Surf Lounge is a cash-only bar known for heavy pours. The Guinness was poured well, though the taste suggested the lines may need a cleaning. The crowd is very local, but the vibe felt more like a cruise-ship crowd -- and we were easily the youngest people in the bar by 15-20 years. When my girlfriend and I walked in, a lot of attention from other patrons made her uncomfortable, which took away from the experience. On the positive side, the bartenders were cool and efficient. We were served quickly, and service has never been an issue here. There's also a large patio in the back, which is a great feature. read more

Don't go here is you are not white!!! I have never witnessed such blatant racism in my life (and I am white). I went to grab a drink with my Latino friend and we hadn't even tried to order a drink yet when the bartender placed two glasses of ice water on the counter and made a big deal about saying we were "done". The kareoke was soooo bad we were on our way out anyways but the aggressively presented ice water made us ask "why". This resulted in the bartender ringing some cowbell thing and a mob of people came up forcing us outside and then one of the people from the mob took it upon himself to slam my friend down and put him in a choke hold. Luckily I was able to stop him and we left. We have filed a police report. read more

Friendly local atmosphere. Not the typical tourist spot. Low key, great drinks, good people. I'm not a local to Pacifica but I'm here for work quite a bit. They don't serve food but allow you to bring in food from many of the restaurants in the shopping area. Plenty of TV screens to enjoy sports. Beats any of the tourist bars/restaurants in the area. read more

Bar staff inattentive and dismissive. It took about 10 minutes before I could get their attention to order a drink, not super busy either. Like 5-7 open seats. One of the bartenders told me that it's not a confusing set up and implied that I was not intelligent for not knowing where the trash was. Loud music, hella sports screens, wobbly tables, sticky wood, gross bathroom, overall surfer hick paradise. The bartenders seemed offended that I brought my glass to the bar when finished. Honestly such a whack bar experience, not my place, won't return again. 2/5 did not order food read more

If you love dive bars, there's so much to love about Surf Lounge! We were waiting for a table at a hot pot place next door, and it was 1.5hr wait, so we decided to do a little pregame at Surf Lounge. This cash-only spot definitely has a locals feel to it with plenty of seating inside and a bigger patio out back that allows for dogs on leash. They've got plenty of TVs inside and out, so you can watch your favorite sports team. The best part about this spot is how cheap the beers and seltzers were. Topo chico hard seltzers, $5. Modelos, $5. Those are great prices for 2024! The staff here was all really kind and we felt very welcomed. Such an underrated spot and will definitely be back next time we have dinner in the area. They have an ATM inside, but if you walk across the street towards the Safeway, there's a Wells Fargo or Bank of America ATM machines. read more

Lower your expectations. Or actually, don't. Because you may be pleasantly surprised (or spoiled) by the fact that if you order a bourbon or other shot on the rocks, trust that Louie or any of the other bartenders will happily pour you the most generous drink you've ever been served in a long time. No joke. They will take care of you and $20 will easily cover your drinks for a while. Amazing. Don't ever change, Surf Lounge. You're something special! read more

