How this bar doesn't have 5 stars across the board is beyond me. Pool table? Check! Free popcorn? Check! Variety of beers & liquors? Check! Occasional food trucks? Check! Live music & comedy/trivia? Check!! I'd say 90% of the bartenders here are chill & interesting folks. They definitely know how to read your energy whether you'll be a chatty Kathy or a somber Sally. I've always had a good time coming here! In a small town with 3 bars total, Winter's is the best place to run into your neighbors most days of the week. The bartenders are no nonsense typical dive bar vibe, which is not a bad thing by any regards and Erin makes the best martini in the Bay. Thursday nights are comedy night....good luck. Not a place you go at night to have a conversation, Music is LOUD, so bring earplugs or plan to sit outside (which isn't always the most enjoyable in cold/wet Pacifica). Most weekends they have a few food trucks to count on for snacking. All that to say, I love our local dive bar for everything that it is and everything that it is not. read more

The halloween-themed Pacifica Rock n Roll Flea Market this past Sunday featured live music which was super loud but super good! Surf Monster, Insect Surfers, Douglas Von Irvin's Carnival, The Freak Accident... all of the bands were amazing! Lots of awesome surf music and rock tunes, and more importantly a decent sound system. Great atmosphere, the tavern walls and ceiling covered with colorful surfboards, skateboards, a skate bike (unicycle with skateboard rear wheels), stickers, posters, customized license plates, and a bit of halloween decor for this special event. A pool table, shuffleboard, and pinball machines in the back as well. We had no problems finding seating inside, with a good view of the stage, even with a growing crowd. More tables and seating were available outside, with a flea market set up in the outdoor area in the back, vendors selling all kinds of merchandise including cute purses and customized lamps, and a boatload of record stands too. The bar staff provided helpful and sufficient service. I enjoyed the alpha acid west coast IPA, though there were plenty of beer options to choose from on the menu. There was also a food truck out front, so we had a bite to eat from Satay By The Bay while enjoying our time at Winters Tavern. read more

Great micro brewery, beers selection! Definitely a positive vibe when we go to see Grateful Dead music played by awesome local musicians.

I witnessed a male singer of a band put a young woman in a very uncomfortable situation, and the staff at the bar completely disregarded how she felt. They kept saying he could do whatever he wanted because he was a "performer." This place has a very toxic and male-dominant atmosphere. The staff is more concerned about live music than safety. A young woman should be able to feel safe and respected, and when she tried to tell staff what happened to her, she was ignored. I DO NOT RECOMMEND going here at all. The staff is horrible, and the owner is oblivious to everything that's going on. It's a terrible place. read more

a belated review to one of the best bars down this side of the Peninsula...and it's unmatched in its vibe. beer selection is diverse and a sign they proudly post that reads 'no crap on tap' is highly accurate. lots of local brands like Standard Deviant, Pliny, Ghost Town, etc. stand out with a pretty full bar of every thing else. I was aware of the stage inside the bar but was totally unaware of the sizable beer garden in the back where a considerably bigger stage seems to be open for weekends. bartenders are pretty cool and down to earth and pets are welcome. completely unpretentious and a local favorite. read more

Thanks for bringing rad music to Pacifica! This is the spot if you like live music on the coast. They bring in a lot of up and coming acts and are the only spot I know of on the coast to see punk music on a regular basis. They feature tons of other types of music too. Don't find these classic old-school taverns around anymore. It is a divey bar so expect strong drinks, lots of memorabilia and time worn interior. What they have is live music from eclectic local bands. With that, the crowd is a mix of college to senior crowd. The senior crowd actually got quite raucous, almost creating a mosh pit! The young gentleman working the bar kept the drinks flowing and made them strong as I requested. **They have a great set of rotating local beers on tap** In and outdoor seating. There was a lot of toilet paper rolls in the bathroom that I appreciate. The sink had warm water and soap! I appreciate that, too! read more

My kind of bar -- no fuss local neighborhood dive with live music, great beers on tap, they make a strong Crown and ginger too =). Patrons are salt of the earth folks ranging from college age to retirees. The energy here is a place to come to be around people, strong drinks, live music, and just to get out of the house. Backyard was impressive -- plenty of picnic tables and sitting with string lights and food stand. Can't find cool bars like this these days. Came in to have a beer. Bartender saw me and ignored me while trying to fidget with his music for the bar. Then helped the new people who just came in. He's obviously drunk and I left immediately. Played a gig at Winters Tavern this afternoon. Some conditions of the payout changed without communication. When I brought this up to the fellow who paid us he shrugged us off and told us to take it up with CJ, the booker/manager/owner(?). Fair enough, and I suppose our fault for not confirming details since the last gig. We were not pleased, but we accepted our defeat. Then as we're walking out the door, he calls out to us loudly for the whole bar to hear, "and if you don't like it, get the fuck out!" Literally, verbatim, this is what he said to us. This was after we entertained their patrons for almost 2 1/2 hours for a measly $26.50 per band member. Clearly, we're not in this for the pay. The vibes have always been good at Winter's and that's why we have returned year after year, but to be spoken to like this...it was beyond disrespectful. Please believe I responded to him...ahem...appropriately... Still the whole interaction was awful. Sullied what was a pretty fun gig. Bottom line - I will never return, neither to play a gig or as a patron. read more

