The halloween-themed Pacifica Rock n Roll Flea Market this past Sunday featured live music which was super loud but super good! Surf Monster, Insect Surfers, Douglas Von Irvin's Carnival, The Freak Accident... all of the bands were amazing! Lots of awesome surf music and rock tunes, and more importantly a decent sound system. Great atmosphere, the tavern walls and ceiling covered with colorful surfboards, skateboards, a skate bike (unicycle with skateboard rear wheels), stickers, posters, customized license plates, and a bit of halloween decor for this special event. A pool table, shuffleboard, and pinball machines in the back as well. We had no problems finding seating inside, with a good view of the stage, even with a growing crowd. More tables and seating were available outside, with a flea market set up in the outdoor area in the back, vendors selling all kinds of merchandise including cute purses and customized lamps, and a boatload of record stands too. The bar staff provided helpful and sufficient service. I enjoyed the alpha acid west coast IPA, though there were plenty of beer options to choose from on the menu. There was also a food truck out front, so we had a bite to eat from Satay By The Bay while enjoying our time at Winters Tavern.

Serving Pliny the Younger during a blackout? Five stars! $10 pours. The power cost me an ice cold beer, but 2025's version is delicious, and I didn't need to stand in line for hours to get to try it. Props to the band as well!

Don't find these classic old-school taverns around anymore. It is a divey bar so expect strong drinks, lots of memorabilia and time worn interior. What they have is live music from eclectic local bands. With that, the crowd is a mix of college to senior crowd. The senior crowd actually got quite raucous, almost creating a mosh pit! The young gentleman working the bar kept the drinks flowing and made them strong as I requested. **They have a great set of rotating local beers on tap** In and outdoor seating. There was a lot of toilet paper rolls in the bathroom that I appreciate. The sink had warm water and soap! I appreciate that, too!

Fellow musicians - avoid this guy if you can when dealing with band comps and payout, or risk verbal disrespect without warrant.

Played a gig at Winters Tavern this afternoon. Some conditions of the payout changed without communication. When I brought this up to the fellow who paid us he shrugged us off and told us to take it up with CJ, the booker/manager/owner(?). Fair enough, and I suppose our fault for not confirming details since the last gig. We were not pleased, but we accepted our defeat. Then as we're walking out the door, he calls out to us loudly for the whole bar to hear, "and if you don't like it, get the fuck out!" Literally, verbatim, this is what he said to us. This was after we entertained their patrons for almost 2 1/2 hours for a measly $26.50 per band member. Clearly, we're not in this for the pay. The vibes have always been good at Winter's and that's why we have returned year after year, but to be spoken to like this...it was beyond disrespectful. Please believe I responded to him...ahem...appropriately... Still the whole interaction was awful. Sullied what was a pretty fun gig. Bottom line - I will never return, neither to play a gig or as a patron.

Dropped by last Saturday night and it was a lot of fun. It's what a Tavern should be, happy people, drinking and enjoying the music. I had one of their delicious hot steak sandwiches that were being grilled outside. The two young guys who opened up for another band were having a great time jamming and playing their guitars. No pretentiousness, put a smile on my face!

I'm sure this will be considered total sacrilege by many Pacificans but... Friends and I finally went to Winters to see an advertised show ($10 cover). The show was supposed to start at 8:00pm. It did not start until 10:00pm. Yes, there was free popcorn and decent drinks to keep us occupied. The DJ/mc-ish/Paul Schaffer type to the non-existent show, running his music to stall was inept. It was bad. He continued to play loud, crap music OVER the CD music playing throughout the bar (note: the CD mix was pretty good). One of my friend's was frustrated and went to ask how long the wait was going to be. Every 15 minutes, we were told it was another 4-5 minutes. At one point, we took out our iphones and starting counting the minutes. (Don't judge, it was a two hour wait time -- there's only so much angry birds time people can play). Don't tell me about all the cool pool tables in the back because they were closed up due to the special show. I could see them but not play. The show was train wreck. Just bad. I'm not sure if they were missing performers or what. Maybe it would have been better to go when it was a band playing or the karaoke night I've heard about. The show was awful in one of those "I feel sorry for the performers". My poor friend who had set-up the evening felt bad for picking Winter's. It was all we could do not to ask for the cover back. The positives: Easy to find (right next to the freeway), plenty of parking, bartender was nice, decent drinks, bathrooms were clean, the building structure itself is a nice throw back to an older Pacifica without looking rundown. read more

