Oh Pacifica dive bars. You are quirky, wild, entertaining, sexy, fun, and downright local. But Winters, you have my heart all the way. It's you I think about from time to time - or maybe a bit more than that, but I won't divulge my obsession. For me, in my book of perfect dive bars, Winters Tavern would be the poster child. The crowd is chill. The music is old school pop, and when a song comes on I know, it's like, "oh damn! I haven't heard this in so long!" It's ridiculously fun. The quirky decor - like the permanent Santa, the awesome bartenders, the good music, the good vibes, and the drinks are great (I always get margaritas) makes this place my absolute favorite local haunt. A bar that is a tad nicer than your standard dive bar. There was plenty of seating when we came in, and they have a stage set up in the corner as they have live music throughout the week. They have a standard selection of beer on tap as well as a full bar so you can order yourself a mixed drink if you want. It's a little loud inside, even without a band playing, so take note of that if you're planning on having a conversation with someone. read more

My wife and I bought tickets to see Agent Orange at Winter's. The band was great, but unfortunately nobody in the whole bar could hear the vocals. I mentioned this to the owner several times, but he either did not give a shit or nobody in the place knew how to turn a knob. We never were able to hear the vocals. Very disappointed. I feel like I got totally ripped off. Don't pay a dime to see a show a Winters. It's not worth it. The place sucks. read more

Had a very enjoyable night here. The beer selection is great, the bartenders friendly, the music choices were awesome for this old dude (80s English pop and ska) and they had live music. Can't wait to go back. I see this is listed as a "dive bar." I guess those are the only kinds of bars I ever go to, because Winters did not seem particularly divey to me. Welcome Bikers, Rednecks, White Trash, and Old Timers alike. If you can't have a good time here, then you need to seriously re-assess your dedication to the game of Life. A bar wench will ask you what you want.....and don't piss her off. She has served more Assholes, Belligerents, Dumb-Asses, Ex-Cons, and Bitches than you people have had shots. This place has a professional-looking Shuffleboard table. And they take their Shuffleboard VERY seriously. It has digital scoring and the finest pucks that money can buy. The crew that was raging on the table gave me the stink eye when I appeared interested in joining the action. They were a rough looking bunch.....in their 70's, but rough looking, and I was not about to throw down on their turf. The Jukebox KICKS ASS PEOPLE!!!!! I was sure that if I stayed there long enough, listening to all that bad ass music, that I would have sprouted a Mullet that would have been Barber-proof. Small local bar in Pacifica. Pool table in the back and shuffle board. I'm from the Bay Area and never been to Pacifica. Took a while to get drinks with a small local crowd. I have been there twice and both times had the bartenders cheat me. Once, during a show, I ordered a drink that came out to $12, gave the bartender a $20 and he never gave me my change. I asked him, and he got pissed off, and refused to help me the rest of the night. Recently, at a show I ordered a drink, and the bartender charged me $15 for a Manhattan. The next round, I bought a Manhattan and a soda and was charged $16 for both. This same jackass bartender would ignore me as well, so I had to rely on the other bartender across the bar. Musician / Band Perspective Review: Two stars for being a "pro live music" venue by the water, and, for the new husband and wife team taking over... nice people. Unfortunately, the managing of the stage and bands is a joke. We booked a show there recently whereupon they: A) Booked another band from out of town for the same night, without telling our side (our bands were all on the marque) B) Some knucklehead behind the bar told us we must let this rouge band go on at a specific time, even though it disrupts people in other bands with babies to get home to, saying "If you don't like it, you can get the f*^% out!" C) "Sound guy" said he would be back at 8pm to manage sound... never came back, and, found out that they hadn't even bothered to plugin the PA. The worst part is the bar guy being rude to bands and promoters, and organizers. Especially when this is supposed to be a "live band friendly" place. Wont't be coming back to play here, and, advise all music talent to seek other venues until Winters gets rid of the problematic staff. read more

Uh yeah, nah, I can't do Winters. My buddy warned me but I still wanted to check out their beer list. Well, their beer list included everything but price. I asked the bartender where the prices were and she informed us that beers were $7-9, that's it. Drinks are too pricey to be a dive and it's shady not to include beer prices. Go to Pedro Point Brewing, $5-6 beers and the prices are on the board. read more

Until the last year or so, Winters was a fun neighborhood tavern where you could get a great pint, watch drunk karaoke and play some serious shuffleboard. Unfortunately, the biker element has turned waaaaaaay too nasty lately and the place has gotten too rough and seedy for the average Joe or Joan. The management, which is relatively new, I hear, doesn't seem to give a shit either. So if you have to go, do it in a group, stay in well lit areas and make sure you keep your drink in your line of sight at all times. UPDATE: Winters has cleaned up its act under new management. Great live music and a safe place for locals and music lovers to hang out, drink a quality brew and step out of the fog. read more

