Surf Lounge is a cash-only bar known for heavy pours. The Guinness was poured well, though the taste suggested the lines may need a cleaning. The crowd is very local, but the vibe felt more like a cruise-ship crowd -- and we were easily the youngest people in the bar by 15-20 years. When my girlfriend and I walked in, a lot of attention from other patrons made her uncomfortable, which took away from the experience. On the positive side, the bartenders were cool and efficient. Bar staff inattentive and dismissive. It took about 10 minutes before I could get their attention to order a drink, not super busy either. Like 5-7 open seats. One of the bartenders told me that it's not a confusing set up and implied that I was not intelligent for not knowing where the trash was. If you love dive bars, there's so much to love about Surf Lounge! We were waiting for a table at a hot pot place next door, and it was 1.5hr wait, so we decided to do a little pregame at Surf Lounge. This cash-only spot definitely has a locals feel to it with plenty of seating inside and a bigger patio out back that allows for dogs on leash. They've got plenty of TVs inside and out, so you can watch your favorite sports team. The best part about this spot is how cheap the beers and seltzers were. Topo chico hard seltzers, $5. Modelos, $5. Those are great prices for 2024! The staff here was all really kind and we felt very welcomed. Such an underrated spot and will definitely be back next time we have dinner in the area. I discovered this place thanks to my friends Faco and Stolowitz who've got me doing trivia there every Monday. I was fresh off a flight from Hawaii so it's perfect. This is the only place I order fancy drinks . Every week I try something new . I tried the s'mores it was good. That grasshopper tho who's that was really good. They make a great Hawaiian blue and volcano too, I love the mai tai too. I miss Joey. He was a great bartender. Hey man they've still got some super great ones . What an absolute gem and a hidden treasure that reminded us of how the San Francisco Bay Area used to be! The Surf Lounge is a fantastic throwback for those of us who loved the Bay Area when it was grounded and friendly, when people were civil to one another, and when we all knew how to have a good time together! It was at the tail end of a visit to see friends and family in the Bay Area when a friend suggested we meet at the nearby Camelot fish and chips shop in Pacifica. We thought we'd escape the city after she was due to meet a client in Pacifica. After we were thrown out of yet another place for staying past closing and wanting to keep talking, we were referred to a bar along the mall. Upon entering, it looked slightly rough on the edges, but we were put at ease immediately when we saw a group of folks who were clearly having a great time, as we heard songs that took us back to our childhoods. We happened to stumble in on Karaoke Tuesday and everyone was getting involved. The drinks were reasonably priced, everyone was supportive of those singing (regardless of how suited they were or not for America's Got Talent) and there was an expansive back patio area. Adding to the fun mix of people, the interiors were a warm combination of the local charm and a tiki lounge. Since it was a school night for us, it took every ounce of discipline to keep from singing, getting completely hammered, and making a night of it. For the next visit, this will be a fun stop and we can only imagine how fun it'd be on a weekend with nice weather. The patrons I have met here have all been super nice, however, the bartenders are another story. I've only been to SL a handful of times, and after this last visit, I don't think I'll be back. The reason is because out of the few times I've visited, the bartenders have been super rude to me on more than one occasion and I am a very friendly person. I feel like by now I should've left 10 good reviews for this place because it has been life-changing for me with meetings tons of good people, good friends that I consider family now. I consider this bar my go to place for anything and everything that I need anytime I'm having a bad day, anytime I'm having a good day. Got the same server from my previous bad experiences, but I had high hopes this time would go better. With the air conditions at 200 AQI and most of the population is running on a rainy day schedule, I expected to be safe inside the bar to enjoy a "night out." I headed for the bar and was asked by the bartender if I was ready to order. I asked for the blue punch bowl, to which he smirked, walked away, greeted everyone at the bar, and even stepped outside and had a whole conversation that ended in a high five with the other bartender. Why ask for someone's order if you are not ready to make it? When he finally came back, he kept smirking and pausing in between ingredients to talk to other customers. His actions felt intentional and really made me uncomfortable as I watched from my bar seat as he flaunted about. Unfortunately the bartender (same guy from my last review) was not only horrible at customer service, he was also adamant about leaving the doors open to the establishment open. I asked other customers if they were also cold and one customer thanked me for closing the doors. The bartender refused to listen to reasoning that it was cold and said "We have to keep the front door open." He refused to give a reason and instead kept propping both doors open so that all the polluted air flowed through the bar. I personally did not enjoy breathing in melted tires, melted plastic, and peoples ashes so I tried to finish my drink quickly as possible so that I could leave. At the bar, I over heard the bartender make jokes with the regulars about needing to keep the door open because he had the fire place going. Clearly, this establishment could use some training from the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) regarding the Shut The Front Door Bill/campaign. "The Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) is coordinating a public education and outreach campaign to let store owners know that they can protect the environment and save money simply by shutting the front door while air conditioners or central cooling systems are on. DCA enforces the City law requiring certain businesses to close their doors while air conditioning is running." I think that this easily can translate to heating systems as well. If the bartender had the intentions to keep the fire on to keep his customers warm, his plan completely backfired as gusts of cold ocean air kept the whole bar very cold. The fire and its warmth were obsolete due to the doors being propped wide open. Lastly, how can I put in a formal request for more customer service training for this bartender? He has been consistently rude and has made everyone of my visits to the Surf Lounge undesirable and uncomfortable! I'm positive with a bit of training he could do much better (preferable elsewhere)! ***Update**** I went to Winters and Longboards to check out the crowds and Borge establishments had up signs asking people to keep their front doors closed due to air quality! The Surf Lounge really needs to step up their game. read more

S-lounge is kinda intimate since it's a little bit smaller with small tables inside to converse. They do have a plastic dart board but it's more of a place to lounge with umbrella drinks - nothing too serious. Demo, the bartender, was friendly and efficient as he knew all the regulars drinks and had a pretty busy bar under control.