This bar is welcoming and fun and kind. We came here after being disappointed by another bar. We just wanted to watch the 49ers. The locals were amazing and even bought us a round and they insisted on sharing their sweets with us. Lots of niners fans and lots of yelling... just the way at it should be. Sister & I stopped in on a random Tuesday for a quick one; around 3:30pm. Bartender was friendly & made great cocktails. I chose a blueberry vodka mule & sis had absolute oj. As we are both bartenders, we appreciate a well made drink. Place looks like it is great fun during busier hours! Hope to get back to enjoy a bigger crowd, perhaps at night & hangout longer. I discovered this place thanks to my friends Faco and Stolowitz who've got me doing trivia there every Monday. I was fresh off a flight from Hawaii so it's perfect. This is the only place I order fancy drinks . Every week I try something new . I tried the s'mores it was good. That grasshopper tho who's that was really good. They make a great Hawaiian blue and volcano too, I love the mai tai too. I miss Joey. He was a great bartender. Hey man they've still got some super great ones . Well the one guy there is awesome, dang I forgot His name. They've had some great comedy here too at times. Shout out to Honoton. The parking is great . There's a beach close by to walk it off if you're tipsy too. The drinks are priced great and they give you Your moneys worth. The crowd here is great too. What an absolute gem and a hidden treasure that reminded us of how the San Francisco Bay Area used to be! The Surf Lounge is a fantastic throwback for those of us who loved the Bay Area when it was grounded and friendly, when people were civil to one another, and when we all knew how to have a good time together! It was at the tail end of a visit to see friends and family in the Bay Area when a friend suggested we meet at the nearby Camelot fish and chips shop in Pacifica. We thought we'd escape the city after she was due to meet a client in Pacifica. After we were thrown out of yet another place for staying past closing and wanting to keep talking, we were referred to a bar along the mall. Upon entering, it looked slightly rough on the edges, but we were put at ease immediately when we saw a group of folks who were clearly having a great time, as we heard songs that took us back to our childhoods. We happened to stumble in on Karaoke Tuesday and everyone was getting involved. The drinks were reasonably priced, everyone was supportive of those singing (regardless of how suited they were or not for America's Got Talent) and there was an expansive back patio area. Adding to the fun mix of people, the interiors were a warm combination of the local charm and a tiki lounge. Since it was a school night for us, it took every ounce of discipline to keep from singing, getting completely hammered, and making a night of it. For the next visit, this will be a fun stop and we can only imagine how fun it'd be on a weekend with nice weather. A thumbs up for a lovely venue in Pacifica that's got a fantastic San Francisco vibe for those who remember when the Bohemian city was at its height. read more

The patrons I have met here have all been super nice, however, the bartenders are another story. I've only been to SL a handful of times, and after this last visit, I don't think I'll be back. The reason is because out of the few times I've visited, the bartenders have been super rude to me on more than one occasion and I am a very friendly person. No smile, no thank you, snappy attitudes... making the experience very uncomfortable... I really don't get it... the energy is so weird. Yeah, Ivd given this place a few chances, but Im not going back this time. read more

I walked up to the bar, and a very rude, overweight woman bartender glared at me. She didn't say hello, just said "What's up," and continued to be rude throughout the night. She needs to realize that she is in customer service, and Pacifica is known for its friendly people. She should drop the attitude or find a new line of work. read more

Be very careful with the bartenders. A certain one steals your money after you pay with a $20.00 and doesn't come back with any change after paying for one beer and says "you only put down a $5.00".!!! How is that ? Beers are now over $5.00, so why would I put down a $5.00 !!?? I now his name. I also know if you challenge him , he'll tell you to leave. Watch out for this guy. read more

Stopped in for a shot and a beer only to be insulted by the jackass running trivia night. I'm 74 and when I walked in I was greeted with the salutation " I thought you died of old age". I'm critically Ill with a rare neuromuscular disease, and fighting for my life. Didn't find trivia boy. Funny at all. The bars are OK. The bartenders good the best on being insulted repeatedly I can't recommend a joint. People in this country used to respect your elders. OK read more

Divey tiki, scorpion bowls with the norm of cocktails and beers! It reminds me of a beach bar and shack that is placed conveniently for enjoyment and leisure purposes. It's in a plaza with Safeway and other useful shops. While being along the ocean view on a beautiful sunny day, it's like a getaway and hideaway! The view is quite mesmerizing and calming! An a-ok dive bar in a small shopping plaza where the drinks are cheap with no frills! Something kind of neat about this place is that they have a nice tropical drink selection where you can get a Mai Tai or a huge scorpion bowl, lol. This place for the last 8 months had been my go to place, my second home where I connect with friends and make news friendships. The drinks like always spectacular! This review has been long overdue. I feel like by now I should've left 10 good reviews for this place because it has been life-changing for me with meetings tons of good people, good friends that I consider family now. I consider this bar my go to place for anything and everything that I need anytime I'm having a bad day, anytime I'm having a good day. I will celebrate it with my friends With my Surf lounge family and they will accept me for who I am. I have become a regular over the past two years and I honestly can't believe it's been that long because it feels like a short time for me. I will continue to come to this place for any event in my life and for any event that the bar will be celebrating because they consider me a part of their family and consider them a part of my family. I love this place so much. Everyone here, they are amazing people. I feel truly lucky to be part of the Surf lounge family and I will forever hold dear my heart. Stopped in here once. It's a dive bar. You go there to get drunk and not blow through your life savings in one night. In that regard, it more than excels. A friend of mine ordered a mixed drink. Gave him a pint glass with ice, filled it with alcohol, added a splash of soda. Enough said. read more