Somehow we ended up here after a few games at Sea Bowl. And I must admit that I was a bit skeptical, but Winters Tavern delivered in terms of good service, good games for drunk people, and a congenial atmosphere. We didn't see any live music that night, so we made our own thanks to "Shorty's Karaoke by the Sea". (Shorty himself sang us a fine tune.) Or if you're not into singing, then there are plenty of televisions to keep even the avid sports fan preoccupied. The Winters Tavern special is a "pint of ice cold Pabst, a hot dog, and chips for $3.50". Be sure to check out Winters if you're thirsty in Pacifica or you just want to get down with Shorty. read more

This place is probably the best bar in Pacifica. Nice bar, friendly staff, great prices and a shuffleboard, pool table and dart board along with TV's showing the latest sports events makes it kind of have the feel of a sports bar to me. After 9 PM they frequently have live music too which I have never seen them charge cover for. The bar is very busy on Friday and Saturday nights but when it's not busy it has an intimate feel and I get the impression most are regulars who know the bartenders. Despite the initial biker bar feel this place has sometimes, everyone is friendly and very laid back. read more

When I first arrived at this bar, I was a little apprehensive. The outside is a little sketchy. However, once I stepped inside, I got a really chill vibe. I came on a Sunday so it was really slow and there weren't that many people, but I do plan on coming back at some point. They have a pool table and a shuffleboard table which is always fun when you're getting your drink on. Bartender was awesome. She hooked it up. read more

Saw OWL and Heavy Action here. A very fitting venue for stoner and metal music. The sound sucked, but it only added to the atmosphere of mayhem. Not a bad selection of draft beers for a dive. Nothing too crafty, but there's Lagunitas, so I was happy. The bartender seemed like a nice guy, too. Overall, not a bad place to spend you Friday or Saturday night. read more

We drove out from Brentwood to beat the heat last weekend and simply stopped in for a drink so we could use the bathroom....well that one drink turned into a couple hours of fun at this fantastic little "Dive" bar! We absolutely loved the atmosphere and the patrons as well as the bartender Tulah were amazing! We chatted with a few locals and played a game of shuffle board. My favorite part of my whole drunk-on at Winters was the barfly who showed me a fried chicharron with pig hair still on it. Seriously, about eight stiff pig hairs on the end of that thing. Fucking cool. I can't lie--this is my bar! Winters I love you! P.S. Clientele super friendly--lots of 80s metal playing on jukebox. read more

WHO THE FUCK WORKED THIS LAST TUESDAY Dec 13th??!!! I really like this bar and the music that comes through here. I mainly go out in SF, but I live in Pacifica so yeah, music here/ good beer. And usually good service... She 1) Purposely tried not to serve me (I don't know why, because I'm female? Because she's assumes I won't tip well? usually tip 20% min because I am a waitress myself). 2) Was just a bitch. I was nothing but polite, but she either was deaf (I doubt) or 3) was trying to spite me for no reason (ex: you want this beer? no the other I said/ what did you want? Ummm I haven't even ordered yet Keep open? No close out...but she never gives card back) I still left $1 tip, but all she did all night was tell people how she had a better job in El Granada, down Highway one. I try to talk to her but she pretended like she didn't hear me. I guess she thinks she is too good, but I have had nothing but good service here before. So this bitch got to go, permanent!!! read more

I have to say for any dive bar I've ever been in this bar is where it's at. Take the good with the bad folks! The area is a quiet one, but the police patrol is constant...so gotta drink responsibly. Otherwise, the staff rocks, the people are fun and there is always something going on! Even on the holidays! If I didn't live in the city, this would be my ideal location to chill. If first impressions are important come with an open mind to have a good time, and leave park your drama at home. Definitely this place has something for those who like to have a good time and drink! If you're out of the city and in Pacifica, Winters Tavern is THE place to go!!! read more

Went to support my friend who was opening for another group. Friend was supposed to go on at a certain time and was told that another band was given the same time to go on. Then I had trouble getting the bar tender to serve me. Once he came over I asked for a bloody mary....he got an attitude and said: "you want me to make a bloody mary at this hour?".......with attitude......yuck to the service worker behind the bar... read more

Horrible customer service. Made the trip down for the agent orange show. No where on the website could you buy tickets, and it was not listed as sold out. It was sold out (I checked from my car still not listed that way) and got no response on where I was supposed to but a ticket? thanks for nothing, and I wont be back read more

