams still in their shells inside the" pie" however the pot pie is just pastry crust over a cast iron pan with the creamed sea food. After the meal we were given some stale macaroons with filling that tasted like frosting. There was No acknowledgement of my friend's birthday. We decided to walk down to see Harry's cocktail bar downstairs before calling our shuttle. The manager came into the bar in a bit of a hurried frenzy as we were walking out and asked if it was someone's birthday. We pointed to our friend and he told her happy birthday and then left?!?! Overall I was disappointed in the experience for the amount of money we spent.
