I recently had an amazing breakfast at Charlie's Café, and I just have to share! I went for the classic combo: scrambled eggs, crispy hash browns, and biscuits with gravy. The scrambled eggs were super fluffy, totally natural, and perfectly seasoned. The hash browns? Golden, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. And those biscuits with gravy? Sorry no pictures here, that was a great 30min spent! While on the road heading out of Lead Hill going to Missouri left early and hungry found this quick & tasty gem on maps and aside from the fact I didn't get a plastic knife to cut my pancakes with and no napkins in the bag I'm still giving them 5 stars for taste and fast service! Also something I noticed road tripping, there are still old school establishments using lard or spread... I wish they would offer the consumer a choice GMO or GMO lol Location is right off the main highway and it's a converted gas station with a few old iron tables & chairs outside, I didn't go inside my significant other says it was 'basic cafe setting' Great tasting Pancakes, delicious Bacon! On our way back from Harrison AR to Branson area and ran across this quaint little diner so, figured we'd stop in since it was supper time. Sat ourselves at a table and almost immediately were asked what we wanted to drink. Drink orders came and it was time to order. Hubs ordered 21 Fried Shrimp Dinner with Fried Mushrooms. Being a hard man to please he said he would go back again. I ordered Fried Pork Tenderloin Dinner, Mashed Potatos with white gravy, Turnip Greens and salad. The Pork Tenderloin was super moist, tender and fried just right and the Turnip Greens were seasoned very well. For desert hubs got Coconut Cream Pie and I the Strawberry Shortcake, both were a very ample serving and I have enough brought home for desert tomorrow night. If you find yourself in Omaha AR and hungry...stop in...you won't regret the decision. read more

This little place (emphasis little) is off the beaten path. We only went there due to the overcrowding in Branson and it was "on the way home" kinda. First it's cash only - be prepared. The breakfast was good. The meat filled omelet is substantial and comes with hash browns and toast or biscuit and gravy. The haystack has two huge hotcakes. I ordered the tenderloin breakfast. I'm guessing they had to substitute the breaded boneless pork chop for it. The coffee is pretty good and served in large mugs, a plus. Still, it seems to be a locals place. If your adventuresome swing by, they'll fill you up. read more

When we walked into the place, there's probably 20 other people in there which in the town of 169 people is a lot of the town. The food was really tasty. Get the hand breaded onion rings. The patty melt was delicious. But the big winner at this place, was definitely the pies. We got cherry à la mode and coconut cream. Both were absolutely phenomenal. If you like to eat in places that feel like your mom, grandma, or aunt are cooking for you then Charlie's Cafe is the place to go. It reminds me of the diners of the 1950's and 60's. Quaint. Simple. Comfortable. Friendly. Yummy food at very affordable prices. Payment by cash. I walked in the door and the owner and other customers said, hello with smiles on their faces. I was not treated like an out-of-town stranger at all. The atmosphere is very relaxed. It really feels like you're having a meal in the home of family and friends. I opted for the daily special which was an open-faced hot beef sandwich. The beef was so tender and tasty. The mashed potatoes and gravy were really good. It was a hearty helping so I took dessert; blackberry cobbler, to go. There is ample parking and outdoor dining. I didn't ask, but I'm sure carry-out is available as well. There are other things on the menu that I plan to try so I'll be making trips to Omaha more often. 10 scenic miles from Big Cedar just over the border into Arkansas. The bonus to Charlie's Cafe is it's family-owned. It's obvious this family has worked very hard to establish, build, and maintain this diner. I had the pleasure of watching two year old Mason carry silverware and napkins to a table of diners. If supporting a small business is a top priority when deciding where to spend your money, you'll leave Charlie's Cafe with a full tummy and a warm heart. read more

On recommendation from the young gal at Roberson's Farmers Market, we stopped here for lunch for local fare, after buying fresh produce (in particular AR black apples for making applesauce and apple butter). Busy inside at lunch, so we opted for outside tables (glorious Fall day in the AR Ozark Mtns). The owners/cook/mgmt. were wonderful taking care of *non-locals looking for some home-cooking. Old-fashioned favorites - patty melts, homecooked vegetable soup & chili, and onion rings - hit the spot! Desserts were the Bonus! Nice folks. This is a very nice laid back home style cafe with classic dishes such as Black Angus beef burgers cooked to your desire such as medium well. There is pop such as Mountain Dew, coffee, lemonade, and water. The burgers are my favorite, and they are succulent, delicious, and so full of flavor. The homemade recipe desserts are so sweet, yummy, and chocolatey! You ever want to find a local gem with true delicious cafe food, this restaurant is the place to stop. Talk about a small town with a hidden gem. Friendly, no-nonsense service. I had the chicken fried steak and it was so delicious. Also sampled the Twinkie cake which was also very good, and would've had more if I didn't feel so guilty. If you want fancy decor, this is not the place. Charlie's Cafe...I had to stop in and try it today. All of the folks were friendly. We were greeted upon entering by the waitress with a quick, Hello, and were told to sit wherever we'd like. The menu was simple and filled with country delights that would please anyone that would stop at a cafe in a town of 169 people. I had the patty melt and homemade onion rings...both were excellent. After talking with a local couple sitting at the next table, I've decided to try the fried chicken on my next trip in. Although, a quick scan of the fare on the other tables revealed burgers as the top choice, so I'll have to add a cheeseburger to the list. Overall, the place is not fancy at all, the other diners appeared to be locals, football was on the TV and the food was well prepared. You gotta just enjoy the place for what it is. A hidden gem. Small unpretentious diner type restaurant in Omaha AK with great home cooked food and very reasonable prices. We ordered the Fried Chicken Dinner, Pork Tenderloin Dinner and the Pork Tenderloin Sandwich with a side of Onion Rings. The dinners came with a simple but fresh and crispy lettuce salad, a vegetable and choice of potato. Oh, and a thick slice of delicious home baked garlic bread. Because the meals were large, we ordered Coconut Cream pie to go from the long list of homemade pies. No complaints about the meals or service! Charlie's is about 35 min. south of Branson, MS on old highway 65, off county highway 65. Our gps directions were not clear, but if you follow signs to Omaha, you can't miss it. My favorite breakfast from there is their biscuits and gravy, biscuits that melt in your mouth! My favorite dinner is their chicken fried steak, talk about delicious! I 100% recommend this cafe. Bland, nothing-fancy "Home Cooking" food typical for the area. Nothing you can't do at home at least as good or better. Nothing to get excited about. Recommend moving on to Branson or Springfield if you want something remarkable. Too far off the beaten path considering the quality. Service is ok, I've seen better. read more