One of the best dive bars in the Peninsula. It looks completely sketch from the outside. Equally matching is the interior design with its dim lighting, dark wooden tones, and weird bar smells. But this small bar also has character, with its multiple television sets, a small stage, a shuffleboard table, and pool table in the back. The bartender whom I presume also to be the owner always serves her patrons with a smile. It's pretty hard not to smile and wonder about the clientele. Watching the crowd while drinking a beer can only be described as...amusing. I've never had the opportunity to participate, but I'm told they have beer pong and karaoke on certain nights. read more

I've lived in Pacifica my whole life and always drove by this place. There were mixed reviews so i decided to try it out for myself with a couple of friends. We got there around 11..a little late, i know. It was absolutely packed because it was a Sat night and there was a live band playing..super super loud. Im young and can handle it but I couldn't hear the person next to me which is absolutely ridiculous. Suprisingly no one was playing shuffle board and that was one of the main reasons we came there. I also ended up seeing a bunch of people I graduated high school with, don't know if that's a good thing or bad. Ha. This place caused a whole night of drama for my and my friends so I don't know if I will come back on a Sat night, maybe a weekday is best. read more

When you get off the freeway to come here, it is literally the only thing you see. Easy to find: ONE POINT. We showed up on Sunday to play a with another one of our friends bands from LA. The bartender told us there was no show that night. We get the dude who set up the show to come down, and there has indeed been a miscommunication. He expected us in 2 weeks, we are here NOW with our friends who are very much out of town as well. We go over this very briefly, and decide to have the show (there was one person in the bar when we showed up.) The show goes on: ANOTHER POINT. Both bands play, we have a kick ass time, lots of people show up, and the promoter makes popcorn. Hooray! Add to this a working fireplace, and you have many, many points. Good time. Nice local spot without any scary "regulars" and a surprisingly adequate PA system. They didn't tell us to stop our post-show-parking-lot-dance-party either. another point. read more

This bar is a trip! (to where, I have NO idea). I went there to see my buddy play with his band and I just may have seen the most eclectic group of customers ever in a bar. There were punkers, hard rockers, cowboy's, young women, old women, and everything in between. I liken it to the current day version of the bar scene in Star War's. The beer choice is eclectic as well. If you like pints, or large cans of PBR, or the hard stuff, they got it. The help, and the customers were very cool and that can only be because the place has a good vibe. I can't really say anything bad about this place. If I lived near there, I'd be there way more often than I should be. read more

It is time I share some wonderful times and some tips for ladies. !st off, regardless of background, this is a good place to go to if you want to just get away from the hustle and bustle and kick. You can be yourself and patrons from a variety of backgrounds have enjoyed Winters. LADIES YOU CAN BE SURE YOU WILL BE SAFE HERE. The staff and regular patrons will watch over you always.. I've had many great nights of fun here and although I haven't been able to get there for a few years I do keep up with things going on in Pacifica. My drive to get there has always been a bit of a drive but worth it as I have met some of my friends that I am still friends with today. They pour great drinks and Brian is an awesome bartender with a smile and heart of gold. He will always entertain and lift you up. All the bartenders pour a good drink and all are friendly. The patrons are also very friendly. It's like a little family yet the door is always open to all. They have music several nights a week in a variety of forms including live bands and a couple nights where you can just shoot pool or sit and hang with your friends and make new friends. We were done here to support a band's performance. I really didn't know what to expect after reading previous Yelp reviews. The place is much better than I expected. It was roomy, well maintain, more than the average dive bar. I don't think you can even call this a dive bar, more like a pub. I didn't know what I want since I am not a hard liquor nor beer drinker. The bartender made me this awesome drink using St. Germain from just listening to what I like/not like! That is the kind of bartender you want to have, creative and reasonably priced. read more

Yep, it'll remind you of a Roadhouse. Pretty cool place to see live music. Stage isn't too high and you get a great view from where ever you are in the bar. Caught a few metal shows here and the crowds were pretty decent. Surprisingly not many knuckle-headed jocks either! The bar is located in a pretty quiet part of town, but then again everything is quiet in this town. Just be careful leaving the parking lot as the cops love to feast on drunk drivers. Oh yeah, the jukebox has the ability to download almost anything you want which is great for you Rush fans. It recognizes the entire side 2 of Caress of Steel as one song. Couldn't find too many NWOBHM songs though. I'm eager to witness the drunk karaoke. read more