This is the most sad attempt at a dive bar I have ever witnessed -- looks like a dive bar, acts as if it's the ritz Carlton. The owners "friend" told me to "gtfo" over being upset over a pool game (racially charged which says a lot about the owners friend group), a shot of well bourbon was $10, the pool table costs $3, the live music is kids just hitting any note they can find, the atmosphere looks like they are trying for a Seattle grunge look but holly f be prepared to pay like you are at a 5 star restaurant/bar. The staff was extraordinary I don't want to leave that out. Terrible management and crowd however. Very ignorant (racist) patrons and apparently owners as well as i understand. Would pay money to not have to go back here as a black man. Good riddance. read more

The world was sad on a foggy Wednesday in Pacifica. Then I spied Dave unloading his van (not that van, sadly), and all was right with the world. Despite my sad fogginess in a cold beach parking lot. Despite too-hot Thai food that remained too hot too long and further ruined my sad parking-lot experience. Despite it all. The Black Hearththrobs played a song about someone I went to high school with. Dave apologized onstage afterward to Dan and me, because he didn't want us to think that either of us were the sad soul mentioned in the song. But I knew that soul because I was in a different class with him freshman year, before he left school without warning. Dave knew him freshman year too, but in a different class, and I'm not sure whether I knew Dave at the beginning of freshman year, but I did know this person, the person the song is about. Yes. It was a really nice set. Dave is so easy. Easier than Sunday morning, although I'm sure he's just making it look that way and that it was quite difficult. Still, he took the time to talk to me for a long time and to thank me onstage the following night in San Francisco, and I appreciate him for that, but I love him for so many other things. I don't know whether he remembers that we played pool when we were in college in L.A. (he at UCLA, I at LMU), and he told me all about the yoga he was getting into. And he's still into it, so I can trace, at least vaguely, the timeline of his yoga studies. The bar is an old-school place. It deserves to be filled with way more people, but the few who were here on that sad foggy Wednesday night were an interesting bunch. I'd say more, but I want to hold it in my memory and the shared memory of the people who were there, including the drunk girls making out on the dance floor while the Black Heartthrobs played "Happy Birthday to You" to one of those girls. I'll have to check out the pinball collection in the future. I have no idea why this bar is where it is, but it can only be here, strangely. Even if it fit better somewhere else, it would probably go out of business, because fitting in requires measuring up, at least when it comes to doing business or at least breaking even. Went here for a live music show. The vibes are really cool here. The exterior reminds me of something out of Twlight, like Forks which felt so nostalgic. I love the neon sign outside, and finding parking was fairly easy -- just street parking. There were some places to eat around in the area as well . Upon entering, the place is pretty intimate. You have the general dance floor/bar area, there is billiards in the back, as well as an outdoor area. The workers here were super friendly. It was a Halloween event when I came so everyone was dressed up in their costumes, especially the bartenders. They had a costume contest and many people participated, it made it such a fun little event. Also, the bathrooms here are pretty clean which is always a plus when it comes to bars and smaller venues like this! If I was in the area and looking for a quick little drink or vibes, I would come here again! read more

I tried this sour cider as I enjoyed the welcoming vibe the blackberry I believe and it's was hella good. They have some great hops here . The guava cider was pretty good too. I came here once just because I happened to be in the area then I looked I came another time and my experience here just gets better and better. I love the vending machines in the bathroom. Please never get rid of them. They have free popcorn. They also have pinball. The Iron Maiden pinball is awesome. I am a big maiden fan as of not long ago. The staff here is great. I've really realized how important great customer service is in bars and this place fits the greatness. The parking is great. They have a parking lot in back. As Tina Turner once sang 'You're Simply the Best.' First off - Popcorn. Buttery, salty, delightful. Secondly - beer. There's a bunch of healthy options on tap. Lighter lagers to dark stouts. CLEAN TAPS. Do you like music? Live bands every night (and some days, too). Open mics for musicians AND comedians. Is there anything these folks haven't thought of? My back doesn't hurt sitting on these stools. The sound system is righteous, and sound reinforcement means even a metal or mariachi band has the right mojo for an appreciative, attractive audience. If you're ugly, this is not the place for you. There is a *high bar* on sexy. Believe it. During better weather, the expansive beer garden often hosts pop up food trucks and outdoor music. Festivals have vendors with incredible offerings like bongs, essential oils, found art, upcycled metals, and vinyl records. There's a pool table, and pinball machines in case you, like me, enjoy fiddly, hand-worked analog entertainment. I've forgotten a night or two here, and it's been totally worth it, at least what I think I recall. Bathrooms are huge. Plenty of room to regret your choices should you pump the brakes after one too many shots. All in all, it's a warm, welcoming, chill establishment. But if you see a squirrel hoarding some stray popcorn in the parking lot for his winter stash, it's ok to say hello - just don't touch his nuts. read more