Don't accept non Californian IDs because they "never seen that before". My husband and I popped in for a beer and the bartender did not accept our Floridian IDs and told us they were fake. What a shame. read more

Just like Forrest Gump and his box of chocolates - you never know what you're gonna get. Especially in a strip mall bar, bikers, soccer moms, 50-somethings, etc. could all be inside or not. Walked in to some J Timberlake - Sexy Back on the jukebox. That kinda set the tone and vibe for a Friday night. A kinda lively and diverse crowd both ethnicity and age wise. S-lounge is kinda intimate since it's a little bit smaller with small tables inside to converse. They do have a plastic dart board but it's more of a place to lounge with umbrella drinks - nothing too serious. Demo, the bartender, was friendly and efficient as he knew all the regulars drinks and had a pretty busy bar under control. The reason was because I had a soccer game the next day and I didn't want to drink alcohol and I wanted to get some electrolytes in me. It would have been very simple for the bartender to just say, "I'm sorry we don't serve lemonade." Instead what he did is say I worked here 20 years and he never served lemonade and then kept scoffing at me. He kept saying this three times, walking back and forth, up until the point the patron next to me even said, "Don't worry about him." After that without even me talking to him, he said, "Who orders lemonade at an Irish pub?" Then without me saying anything, he said, "No one orders lemonade at an Irish pub." I was honestly just trying to get a drink and he made me feel very dumb. Overall if a patron asks you for a drink, it's very easy just to say, "I'm sorry we can't do that," but he kept making me feel like an idiot. I was also surprised they did not serve lemonade; that's a very simple request. He didn't offer any alternatives except for 7-Up, which I didn't really want but paid for anyway. I ended up not drinking it even after I paid for it and leaving the bar. I guess the bartender got what he wanted. He gave me a drink that was other than lemonade; he made me pay for it and I just left the bar unhappy. I would highly recommend against visiting this establishment, especially with the grumpy bartender. He is an older white Irish guy. I understand they might have your own customers at the bar but I think it costs nothing to treat patrons with respect and not tell them that they're stupid for asking for a drink. Overall I would not recommend this place at all. Very enforced error. Sad!