One of the best tap list south of the city and truly unique spot. They have really good live music as well. I'm a local and love when I have the chance to sneak over here for a pint or two. Always a fun time and the staff is always great. Highly recommended. read more

Just experienced one of the BEST shows EVER at Winters...Agent Orange with The Sea Men, The Swells and Jello Biafra spinning in between sets! Bought tickets in advance because knew this show would sell out (and it did, which was easy to see on the facebook event page) and duh, it's AGENT ORANGE, who didn't disappoint one bit with their killer blend of surf and punk. Jello joined 'em for a song and the pit was non-stop slammin', even the owner CJ got in on the action! If you've never been to Winters, you owe it to yourself to catch a show there when DJ Sid Presley is spinning (or Jello!) with some cool surf band or French pop outfit. Plus, as they say, "no crap on tap" in the beer department and the coolest club vibe on the coast. Thanks again for an awesome show with Agent Orange!!! read more

why did i end up at winters? so my friends and i were leaving this korean bar in sf, and we pass the irish bar. asked a guy if the bar was happening [it was a wed night]... i dont remember what he said. but basically it led up to him saying he was a bartender in pacifica. two of my friends are from pacifica. so there's a bunch of cheering. then the guy says we should check out his bar in pacifica. so we do. i like the local feel to the place. apparently thursday is not a happening night compared to other nights. but its what you make of it. and we had fun. the bartender drank with us throughout the night. played with the jukebox, though it does need to be a bit updated. it's a pretty spacious place. there were pool tables [i think], this long table where you slide things across [i have no clue], and apparently a stage for karaoke night and live bands... and they do beer pong tournaments. i'll have to go back for that. overall, seems like a fun place. read more

Awesome bartenders. Friendly people. Very casual and everyone knows your name! Plenty of regulars who meet up with friends as a staple hangout. Karaoke on Wed and Sunday nights. Beer pong on Tuesdays. Live bands, random Burlesque shows. I love Winter's! read more

Pacifica Local bar. And it's awesome! Great selection of beer on tap. Great place to come to watch a game on the weekend. But above and beyond, get down here to have some fun listening to some live music and shoot some pool. Always be nice and grateful to your bartender, and they'll take care of you. I just moved here, and the people here couldn't have been more welcoming. read more

Badass cozy little dive bar with craft beer on draft and live music. Friendly staff, cool people, pool table, shuffle board, fooze ball, free popcorn, and sometimes even free hot dogs and raviolis! Super easy to Uber from the city, and a block from the beach. I'm not quite sure what more one could ask for in a bar. read more

My favorite watering hole! They have such a plethora of venues from rock, reggae, country to jazz. Always enjoyable may it be a band entertaining or a good game of shuffle board. They have something going every night. The staff is always friendly and attentive. Never a dull moment with pletny of smiling face to stike up good conversation with. Slainte! read more

Best bar on the coast! Since the Inn in HMB closed this place is the best. Shuffle board, stiff drinks, and some great people watching. Check it out if your're in P-ville. read more

This is a great dive bar just a few blocks from the beach off of Hwy. 1. Decent drinks, lots of beer, pool, darts and tables and chairs and shuffleboard. A big group of us went this past Saturday night to hear live music (great band called Wall o Ballz) and the sound was actually really good. I'd definitely go back to check out live music. It's only about a 15-20 min drive from SF. read more

Perhaps the most enjoyable bar in Pacfica. Winters has a seedy roadhouse feel that you either immediately love or hate. The weekends can be hit or miss, varying between jukebox fare, karaoke, or cover bands. Good beer and booze selections, bartenders with plenty of attitude, and plenty of local drunks for color. read more

Your local dive bar. This is a bar that you would see in a horror film. It's cool though. Drinks are inexpensive and the music can be good at times. In the parking area you can find the locals smoking and engaging in other activities!! The bathroom is the worst. First off, I can't even stretch my legs. I am faced to face with a condom dispenser. Sometimes the toilet does not flush. But, I can always go to my buddies house that is down the street. The live performances held here are always rocking. I have had the opportunity of getting to see my friend's band play. Overall, great experiences here. Do not let the outside of this place or the crowd stir you away from here. Come here and enjoy yourself on a Friday or Saturday. read more

Loving the new management - they've turned this spot into a great little neighborhood bar offering a huge selection of craft brews on tap and a range of live music from bluegrass to metal (often with no cover = extra star), the crowd changes accordingly so... there's that. There's always room to dance, a pool table & shuffleboard. Definitely a dive, but a dive with personality. read more

Featuring all types of original music from national and international touring bands to local Bay Area talent ranging from bluegrass to metal, jazz to hardcore punk, surf to garage and beyond. We specialize in fresh, local and west coast real micro brews. NO CRAP ON TAP. 16 continually rotating taps. We also offer a FULL BAR with an extensive collection of fine liquor from traditional to local craft sprits and a kick ass cocktail menu. We are proud to consider ourselves a classy dive bar with good service, great product and outstanding live music!