Came in here to have a beer and the vibe was really awkward. Got our first round and the bartender was really weird and grabbed my friends arm. No context, no words just grabbed his arm from over the bar. We were so confused and looked at him and he just gave a thumbs up. You pushed (layed hands on/assaulted) the "biker chick." You are lucky she didn't call the cops and press charges right then...She was just having fun dancing. You were playing shuffleboard, your paths crossed, it happens. It sucks that she got too close to you but that happens at bars and especially at live music venues when you are next to the dance floor.As far as the bartenders there that night, they are always caring and want EVERYONE to feel welcome. Me and my boyfriend went to get a drink to listen to the live music, the blonde lady was nice and gave us it, went to get another drink and then ask the brunette lady with tattoos, said she didn't work there... then why are you behind the bar, I can see you giving drinks to other people?? She was servicing everyone else around us??? 30 minutes later, the blonde lady came back and said she'd help us but never came back? The live music was nice and the crowd seemed cool. *HATE INCIDENT occurred and then reported to police 1/14/23 ~ 10:50pm: Summary: I was harassed and racially targeted by a patron (blonde "biker chick" as noted by the bar back), and then shortly after by the head bartender, when I was minding my own business with my partner and after reporting it to bar management in real time, the head bartender (named Christina I think, she was blonde wearing a black beanie, around 10:50pm) went out of her way to confront me after I had already exited the building with my partner upon reporting the issue, and became loud/rude/dismissive/defensive in the street and yelled at me "if you were going to use the RACE CARD, at least tell me what happened" which I was literally trying to but she kept interrupting me and got extremely defensive, and screamed "BITCH" at me after a few minutes of not listening and told me "don't bother ever coming back, you're not welcome here!" when I tried to explain to her what happened. So read this and continue being aware of the type of people around you, and always look out for your safety. I was one of a couple people of color left at the bar at that time, and seemed to really stick out as a target apparently. Be careful, be aware, and stay safe. This place employs shameful bigoted staff apparently. I reported the incident to police early the next morning, who by first amendment rights couldn't legally do anything, but said as a human this behavior was not acceptable and encouraged me to let people know. And, that's what I'm doing. This was HARASSMENT by a patron and then by the bar's management towards me, with both of them going out of their way to single me out and target me, and it felt incredibly racially charged given their direct language, verbal and non-verbal, and given who was present at the bar at the time. ----- More details: Relatively newer in town and went to Winters 1/14/23 with my partner to check out the spot out of curiosity since they still had a little lit xmas tree out in the front, and it was a long weekend. Got there around 8:15pm, listened to some local live bands, and started playing shuffleboard without incident until around 10:30pm. A blonde "biker chick" (as described by the bar back) got into my face unprovoked as I was gathering my pucks on one side of the shuffleboard, finishing up a game with my boyfriend. That side of the shuffleboard I was on was not crowded and my partner (standing on the other side of the shuffleboard) saw her dancing on the dance floor and go out of her way to get right into my face, leaning over the shuffleboard crowding my space, and made a couple rude and aggressive comments at me with very aggressive body language, including "if you would have asked, I would have moved", and the whole thing felt incredibly racial to me and I felt targeted. I did not respond to her and she moved away. I finished up the game with my partner, gathered our belongings, and asked the male bar back (older gentleman), who was available, what the bar's policy on racism is. The male bar back immediately said they don't tolerate it, asked me who did it (this is when I was describing the person and he asked me if it was a "biker chick" looking person) and went to tell the head bartender. I then saw the biker chick again at the bar and pointed it out that it was her. I saw the bar back then go talk to the head bartender who was a woman with dirty blonde hair and wearing a black beanie. My partner and I exited the establishment at this point. As we were exiting the building and already a block away from Winters, my partner and I hear someone yelling after us. We stop and it's the head bartender woman with the beanie stopping us and wanting to know what happened. I tried telling her, but she had also been drinking during the evening and kept interrupting me while I was trying to explain what happened from my view, was incredibly dismissive and defensive, and kept saying things like "if you're going to use the RACE CARD, I want to know what happened" and then proceeded not to listen to me, gaslighting my experience, continued to be defensive, and then seemed to get frustrated at one point since she refused to actually listen to me, and then yelled "BITCH!" at me turned around and screamed "you're not welcome back here!" and walked away back to the bar. ALSO Pinball (Creature from the black lagoon and Metalica), pool, and shuffleboard. Local bands play on random nights so bring earplugs just in case. For events follow @nocrapontap Big patio and 91% of people age 18-49 are fully vaccinated in this area. I feel safe here.