THE PLACE IS DIRTY AND the BARTENDERs HAVE A BAD ATTITUDE. ******BEWARE OF THE BARTENDER LADY/ASSHOLE TRYING WAY TO HARD TO BE A DUDE, WITH SHORT HAIR AND WEARS A BASEBALL CAP ON KARAOKE TUESDAY NIGHTS!***** I DO NOT KNOW IF the help IS BIPOLAR or if the help was on something, but I walked up to the HELP to ask for some change from my $20 dollar bill, to tip the karaoke guy if I sang karaoke. But THE HELP starts acting crazy, yelling at me BEFORE I GOT A CHANCE TO SPEAK. I just froze in shock as THE HELP went verbally off on me, speaking like someone on the spectrum. The Help didn't make any sense(No complete sentences were ever spoken). I was completely confused because I was clueless about WHAT THE hell the help WAS YELLING at me ABOUT. As I just stood there staring at this ABUSIVE BARTENDER. The HELP then said OVER and OVER, " where did that drink come from ? where did that drink come from?" I slowly turned and looked at my lemonade i just sat on the counter top on my left, then slowly looked back at THE HELP. I thought, "my lemonade?" The HELP continued rambling on , saying random WORDS. Then the HELP grabbed my lemonade and threw it in the sink. (OMG) I thought, "this NUT JOB OWES ME MONEY for throwing away my lemonade." (I still haven't said one word yet). I just stood there in disbelief watching the animated attempts to INTERROGATE and make weird accusations. The Help then told me to, "get out. I am NOT going to serve YOU. LEAVE. " (note: I still did not say one word yet) I finally spoke and said I wasn't there to get a drink. I needed change for a $20. bill. Strangely , the help grabbed my money and gave me four fives. Im thinking, "WTF". As i am being given my change, the help is mumbling no alcohol allowed . I responded to that by saying, "I am not drinking alcohol. Thus, why I had my LEMONADE."(1+1=2?? ) I often bring water in bars , I wasn't aware I HAD TO DRINK ALCOHOL ONLY IN A BAR. The HELP then said, "get out, I am not serving you." I thought , "wow, you really could use ANGER MANAGEMENT CLASSES, and a some manners wouldn't hurt to have either. " I READ REVIEWS FROM A DEBBIE WHO STATED THEY ALLOW YOU TO BRING IN YOUR OWN FOOD. BUT APPARENTLY BRINGING IN LEMONADE SETS OFF SOME TRIGGER IN THE BARTENDERS TO TURN THEM INTO SOME SORT OF TYRANT. WHO KNEW?!! ______________(here is what went on before she freaked out on me) I just came from having dinner. I was drinking lemonade with my meal , I wanted a togo paper cup but i know the owners where i had dinner, so they said keep the cup. I did not think anything of it. I didn't think it was a big deal. Who knew this decision was going to play out so traumatically? Usually, customers think employees are stable. A stable person normally deals with customers by asking questions or informing them about things. Employees do not beat up a customer or punish them without informing them of what is wrong. Who accuses before confirming? I feel like I was hit by a bus. THIS ASSHOLE EMPLOYEE MAKES ME WANNA BUY A BODY CAM and hire someone to film how many time this employee steps out of line. ( my money is on a lot). For a female, she was not looking out for other females. And if this person WANTS ME TO IDENTIFY THEM AS A MALE, well hell, I would have treated a MALE WAY DIFFERENT. I would have DEFIANTLY had something for a man ACTING LIKE a punk ass for sure! HUGE RED FLAG BEHAVIOR all the way around. How can you relax and have fun anywhere if you know you are not in safe company with their staff? You cant. I cant know what mental disability this person has in ten minutes , but I Do know traumatizing customers by not disclosing it IS NOT OKAY. After reading other reviews, a class action suit might be in order as long as the owner continues to keep this person on payroll. I told the karaoke guy I wont be singing and will never be back. I told him the staff ABUSES AND GASLIGHTS CUSTOMERS. A BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENT IS NOT A PLACE TO TRICK INNOCENT PEOPLE to enter to be victimized by their employees. A CUSTOMER IS NOT SUPPLY for SURF LOUNGE NARCISSISTIC EMPLOYEES. The OWNER REALLY SHOULD CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS MORE, and VET their EMPLOYEES BETTER, and possibly DRUG TEST THEM also, so innocent customers aren't blindsided and victimized by them. Some people should never be given any power! And some should not be allowed to speak directly to people. This bartender falls under both. I REALLY hope this bartender has NO children or PETs. I am still in disbelief. More shocked others have complained yet nothing has been done about it. Note to self, " NEVER GO TO SURF LOUNGE EVER AGAIN BECAUSE THEY HAVE A BARTENDER Woman trying too hard to be a man, WORKING THERE WHO IS 5150!( NOTE: I can say these things only because we are the same sex). The Surf Lounge in Pacifica, located across from the Pacific Manor Shopping Center, is a fantastic local dive bar with a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere. It's a cash-only bar, but there's an ATM inside for convenience. The people here are friendly and easy to talk to, making it a great place to relax and enjoy yourself. They host fun events throughout the week, including karaoke nights, BBQs during big games, and other community gatherings that bring everyone together. The bartenders genuinely care about their customers and do a great job making everyone feel welcome and well taken care of. They serve way too much liquor to their regulars whom the majority are bonafide alcoholics.. my homies and I came here for a good punch bowl and feared for our lives... We walked in and literally all the people in the bar stopped talking and stared at us.. Fresh meat i guess. The bowl was nothing special... Nothing pretty. This belligerent creep came and sat next to my gay homeboy and acted like he wanted to beat his ass for just being gay.. At that point we cashed out asap, walked out super fast and never looked back. Hands down one of the creepiest places I have incountered in my life. I thought I was in an episode of the Twilight Zone. I don't know what the people were on in there but it sure as hell wasn't the alcohol. My male friend was hit on by another man that appeared to be under the influence of some controlled substance.