History

Established in 1906.

Our nearly 110 year old building has been in business as a store, restaurant and bar for most of it's life. Having been physically moved from the beach to it's current location back in the 60's, it has multiple historical significance. Dating back to pre-prohibition, the building has played a big part in Pacifica's exciting history of bootlegging, prostitution and smuggling! The Winters Family brought their name to it, that we still proudly use today. In fact, many people have claimed to have seen Old Man Winters Ghost roaming about the room at odd hours...Since April 2013, the new ownership has worked very hard to continue on with the legacy and restore that genuine feeling of yesteryear. The BBQ platter is amazing! The pork ribs just fell off the bone. So juicy, tender, and tasty. I was hesitant with the pork loin but it was delicious and tender. The dino rib did not disappoint either. I really loved the chili with a nice balance of salty sweet. Yes the pizza was hella good. The cheese pull was insane and had a nice crust from the fire. My daughter enjoyed the pizza and the pork ribs. She gave them a thumbs up. Kid friendly atmosphere because they did not get annoyed with her playing hopscotch and dancing. I left feeling better and full. Just an FYI they serve beer, wine, and soju.

This was mid-day on a Sunday when it used to be a hopping time for them. Granted, it was between Christmas and New Year's, but I suspect another part of it is that they no longer serve breakfast. Their breakfasts were hearty and delicious and a big weekend draw; sadly, the breakfast chef (I think he may have been one of the owners or the father of the current owner) passed away two years ago and breakfast was taken off the menu. I gave two stars because my sandwich and fries were still good, but I highly doubt I'll be back, ever. There doesn't seem to be any effort at all to create an inviting or even clean atmosphere. I remember being surrounded by other diners and hearing the happy chatter of families celebrating birthdays. Is it different at dinnertime? Possibly, but I just can't see how.

Zero stars all around, and I have given them a chance to reach themselves. The only winter Tavern is the buck or Tavern in winners California a legendary place. I just lucky enough to be taken to as a child by my father and my mother. Here's the context Slipped and fell and got my third concussion back in November. My credit card was stolen. I will remind you, however that I wish my relationship with Yelp to be the best possible. I appreciate them support. I respect them. Here's the context. The stolen credit card in the vault that is not returned at the winners. Tavern is contextually fraud Steve and it's fraud and at least other things, that federal punishment. said do not support this establishment as it's just so sad. They show the true colors. On the sidewalk it's not up to the rain when you're exercising and sober and then being blamed for being drunk getting your credit cards stolen and still hasn't returned being charged $500 in fees, yup if you need to take this down, I totally understand but this is as important and winner. Tavern is a dangerous place to be. To the youth please don't be the dangerous place to the elderly please this place is dangerously slippery, obviously and on and on and on. The owner is just a preposterous person. Tried to be friends. Bottom line is Yelp. Went for comedy night. Nasty gross men talking about women's holes and rape jokes. Who would think in this day and age women would be treated so badly. Degrading. Shocking. Dehumanizing. At first I thought it was a gay bar because it was all men and no women. Then you realize they are just a group of angry maladjusted (mainly white) men on the special side of the emotionally intelligence spectrum. A true diamond in the rough!!! This local "dive bar" is far from that. With great prices and free live music, this is a must stop on any Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Most importantly, the bartender (Ryan) on Friday and Saturdays is the greatest!!!! Talk about the greatest shots known to man or woman and funny too. For those who have not been, Winters is a converted barn from the 1890's with that special road house ambiance I pine for from my underage drinking days in the wilds of rural New Jersey. Minus however, scary country thugs looking to make entertainment out of then skinny hippy boys. This place is depressing, dirty and just not a good time. Between the drunks, teens and coke heads hanging out ouside the bar, it's just really no where to spend the night.
