Okay I really love BBQ. I grew up with it in Mississippi. I saw a posting on Instagram about Winners BBQ and decided to drive to Plano from Irving to check it out. I'm disappointed. My plate is a 2-meat plate with Mac n Cheese and greens. The ribs are not tender...fall of the bone and they seem OLD!!! What kind of chicken are they using. The darn skin was bullet proof. Why wouldn't the skin tear? The greens....the green are horrendous!! Tasteless and just nasty. They taste like simmered college rule paper. I'm home so I added hot sauce and seasoning to make it decent. The Mac n cheese is okay. The sweet tea is also nasty. Most bbq places are known for having good sweet tea. I'm just highly disappointed. This is a disgrace for being Southern owners. So the only thing that is worth eating from my plate was the BBQ sauce. read more

The slogan for this place should be "Great BBQ, terrible customer service". I know every place can't live up to the Chick Fil A standard but you could at least attempt it. I could rip on the service for a couple paragraphs but let's talk about the BBQ. Most BBQ joints I hit up have some plain watered down Mac n cheese but surprisingly they do a darn good job. The beans don't taste like they are out of can as well so that's pretty dope. The meats would all be significantly higher than anything served in a Dickey's which isn't crazy high but still quite a bit better. Honestly for the price I would come here more often but good lord I've never wanted to order from a robot so bad. Hopefully no one else gets the employee me and my friend got when we went up there. I love when a restaurant actually smells like food! Especially a good bbq place! You can smell the smoker soon as you walk through the door! (I even left with the smell on me)... Prices are a bit pricey but I think all bbq places are. I got the two plates dinner. I had ribs and sausage. With greens(available only on weekends) and baked beans. The meat was good but it didn't taste fresh and was actually warm, not hot. And I went on a Saturday afternoon. The greens had NO SEASONING at all, just taste like greens so I drowned mine in hot sauce. Now the baked beans were good, even tho they taste like can bush baked beans and added seasoning. Nothing wrong with bush beans though. Not sure if I will be back or not. I wasn't totally satisfied but I wasn't totally pleased either. read more

I actually heard about this place on twitter and finally got around to seeing what all the rave was about. My mother and I were seriously craving some GOOD barbecue and hit the jackpot with this place! Mrs R and I split the two meat plate of ribs and sliced beef with two sides ($16), and it was plenty for us, although we were not exactly starving. The ribs were plenty moist, had enough smoke and just to that point where they're barely holding together. The brisket was sliced a little thicker than some places do, but had that melt-in-your mouth goodness. Our sides were mac & cheese and potato salad. Both were clearly from scratch and far outclassed any chain BBQ joint, especially the mac & cheese - so creamy and tasty. For atmosphere, they offer chairs, clean tables, and some tasteful Motown classics piped in. I really can't find anything wrong with this place. Is it the best in Collin County? It's pretty close, maybe second, but it does have shorter lines and slightly lower prices, so win-win. read more

Walking into this place, it smelled like what I want heaven to smell like. We were immediately met by a line though, and a girl writing that they were out of meats and sides on a small board. We waited about a half hour. I'm impatient when I'm hungry. It was 100% worth it. I got the 2 meat plate for $14. It's two huge portions of meat, 2 sides and a drink (and the Classic BBQ side of white bread). It was far too much food for one person, even one meat. 14 bucks for this much food is an awesome deal. The Mac and cheese is good, but the baked beans were far superior. I'm not a beans person, but they've got brown sugar and bacon in them. It's hard to resist. I take everyone who is visiting Dallas for the first time and they want authentic smokey tender bbq because you don't even need bbq sauce but it's good too! Ok I had a "didn't know how good I had it moment" until I realized y'all were closed yesterday so I was forced to settle for another bbq spot who's way overhyped. After I tasted their food, all I could think about was Winners. Winners Brisket is so perfectly cooked each & every time I almost wanted to cry when I tasted Lockhart's. W sides are perfectly seasoned & are so delicious as well! & well W's sauce is truly boss!!!! It just made me feel sorry for all those people that thought what they were eating was actually good bbq & wanted to announce to everyone there to try Winners instead. This is some of the better BBQ in Texas. A lot of it is self-service so you can save on tipping, and also help yourself to what you like in terms of drinks, silverware, pickles. You walk in, order, seat yourself, and pick up your own order when they call your name. I've been there twice so far. This last time, the service was subpar as I said "dine in" twice and the girl still marked it as to go. However, that's not a huge deal. The food was great both times. Brisket is amazingly moist and fatty. This is not a place you go for lean meat. The chicken is in dark meat quarters, not pulled or white meat. The potato salad seems to be mustard based, maybe had mayo, but definitely contains chunks of eggs. The mac n cheese is a decent option, too. Pretty tasty. They don't have typical soft drink options. RC, Big Red, stuff like that. Unique choices. Only one type of sauce. One type of pickles, peppers, onions, etc. No thrills, but great food. They have r&b usually playing, much from the 80s-90s. And they have multiple tvs. Their meals come with a drink included and are filling for the price and quality. Both times I've gone on Sunday afternoons, both times they've been out of turkey legs. Not a big deal to me--just something to be aware of if that's what you're craving (maybe call ahead). The only flaws with this place are their hours, as they only open "late" (until 6) on the weekend. They close by 3 most days, so it's not a weekday dinner option. The other flaw is that you cannot dine in without smelling like you danced directly in front of the smoker. Either get take out or don't wear fresh clothes, and plan to shower later. read more

Plano was definitely in dire need of a place like this. I can't be too overly critical since I've only tried the brisket plate but I tell you what they do the brisket part right. I thought the meat was juicy and well seasoned. Of course not all brisket is created equal but one part you must get right is the juicy part. We ordered some BBQ before the Labor Day holiday and heated it up the next day. Still really tasty meat. I'd go back for this alone. I won't go as far to say it's the best I've had in Dallas but Plano does have themselves a winner indeed!! I've been here once and ordered a brisket sandwich with a side of mac n cheese. The sandwich was humongous! It was very good just had alot of pepper seasoning which was a little overwhelming. I ordered the brisket baked potato and a pound of sliced brisket to go. Oh my gosh.... Best brisket I have ever tasted and that's the truth. Is so juicy and moist. Most brisket is cooked to death and becomes dry but theirs melts in your mouth and is juicy. I highly recommend it. Potato was good lots of beef and a huge potato. It is easily enough to serve two people. My only problem was when I went to get the sauce for the to go order, the lids did not fit on the cups they provide for you and so I had to just squirt some brisket into the box.
